And I actually read articles on from the newyorker on other topics because they do write some good articles. But they are extremely one sided when it comes to politics.
@BShark Well for sure they would. I guess my question is is that really a likely option? Obviously KU isn't going to take Zeke if they think it is going to hurt them with the big 2. So does KU not feel as good with Hurt and JRE or does Zeke have to wait until those two decide...?
Also JRE should decide early correct?
LOL @ the NewYorker. If you want to discount Fox News or any conservative news organization then the same can be said for them.
So does Zeke have any impact on Hurt or JRE? I understand that Hurt and JRE are better players but just curious if it has any real affect...
@BShark just saw that. Interesting UK did not.

Final 5 is Arizona, Purdue, UCLA, Baylor, and KU...
Looks like Zeke Nnaji is going to cut his list to 5 tomorrow. He was here this weekend.
Has anyone heard anything on how JRE visit went?
Ugh, Louisville! That was brutal.
Why are people talking about Bryant coming to KU? Come on!
I know there are some big names , but does anyone feel like this is a smaller group than usual?
Maybe it’s just me.
- I remember Matt Scott saying the staff actually prefers to do OV not on Late Night so that they have more one on one time with kids.
The article Rivals posted today said that if all goes well on his visit this weekend then a commitment should follow shortly...
Not sure if it was in this thread or not but Isaac McBride is down to Auburn, Virginia, and KU. He is visiting this weekend.
There is zero chance Snyder finishes out that contract. I think next year will be his last year.
When did Hurts say he was transferring?? @BShark
@Kcmatt7 This KSU team just looks different. I don't think they are going to turn their season around. Before the season everyone thought this was a 8-10 win team. I heard former players on the radio talking about how this team should challenge OU for the conference championship. Reality is this team is just not very good. I would be very surprised if they beat Texas this weekend.
I remember before the Miss St game national pundits talking about how this is the game Snyder wins, the spread is way too high, etc... Then they got steam rolled. Just doesn't seem like this is nearly as talented as people thought, and now there seems to be some decisiveness.
Read this from Bossi this morning on what he heard happened with Samuel Williamson...
What happened? During the recruiting process, Williamson never hid from his family ties to Kansas or from saying it was his dream school growing up. Early on, other programs tried to kill the Jayhawks by saying that they weren’t making him enough of a priority. Then in the summer, the Jayhawks did prioritize him and got him on campus for an official. Instead of committing, though, he decided to take a few more visits. Rather than wait and possibly miss on other targets, Kansas took a commitment from four-star Christian Braun as Williamson was finishing his official visit to Louisville. A day after Braun committed to Kansas, Williamson committed to Louisville.
So Hurt is not coming this weekend?
So has he announced anything yet??
What’s the deal with the big kid at Sunrise? Is he Nike bound ...?
@justanotherfan I agree. OU is obviously a step or 50 above us but KU needs to be able to compete with all the other teams. Including TCU and WVU. By compete I mean that it’s a game going into the fourth quarter. There’s no reason to get ran off the field by any of these teams.
Has Kai Jones cut his list and named officials yet?
So in a matter of weeks James went from a lock to Duke to Clemson, and then picks Tennessee. Gotta love recruiting!
Beaty announced this morning that Bender will start but Kendrick will play. Nothing has changed.
Cassisus Stanley is making a visit for Late Night.
@Texas-Hawk-10 I agree. It’s going to be very hard to convince a up and coming “hot” name candidate to come to Kansas. It’s just not worth the risk.
They are not the same situation. For one neither Hill nor Kelce ever quit on the team like Peters did last year. Also to our knowledge neither has shown a coach up by arguing with them in front of the team on a team bus.
To make a blanket statement comparing the 3 is lazy and incorrect.
Does anyone find it interesting that their wasn't a bunch of reports about the Chiefs locker room being pissed about this trade like the Mack trade? I didn't read one story about anyone fending for Peters. So one can assume that not only was Reid and Hunt tired of his shit most of his teammates were as well.
*As I said earlier I didn't really have much of a issue with Peters being a clown on the field because he made plays. My biggest beef with him was the fact that he couldn't / wouldn't tackle a feather.
@FarmerJayhawk Really. I thought that shipped had sailed.

It wasn't just the protest with Peters. It was his on the field behavior that Reid and probably most of all Clark Hunt did not care for. He was a loose cannon. Personally I could care less about that stuff as long as you are making plays, but it is clearly something that Andy and Clark grew tired of.
Also @Kcmatt7 I would assume Andy had more than one talk with Peters about his on the field antics and it is clear Peters would not listen to him or anyone. That is who he is and if he doesn't want to change for the team or at least dial it back then Andy and Clark have to move on and live with it.
I also don't think the Chiefs honestly thought / think they are legit contenders this year with a first year starting QB as that is tough to do, but if Mahomes plays like he did last week and they advance to the playoffs I do think they will be second guessing not having Peters in that secondary for another run this year.
The Chiefs were not going to sign Peters to a long term contract. They just weren't. So I have no problem with them trading him and getting what they could for him instead of letting him walk in a year. Also there is a reason they only got what they got for him and there were only 2-3 teams interested in trading for him.
Looks like Cole Anthony has set two officials. Notre Dame and Unc this month.
Serena is a sore loser. Always has been and probably always will be. As I said in the other thread she was getting beat soundly and then threw a tantrum to avert that.
Villanova has offered Matt Hurt.
Also Self met with big man Zeke Nnaji for 2.5 hours on Sunday night according to Zags.
@Texas-Hawk-10 First of all FSU lost their starting QB in game 1 so that changes the dynamic of the whole season.
On KU it is kind of common sense if you watch football that this team doesn't have the talent and more importantly the coaching to win 5-6 games. After Rutgers they are going to be a underdogs in every single game and double digit dogs in most.
@Texas-Hawk-10 I assumed most people understood that this team isn't winning 5 or 6 games. So yes Beaty will be fired.
@BShark Wait on what? I am assuming you are talking about Beaty... He is going to get fired no matter what happens the rest of the way. Whenever Long feels like the best time to do that then he will do it.

Jokes aside the Chargers kicked the Chiefs ass today. Got lucky with special teams.
What??
Did you watch the game? Chiefs got a bit lucky today. The defense is a huge issue going forward.
Yes, I watched the whole game. To say the Chiefs were lucky to win is silly IMO. Of course the D is going to be a issue moving forward as everyone has said for the last month, but if Berry comes back that solves a lot.
Obviously winning a game and a road game at that is great for the players and staff. However, CMU is absolutely trash so I am going to reserve my judgements until after the Baylor game. I have said all along I just want a squad that is competitive and worth watching every week. If they go get smoked each week in the Big 12 then this win doesn't really mean much.
They should win Saturday against Rutgers as well. If that happens maybe the team can get some real momentum and confidence heading into conference play where outside of OU and maybe TCU the big 12 is weak.
Serena was getting her ass kicked. Didn’t like it and has always been a sore loser. So she made a spectacle of it to turn all the attention on herself to make seem like she got a bad deal.

This is a pretty thorough report on the early returns or lack there of for Nike.

My point is not that Kaep would be a top ten or even necessarily a top 20 QB. But I bet you he could start for five teams in the league right now, and that doesn't include teams that are starting young QBs like Chicago, KC, Houston, etc. But there are other teams that don't have young QBs that are starting QBs that are terrible (Bills, Jets, Giants, Ravens if they don't start Jackson, Broncos, you could argue Cincinnati and Arizona could be on this list also).
Kaep has definite shortcomings. I wouldn't build my team around him. But he's better than several QBs in the league now. That's the point I'm attacking. Not that he would be All-Pro or above average - but that he could, absent the NFL freezing him out, be a starting QB in the NFL right now, today, this week. He is not.
Therefore he did sacrifice something. There are many that wish Kaepernick was poor and destitute on the street so that they could rub it in his face because he offended their sensibilities, so they undercut him by saying he wasn't good enough to be in the NFL when that is clearly not true. I'm not trying to change anyone's opinions on Kaep or his social positions. But saying he couldn't start in the NFL is still false because there are starting QBs in the NFL that outright suck, and some of those teams don't even have a young QB that they are building around. Maybe Kaep would be the 25th best QB in the league. Maybe he would be the 30th. But he would almost certainly start, and I guarantee you that in a few weeks, when some teams starter goes down with injury, Colin Kaepernick will be better than the guy that team chooses to replace him with. After all, Jay Cutler got the call last year.
The Bills have Josh Allen, the Jets are starting Sam Darnold, the Giants have Eli Manning, and the Ravens have Flacco and Lamar Jackson. So no there is no reason any of those teams would need to sign Kap.
Just because Allen and Baker are not starting week 1 doesn't mean they are not going to play at some point this season. There is no reason for any of the teams you mentioned to bring Kap in. That is the reality.
BShark said:
Flacco is absolute garbage though. He was a five alarm tire fire last year.
And they drafted Lamar Jackson so why would they need to bring in Kap?
justanotherfan said:
We have gone over this a few times, but I just want to remind everyone of some of the QBs that will be starting for actual NFL teams this weekend, along with their passer rating from last season (Kaepernick had a rating of 90.7 in 2016, and will turn 31 later this year):
Again, this is just football reasons and doesn't take contracts or anything else into account.
Eli Manning and Joe Flacco (both at 80.4)
Blake Bortles (84.7)
Derek Carr (86.4)
Andy Dalton (86.6)
Cam Newton (80.7)
Marcus Mariota (79.3)
Now, here's a list of teams that do not have a QB on their 2018 roster with a higher rating than Kaepernick in either 2016 or 2017:
Buffalo, Denver, Kansas City, Baltimore, Jacksonville, Giants, Cleveland, Chicago, Jets, Indianapolis.
If we take out the teams that either have new, young QBs or a guy returning from injury (KC, Chicago, Indy) that still leaves us with 7 teams that don't have a STARTING QB on their roster better than Colin Kaepernick. Cleveland isn't starting Mayfield this year. Buffalo isn't starting Allen. Denver's QB situation is horrible. Eli Manning was past his best by date two years ago. Jacksonville might have gone to the Super Bowl last year with a QB better than Blake Bortles. The Jets QB situation is a tragic comedy. And Joe Flacco is basically Eli Manning with less famous siblings.
Saying he's just a backup is flat out false. He's better than maybe a third of the QBs that will start this weekend. He's better than basically every backup not named Carson Wentz. Heck, the most damaging thing the NFL has against them regarding the lawsuit is that the Miami Dolphins brought Jay Cutler (yes, that Jay Cutler) out of retirement to start actual live NFL games for them last year.
Like I said, anyone is free to disagree with Kaepernick, his protest, his methods, or anything else you want to. But saying its a football based decision is a false narrative.
I refuse to believe that you believe this. Either you don’t watch football or don’t know anything about it. Thanks for the laughs though.
Kap doesn't really want a job in the NFL. It doesn't fit with his and his handlers narrative.
@justanotherfan It is actually not that hard of a question. Cam is a talented QB who can help a team win at the highest level. Kap is not. One is worth the headache and one is not.
@justanotherfan He is not in the NFL because his talent is not worth the headache that owners and coaches would have to deal with. It is simple. If he was talented enough he would be on a team... You think is Cam Newton was doing this he would be in the same situation as Kap?
He is making more money now off of book deals and Nike then he would have as a backup QB so your he scarficed money argument holds no water.
I understand that Wiseman is likely headed to Memphis or UK, but if he wants to come and visit and have a in-home with Self it can't hurt. Don't see any downside to it at all. You just never know in recruiting!
