Wow. Just wow.
Graham played in NO and Seattle as far as I can recall.
Greetings Jayhawks and Rock Chalk!
I am thrilled to address you for the first time as the Director of Athletics at the University of Kansas. Over these first few weeks I have experienced firsthand the tremendous spirit and passion KU alumni, faculty, staff and students have for this great University. Our history and tradition truly make this institution special.
As we enter the academic and competitive year, our coaches, student-athletes and staff are focused on competition – competition in the classroom, competition in their athletic pursuits and competition to engage in and make a positive impact in our communities. It is our expectation that we will continue to represent the flagship institution of KANSAS in a manner in which Jayhawks around the world will be even more proud.
Our number one priority will be the well-being of our 460-plus student-athletes and their individual student-athlete experience. We have the privilege and duty to educate these young minds, assist in their maturity, sharpen their athletic skills and produce proud University of Kansas graduates.
We have begun the process of identifying any and all obstacles that may exist that would prevent us from providing an amazing student-athlete experience. Two areas that directly impact this experience are revenue production and facility enhancements. Over the next few months we will engage in deep conversations about growing our membership in the Williams Education Fund and establishing a clear vision for our capital improvements, including David Booth Kansas Memorial Stadium, Allen Fieldhouse and Hoglund Ballpark.
You can make an immediate impact on the student-athlete experience by coming to David Booth Kansas Memorial Stadium this fall to cheer on the crimson and blue. The young men on this team are dedicated to competing for KANSAS. Like you, they are Jayhawks; they love representing KANSAS and they need your support.
For those who have purchased season tickets, thank you. For those who haven’t, please consider helping us break the cycle and join us this Saturday and all season long.
The University of Kansas boasts some 350,000 alumni worldwide. As we tour the state and travel nationally I hope to meet many of you. Over the last month I have learned what you already know: This is a very special place, and I am grateful for the opportunity to represent you as the Director of Athletics at the University of Kansas!
Rock Chalk!

Director of Athletics
@Barney cap math is jacked up. His cap hit is about 14% of the 177 mil cap when lady years carry over is factored in. His old contract was 13% of the cap when he signed it and it was considered a team friendly deal. 🤷♂️
@Crimsonorblue22 Don’t they sell tickets s now? Or assign seats? I seem to remember some policy change after the Wiggins-mania, but I haven’t been in a couple decades.
What happened? The Royals players are doing awesome! Ben Zobrist hit a walkoff. Kendrys Morales hit homeruns in 7 straight games. Oh yeah they don’t play in KC. Hoz sucks, so dodged a bullet there. I’d hate to have Hoz and Gordon both under big contracts. Crippling...it could be worse.
@Kcmatt7 More importantly have you seen his wife? I think he’ll be okay with her supporting him!
@Crimsonorblue22 only in spirit. I hope to be able to watch it on ESPN+.
@Crimsonorblue22 Usually here you just have to know which channel is the Jayhawk network and when/what the programming is. The guide rarely gets corrected on Pioneer cable. (Which sucks ‘cause I don’t have cable and forget which channel is which on the occasion I have to bum my parents TV/cable)
@Crimsonorblue22 A year at KU and he’d have been a top 10 pick. I think he’ll be okay. A bit of a head case anyway.
@wissox I thought Bragg transferred?
The fountains sprang a leak during the fourth inning. Relievers in the Royals bullpen jumped and yelled to alert game officials and maintenance workers, triggering the stoppage.
"I thought I was back in the minor leagues," Indians manager Terry Francona said. "Nobody knew what was going on."
As maintenance personnel worked to stop the flow of water, more than a dozen grounds crew members armed with squeegees wicked water from the warning track as it poured from under the fence. They also created a sandbag barrier to keep standing water from reaching the outfield grass.
Keller shrugged off the unusual delay, which came after Yan Gomes' two-out double, and struck out Greg Allen to get out of the fourth inning with the lead intact.
@wissox The fountain behind the center field wall broke and was flooding.
Funny stuff guys. I don’t know if I buy his story. Harper was about to get crushed and he knew it.
Yay! Still happy about this one!
@wissox Dang, he really seemed to love the hawks. Too bad he didn’t develop as hoped.
@DanR Looks like you’re getting your money’s worth tonight! Long game, sorry to hear about the delay.
@DanR I sat in the champions louge? in the 2nd level of Busch stadium. It was very nice - included 3 buffets, 2 open bars and had their WS trophies on display. The stadium was completely full of people wearing red. Wacha was a rookie and threw a no-no thru 8 2/3. The weather was perfect for a fall game they were in contention for 1st place in the NL, I believe. The game was lots of fun.
It’s a stark contrast to the Royals games I’ve been to, but I’m still a Royals fan. Sometimes I wonder why, but I’m still a Royals fan through and through. I’m not in the least a Cardinals fan. I make fun of my cousins who are for being bandwagon fans...they’ve never been to the new Busch stadium, they have no idea how right they are.
@kjayhawks An educated guess says yes, but it’s just a guess based on how it normally works.
@wissox I went to a Rookies game in the 90s and was not In the least bit jealous of that team. That was when they were decent too with Dante Botchet and Andres Galaraga both hitting homeruns during the game. Fun, but the stadium and crowd was uninspiring.
The new Busch stadium is very nice. I’d love to go to Wriggley as well as Boston and NY for games.
@Barney Worst thing I ever did to my Royals fandom was go to a game in St. Louis. They outclass the Royals at every stop. The stadium, the players, the WS championships, the present and the future. But I’m still a monogamous Royals fan patiently waiting for the good times to come back around.
@Crimsonorblue22 nope. Just a little guy 2.5ft with 8 buttons. In the center of the field is a nest. 10 babies were spotted yesterday. Yuck
Got one for ya today @Crimsonorblue22. It was out sunning by a soybean field. They’re hard to see in the 3-4ft tall beans!
Yeah. Let’s blackout the areas where our most feverish fans and donors are. Brilliant.
Long is already better than zenghole.
Heck yeah!
Wright was under the goal posts watching Chalmers shot from the stands. I think you mean Arthur. The difference in game experience playing together is staggering in my opinion. Chalmers, Robinson, Rush, Kauhn, and Arthur started most of 2 years together. Throw in Jackson and Collins and all the main players had 2 years of game experience together.
I hope Moore’s Cal numbers are more an indication of what he’s capable of than his poor showing in Italy. I worry he’ll get abused on defense.
Dotson and Grimes are the players that need to develop quickly or a national title will rapidly slip away.
I’m counting on Dedric to be as advertised.
Best since is different than better than. I hope so, but these guys are all new together. Most of the 08 team had 3 years experience together.
I’m guardedly optimistic, but want to see them gel before I put any money on a championship.
@JayHawkFanToo I’d wait until they play a game before anointing them the best Bill Self team ever. The synergy of RussRob and Chalmers on defense is something we have yet to see again. But I really hope you’re right!
@KUSTEVE I really hope Dok has worked on his weakside help defense this offseason. It would be monumental if he lives up to his defensive potiental.
Come on guys, there is a politics thread so we (I) don’t have to read this junk.
@KUSTEVE on the other hand I keep wondering if a zone with Dok in the middle is the key to stopping (slowing down) Zion.
@wissox Cool and overcast here today as well. I haven’t gotten out of my rain suit all day. It’s more of a sweatsuit at this point than a rain suit though. Sorry about the game, hope you can catch another one soon!
@BeddieKU23 Be that is it may, that’s still impressive. I don’t know if any of the current Kansas roster could carry that much of the scoring load, maybe Dedric. I really hope Duke’s freshmen play like freshmen in the tournament.
@mayjay :)
@Kcmatt7 Yes, my point is the QB isn’t the whole issue. The entire team is trash- that’s coaching and recruiting failure.
UK’s team melts down after an early season loss to KU destroys their fragile psyche.
KU’s continued dominance of the Big12 gets at least one coach fired and brings about apathy at 3 other schools.
Kansas will hand Iowa State it’s keister so bad it’s fans will stop whining and start singing praises of the Jayhawks. (Realizing it’s better to give it your all and lose to the best than to cry about losing to a team you “should’ve beat”)
Higgins will don a KU t-shirt (that he burns on the court at half time)
@KUSTEVE Makes it a bold prediction I suppose. Funny how some won’t make any predticitions, but are quick to shoot them down.
Hard to believe but Dayne Krist got some nfl interest after playing at KU.
@wissox Have fun at the game!
@JayHawkFanToo Wrote what I meant. Meant what I wrote.
Not a decision I had to make given my limited athleticism and skills, but if the choice is start at Duke or be a bench player at Kansas- I’m a Jayhawk every time. Guess that makes me a homer and I’m willing to bet Mitch is too. He’s living the dream!
@wissox Still just one game out of the #1 pick. Gotta choke and win some games. Lol
Dedric Lawson 1st team all American.
Doke 2nd team all American
Grimes Big12 freshman of the year
Bill Self National coach of the year
KU will cut down the nets in April.
@KUSTEVE He’s no Brady Morningstar, but he’ll do.
@approxinfinity Here’s what I had to do:
Doesn’t sound good for KU:
Paul Biancardi
Basketball Recruiting ESPN
Espn no.8 Josh Green cut his final list to six schools. He gives his thoughts to Espn on each program. Villanova: "A great school. They have an extremely successful history, especially over the last few years, winning two national championships. They have a great coaching staff who are very good at developing the team and players and helping them get to the next level." UNLV: "An opportunity for me to be able to get back out on the court with my brother Jay again. This means a lot to me as he has helped me so much in my progression as a basketball player, and I'd love for us to win a Mountain West title and help keep the program getting better and better." UNC: "A program with amazing history and they are consistently successful both as a team, and also at developing players. Growing up as a kid it was my dream school, so it's very cool for me to be able to say I could have the opportunity to play there, and for Roy Williams." Kansas: "Also a school with a history of success, and they have had many good guards come through the school and achieve great things." Arizona: "They have been with me since the start. They have a great program and staff who have really developed players well and have been very successful every year in the Pac 12." USC: "They have already got about the best recruiting class in my age group, and will be a top team in 2019. Their program is very strong and I know I would come out a much better player."
Bill Self’s rug is actually a magic carpet that will carry us to the Final Four.
@wissox This is more like it for me:
