Lets go 3-0 on the new season • Mar 03, 2025 06:40 PM

@SlimShaddy54 maybe. Or maybe small school donors get tired of shelling out big money for recruits if it doesnt translate to success.

I agree with you in principle but the dust hasnt settled. We will see if new normalized behavior leads to a competitive advantage for the more motivated basketball schools.

@dylans healthy take.

It's time (Irrational thought of the day) • Mar 02, 2025 06:33 PM

@wissox that was before Elmarko went down with a season ending injury.
Im assuming he meant with Elmarko in the picture as well.

Its a pipeline. Need continuity. Think of all the players you did appreciate since Embiid / Wiggins. Now consider that their decision to come to Kansas was influenced by their success.

@dylans i understand where you’re coming from.
Thats all you can do, try to understand where people are coming from, not the choice selection of words they use to convey their point ;)

@dylans they were in the Final 4 last year and finished this season with a 27-3 record.

Thats a lot of doing lately.

Bill Self on potentially hiring a GM… • Feb 27, 2025 01:20 AM

@drgnslayr if i recall passing close to the shooting pocket was a problem the last couple years. The only guy close to it was Juan. The rest of the guys seemed uncoached in that area. I remember griping about this exact thing. Every single pass was a little off making the ball move very slowly, slow by a thousand adjustments.

@wissox should have 2 if they didnt get dukejobbed

Bill Self on potentially hiring a GM… • Feb 26, 2025 08:19 PM

@benshawks08 i think i would count the work Mayo does on the offensive end as being mostly off ball. And probably Rylan too. They both are massive improvements over what Timberlake could do off ball.

Other games 2025-2026 • Feb 26, 2025 06:30 PM

@SlimShaddy54 Knueppel is the best player on that team. Tough to stop.

@benshawks08 such a great point.

Bill Self on potentially hiring a GM… • Feb 26, 2025 06:02 PM

@Texas-Hawk-10 often thought Elmarko needed to be on ball, just like Timberlake and Grimes. Very much fingers crossed for Elmarko next year.

KJ looks for space in the air to jump into that isnt inhabited.

KJ basically makes the game a 4v5 in two areas: he can't shoot 3s and he doesn't rebound. That means that Hunter also can't shoot 3s, even if he could do so, because we need him to rebound. So, no 3's from our 2 bigs. Need to get the guard scoring sorted to have balance. I wonder what the leaast number of 3s made in the tournament in the modern era is. We are averaging 7.21 made 3's per game this year. Wait, was it us in 2022? lol.

Also, I appreciate that KJ boxes out, but taking the sum of the parts, if KJ boxes out and nobody else rebounds, thats how we end up -16 in the rebounding column, or whatever it was, even with Hunt pulling 13.

@kjayhawks Its Rylan :) I'm making a point of spelling it right. He's trying.

I feel bad for AJ and wish him the best. I feel like he is not interested in basketball but has always had the raw talent to make it work.

Rylans 4 assists is a nice sign. He seemed to be multidimensional on offense

Maybe everyone has rotation change exhaustion. We got out rebounded badly, but if this formula locks in good chemistry then I guess it is what it is.

We need a few things to stabilize. If the big rotation and effort level can be a settled thing then we can gets the guards sorted.

I have to admit i was in and out of consciousness by the end of the game. What I did see with KJ / Hunt / Flory minutes distro didnt seem unnatural despite box score showing just 15 min, and KJ at 30 with 2 rebounds.

Can someone who drank coffee or something tell me if this felt troubling? I do remember KJ coming out with great energy and 7-13 is solid, but wondering if when he was flagging, Flory could have been utilized more effectively.

There seems to be an increased sense of accountability across the board, and it definitely helps when the biggest dude plays with a chip.

For anyone wondering, we are on the other thread

Hunter ball watching his man. I guess its unrealistic that he will close out away from basket

Nice wholesome dad joke from the announcers “the level of play seems… elevated “

Yep 5-2 good guys

Alright. Im ready for Rylan to go nuclear tonight

Alright real fans, here we go!

In the literal sense of the word fanatic, ie singleminded zeal, I think your self assessments are correct. Personally Im pretty happy with the mix of personalities that cohabitate the ‘buckets.

I think its a close one but we pull it out. Better mojo last game. I do not believe that Hunter isnt capable of lateral movement @drgnslayr as he showed some heart and hustle last game that we hadnt seen in a long time, i thought. I am curious though if he pays for it in the morning.

I was amazed to see Hunter do more than wave at a dude on defense, went after the guy, blocked it and then ripped the rebound. Hunters usually a vertical or nothing post defender.

@nuleafjhawk its a good start. Need an exorcism, maybe a eulogy for “bad bill”, bring in Bruce Weber to get the party started, wave the burning sweet grass.

If this effort travels.
If this effort is consistent.
If this effort and execution is the same against good teams.
If Bill doesnt pucker up and short leash non pet guys against good teams.

Then we have something.
