Bean deserves credit for this win. But so do all the guys around him. Total team win!

Program is definitely moving in the right direction. The core of athletes are to be commended and the coaches must be kept.

Sweet sweet win.

@approxinfinity I don't look at the Chiefs as villains.

Me either. And invoking Houston into this analogy made me throw up in my mouth a little.

Bean is the best backup you could ever hope for. He could start for plenty of D1 programs. It's a luxury to have him with JD. But I still favor JD if both are healthy and at the top of their game... JD's strengths have been called out by others that I totally agree with.

@BeddieKU23 I hear you. It's like riding a rollercoaster in a thunderstorm.

The transfer portal has us constantly guessing who's staying.. who's leaving... who's coming... who's going somewhere else.. I think that's going to be something we have to get used to.

Meanwhile, overshadowing everything for 5 yrs has been the NCAA investigation and threat of penalty. All that waiting — if / when or where lightening will strike— is fatiguing.

Throw in the Arterio Morris debacle and it's been a decidedly un-fun e-ride.

The good thing about this moment is that the storm has passed and the ride is now out of the loopy-loops, the idiot who was about to ruin the ride for everyone was kicked off, and looks like we can look forward to the fun part now.

Being a big baseball fan, and college football fan means I don’t pay too much attention, and the season takes a few weeks to warm up on me. Oddly, the 4th #1 preseason ranking in Bills career makes me pessimistic because all the other years ended in 1st weekend losses.
I loved the early season hype my first year of being a Jayhawk when at Late Night with Larry Brown, the very first Late Night, they confidently proclaimed they’re going to Dallas which they did, and easily could have won it. #26-14foulcount I guess because I was new to KU that season remains my favorite as they just had an incredible season. Loads of talent, legendary coach. Wow, such fun!

I was there too. Great year. Great memories.

The article got me really excited. If it's as good as it sounds, we should be playing a week or two after the spring solstice, hanging another banner, and have another jersey retired.

KU is #1 • Oct 17, 2023 07:11 PM

I thought I saw another poll -- coaches? -- that had Purdue #1 and KU #2.

IARP update • Oct 12, 2023 03:40 PM

It happened. Not AI.

2006-07 was a really good team as well and frequently overlooked in these discussions. (Elite 8 )

I haven't clicked on the link, but if the 2 most recent UConn teams aren't placed between #22 and #25 then he's a bigger idiot than I thought. (and I thought he was a, er. chode)

NFL Season - 2023 • Sep 27, 2023 04:47 PM

@kjayhawks said in NFL Season - 2023:

No idea why Fields had some MVP talk in the offseason. His passer rating was trash last season and is this season.

Amen. I'm wondering why on earth I drafted Fields in my fantasy football league. I benched him for Geno and just picked up Stroud...Two very middle of the road QBs. Hard to believe Fields is my 2 or 3rd choice among those three.

@jayballer67 we know you aren't trying to get the clicks. The YouTubers most definitely are. And lots of other idiots are as well.

It's hard to sort out the noise from the signal because the internet economy rewards both equally.

Interesting Games Today? • Sep 16, 2023 05:28 PM

I'm finding myself watching the K-State/Mizzou game mostly with ambivalence and hope that there's some way both could lose.

I definitely am rooting against Missouri, but it also feels wrong to feel good when K-State has success.

Arterio Morris • Sep 16, 2023 05:22 PM

@Crimsonorblue22 It could. It's good to keep an open mind.

Nonetheless, the optics of this suck. And, there are enough details about this incident already out that it's very easy to conclude that the accuser(s) is/are to be believed.

Due process will give Arterio his fair shake. But he shouldn't be here. He knew his unique 'zero-tolerance' situation and he still put himself in a risky situation.

So give your score this weekend • Aug 29, 2023 08:41 PM

42-12 Good guys

2023 Offensive Line • Aug 29, 2023 05:46 PM

@Crimsonorblue22 I'm in San Jose, California (and therefore, among the few who would love to see Stanford and Cal join the B12 so I could see the Jayhawks more often. It's admittedly an entirely selfish desire.)

2023 Offensive Line • Aug 29, 2023 05:15 AM

I'll be recording it and watching it later. I will be attending my son's HS football game because Friday night is when HS football is played.

PS: I'm feeling a bit curmudgeonly.

2024 Recruiting • Aug 29, 2023 05:01 AM

Welcome to the best program and best coach in college basketball.

(Note: We all knew this, but now it's becoming widely accepted in all regions of the country. Plus, Bill Self has been at KU since these kids were born, so they haven't seen KU lose many games and recently they've seen some BIG wins.)

2023 Offensive Line • Aug 27, 2023 03:05 PM

@stoptheflop Not super happy about Friday games. Friday was reserved for High School Football.

Doesn't matter what anyone thinks except a handful of network executives and their advertisers.

They have a call Monday morning with the ACC. My guess is that this "news" about the B12 is a ploy to urge the ACC to take them. If there isn't an announcement next week, they will have to seriously pursue plan B

2024 Recruiting • Aug 23, 2023 10:27 PM

To me, it's not so bad if top recruits feel like they have to visit Kansas or they might be missing out, even if they really want to go somewhere else. A program with mystique has an X-factor.

@DanR I think that's a foot path that went up the hill between what is now Bailey and Strong (there may be steps there today) and went across the street next to Robinson Gym. I looked online and found another map from 1926 and it had that path on it as well.

2023 Offensive Line • Aug 20, 2023 08:15 PM

@Kcmatt7 I can see you are amped for the season to start. I am too!

Let's GO BIG BLUE. Continue the resurgence and return to relevance!

And the friendly spirit has been a part of the culture for more than 100 years

Stadium Renderings • Aug 17, 2023 07:52 PM

I think the lights have promise, but it could go either way. The lights made me think of wheat.. It's something that the designers could pull off if they incorporate a visual theme throughout the environment. It needs to be deliberate design and not just a trendy thing.

Overall, my biggest concern continues to be parking.

I like the idea of tailgating on the hill... However-- 1) worried about damage to the hill and 2) not sure where people park and how far they have to lug their tailgating stuff.

My vision of tailgating is that you drive in, unload your crap right there... finish about 30 min before the game, pack everything up in the car/truck/trailer, and walk across the parking lot to the stadium entrance.

Stadium Renderings • Aug 15, 2023 10:53 PM

I'd love to see renderings of the inside spaces-- the places where people get food and such. That's a huge opportunity as well.

I'm sure they are focused first on suites, but I think the walkways inside make a big difference on the experience. Just my 2cents.

Stadium Renderings • Aug 15, 2023 10:48 PM

@FarmerJayhawk Cool. (Tailgating didn't really have deep tradition at the stadium anyway, at least not as I recall.)

As long as they are thinking about the experience of how people get in and out for the variety of events that they intend to host there. If you build something this awesome, you want the whole experience to be awesome.

Was there any mention of hosting concerts there?

Stadium Renderings • Aug 15, 2023 10:40 PM

@FarmerJayhawk @Kcmatt7 I'm not just thinking of game day.. I'm thinking of the parking for all the businesses and convention space that they are putting in there.

If you have a business there, you don't want your patrons to have to walk a quarter mile or more to get to your door.

Stadium Renderings • Aug 15, 2023 10:37 PM

Do you think the design suggests that they want to discourage tailgating at the stadium?

Stadium Renderings • Aug 15, 2023 08:46 PM

I love it.

One question: I've been looking at the renderings and trying to figure out where the parking is for this complex... I mean, it's got to be able to handle 50k or more, right? A lot of the former parking lots and parking space at the bottom of the hill have been used for facilities.

I'm looking at the buildings along the street in the new concept designs and I don't see what looks like a parking garage.

2023-24 Non-confernce Schedule • Aug 11, 2023 05:17 AM

@mayjay agreed. It looks like the civic center where the games are played was extensively damaged.

Sounds pretty grim and I would also expect them to move this tournament to Honolulu rather than take resources away from critical infrastructure and shelter, etc.

Streaming Services • Aug 11, 2023 01:08 AM

Disney+ is great but announced they are raising the subscription 20-30%. My point is not to dissuade you because I switched xfinity cable for YouTubeTV a year or so ago and it has been great. I probably saved a bit of $$ in the first few months. But as was mentioned, Google increased the price of YTTV and Netflix increased and now Disney+. So there may not be much water to squeeze out of this rock soon.

2023-24 Non-confernce Schedule • Aug 11, 2023 01:02 AM

I suspect that tourney means a lot to the local economy so they will likely do whatever they can to have things ready. I haven’t heard whether the campus and the arena were burned.

Puerto Rico! • Aug 07, 2023 07:33 PM

I think my takeaways are mostly positive. There were some mistakes that will be cleaned up as the season draws near. Things like the inbounds and getting pulled into trash talking, holding onto the ball, and positions on offense and defense... Free throw shooting has to improve.

The athleticism is impressive at all positions, so the team could be elite at fast breaks and elite at defense.

The team is already good. Really good. If their improvement curve is above average, they should be a FF contender.

The Big 12 conference • Aug 05, 2023 10:22 PM

@kjayhawks Totally agree. The impact on the non-rev sports is very much TBD. I think it's going to be adverse...

Welcome Nick Timberlake! • Aug 05, 2023 10:06 PM

@Bosthawk, that's just awesome.

The Big 12 conference • Aug 05, 2023 10:03 PM

KU / AZ has Saturday afternoon eastern/noon pacific on CBS written all over it.

Imagine UNC/Duke, followed by KU/AZ. That's the kind of lineup that tv execs dream of.

Puerto Rico! • Aug 05, 2023 09:58 PM

Good to see Alonzo J interviewed at halftime. Good memories of the 1991 run.

The Big 12 conference • Aug 04, 2023 09:55 PM

BYU and Utah in the same conference will create drama in Utah. It's the kind of drama that sounds like a pin dropping in the rocky mountain forest, but it's about the only rivalry created by all of this realignment.

Also-- this conference now has quite a few games at high altitude. Not sure if that's ever a factor, but it is unique in the P5 --- er P4.

I guess UConn is UGone.

Plus, bus rides and short plane trips to all. Better for the student-athletes; lower costs, lower impact on environment.

One can dream.

Speedy team. Very fast. Very fun to watch when they are hitting.

Would like to know that our 3pt shooting will be reliably good.
