You're right. Frustrating. Grr. I just hate losing to K-State... again.
However, I'm keeping the big picture in mind, which is that this team is so much better now than it was three years ago that I don't think many would have believed it even possible.
Even holding that fact in mind, I hate this loss. It stings more than most.
But that pain is a symptom of a team who is playing meaningful games in November.. and who is worth the investment of emotional capital.
The overall trajectory of this team suggests the best and the worst is yet to come. I say worst because improvement means enduring even more frustration: 9-2 teams in November are frustrated because they are just outside of the playoffs.
Really was hoping the streak would be broken tonight. 15 years is insane.
We are close, but not there yet.
The field in Maui is special. Looking forward to this tourney and hope we can get 3 wins.

Can you list even 3 Kentucky players you hate/hated?
Can you list 75 Duke players you hate/hated?
This is a good point. But the UK fan base has to make up for the difference. Right now, I'm leaning UK as more hated.
Last night's victory is actually sweetening with age.
Where do you run into Kentucky fans? I’ve maybe seen one die hard in the wild. Rare species in sw Kansas. The brotherhood is more present.
Virtually. And drawing on a lifetime of encounters. Not just 21st century.
Probably need Juan to score 10-12. That's really not asking him to be out of character (as he was last night). It's getting some layups and hitting free throws. If he gets 10 and 10 assists, it's probably a recipe for success, provided the other guys hold serve.
He's such and understated leader. I really can't recall a PG like him.
I'll make a prediction that he will have another triple-double before the end of the season. He's that kind of player and the system is now innate for him.

Lots to learn from this game. Particularly some defensive notes.
Some guys will gain confidence from this. It remains to be seen if Juan becomes more of a scorer.
I'll say it again, but the balance of the top 3-4 is the thing that will make this team hard to beat. Those four have to stay out of foul trouble and healthy. Assuming they do, they will be a force for any team.
Looks like we have three studs and a fourth very athletic dude (not to mention a HOF coach). If anyone on the bench emerges, we are a solid contender. If not, we will be vulnerable to top 25 teams.
The balance alone makes this team better than last year’s.
Maui will be interesting.
Bilas must be worried about a KU - Duke matchup
Dejuan with the quietest most overshadowed 20 points ever
Hunter!
Tough win. Great win
Boom
Free throw practice.
TRob had some great games
I’m sure I will be frustrated with him. But 20/21 is hard to complain about
Dickenson: worth the $$$$
Not always but tonight.
Bilas is a douche
80 points with 3:30 left
Officials eager to make this game go one way.
Jay Bilas is full of crap tonight
Elmarko not ready for primetime.
Hunter didn’t run the floor
Rockem’ sockem’ the rest of the way.
Those freshmen legs are feeling heavy
I don’t see a path that keeps them from scoring 80
Need to somehow slow uk down. Speed of the game favors uk.
Anyone think this game can be salvaged?

We’ve got to catch Kentucky again on the all time wins list, but this article from a month ago says we don’t have to. https://www.ncaa.com/news/basketball-men/article/2023-07-27/college-basketballs-9-winningest-teams ↗
Interesting that the article was posted Oct. 12, and the consequences were handed down Oct. 11. But I think we forfeited 15 games and so an 8 game lead over Kentucky is now a 7 game deficit, so, this game really does matter!
Woah. That's interesting. Even more interesting that the picture they used to represent KU is from the Elite Eight game against Duke that, if I'm not mistaken, is now considered forfeit. They could have used a photo from the 22 championship. Curious selection.
Dajuan will make some 3s as well. Just because he isn't looking now doesn't mean he won't be in the big games. When defenses leave him open (and they will because our first, second and third option will be to find easy buckets), he'll need to take and make some 3s.
@jayballer67 yes. Hit while walking near his residence.

This loss is even bigger now with OSU getting absolutely demolished in Orlando today.
Also hate that Missouri is wrecking Tennessee today as well.
Crappy football day.
Terrible luck. He was having a great start to the season.
Oubre was hit by a vehicle and is hospitalized.
Some guys play better off the bench. Maybe the case for Timberlake.
I like this team. Where have they been?
84-68, but not as close as the score.
I think that was Bean's best game yet. His short passes were accurate. His touch passes were accurate. He's always accurate with the long passes.
He managed the game consistently. Really could not ask for a much better performance.

@wissox Hate to tell you..the NCAAT streak is over already. People can pretend otherwise but the record is based on official results.
I don't want to accept that :-(
No one will accuse this team of being high-octane on offense.
Yesterday, I ran into Home Depot in Santa Clara. It's not the closest one to my house, but it's nearby and it was the closest to the previous errand.
KU had a big sports weekend, so I was sporting my classic, gray, KANSAS sweatshirt.
I was near the front checkout area looking at a display and I hear a voice softly say "hey Jayhawk" and then a pause. I wasn't sure where it was coming from but he then said "you from Lawrence or go there?" I found the source of the voice sitting about 10 feet away on a phone call, trying to get my attention while he worked.
I said "Both. I'm from outside of lawrence and went to KU." He said, "I'm 55." I said "I'm 58".
I said "Did you go to KU?"
"Yeah." He finished his call and said, "You would have been a senior when I was there." And then he stood up, and said, "Lincoln Minor."
I was completely gobsmacked! I immediately knew who he was but was quickly trying to remember which teams and which teammates. I was a senior in 88... I stumbled my way to realizing he was one of the members of the legendary Danny and the Miracles team.
Which led me to take in this surreal scene: I'm standing in this random Home Depot in Santa Clara, California, chatting with a KU basketball player who I had watched as a frenzied fan in AFH many, many times, all those years ago. Meanwhile, the checkout folks were nonchalant and blasé going about their work. To them, he was just the Pro Account Sales Associate, helping the next customer.
He took some time to chat with me a bit about basketball and reminisce about the teams. I got a photo with him and we traded contact info. He said they sometimes watch the KU games at the Home Depot and told me to come by (which I absolutely will.)
When I got home, I realized he played for both Larry Brown and Roy Williams -- two hall of fame coaches. That's pretty amazing.
Reminded me that you never know who the person is behind the counter or in the line next to you, etc. At our age, he looks like a tall gentleman in a Home Depot uniform, unassuming and ready to serve the next customer.
If I hadn't had my sweatshirt on and he hadn't connected, I'd have been standing next to a KU champion and never have known it.
Wow. I had not heard.
He had a big impact on the sport. Positive and negative.
Assuming that they both improve throughout the year, the team will be pretty strong. If WYSIWYG, then we're looking at a second round exit.
Not every new player has gotten better under Self, but many have. Gotta have hope these guys will develop.
It seems that Hunter puts a bigger target on our backs than the #1 ranking. At least with the Illinois fans, it did.
The uniforms deserved a better outcome.
Bean really struggles with short passes and that kind of explains the 2pt non-conversions.
