Another issue is there are 47 murders a day in the US it’d require a whole new section to the paper! And what kind of person religiously reads the murder section of the paper?!? 😝
@wissox It’s a reflection of society. Another way to look at it is the old George Carlin take (I’m paraphrasing poorly)- 30 people got killed? Wow! It’s in Bolivia - pffft who cares? It’s 3 states over? Now that’s interesting! It’s 3 blocks over? That’s got my full attention, honey get the car we’ve got some bodies to see!!!
i.e. the closer it is to home (the more it could be you - looks like you, has a similiar neighborhood, similiar lifestyle, more relatable) the more interesting it is to you.
Not every death is newsworthy. Not every murder is either. Hell the police don’t even care about some murders, why should the general public?
News outlets aren’t about reporting the news, but rather garnering ratings. It’s what sells that matters. So I guess your question is why doesn’t the general public care about every single murder? In a nutshell there are too many to care about them all.
I’ve lost two people close to me to murder, as much as I cared about them I don’t think the general public would find either case overly interesting. (There wasn’t much news coverage of either. One murderer is being tried soon. The other never will.) On the other hand I’m dealing with crazy af neighbors who are threatening the life of my 8yo boy and the local news would like to interview us about that (not bloody likely). It’s all about what story sells.
Hmm. The plot thickens.
Hmm. The plot thickens.
So is Stanley the assumed reason Williamson didn’t sign?
They are really trying to avoid that 100th loss! 11 more wins to go.
@mayjay I hope not!
I’ve been out in gusts up to 119mph. He’s acting. (He’s leaning with the wind smh wrong way)
It’s funny kinda like when the people walked by the weather lady in the canoe during Katrina (I think). No doubt it was much worse somewhere at some time, just not there and then as he’s portraying.
Hope it’s like that for you. @mayjay
10 year contracts haven’t been kind to Notre Dame. Beaty will have been given long enough to see if there is any improvement by conference play. Kind of a Hue Jackson type situation.
Plus he has that subliminal message going on for any of you fantasy guys. Ad-alberto Mondesi.
@JayHawkFanToo I’d take Terry Allen right now.
Have you seen how poor the education is in Kansas public schools? I think the time, money, and effort can be better spent in the classroom.
The reason you don’t see big time recruits come out of sparsely populated western ks isn’t lack of recruiting, it’s lack of talent. The good ones get picked up. Two WNBA players have been produced close by. Very little nfl or nba talent. Genetics and lack of population are the biggest limiting factors it’s generally not a exposure and development issue.
@JayHawkFanToo Maybe, but it’s not a one year blow up. This is three years revenue increase for aTm and three years of decline for Texas to get to this point.
@mayjay sounds like the insurance company will be paying for a new roof soon! Stay safe!!!
You mean the bar up the street with the kick ass burgers didn’t make the list because it only had one location in a town of 1500? We need an electorate college of food voting to make this fair. Lol
Ok just one more fond memory.

Dion Rayford, that Taco Bell screwed up every one of my orders too! Thanks, man!!! 😂 😂 😂
@DanR Thankfully none of my children were conceived there.
McCullum Hall was a dump when I lived there in the 90s but I’m kinda surprised they didn’t just remodel it like Templin Hall had been done. The structure was fine.

He’s a dapper nerd.
Texas A&M has supplanted Texas as America's most valuable college football program.
A&M's rise was attributed to an increase in athletic department contributions, along with more ticket revenue and conference revenue from the Southeastern Conference.
All restaurants are Taco Bell in the future. Haven’t you watched Demolition man? Lol what a bunch of malarkey!
I hate that the coaching staff couldn’t reel him in. Peters is an elite talent. He’s just a headcase that was causing too much discourse in the locker room. It sounds like Andy had to get drastic to get his guys attention. Seems to be working as I don’t see any disciplinary issues currently.
I believe Peters is the only player Andy has ever suspended a game for being a jerk. http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap3000000889782/article/marcus-peters-suspension-also-due-to-rift-with-coach ↗
Or
A report published earlier today written by Mike Freeman of Bleacher Report cited unnamed league assistants and team officials as saying part of the reason for the Chiefs' freefall as of late was due to a lack of disciplinary action, particularly surrounding cornerback Marcus Peters. The report accused the Chiefs of "refusing to seriously discipline" Peters throughout the season for "a variety of offenses and lack of control," and that as a result it sent a message to other players that they could get away with the same things.
Talib is going to shoot Peters after he refuses to tackle some dude in the playoffs and it costs them the game. Of course this will be after they have given the offense a second chance because Suh kicked someone in the junk.
I’m just glad they didn’t get Mack too.
Wasn’t Serena playing a woman? Gotta adjust to the judges/refs.
Dotson’s the teams best dresser!
My bad not Lance (although that stuff is kinda funny - calling KSU to spite KU after Henry was signed) but DeShawn Stevenson. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/DeShawn_Stevenson ↗ Didn’t play a game for KU because of SAT scores being disputed by the NCAA and he just went pro straight out of HS. I was pissed.
Moore’s defense scares me more than anything else. I think scoring won’t be much of an issue once they establish an identity. I hope Dotson or Moore can cut off the attack at the point on D. That completely changes the game. If it’s no D from the point guard position watch out.
Probably more like Garrett for Dedric as KJ slides over from the 3 to the 4.
Sanctions may be looming for Jimbo if he can’t get his recruits to STFU.
Billy Preston or Lance Stevenson. Probably Billy
@jaybate-1.0 46. 49 is the all time record held by Idaho State.
@JayHawkFanToo I would think if there is $6.5 trillion missing from one year, there is more.
@JayHawkFanToo and if you keep reading:
While the documents are incomplete, original government sources indicate $21 trillion in unsupported adjustments have been reported for the Department of Defense and the Department of Housing and Urban Development for the years 1998-2015.
Unfortunately it’s agaibs the city ordinance here to have an electric (or razor wire) fence. Motion activated sprinklers will have to do. 😂
Heck just grabbing the dang rebound so you don’t have to play more defense should make the team better by limiting the other teams opportunities.
Perimeter pressure has been lacking the last few years and I’m not sure if it’s just due to athleticism or a lack of an inside defensive presence.
It would be nice to be able to get stops and not have to rely so heavily on just out scoring teams.
@approxinfinity If it makes you feel any better, my oldest boy is extremely polite always says please and thank you always puts others first. And if you don’t respect him his three-year-old little brother will punch you in the face. LOL
Here’s a teaser.
Start with the fact that Udoka Azubuike made 77 percent of his 2s last season while carrying a normal offensive workload. Should Azubuike develop a jump shot, it would be great for him and fantastic for Kansas fans and the NBA personnel who will be evaluating him this season. But we shouldn't understate the damage that a 77 percent 2-point shooter does to an opposing defense. Azubuike is getting as many points per 100 attempts as would a 51 percent 3-point shooter. That'll do.
Better still, Azubuike will have a ton of help. Freshman Quentin Grimes is projected as a 2019 lottery pick, and Memphis transfer Dedric Lawson already has 65 Division I games under his belt wherein he was his team's featured scorer (and he still seems to possess untapped 3-point potential). Lagerald Vick hit 52 percent of his 2s and 43 percent of his 3s for KU in the 2018 NCAA tournament. California transfer Charlie Moore is a plug-and-play point guard, unless freshman Devon Dotson fills that need for Bill Self.
If the Jayhawks stay healthy and play to their potential (and especially if Azubuike or Marcus Garrett or both improve at the free throw line), this should be the best offense in the nation in 2019.
Didn’t the government just announce a fifth branch of the military, the space force? Or did I dream that?
And then there was Wiggins...
KU athletics says:
FOUR ESPN BIG MONDAYS NO SURPRISE AS KANSAS COMPLETES 2018-19 SCHEDULE
For the 13th year in a row Kansas men's basketball will be featured four times on ESPN Big Monday, according to the 2018-19 Big 12 Conference schedule released by the Conference Wednesday. And for the 27th-consecutive season, dating back to 1992-93, every game on the Kansas men's basketball schedule will be televised.
Kansas will have 31 of its 33 contests televised on the ESPN family of networks. Those 31 games will also be available via the ESPN app. Among those 31 games are the six games (two exhibition, four early-season) produced by the Jayhawk Television Network. KU fans can now see those six games throughout the state of Kansas and in the Kansas City Metro Area on KMCI (38 The Spot, Kansas City), Spectrum Sports, Midco Sports Network, and Cox Cable. They will also be available blackout-free, nationwide on ESPN+.
CBS will broadcast two games – Saturday, Feb. 2, against Texas Tech in Allen Fieldhouse and Saturday, March 2, at Oklahoma State.
The Big 12 opener for Kansas will be against Oklahoma on Wednesday, Jan. 2, in Allen Fieldhouse. Kansas, 14-time defending Big 12 regular-season champion, will play each conference foe twice in the round-robin format that began in 2011-12.
6 straight, wow
@JayHawkFanToo yeah guys ranked 20-50 should be a hot commodity for KU going forward. #200-500 not so much. Braun is a head scratcher.
The Royals put a whoopin’ on the hapless Orioles last night 9-2 moving them just out of last place in the run differential stat. It’s been a rough year.
@BShark one of them. Was it Boise St. or some mid major? Just another sign of the ineptness of the coaching staff whomever it was. (Probably cozart)
Isn’t Michael Cummings the qb who transferred for his sr year and led his new team to a bowl game? Smh the whole team needs an overhaul no qb will succeed without help.
@Barney I ageee. I come up with a 20% cap hit, but the experts say 14%. Either way it’s the price you have to pay for an elite qb.
