@wissoxfan83 I want to root for them because of you, but it would be easier if their uniforms didn't look so much like Ohio State.....or Nebraska.
@brooksmd (pssssst! I lived in Houston for nine years and made MANY trips to N'awlins. I LOVES me some cajun food. I was throwing that out there in hopes he'd take me up on it.....)

LSU football is every bit as big as KU basketball
ONLY IN LOUSIANA.
LSU football can't begin to rub shoulders with KU Basketball. For one thing, they're not tall enough. Besides that, LSU has been good, off and on for a few years. KU B-Ball has been good since the beginning of time. Don't try to sway me with facts, figures or Cajun food - they aren't as good.
Does anyone know if this afternoon's game is available to be seen online anywhere? Thanks!
@Crimsonorblue22 Lol - that's pretty close to what I've called them a bunch of times!
I wonder if he and Wilt are playing one on one right now?
He was one of the greats, to be sure.
@HighEliteMajor I suppose all of them provide crappy service now and then. I have Cox (my blood pressure just went up 30 pts when I typed that) and while I usually have pretty good coverage, when I have service issues - Oh my goodness - I'm pretty sure the whole company doesn't have the combined IQ of my shoe size.
When I first saw the title of this article, I was SURE that the encounter happened at Wal-Mart - or a drive through liquor store.
@VailHawk Lol - no worries - your brain is much smarter than mine!! But that IS the first thing that ran through mine when I saw it.....
@VailHawk OH.
I thought you meant he came out.....
@ralster It's going to be hard to watch each play this Saturday - my eyes aren't that fast anymore! To make matters worse, I read an article in the local paper this morning that said that Seth Russell (Baylor's Qb) had originally committed to KU. :cry:
@jaybate-1.0 Plus, he'd get hurt.
@approxinfinity - I was looking for Jesus all day yesterday. There was no doubt in my mind that this was the beginning of the Apocalypse.
David Beaty was with me, but he seemed a little more eager....
“Not myself, not one player, not one trainer, not one assistant, not one person knew anything about any of this,”
:wink: :wink: :wink: :wink: :wink:
I'd gladly help if I could, but I have never lived in/around Dallas. Spent 9 years in Houston and a year in Austin - big help, huh?
One helpful hint - learn to love BBQ, perfect your "Y'all" and learn to never look at a speed limit sign.
Hope you enjoy your stay there!
@HighEliteMajor It's worth stealing
@DanR I waited as well (we're talking about drinking, right?) It was 18 in Kansas at the time. And like you said, made up for lost time for quite a while. But - I saw the video of my brother in law's 30th birthday party many moons ago and have not had a drop of anything with alcohol in it since. AA should seriously consider video as a means of deterant. It worked for me.....
Just wait until he gets married and gets to take part in the hanky-panky!!
@RockkChalkk Bob Davis / Max Falkenstein.
just sayin
It ain't worth it Jeff - go find a nice hometown girl and get some chicken and ribs.
We all know (I assume....) that Calipari was an assistant at KU once upon a time. What if the roles were reversed? If L.B. had been an assistant and was now Kentucky's head coach and Calipari was the continual job-hopper and was now at SMU? Would we feel the same way?
I admit, I've always kind of thought of Cal as a "slime ball" too, but I really don't know why. He's shown he can coach, can win a heck of a lot of basketball games. In the few interviews that I've personally watched, he seems personable enough and sounds intelligent. Is he a "slime ball" because we may be a tiny bit jealous?
I'm seriously just asking, what makes Cal worse than Larry Brown? Thanks.
@dylans There's a KU football site ??
@jaybate-1.0 Best signature ever, by the way.
I don't know about Beaty. The Memphis game was hard to watch, but the SDS game was hard fought and even at Rutgers (albeit a depleted Rutgers) it wasn't a blowout. I think with what we've got, as a program it's going to take any coach a minimum of 3 years to get rolling. And let's face it, the continual coaching carousel (CCC) doesn't seem to be helping anything. If it were a vote, I'd say leave him here for 2 more seasons.
@Lulufulu The writer said he just watched a "fixed" football game. Maybe the first one ever. He must not have seen the Texas vs Kansas game in Lawrence a few years ago.
@Texas-Hawk-10 Just for your information, it's the football program holding the fans back - not the other way around. Ask K-State basketball.
You can rant and rave and spew venom all you like, but let's see, I was the one who even MENTIONED football. I've listened to / watched KU football probably for longer than you've been alive. I listened to the whole entire game on the radio while I was at the lake. I didn't turn it off, or turn it to National Public Radio, or leave at halftime, I was merely surprised that no one on this board had talked about the game at all.
@Texas-Hawk-10 I've been contemplating your deep social commentary and I want to apologize to ALL KU fans EVERYWHERE.
It's MY crappy attitude that has made us a laughingstock in football the past few years. I had no idea that MY attitude was such a powerful force. I condemn myself and my crappy attitude and it will happen no more.
Look forward to guaranteed victories in the next nine games and whatever bowl game we go to. 9-3 should still get us to a respectable bowl. I KNOW that this will happen because YOU said so. MY attitude has been what's wrong with KU football and now MY attitude is fixed !! OH happy day.
GO SQUADRON! DO GOOD! BEAT THE OPPONENTS SOUNDLY IN THE SKIRMISH!!
@Texas-Hawk-10 Lighten up Francis.
You either know nothing about me, or pay very little attention. It's called a JOKE.
@Crimsonorblue22 That is pretty bad! Really bad, in fact. I hadn't seen that particular article, but a few that were similarly nasty. But, we bring it on ourselves. I remember BS (before Snyder) K-State was the brunt of those types of jokes. We are truly in line to be remembered as the best basketball school of all time and the worst football school of all time. We're not far off in achieving either of those.
It was a beautiful day yesterday and I enjoyed it by fishing all day at the lake. I caught enough to make it financially worth while, but if I had been skunked, it still would have been a great day. I was a little surprised that when I got home last night, there was nothing on here about the football game.
You guys have the right attitude - If nobody here cares, then I don't care either! Screw the oblong ball, bring on the round one.
@wissoxfan83 Lol - I couldn't decide which one I wanted to go to, so I snubbed THEM.
I don't know - Ivy League and football don't seem to go together. Maybe I would root for their polo teams, or chess. Do they have a Sudoku team???
@Crimsonorblue22 If i understand correctly, Bill's son is next in line to the Purple Throne. I don't know anything about him, but if he's similar in character to his dad, yeah I'll probably root for them when we're not playing them. If they hire another Ron Prince, I could turn my back pretty quickly.
@drgnslayr I cheer for a lot of teams in football. Too many to name names. Even K-State, thanks to Bill Snyder. The one's I cannot, will not root for - Missouri, Nebraska, Colorado, any team in the state of Florida, Oregon, Boise St (field makes me sick) any Ivy League team - to name a few.
@Crimsonorblue22 You're my wife in disguise.
@Crimsonorblue22 I did say "most", but I get your point - do you ever wonder what they ( and B-Mac, and others ) would have done in a Carolina style offense? Something to think about.
@drgnslayr Most kids that age would probably prefer to be let loose to run and gun. Not a lot of 18 year olds wanting to play a hi-low, shoot the 3 at the risk of riding the pine offense.
Just sayin
@drgnslayr My motto is "Tomatoes (thrown) AT NCAA!"
I used to play a lot of volleyball when I lived in Houston. I could never play collegiate volleyball though, the game is not what God designed it to be.
It is meant to be played with sand and beer.
@clevelandjayhawk I don't know man, I think the fact that there's a question mark after his name pretty much discounts the EVER part. That would be like some saying Wilt Chamberlain ?
@wrwlumpy Jeez lump - you had to add the 27 years thing? I CANNOT believe it's been that long. I listened to that game on the radio ( I believe that was the year we were on "sanctions" and were not televised. I thought Bob and Max were going to have heart attacks calling the game and I thought I was going to have one listening to it!
The most fun I've ever had as a listening "spectator".

That may be the best line I've ever heard! That would make a great tattoo!
@Crimsonorblue22 - An excerpt from your article:
Big 12 Conference Commissioner Bob Bowlsby said Monday that the tension regarding the treatment of big-time college athletes remains such that he can foresee the possibility of a prominent team being set to play a significant game and then choosing not to play in protest.
I suggest our football team do this. Every game.
Sorry, I couldn't help myself.

We don’t need more gun laws. We need judges who will properly punish those who use a firearm while committing a crime
Thank you! That's what I've been trying to say, but I let the words get in my way.
Obviously, it's not guns that's our problem. I used to love hunting and target shooting. I got away from it, but just because it didn't fit into my lifestyle any more, not because of any moral or religious drawbacks.
I get that there are crazy people out there - there always have been, always will be. What bothers me the most is "our" complacency. People that I go to church with, or work with lose their minds when there's a shooting at a school/movie theater/church/theme park/whatever and I ask them WHY? Why are you getting so worked up over something that's going to keep happening over and over and over because nobody gives a crap?
I wish I had an answer.
@jaybate-1.0 When I was an 11 year old kid, John Riggins was an old dude, bigger than life and playing in the Orange Bowl (after having led KANSAS to the Big 8 Championship!!!)
Now he's only 9 years older than me and I want to hang out with him. I don't even drink, but I want to buy him a beer ( or 12 ) and go fishing and smoke cigars !!
Wow! I just finished a show that I had recorded from the NFL Network - A Football Life - John Riggins. What a great story!
When it was over, I was sad, happy, nostalgic and rejuvenated. I remember listening to KU football on the radio as a kid and John Riggins was one of my true childhood heros.
Any one that wants to reminisce about one of the all time great KU football players should check out this show. I don't think you'll be disappointed. What a football player, character and man!
@Statmachine I don't think even I am stupid enough to think that banning guns would help. I guess it just really bothers me that, in this society, people have such a grand desire to kill each other, no matter what the weapon.
What is wrong with us?
@Crimsonorblue22 Oh - well THAT explains our problems in football !!
I will go on record this morning as saying this - Cheick Diallo will never play a second of college basketball as a Kansas Jayhawk.
This accomplishes one of two things:
A) I turn out to be right and look like I know what I'm talking about
B ) As usually happens, the complete opposite of what I say, think and believe happens and he will be cleared TODAY.
If you're betting - bet on " B ".
@wrwlumpy Good point. Wait - just curious, how did he die?
Sticking one's head in the sand doesn't make the problem go away.
@HighEliteMajor Why does a law abiding fellow need an AK-47?
You're an intelligent person, you know that it's not the style/brand of weapon that's the problem. Pick whichever weapon suits you best. It's how the idea of social killing is becoming the norm instead of the exception. Is there a week that goes by any more that an armed person isn't wandering around a college campus or a church, randomly blowing holes in people?
Maybe I'm the only one bothered by it, I don't know...
