That game is why the chiefs can't be in the superbowl. That was pathetic on all fronts. Kelce looked a high schooler and a dozen penalties were killer.

I've said it's going to be their Defense that kills them - -they couldn't stop a cold against a team that runs the ball. - -Lucky for them not a lot of teams that run the ball anymore that much - -we saw the result when you come up against a team that does

@jayballer73 glad for him, with how little he played last year, you'd think that helped. Hopefully his pops is doing well and he will excel. I really thought he was gonna be great shooter for us last season. But it's tough when your folks are having trouble. My dad had early onset dementia and past away in April.

Sorry to hear - -times like those are and can be really rough . - -I hope Charlie does well , being closer to home and such.

@jayballer73 Yes, KU would've had recruits if Beaty was still here. The reason the 2019 class was the mess that it was is because Beaty was a lame duck coach going into the season so recruiting was hurt due to that. If Beaty wasn't on the hot seat in 2018 either, that class would look very different as well and he would've had a solid 2019 class as well.

Beaty came to KU with a reputation as a good recruiter and he absolutely upgraded the talent at KU. It was most other aspects of coaching that he was subpar at.

KU was about 5 plays away from being a bowl team in 2018. They aren't far away now either. KU is a QB away from being 4-2 this year. For all the crap Beaty gets, he left Les Miles in a much better position than what Charlie Weis left Beaty in.

good point - -nd like we both say - -just really in need of that Quality QB

kjayhawks said:

I'd say we have made some progress in some areas but none or even regressed in others. That being said it's unfair to compare this team to last years when we lost all but 9 starters and were only able to sign 15 recruits. The progress or lack there of the offensive line is disappointing. I feel like we have gotten worse as a group there when we returned everyone but the center. The defense I think has been a working progress and probably better than I expected. I was worried we could average 45 ppg or more let up. The main issue I have is the Coastal loss, which just inexcusable IMO and the playing calling which could improve after today's firing. I really think we have to give Miles a pass on this first season with what he inherited. He already has as many road wins as the previous 4 coaches counting Bowen. 2 wins in year one is the same or better than MM, Beaty or Weis did. I'll bet we steal one and match Gill's 3 wins but he inherited a much much better situation. Im just hoping we can have a big offseason, get a QB and some linemen on both sides. I'll stress to everyone again, this isnt a sprint rebuild and shouldnt be treated that way. The other coaches since MM short cutted it time and time again. That's what killed our scholarship numbers. Why SZ sat back and let Beaty repeat Weis's errors is baffling.

more interested with next year after he has had a full year of recruits -hell with Beaty would we even have any recruits for next year?. - - ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY

Ok guys , so thinking we are about half way into our Season - -think it's time to see evaluate where we are. - -The question is , are we making progress?

I myself , I have to think , even though these last couple of weeks makes it hard to think so - - I truly feel /believe that yes - - -yes we actually are making progress. Might not be monster progress - but it is progress.

Once again we have to remember just how bad we were. - - - I think our biggest problems are the same as they have been maybe just not to the same degree. - - I think our # 1 main problem is our QB , Carter has done decent - -at times -- like yesterday when he took the team actually on a 99 yd drive where we went in the lead 7-0 - -other times he has look bad - -really bad, If we can get a top quality QB ?

The other Concern /problem for us continues to be our Offensive line , just seems they can't maintain their block long enough/create for our backs to find a seam - - now yesterday was better but still concerns.

One thing I will say - - these guys hit - - we will stick you, some pretty dam really good bell ringers , and we do have some pieces on D -- I think another year or two of Les full year of recruits will really start seeing some real progress. - - We got to remember this is his 1st year and not a full yr of recruits. - -We already see what he did in a full cycle of recruits - -If we could cap that off with Clayton - -the ya - -real progress.

Our freshmen that he recruited are getting game experience - - Parker & Mayberry -another thing still need to get a little more pressure on the defensive side. - - we knew or we should have known that this wasn't going to happen overnight - -we didn't get this bad over night. - just feel we ARE making progress - -IF we could just find us THAT QB - -patience - - - patience - - -ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY

MLB is awful. I went to more games than ever this year. Watched more baseball than ever. 11,000 fewer balls put in play over the course of a season compared to 2008 is what I just heard. Stupid MLB thinks winding the ball tighter will improve the game. So strikeouts rise and the game is increasingly becoming a 2 outcome game, longball or a K. No playoff games on their premier network Fox until at least the later stages of the League Championship Series. The year the hated Cubs were playing the Dodgers to go to the World Series, you know a pretty historical event, on a Saturday night Fox shows Kansas-TCU football. Cubs Dodgers were on FS1 and I had to try explain to my poor mom how to find the game on her TV because she couldn't find it. 4 games yesterday averaged 3:30 in length. No extra innings. @approxinfinity Dodgers-Nats game required 3:37 to score all of 6 runs total. Dodgers strike out 17 times in one game. Bob Costas on MLB network calling the Twins-Yankees game lamenting that the Yankees will could have to beat 3 100 win teams to win the world series, while the exact same thing is true for the Twins. Twins fans are mad as Hades. I could go on and on, like MLB games do these days.

My rooting interests this round are Nats because of @approxinfinity, Cardinals because it will make the cubs upset, Twins because no one wants the hated Yankees to win another world series, and Houston. Next year the White Sox will be in the conversation.

ummm I'm not a no one and I want the Yankees to win ANOTHER world series. - - I agree just like the Yankees and Twins last night -dam game took I believe 4 hours - -4 stinking hours - just to long. You have to be a true fan to stick with something like that.

I thought they were trying to speed the game up. - - I know from playing the game for many , many years myself - - -and as I was a Pitcher I truly understand I really do.

there is to much other/ then the true action - - -things like how many times a batter will call time - - - how many times a pitcher steps off the mound or throws to 1st with a runner on - - pitcher/catcher conversations - -it's nuts - -I thought they was going to put some kind of time restriction on this mound meetings and such - -the game is just to long.

And your right about the ball. - - The Yankees just set the record for home runs like 2-3 years ago> - -at 267 - -they said last night that I believe 6 teams broke that record this year - - -with Minnesota leading at 307 & the Yankees at 306 - -that's not helping things - -I don't know. - -ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY

@benshawks08 Please note the distinction. “Inner city black culture.” It has nothing to do with my black neighbor.

Inner city black culture. You know what it is. I know what it is. We all know what it is. You can turn your back on it, cry racism. I don’t give one good d*** what you think about me.

I care about our country. The absolute violence and carnage brought on our country by the inner city black culture is astounding and unmatched. Don’t talk to me about the 1800s or 1930, or whatever. This is today.

Look at Late Night at AFH and the disgusting show put on in the name of our university. All in the name of ATTRACTING the black athlete. We should all be absolutely embarrassed. This is what is needed to gets kids to sign? Disgusting.

I watched suburban kids try to mimic the disgusting culture. Pants hanging halfway down their a** — an inner city black culture invention to glorify the gangster in jail that has no belt and can’t keep his pants up. Just beautiful.

More importantly than that, a culture of drive by shootings, random acts of carnage, roaming gangs — a culture where choosing to grab a gun and kill someone is ingrained. Daily. Not here and there. DAILY.

Among blacks, 73% of births are out of wedlock. In the inner city, much higher. That has steadily increased since the 60s. To me, this is the most important cause of the inner city destruction we see now.

Worse, black dads with multiple children, with multiple women. It’s an epidemic in the inner city black communities. Heck, look at our BB teams. Who’s got a dad? Whose dad is in jail. Whose mom has the same last name as her son? How many half brothers and half sisters?

This is the plague of the inner city black culture — the answer to the “why.”

And racism is the problem. What a joke.

So don’t give me this racism crap. I don’t care what you call it. I call it reality.

When I see a buddy of mine, a black surgeon, actively trying to keep his kids AWAY from the inner city black culture, that is a huge answer for me. When I hear him discuss it, it cements it.

It’s really sick. We see a “mass” shooting, 10 dead, 20 injured. Horrific. But then we IGNORE the carnage of a single night in Chicago, or a weekend in STL, or you name the Inner city (the deep blue voting areas by no coincidence).

Why? Because the ANSWER makes you uncomfortable. You and others like you operate on feelings. Not facts. You want to normalize abhorrent behavior. You’ll blame everything except the personal behavior.

You are the dangerous enabler. Well intentioned. But when there are so many folks that provide excuses, refuse to demand personal responsibility, we have what we see in the inner cities. It’s easier to give things away than make demands.

Are you proud?

Well my KU family , it's here - - -our time of year, Basketball Season. You or I can't predict what this Season will hold - - how it will unfold , we can hope , wish , predict - however you want to twist it , but we just don't know.

I myself think our chances of having a pretty special season are pretty decent. Still a lot goes into the reality - things such as player improvement ( Oachi Dave ) - from everything I've heard both have really made strides. - - -Things such as keeping healthy ( Doke ) - - -ovoid other key injuries such as ( Devon ) - -we just CAN NOT have Devon go down for any kind of time - - QB of this team. - -incoming players being able to contribute quality play/minutes - - -( Moss ) - -& the Freshmen.

Ya looking forward to it - - got a monster front line - - like Coach said - - we can always play Bully ball - -going to be hard for people to match up with our front court - -there is NO reason why we should get out re-bounded in a game. - - -Then we have our MR Consistent Garbage man - -( Mitch ) - -what he lacks in talent - -he gains back with heart and energy - -Always gives 100 % PLUS one. - -he is the guy not afraid to sacrifice his body to take the Charge - - pick up a few rebounds - - the thing that really has surprised me through his years has been his ability to block the shot - - had no idea , how many times he has gotten beat on D but been able to recovery and still swat the ball - -Mitch is a guy that will dive on the floor after loose balls. - -Give me a couple more guys that's willing to do whatever for the team like Mitch does - - -I'll be fine- -a guy that gives it his all for the team.

My friends we have no idea how this NCAA thing is going to turn out - - -one thing we do know is , general concensus it's not going to be determined for this season - Need to enjoy THIS Season and worry about Tomorrow - - Tomorrow - -and let's live Today - - for Today -- Screw the NCAA - -

NOW is the time to UNITE - -even more as Jay Hawk Nation - -show every one KU is here now - -KU will be here forever - -No matter what happens w will survive - -It's time to kick some Ass - can you feel it? - -Are you ready? - -Tonight IT STARTS - - I'm ready - - I'm stoked - - and as usual my friends I'll end this just like always - - -ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY

ya , I hear what your saying - -who knows for sure , it's one big crap shoot. -Thing is though seems like for the most part or so it seems - - just like with this kid - - - Jerry Meyer and Andrew Slater have both thrown CB"S for KU - -Meyer is usually pretty spot on - -then this Morning although not as much as Meyer and Slater - - Fisher threw in to KU also. - The real tale tale to me is what Evan Daniels says - -I like him a lot he usually pretty accurate - haven't seen him make any prediction

Like I said when your dealing with 17-18 yr olds - -who the hell knows lol. - - ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY

A group of my friends and I were all out last night and talking, and pretty well all came with the same conclusion. With this thing guys it's coming - -it's going to happen whether you really want it or not - - it's coming. More and more States are going to adapt this , introduce this and it WILL pass. Think they said Florida has adopted this now or about to - -then like my buddies were talking and said you know who the next state that will follow suit on this will be ? - - -Texas you can almost count on that.

Here is the thing Big 12 Commissioner Ol Bob Goolsby has made the statement kinda hinting how he is stands behind the NCAA on this thing more or less standing pat. - - Well if this indeed starts to steam roll which again fully believe this will --- you know- - - I know - - -we know Texas isn't going to stand pat , in the long run Texas is not going to have any part of this lop sided playing field that this is going to create.

So if ol Bobby doesn't want any part of this - -Then Texas is just gonna say umm ya - - Well were out. - Texas IS gonna follow suit with this , the thing is and this has been talked about and we all know this is coming too. - -that is when the current contract expires in the Big 12 - -we don't follow suit with these other states that will go to this - -there will be NO MORE Big 12 - - it will for sure crumble/dissolve , we know that's coming anyway - -But now with this all it's doing is speeding up the process - - face it the Big 12 is history - if we don't get on board with this thing now - - we gonna get left behind.

This league is doomed - -already was - - But Texas gonna say we out leave the league - Then in light of that Oklahoma gonna follow suit to Texas because as you all know there is NO WAY Oklahoma is going to let Texas get the upper hand in any thing , These other states are going to start an follow suit with California with this you can take it to the bank.

We ( Kansas ) beter get on board with this sooner then later - this is going to have a snowball effect - - like I said this just speeds things up for the breaking up of the Big 12 - Texas will be gone - -then Oklahoma Schools are going to follow - -that will be Texas - - Texas Tech - - TCU - - - Oklahoma -- -Oklahoma State - all out- -this isn't nearly as much of a nightmare as some here think - - again the Universities are making money - -a lot of money off these kids , these kids are just like anyone else - they need money to survive.

Example why couldn't the NCAA have some kind of stipulation/limit - -Example let's say some little kid had a players jersey number , - -ask the player if he would Autograph it - -the NCAA has a stipulation limit of 50.00 max for that - - why not?

So in the Current condition - - let me ask are students required to live on Campus? - -are they forced to live in the athletic dorm? - -if they are why? - -what if they want to live in an apartment of Campus - -no different then any other student - -other students are required to live on Campus - -if they are why should athletes be forced to live on Campus? - -and if they are forced - -then how the hell are they suppose to pay the rent? - -how do they buy groceries - - - clothes - - everyday things?

it's coming -- IT IS going to happen - -people want to say well who would these California schools play ? - -Like my friends saod Hell the state of California is big enough by it's self that it would be a problem - - UCLA - - USC - - - Cal, to name the major plus I know I'm missing others - - my buddy in California says they have many many schools that could play - - -plus these other States come on board - -which they are going to - -the Florida Schools - -The Texas Schools these are states that have many Major D-1 that can play - -again all this bil in the long run is doing is speeding up the process of the Big 12 no more. - -

Now ya the general Concenus is KU would be ok - -probably land in the Big 10 - But for some of these other Schools - -like K-State they gonna be screwed because the theory of these Conferences is - -what can you bring to the table - what can you bring to our Conference as to why we should add you?

In order to keep the playing field level this is a must thing to do - - you think we have had trouble getting recruits before? - -well just stand back - - do nothing - -see what happens - - won't be pretty

Read this morning that Fisher off 247 put in his pick ( CB ) - to KU for Gerthro Muscadin last Night - - still giving 100% of the predictions - I mean there have been only 5 CB'S but all have been for us - -so good thing I guess.

These for the most part I think are going to be the types we get for a bit - -not necessarily a bad thing , developmental player 4 yr player but with this dam NCAA thing going on -he just might develop into a solid 4 year kid that can help us in a couple of years - -think he needs to hit the weight room though pretty lean - -I think said 6'10 & 215 - - -sounds like an old Rick Suttle type of frame - - - you all remember him? - - -ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY
