@HighEliteMajor The trouble is for me is that several Nike schools were listed reports including Dook. They have tapped conversations of what Zion wanted and his mom is in a huge house all the sudden. But the neither the FBI or NCAA has the balls to take on Coach K or Nike. That much seems blatantly obvious at this point. At this point we need to drop Adidas and go with Nike that way we can get the classes that UK and Dook do every year.
Interesting that they choose to suspend him for not only this year but all of next. It doesn't really line up with what they have done in the past, Selby took $1500 from his prom which included a limo, tux and hotel rooms, was suspended 9 games. Silvio himself basically got nothing and has already sat out more than twice as many games. All while Zion more than likely is getting paid right now. The positive thing is that at least we know going forward, pending the appeal and it doesn't sound like they want us to vacate anything. I know Self and Long have commented negatively about it but if we don't have to vacate anything. I'd just be done with it. The appeal likely wont be done anytime soon so the season likely wouldn't matter if he gets cleared.

@HighEliteMajor Right Garrett has to be on the floor and I wasn't trying to make it sound as if he shouldn't. But yes, Self and Co need to sit down and figure out some new plays and a new style of offense to make this work.
@Woodrow Good article, I was talking about this earlier in the season. Garretts man can basically play a zone defense and protect an area of the court without having to worry about him hitting 3s. Now teams have taken it to the next level by leaving him open for jump shots time and time again but they are staying 5 or 6 feet off of him to prevent the drive now to. Vick has seen guy follow him and never leave for the same reason because Garretts man can always help. Vick needs to learn to move better without the ball and drive it more. Grimes has a similar problem, can't hit the jumpshots consistently so teams are sagging off to prevent him from driving or causing the high number of charges he has had this season. Have one shooter and one good big is a dream for a defense at this level. Some follows the shooter and you can have anyone else help or double down low. Ochai maybe the key to 15 if he is able to hit 3s consistently and give defenses another guy that they have to keep track of or as @justanotherfan was saying, Grimes wakes up and starts playing better. I honestly think Grimes isn't near as athletic as we thought he would be and thats half the issue.
Three years probation, one year postseason ban in all 3 sports, vacating all games in which the athletes played in, 5% decrease in scholarships, $5,000 fine and a 1% decrease in each sports budget. Fizzou stinks and is too far east too not get big sanctions. I think it's a little rough, especially after UNC got nothing for fake classes. They are appealing the ruling and prob get it lessened.

I wonder when the last time was that we lost 4 of 5? I think it happens and it isn't close with us already losing 2 of 3 and the likes of Tech, @KSU coming our way next. I personally don't think this team has a very high ceiling whatsoever. Last year our main issues were defense and rebounding. We could score with the best of them just couldn't always get the stops. This team not only struggles in those categories but can't score or even run the dang offense half the time and thats just the tip of the iceberg IMO. We have always seen us have a bad game and drop a few to teams we shouldn't have. I agree with what Self has always said, you play 5 games below average, 5 above average and the rest of the games are who you are as a team. The trouble is I'm not sure I see any improvement overall, very minimal if so and we are half way thru the season.
It was about -10 this morning when I started my truck with the wind chill, It has warmed up to 15, 5 with the wind chill currently. Sadly after this morning it doesn't feel that bad out. If it was -50 out i would've stayed at the house, we wouldn't of had most people show up in that anyway.
@wissox KSU played great defense last year. If you can guard, you have a chance any day. Our post defense is almost non existent, on a side note I gave no expectations going forward so that may help lol.
@BeddieKU23 at this point if KU doesnt recieve any infractions. I would would be fine with that because we would know for sure about not only this season but next.
Self needs to cut it to 7 rotation players. Dotson, Garrett, Ochai, Vick and Dedric start and only Grimes, David play off the bench. We all love Mitch and rightfully so but he just cant cut it, him and KJ likely aren't D1 level of players. Moore just isn't capable of coming in cold and doing much, sad truths IMO. The post Defense isn't getting any better unless Big David learns right now. Work like crazy on defense, rebounding and perimeter shots til March.
As much as we complain about Vick, we aren't .500 without him. Q is really a guy that's hard to say anything positive about and I hate because he seems like a good kid. He has a ton of similarities as Wigs, good kid, parents were both good athletes. He just doesnt have a fiery mindset.
@jayballer73 we are kansas not an east coast school we all maybe dead before SDS gets any ruling. Doke would've made a huge difference tonight and the other 2 loses recently. He is shooting over 80% inside 2 foot, having a big guy to get a bucket in defensive battle is huge, not to mention he would've altered and probably fouled on several opposing teams easy shots at the rim.
The boxscore is depressing lol, Dedric had 13 pointv off of 15 shots, lightfoot and Moore combined for 4 fouls and zero other stats in 20 minutes. Outside of Ochai and Devon they are pretty ugly. Some hinted at it being just shooting but we shot better than Texas. Turnovers were even, heck they only out rebounded us by 4. Them hitting 4 more 3s and several at very timely moments was a big difference. Its amazing how much better ISU and Texas have shot the 3 vs us compared to anyone else, we are going to guard better out there. When Dedric isn't hitting we need to just let Vick and Ochai fire away from distance.
@Woodrow I thought only Ochai had fire tonight, Texas was the first to the floor and just out hustled us to several rebounds. One Dedric literally just stood and watched a put back, didnt even move. No more transfers please, maybe if we can only get guys ranked in the 100s, they will at least go hard.
@Big-Clyde52 that's honestly my worry that this down year turns into 3 or 4. I think there's a strong chance that happens, especially not knowing what the NCAA will do with us. I'll just put it this way if something happens to us while a list of Nike schools doesn't even looked into I'll be done with College Basketball. I already think pro sports are rigged and everyone alive knows you dont get top 10 players every years like Dook or UK without paying.
Well we dropped another road game and again to a sub par team. Its time to face the facts, this team isn't very good. We as fans have to learn to take the good with the bad, we have won 14 straight conference championships, a record that likely doesn't get touched again. Let's all not hate on our players and coaches, they may very well be doing the best of their ability. My only goal is to make the NCAA tournament. We will all get thru this, hopefully with class and dignity. ROCK CHALK win or lose til I die!

The refs have no bearing in this game but odd Texas has a mere 2 fouls, that's damn near impossible in 3/4s of a game. Especially with the aggressive defense.

It is a little strange not to have a jayhawk in the game, but I think KU is on the radar for a couple guys in it. Recruiting doesn't look so hot right now for us, 2 guys signed and the highest rated is at 95th in the country. Robinson-Earl, I think will be a big loss if Dedric leaves. We do have some good young guys in Dotson, Grimes, David and Ochai that are probably big factors for at least next years team. But with the chance of losing both Doke and Dedric fairly high IMO, I'd like to see us sign a big guy or 2. I think the FBI probe is hurting us in that regard, recruits maybe waiting to see if we get a post season ban. Which is highly unlikely looking at how Hernandez didn't cause Miami any ban or to vacate wins tho he more than likely got paid to play last year. Arizona doesn't seem to be slowing down after the supposed tape of Miller talking about giving 100k to Ayton. Maybe the tape doesn't exist but it still baffles me than no Nike team is being looked at tho several including Ok State, Arizona and Duke were in reports.
