Wow! The Cavs just traded half their roster. The Kyrie trade keeps looking worse and worse; all the Cavs have left from it are a couple of draft picks and now Hood and Hill.

@Crimsonorblue22 ...Awfully appropriate.
So which guard(s) is likely to leave early? Cunliffe, Vick, Newman, Moore? (Need another scholly or two if Romeo is interested)
@BShark So where do you think he's going?
Tech is ranked the highest theyāve ever been ranked at #7, have spent the most weeks in the top ten they ever have in one season, and is likely having the best season theyāve ever had. That being said they have only made the tournament 16 times total, have 8 wins in the NCAA tournament total, and have never won a Big 12 title.
Best season ever and tied with a down KU team atop the Big12. We are truly spoiled.
@Crimsonorblue22 no lol, I was hauling trash off, parked my wagon in front of the dumpster and was standing between the two hanger that the trash truck grabs. My dog ran out of the open gate and I took off after her made it 3/4 of a step,
banged my kneecap and crumpled up. Tara came back and licked my face before returning to the yard (good girl), but I had no idea a simple Bruise could cause swelling in my knee for over a month!
@HighEliteMajor I hope you're right. But when has Bill been straightforward about injuries in season? It's tactical.
Last summer I hit my knee mid stride a nob on a dumpster. It was just bruised, but I had swelling, soreness, and somewhat limited motion for 6 weeks. Just a bruise I assume, but it was a mf'er to walk off.
Graham has a bone bruise on his knee. Itāll take time to heal.
@Fightsongwriter I donāt know if the misses made the coach or the player pay more attention, but either way it seems to be working.
Iād reply, āWe will continue to recruit the best players we can to fill out the roster giving us the best chance at a national championship. Competition makes us all better, therefore starting positions are earned not given. If you come in and earn a starting position itās yours to lose on merit, not to a promise.ā
So two teams the Chiefs beat played for all the marbles? The winning team had the Chiefs old o coordinator as coach and backup quarterback as the starter. And the Chiefs canāt win a home game against the Titans?!? Ugg
@drgnslayr I didnāt properly answer the question you posed. I think KU feeds off of the crowd more than most teams. KU is used to playing in front of large crowds home and away all year long. The away crowds are loud trying to energize the home team, but it gets KU going too. The Allen Fieldhouse crowd is fantastic and really knows how to get Kansas going! But you start to see it in the Sprint Center when the crowd is further away and the students arenāt there to pump youthful energy into the crowd. This lack of energy and a split crowd (some March fans donāt even have a horse in the race) really shows up in the tournament. And I think our guys suffer for it. Many if not most teams including all midmajors have played in front of a 1/2 full house at some time with little to no crowd noise, not KU. This dead crowd leads to a lack of energy and urgency. KU gains the advantage the louder the crowd as the other team usually gets stars in their eyes while Kansas executes.
Not an excuse just an observation.
Heck I was at the Omaha game and the crowd was loud until KU scored 100 and 1/2 went to sit in the parking lot...
Watching games KU doesnāt play in the crowds are mostly sad. KU, Duke, UNC, and UK almost always pull good crowds on the road, but most other programs donāt inspire large crowds even at home.
Aside from the OU free throw debacle Iāve been fairly impressed with Bill this season. I think Dok is actually shooting better free throws for it so maybe that wasnāt such a bad deal either. I wonāt say it was orchestrated, but rather a learning moment that was capitalized upon.
There are so many weakness this year itās impossible to address them all, let alone address every little nit-picking detail (as Bill would like) and keep a super thin rotation anywhere near playing condition. A one seed is looking less likely, so itās going to be a 6 game tournament not 5 as it has been the last couple of years. Not a good deal for such a short rotation. There is still time to get back up on that one line, but it will be very difficult to do without further wearing down the team.
@Crimsonorblue22 At least itās correctable?!?
@HighEliteMajor Lowering the prices does nothing for the student. Students season tickets are cheap. Thatās not at all what I mean.
Yes, itās a good price point for the University. Have you by chance priced season tickets and the donation required to get you out of the bleachers in the corners? Iām nowhere near wealthy so an $80,000 ādonationā isnāt happening. But feel free to buy those tickets (please donāt buy Romeo a car though).
If KU really wants more racous fans just lower ticket prices to encourage a different set of fans in. We may get to see someone enjoy the game instead of worrying about the fleecing they took to get into the door.
Personally I think itās still great in person. TV has never done it justice. Allen Fieldhouse is the best basketball arena and experience bar none, but Iām sure it could be even better.
@Crimsonorblue22 Of his shadow? THATāS why Iāve got 6 more weeks of winter (basketball)?!?
@Crimsonorblue22 The Fieldhouse is a rockinā every time Iāve been there (about once or twice per season) the last 25 years. Iām all for cell phone scramblers though, I miss half time shows.
The problem isnāt the arena, itās the team. They strike fear into exactly no one (thatās not rooting for them). If the team defense would pick up this would be one scary team. 20-0 spurts in less than 3 minutes, but only if they figure out how to stop someone on D.
I get ashamed of many of our fans during losses. Too many entitled fans living up to the snob hill moniker. Letās try to be gracious to have such an upstanding program to root for even in a ādownā year.

Hope the guys can stay properly motivated!
@drgnslayr Tyshawn was horrible shooting in big arenas until his Sr. Year. I donāt know of anyone on this current team that had such huge splits.
@BeddieKU23 mmm Funyuns
Devonte makes the first three he shoots most games. He just gets worn down quickly.
Alex was 23rd in the league on average passing distance in the air. Hill distorts those long ball numbers as Smith never had that kind of success before last season. Just goes to show you how good he couldāve been with weapons around him, but he canāt do it himself.
@FarmerJayhawk Newman or a freshman at point guard pick your poison.
Dotson, Grimes, Newman, Dedric, Dok
Would be my guess if the roster holds as it is today.
Remember Thigpen? You can do much worse than Alex Smith.
Brodie Croyle, Elvis Grbac, Damon Huard, Tyler Palko, yuck!
@BShark Yeah, Iāve got 1474 movies on VUDU. Iām not claiming theyāre all good though. Like @kjayhawks kids and work have been very intrusive on the ol movie time.
@kjayhawks Iāve seen enough of Curious George this week for a lifetime.
Fruits of Frank?
The Hitmanās Body Guard is pretty darn funny if you havenāt seen it yet.
@kjayhawks I love The Green Mile and Goodwill Hunting also! Fantastic movies; canāt believe I omitted them.
They can have Sandstorm techno is horrible. I love that it helps whip the idiots into a frenzy. The mob mentality takes over and the f ku chant comes out so the whole nation can instantly identify the quality of character that is a KSU fan.
@Fightsongwriter Because they think KU cheated to get him in the first place. I donāt feel stained for Prestonās presence, but they feel as though heās a black eye. Proof of KUās cheating during recruiting, so they can justify loosing again and again. The other team is cheating, itās not us.
Itās also referred to as a ālosers limpā. Purple is truly the color of envy.
@nuleafjhawk KC shouldāve drafted a gunslinging QB earlier. The competition (Mahomes) was slinging the ball downfield with great success giving Alex no choice but to follow suit. Alex was forced out of his comfort zone and he excelled for it.
Hopefully Alex will be able to continue his recent success in DC, but they donāt have a tight end as good as Kelce, or a deep threat as good as Hill, or a running back as good as Hunt.
Iād expect Alex to come in around 3,600 yards and 22 tds with 4 ints next season. Mahomes 3900 yards, 24 tds and 12 ints (I hope Iām wrong here).
My top 5 superhero movies:
1. Batman (with Keaton)
2. The Dark Knight
3. Iron Man
4. Captain America: The Winter Soldier
5. Avengers
Deadpool would be #1 for me but was on my top movies list.
Top 5 Vampire movies:
1. From Dusk till Dawn
2. Interview with a Vampire
3. Nosferatu
4. Daybreakers
Thatās all Iāve got. I was tricked into reading the first Twilight on a fligh. Worst written book Iāve ever spent more than 10 minutes with....so Twilight not so much. Glitter vampires, ānuff said.
My top 5 favorite movies:
1. Pulp Fiction
2. Fight Club
3. Shawshank Redemption
4. Princess Bride
5. Matrix (inspite of Keanu) bullet time is still pretty darn cool
Next five:
1. Patton
2. Deadpool
3. A Christmas Story
4. Back to the Future (Iāll watch this anytime itās on)
5. Ghostbusters
@Crimsonorblue22 Pick one up for me! :)
@JayHawkFanToo re-read his explantaion/math. About 2/3rds the way down he clearly states exactly what you are and figures it into his math. Except the 1 foot for the rim. But really WTFC?
@BShark #1 passer rating of 105, QBR he was 7th.
@JayHawkFanToo @justanotherfan figures 4ft for the backboard spacing. You figure 5. Either way heās nearly 27-30+ ft from the rim or 3 steps + behind the line. Itās a circus shot and he routinely makes it.
@Fightsongwriter Thatās what Iād like to believe, but Iām afraid @HighEliteMajor is closer to the truth. Not much (if any) practice time devoted to Dokās free throws.
If I recall correctly Bill has said in the past that free throw shooting is on the player to get those reps in after practice. Iām afraid the OU free throwing debacle (0-8 if you count the back end of one and oneās) was just so bad he had to change coarse. But credit the man for adapting once again.
Self was drug kicking and screaming out of the hi-low, hesitant to allow his team to shoot threes, has a methodical press break , and doesnāt practice free throws. Now KU runs a 4-1 beautifully (and itās still improving). They rains threes, even in transition. The press break against WVU was more aggressive. And Dokās form is miraculously changing mid-season.
The changes Billās made from when he first arrived to now is amazing and I look forward to his continuing evolution as a coach. Watch out! Bill is getting better every day.
Mahomes currently projects as the 19th best QB. Alex as the 21st best....I know projections, but on paper at least it shouldnāt be a downgrade even in year one. What will be way different is the floor and ceiling have gone from fairly close tougher to waaaaay far apart. The bad games will be epic fails; the good games will be amazing. Hopefully it translates to much more post season success, time will tell.
@justanotherfan Yes I agree. What I really donāt know is Dokās ability to play ācenter fieldā Iām not sure how heād respond to the space. It would require a ton of discipline to not get pulled up to the free throw line.
@justanotherfan Like KSUās big man (canāt remember his name)? Iām just curious to see if itās an effective D situationally.
So was the OU free throw debacle for Bill or Udoka? Did Bill put Dok out there to teach a lesson? Or did Bill get taught? Either way we fans win as the problem is being addressed now and not after a loss in March.
@nuleafjhawk 7th in QBR. Pro-bowl after the fact.
I am so freaking amazed at the success Alex had given where KC was when he arrived. However, it is time to move on due to salary cap concerns and a promising young gun on the sideline. I am afraid KC isnāt too far from a complete rebuild on defense. The D has too many old players.
With the signing of the CB from Washington will Revis still have a job? (The Kendall Fuller wasnāt named in the initial reporting and just a 3rd rounder for Alex wouldāve been awful.)
@mayjay Not that Iāve noticed. Itās not even on espns website. The only reason I know is because it was on the ticker during the ku/KSU game.
