@rockchalkjayhawk how about a picture of the most clever fan’s sign, the heart of the campus, the yelp reviews of restaurants of various nationalities near campus, the cheerleading squad (miss you lumpy), the distance to the nearest beach, some crime stats in the area, etc to present some of the intangibles that might offset low offers. And maybe some indication of the dark money promises that the shoecos might be sweetening the pot with.

I will be prepared to buy my youngest a pair of Adidas “Flory’s” in a few years in thanks.

Super stoked to have Flory back, and I am glad the kid and his people stuck up for him.

I watched the Tre White highlights against Duke.
Impressions: seems to use his size well. Jumps well. Seems capable offensively against length and talent, it seems he needs to find a higher gear consistently.

Listened to an Illinois guy who was very positive about Tre’s game but said he wanted to be on ballore and coach didnt see him in that role.

@Texas-Hawk-10 so my thought was that Auburn probably has a more competitive, complete roster and we have 3? scholarship players so far. I take your point that Darryn is expensive but I dont think I fully appreciate the point that we could get 3 other useful players for the 3 million for Flory. If Auburn has the same amount of NIL as us, Im confused how paying for Flory 3 mill wouldnt leave them short on other impact players, something which would surprise me if it happened.

@Texas-Hawk-10 thanks for a well considered rational counter-perspective. I’m still unclear exactly how much cheddar we are operating with. How does Auburn have that much more than us?

Jason Werth wasn't worth his contract in his mid thirties when the Nats paid him. But he was a domino that led to building a championship roster. Sometimes you need to pony up.

I just dont get writing off Florys importance or value. His departure is devastating imo. And looking at his per game stats over the year is not an accurate metric of value.

What if other transfers would want to play at KU if we had Flory?

Everyone who thinks Flory is a $3 million dollar player is betting against Bill and staff's assessment of talent. Given the last 3 years, can you blame them?

@TYOHawk @BShark Bill said several times that AJ had a positive attitude. AJ got visibly better 2nd half. Had 2 of his best games late, including a tourney game where he was critical. Bill had him in the post game presser one of those games All signs point up, imo, unless its all for show.

Both my wife and I have jobs largely affected by DOGE layoffs. While moving things to the state level makes sense for a lot of things, it seems there is no real plan to move things to the state level, only to ax the federal government now while people involved suffer the consequences. I'd give the idea a B, execution an F, and motivation an F.

It isn't political when it's directly screwing with your life. Just throwing this out there.

@BShark cant imagine Flory being hard to work with, with a different cast around him, from what I have seen of him at pressers. :man_shrugging: also cant imagine them thinking he isnt worth the cabbage if other programs think he is. And there just is no way we get someone with Flory’s ceiling at the 5 for next year in the portal.

@benshawks08 to me losing your top productive returner because you aren't willing to pony up is potentially a more dangerous precedent than being strong armed. Certainly since Flory and handlers have legit reasons to be irritated with usage last year. Bill won’t be here forever. Easy to reset expectations re: strong-arming with new coach later.

I still won’t understand if we can’t retain Bidunga. Surely we can offer him a competitive salary and starter minutes at a flagship program. Regardless of etiquette regarding portal, won’t the ends justify the means? Flory is the key to continuity.
