@mayjay There you go. Accept whatever punishment is coming in the soon to be cancelled 2021 season.
It only took one year of Miles to truly see how bad Beaty was.
Covid-19 likely saves the astricks management from a missing any games. Lol baseball is a joke. Systemic cheating promoted from within the organization and no punishment for the players. Sick sad world we live in.
Great representation of the modern jerk - win at all costs, deny responsibility for their actions, ignore the damage done to others, claim to be better than everyone...while cheating. Makes for a great heal - itās awesome when the bad guys are so easy to identify, makes cheering for a sport you donāt care for possible, just root against the a-holes.
Wow look at the list of wonderful coaches weāve been blessed to witness - Terry Allen, Turner Gill, Charlie Weis, david beaty, oh my! A veritable whoās who lost!!!

Naismith! Highest
Itās only been around 2 years? Crazy that itās considered the most prestigious if thatās the case. Name change?
Blake Griffin played two.
Gooden was NPOY. Nothing left to prove, but a āchip wouldāve been nice.
Raefās Jr year the squad was one double overtime 2pt loss away from being undefeated in the regular season.
@FarmerJayhawk I havenāt seen, has the stateās top paid employee donated any cashola?
I donāt think two bigs will be a big part of the plan, but Iāll bet Mitch plays the 4 next to Dave several minutes a game...assuming thereās basketball next season.
KU was killing it down low for a period in there - Pollard, LaFrentz, Collison. All very nice.
@FarmerJayhawk Hope so, but itās pretty darn hard to put a cat back in the bag.
@Texas-Hawk-10 millionaires crying poverty rings hollow. Itās different for the salt of the earth who could actually miss meals, not just have to cut the caviar out.
I really donāt feel the least bit sorry for colleges. The athletic budgets are bloated beyond being responsible. Now the guy living paycheck to paycheck? Yikes, heās in trouble. The door to door salesman? Ouch. Waitresses - not so great.
@wissox probably a bit of recency bias. Itās easy to forget how good LaFrentz was for 4 years.
You get a Covid19 redshirt and you get a covid19 redshirt and you get a covid19 redshirt....
Worst case scenario- KU in line for the number one overall seed, plays no games due to a pandemic. Leaving nothing but what ifās for all.
@BeddieKU23 Coronavirus?
@BShark Good for them I guess?
I hope our two top rated recruits from last season pan out. Enaruna and Wilson are both pretty rough for top 100 talent.
Otto isnāt brought up much. Nor Charlie B Black. I need to do more digging myself.

Kansas-Purdue from 1994 sweet 16 when Glenn Robinson is on BTN at 3 and at 7. Not the most painful loss we've had so I might watch.
That one still stings. For the first 15 years of my true Jayhawk fandom (starting in ā89 a year late to the party) I could tell you every stinking team KU lost to and the final score. Most of that brain space is wasted on work info now. š¢
If you wanted to grab every single rebound Ryan Robertson as a 6ā6ā point guard would be alright. (Nice stroke too). You wouldnāt need too much for scoring out of the point and Jacque was the best pure point I can think of, but that lineup could use some perimeter shooting. Mario is the consummate winner and would ultimately be my choice as well though.
@wissox seems to work
AD/Commish are worried about money if his cash cow football goes away. Sounds kinda desperate - planning on playing in front of empty stadiums to keep the media dollars flowing. Sports are on life support.
ā/\ā/\ā/_____/\
@BShark I guess Self meant it when he said they werenāt paying attention to ranking services anymore. Funny ācause they just react to the blue bloods recruiting in cases like this. Bet he ends up ranked if KU signs him.
Let me attempt once more stir conversation on the topic. I donāt hold a very strong opinion myself, but would love to hear a strong supporting or opposing argument that had a little substance to it. Iām short on brain dead entertainment, normally sports occupies that headspace.
How about, if given these extreme circumstances, and given the entire regular season was complete, the AP and Coaches name a top team of the year? Not much different than a AP coach of the year or AP player of the year. Just an ! to end the season on. Not a āfakeā NCAA banner, just some accolade for finishing the season nearly universally (I believe Gonzaga picked up 4-5 votes of the 100+ coach/AP votes after winning their post season tournament) viewed as the team on top.
I honestly donāt care that much about the fans, Iām curious what would be appropriate for the players as Coach Self has lobbied for some sort of recognition for the team himself. Any ideas anyone???
@BShark Hopefully more that than a sign of the times.
FWIW the current belief by some doctors is the people who survive have anti-bodies that make them immune in the short term, likely 1-2 years. They are urging any health care professionals who have recovered from covid-19 to go to the front line as they should be safe or if reinfected it should be much milder. They are also trying to extract the anti-bodies out of recovered patients to see if they can use them to help critically ill patients recover. Itās one hell of a battle, but with any luck nothing beyond football should be cancelled.
@mayjay š
@mayjay I see nothing compelling in your name calling, maybe if I was 6. Are you sure youāre feeling okay? You normally are fun to chat with...and fairly nice. The argument you presented seems way below you.
@mayjay Nope just recognition for the guys who poured their hearts and souls into a number one ranking that will not amount to a hill of beans given no tournament. I said name them regular season champs not NCAA tournament champs. Really they could do that every year. The regular season champ is more legit imho. Just look at the Big12 tournament. KU wins the regular season most years, but only half the Big12 tournaments. So how does a single elimination tournament save hurt feelings, much less crown the best team champ? Iād say if people get upset so easily theyād better stop watching sports as thatās not healthy.
If Duke was the unanimous #1 team at the conclusion of the regular season Iād be fine with them hanging a banner. I donāt think the NCAA needs to recognize it the same as a tournament champ, but that level of excellence deserves some level of recognition.
@mayjay lol I told you not to read. It really does seem to piss you off. Embrace your anger let the dark side empower you. Lol
Too much money in football to shut it down for a thousands dying? Iām not optimistic there will be sports next year. The growth curve of the spread of the virus needs to be slowed before any predictions can be accurately made and we are very much on the upswing side of the curve. Hopefully we get this virus shut down, but the NCAA tournament had never been canceled before either. Never say never I suppose.
@kjayhawks No one cares to watch a Cinderella team after the round of 32. When you get a crap team in the final four viewership goes down. Everyone wants to watch the blue bloods. The NBA gets it right with best of 7 series, but you canāt have that many games in college. Double elimination would definitely give us better matchups come the final four; the best teams would actual get a chance to play each other. i.e. Virginia a couple years ago got bounced in the first round as a 1 seed, but that 16 seed wasnāt the better team, just better that night.
I donāt expect they will name a champion this year, but I would like to see what the NCAA would do if there was no tournament the next year, as KU doesnāt stand a chance, and Iād like to see what they do if Villanova or Duke is the presumed number one team. The way things are going there may not be football or basketball next year anyway. People are not taking steps to slow Coronavirus down enough, itās not going away anytime soon if ever.
Paul lays out his all time KU team. Pretty salty.
Jon Rothstein
@JonRothstein
Interesting Stat:
A year ago, 14 mid-major players who averaged in double-figures during the 18-19 season opted to grad transfer to power conferences.
None averaged in double-figures last season.
Hereās Myrons argument flimsy as it may be - the regular season was completed. KU had, in his words, by far the best regular season. (Cover your ears @mayjay) he went on to say the NCAA tournament is the worst way to crown a champion in sports - it is great at determining who is hot at the end. Ie 2014 UConn was his example. ( you couldāve pointed out a hot shooting Michigan team from earlier this year of an example of a team that got hot in a tourney and won it despite not being able to sustain that success in the long term. They vaulted near the top of the rankings only to be exposed, but if that tournament was all we saw they were amazing. ) Myron also pointed out that the NCAA football in lieu of a playoff picked its champion for years. Metcalf went on to say that this is not an ideal situation, but The NCAA needs it have a contingency plan in place to make a champion. What if it happens again next season?
Will just bashed on the idea. No NCAA tournament no champion.
I say why not name a regular season champion if there is no tournament? KU beat 2 presumptive top seeds on the way to its top ranking. KU is not ncaa tournament champions, but I feel they should be named regular season champions!
Myron Metcalf has endorsed KU as national champion. Will Cain is not impressed. So heās taking calls to support his argument. Guess who the first caller was? A guy from Columbia Missouri, guess what he didnāt like the idea.
Another funny thing is no one remembers the Helms championships. They act like itās never been done before.
Wouldnāt it be better to pay Beaty and sweep the violations under the rug instead of dragging them up in the midst of everything else thatās going on? Seems counterproductive. Maybe not sweep under the rug, but why dredge up new issues most of which were minor? š¤·āāļø
@drgnslayr This way we get to play spoiler in the early game against (MSU/Duke/Kentucky?) during that ātournamentā.
I like his highlight reel. Looks like he could help KU next season. Bill might look at it and say 5 minutes of highlights and only one steal?!? Lol
@BShark Jr Dotson would take it...
@BShark I wish Josh would get his head on straight. Heās a baller and could be a very nice supporting piece.
@RockkChalkk As I recall Releford was good at picking his shots. Dotson was a just an average to poor shooter with amazing speed. Masonās senior year was truly special, he shot over 50% from three most of the year.
Stats be damned Iād take Graham over about anyone when starting a team just for his leadership abilities. But it gets me excited thinking about the synergy Graham and Chalmers would have on the defensive end. Teams would absolutely hate playing against us.
Time to execute those with Coronavirus so they can stop infringing on our right to paaaaaarrrty. JJ this whole deal stinks.
@kjayhawks if he starts two years itās still team friendly. Winston wouldnāt have signed for less than 30 in Tampa. Itāll likely be less now that heās been set free though. Weird how the market works. Godwin is a very nice receiver. I donāt know what they have beyond that, but Winston threw for a ton of yards last year and 30 TDs. If he didnāt throw just as many pics they wouldāve been pretty salty. Brady looked washed down the stretch, weāll see how it plays out. Glad itās not my team.
@Texas-Hawk-10 as evidenced by fouling out in 4 minutes. Lol heās getting better, but his arms are wild. I hope he can be consistently available down the stretch.
Iād like to see Graham and Chalmers play together. With Embiid and Marcus Morris in the post -wow that high low action would be amazing both are great passers. Fill in Wiggins at the three (or use Selden, TRele, JJackson and switch depending on matchups)
@BShark Releford wasnāt much of a threat from deep, but he only missed about one layup his Jr and Sr years. combined. Great on D. Heās a bit underrated as a glue guy, but doesnāt wow either.

@Texas-Hawk-10 if he averaged over 5 a game that would be impressive! Rules and all...
Since that number is based on per 40 minutes, you can average over 5 per 40 minutes, but nice try.
Oh, you didnāt clarify you were talking about his fouls per 40 minutes. Thatās a different thing than an average. His average for fouls is 1.7 byw
4.7 fouls per 40 minutes is...umm not good.

@Crimsonorblue22 a lot if he doesnāt change his ways. Some in mere minutes. Lol heās a spaz
