I am fairly sure we are mostly still here, although a good argument could be made that we are sliding toward Hell in the proverbial handbasket.

Why does the bold button not work?
My experience is it does not transcend paragraphs.
Holy crap!
The most useless freakin' TV shot is of coaches on the sideline. I just yelled words at the TV which I didn't even know could be fitted together to create mental images best gorgotten.
Defending NAIA champs. Nice confidence shown by the coach!
@3genhawk Same league Sasha Kaun's team, PBC CSKA Moscow, was in.
Why not two runs straight up the gut on 3rd and 1? Lateral 4 yards behind the line automatically gives up the yardage they just got. Hate those calls, and then mistakes just compound it.
@RockkChalkk There is a huge difference between wanting to compete on court against the best, from wanting to compete for playing time against kids who might not be as talented on court but are willing to work harder and do even more than the coaches ask.
Not saying this is what is happening, only that it can explain why someone could shy away from trying to beat Moore if he is in the Mason mold (remember FM's training video?).
I think he stays 5 years or as long as the Streak continues, whichever is longer.
@Kcmatt7 I will have to think on this one, to give it the thought it deserves. Thank you for coming up with a provocative and interesting topic!
@JayHawkFanToo Not relevant to my suggestion of why Zion might choose Clemson, unless those programs were trying to get in-state recruits of his caliber who went elsewhere. If so, I must have missed them.
@JayHawkFanToo Clemson does have a lot of national attention due to winning the FB championship game. Might be fun for Zion to accept a challenge to put Clemson on the national scene in basketball. Not predictin' it will happen--just sayin' it makes more sense than the normal local school scenario.
Sept 12, 2009, in El Paso
So Gill, Weis, Bowen and Beatty all have not won any KU road games.
@Gorilla Wow! Great news!
But I suppose someone should check el poyo for cyanide pills as his world view collapses unceremoniously......
@KUSTEVE Welcome back to civilization. Well, the Board anyway!
@Big-Clyde52 Here is the local paper's take on it here in Columbia. Interesting comments about Zion's entire recruitment process.

@HighEliteMajor Maybe. I would hazard a guess, though, that the phrase "happily in . . . class" doesn't appear in any of the alternate universes in which young Master Robinson is, has been, or might have been, a resident.
@jayballer54 You can save money by just having the doctor attach the EKG leads to your chest after a lengthy session on the Board. No other stress inducers necessary!
OK, guys, let me get this straight. Both of you have an opinion of who is the leader for some recruit, neither of you has any definitive actual information on the subject, both of you have cited some information that you claim supports your opinion, each of you challenges the sources of each other's opinion, both of you claim you (a) supported your own and (b) asked for why the other one has an opinion that seems very strong, and you both seem to agree that CBs and recruit comments are not definitive predictors of a player's ultimate destination.
Now you decide to start snarling at each other, blah blah blah--typifying way too much internet interaction.
Can you both please try to repeat the words, "We are each entitled to our own opinion" without adding nasty comments?
Here is my own, as if it matters: the relationship with the OSU coach gives a good reason why OSU is in the mix, but we know from many many recruitments that offers from blue bloods (esp Duke and UK) can often win over personal ties. You each have valid points. But you both keep asking for proof of opinions--it doesn't work that way!
Update: Fifteen is now Tropical Storm Maria. The newest track shows it becoming a hurricane into the Virgin Islands and then a major hurricane when it hits PR on Wednesday. Any hurricane with that trajectory and strength could go on to the Bahamas and Florida or East Coast.

Update: A number of spaghetti models show Maria spinning off into the Atlantic to the East of the Bahamas. They said that about Irma, too, IIRC.
@kjayhawks Seems to have a really strong arm.
@Texas-Hawk-10 I was referring to my preferences for plays where he waits too long, not the pick!
@Texas-Hawk-10 Last week, too, not all of them impossibles. But the QB sure does make it hard for the receivers to make plays.
KU needs to try quick passes over the middle on a short dropback. I keep seeing the receivers go over the line uncovered, then trying to stay open while the QB checks off.
Can we find receivers who stop tipping the ball to the defense?
Good lord, this could be another one. Here is the projected track of Potential Tropical Cyclone 15, predicted to become a TS soon and a hurricane later this week.
The track takes it directly through the islands just whacked by Irma. Some of these storms that develop quickly can really surprise. Those poor people need many months to recover, not this!
!0_1505583212356_145528_5day_cone_no_line_and_wind.png ↗
Meanwhile, TS Lee is further east and on a similar, but (as currently oriented) more northernly, track. It is not predicted to be as exciting and may dissipate instead.
@KUSTEVE I was thinking this morning of posting about how I have always gotten power back before they predicted, and that I hoped you would be lucky, too! But I held back to avoid jinxing you.
Hooray for all those thousands of workers who have been working on restoring power all through Florida! BTW, you have a few thousand South Carolinians down there helping. Meanwhile, the quarter million homes out of power here have been tended to by crews from NY, Md, Penn, and Va.
@approxinfinity Lock 'er up!--this thread, I mean. It is definitely flying outside approved airspace.
It has been awhile since anyone posted something along the lines of, "Many people think we should go to a flat tax. Anyone have some ideas about that?" Or, "What should we do about North Korea?" Or even, "Can the US afford [insert program of your choice]?"
Unless I see topics that are efforts to have a discussion rather than trolling to spark fights, I am dropping out of the politics category. I invite anyone else tired of it to join me in BB, General (nonpolitical), MLB, and football, and any other areas where a post is not headed by a question certain to provoke emotions.
@JayHawkFanToo That would be nice, to think there is a plan.
No, it is just because they are totally, unbelievably, mindeffingly, diagnostically nuts.
My sister-in-law left Chicago today with her father to take him back to Ft Lauderdale. His condo has all systems running. They are driving via St L and New Orl, for God alone knows what reason. My brother spent the past 3 days with his F-in-L, and has now gone certifiably nuts.
The families of evacuees: hidden victims of Irma.
@Kcmatt7 Well, it must have been hard to find any information about JJ on mainstream media because, you know, it is full of lies and cannot be trusted. Have to find alt.fact sources for Trutherism, right and left.
Maybe this will help to keep y'all optimistic on recruiting: KU was to have an in-house with the other Zion today. He has several lined up this week, from which he will make choices for official visits.
@KUSTEVE Excellent redeployment of assets, young man! We were thrilled with an extension cord from our neighbor back when hit by Isabel in Virginia (2003). Rotated it between coffee pot, frig, freezer, TV, and laptop charger that kept us connected to the internet via modem on a phone line!
Hope you get plugged in soon!
@Kcmatt7 A lot of people said his protest and method were stupid because "Look at what this will cost him!" You seem to think it was all a ploy for publicity, ignoring the possible millions he has forfeited.
A lot of people said, "Okay, now shut up and stand up, CK. Shut up, your point has been made. Stand up, stop being a fool." You question his sincerity because he isn't sitting any more (although without a team that would be hard).
I just find it easier to believe he was angry, he genuinely wished to make a point, he succeeded in initiating a much-needed conversation, and he is now facing the consequences of making himself controversial by not being able to land a job in his profession. I don't see it as concerted action by the league (a la @justanotherfan's suggestion), but I don't see this as being reduceable as just brat-like PR-seeking behavior, either (a la your suggestion).
Jethro, Jethro, where art thou, Jethro?
@KUSTEVE Hope the beer didn't send you out with the water when the reverse surge drained Tampa Bay! Have you power, sir? And your roof?
@Kcmatt7 You didn't ask me, but there is no reason to think the protest was not sincere. CK was aware it would make him a target for hste and denunciation. Look at what he has lost. You can say that everyone agrees with you, but that is a belief induced solely by the intensity of your emotional reaction. Look how many others have started doing similar things, and his support by many non players, too.
You might not like what he did, but there is no more reason to think he is not sincere than there is to believe the Nazis marching in Charlottesville probably included lots of wonderful people. Both extremes of the political spectrum have genuine adherents.
@kjayhawks Yeah, but there were lots of mistakes like I predicted, so I get one Honorary Weber "play harder" point. AKA, a Brucie.
@Crimsonorblue22 My sister-in-law and her Dad finally finished their 1422 mile 4-day migration to Chicago this evening.
We are supposed to get winds of 30 to 45 tomorrow, along with "torrential rain." Irma literally spreads over 1000 miles from DC to Cuba. Jose is going into a 290 degree loop this week and then points west, but I think it is supposed to veer off north after that. Lord knows the Lesser Antilles do not need another hit after going thru Irma and Jose once already.
Good luck to your friends and cousins. We thought about moving to Venice. Now, no dice. I hope they (friends) have a generator.
@KUSTEVE Glad it is not as bad as it would have been had it stayed west, but it has been much worse than you seem to think. Gusts upwards of 135 mph and sustained over 95 mph are pretty serious, and gusts upward of 100 mph on the east coast from the morning on show how big the storm is. Still a Category 2. Orlando already has winds up to 70 mph and the center isn't close yet. You might be lucky after all in TB, but that was not foreseeable. The effects of going over land, and an influx of dry air, are not predictable parts of a hurricane.
3 to 4 million without power (incl 80% of Miami-Dade!) indicates it was pretty serious. The only reason more residences haven't been demolished is the strengthening of hurricane-resistant building standards, first 40 years ago, and later after Andrew in the 90s. A huge reason we aren't seeing more injuries and deaths is the effectiveness of the warnings and evacs.
Hope the power stays on for you. The grid will definitely be a mess for awhile!
@Crimsonorblue22 Moose gets injuries like Brett did. From trying to do more than more careful players do. Remember when he was lucky not to break his neck in the 2014 playoffs?

Actually, the comments to that article are almost worse than the bank's actions. It is when people observing discrimination decide to rationalize it or justify it that I worry the most because they represent a much broader swath than we think.
We just saw The Book Thief. The crowds of people watching the book burnings, and joining in with chants, cheers, and songs, are too reminiscent of people here who are willing to tolerate exttremism.
Sinclair Lewis wrote a fascinating novel in the 30's in response to the rise of fascism in Europe. It Can't Happen Here. Well, yes it can. It can happen anywhere people decide fear is more instructive in how to live than thoughtful deliberation, and when people think closed doors offer more than open minds.
@BeddieKU23 With Baylor lately, the surprising thing is that more of their football team wasn't transferred--in paddy wagons.
@wissox 5 a.m. forecast (EDT) from NHC has us out of the "cone" where the center is likely to go. If it holds, we will still get a few inches rain and wind but only 45 mph or so.
The cone now has Irma going up near Atlanta as a TStorm on its way to Nashville. Straight into Fla as a major hurricane, though, and up into Orlando as a Cat 1 or 2. Hope Southern Floridians have hunkered down!!0_1504866000648_093751_5day_cone_no_line_and_wind.png ↗
@Crimsonorblue22 Tub, too! Where ya been?
@dylans Well, I didn't say it was perfected yet!
@KUSTEVE Good luck! If you get short on water, Irma might bring some you can collect in plastic bins before the wind gets bad. Ziplock bags can be frozen now (not filled completely; leave some air) for later use in coolers if your power goes out. Run water into any bottles you have, fill plastic trash bins with water to use for your toilets, and make sure your freezer is completely packed to keep things frozen.
Good luck!
17-14. No clue which one wins a game with some good defenses but mistake-prone offenses.
@jayballer54 It is a sign! "Go to Kansas, in Tornado Alley, but where a storm with tornado-force winds is never 300 miles by 500 miles in size!"
Our water system here in Columbia went down for almost 2 weeks 2 yrs ago. Irma may get here Monday as a TropStorm or less, but Sam's Clubs and Walmart are already out of water. People here are very leery after Oct 2015!
Sis-in-law and her Dad turned left at Jacksonville and decided to drive to her home in Chicago instead of here. So, just us and Irma. I will be testing the generator, the chain saw, and roof integrity later today. Neighbor has not taken down two leaning trees near our house....
@drgnslayr You could prohibit in-conference transfers or make them the only ones with a redshirt year. You could also prohibit more than 1 player per year from going to a single school. Creative minds can find ways of dealing with poaching.
