KANSAS WILDCATS? • Nov 10, 2015 07:52 PM

@Barney That'd be the ONLY time the Wildcats were rated that high.

@Statmachine This is going to be a great year! We watched the Royals win a World Series, will watch our Jayhawks win another National Championship, watched the Chiefs.......wait.....

They should try something like this:

  1. The ball may be thrown in any direction with one or both hands.

  2. The ball may be batted in any direction with one or both hands (never with the fist.)

  3. A player cannot run with the ball. The player must throw it from the spot on which he catches it, allowance to be made for a man who catches the ball when running at a good speed if he tries to stop.

  4. The ball must be held in or between the hands; the arms or body must not be used for holding it.

  5. No shouldering, holding, pushing, tripping, or striking in any way the person of an opponent shall be allowed; the first infringement of this rule by any player shall count as a foul, the second shall disqualify him until the next goal is made, or, if there was evident intent to injure the person, for the whole of the game, no substitute allowed.

  6. A foul is striking at the ball with the fist, violation of Rules 3, 4, and such as described in Rule 5.

  7. If either side makes three consecutive fouls, it shall count a goal for the opponents (consecutive means without the opponents in the mean time making a foul.

  8. A goal shall be made when the ball is thrown or batted from the grounds into the basket and stays there, providing those defending the goal do not touch or disturb the goal. If the ball rests on the edges, and the opponent moves the basket, it shall count as a goal.

  9. When the ball goes out of bounds, it shall be thrown into the field of play by the person first touching it. In case of a dispute, the umpire shall throw it straight into the field. The thrower-in is allowed five seconds; if he holds it longer, it shall go to the opponent. If any side persists in delaying the game, the umpire shall call a foul on that side.

  10. The umpire shall be judge of the men and shall note the fouls and notify the referee when three consecutive fouls have been made. He shall have power to disqualify men according to Rule 5.

  11. The referee shall be judge of the ball and shall decide when the ball is in play, in bounds, to which side it belongs, and shall keep the time. He shall decide when a goal has been made, and keep account of the goals with any other duties that are usually performed by a referee.

  12. The time shall be two 15-minute halves, with five minutes’ rest between.

  13. The side making the most goals in that time shall be declared the winner. In case of a draw, the game may, by agreement of the captains, be continued until another goal is made.

@drgnslayr Honestly, I can't think of one single player that "Made by Calipari" would apply to.

Now if you changed it to " MARKETED by Calipari ".....

@Crimsonorblue22 - I am absolutely sure your son isn't that ugly....

Sorry, I couldn't resist! I fell asleep (or my brain just wore out) shortly after halftime - did they say how bad the injury was?

Oubre • Nov 08, 2015 02:53 PM

@wissoxfan83 Cool story about Darnell ! As far as Mario, I don't know - he was a very, very good player, but for reasons I can't really put my finger on , he wasn't one of my favorites. I thought about that when I put Scot on there - he wasn't the greatest player to ever wear a Jayhawk uniform, but he sure was (is) entertaining and charismatic.

@jayballer54 I just want to congratulate you for even speaking of football. It's still a sport, right? There are still things to be said about it. Not all are things worthy to be written...... but they exceeded my expectations last night. I think Willis is going to be a VERY good QB before it's all over.

My dad lives in Austin and is a Texas fan - before the game he guessed it would be a scoreless game, 0-0. I predicted 58-10. It's nice to outsmart my dad once in a while.

Oubre • Nov 08, 2015 02:01 PM

@Bosthawk Some of my favorites go back before 1985 (Hey - I'm old). I never saw him play, but Wilt will always be my favorite, college or pro. After that, in no particular order:

Jeff Boschee

Nick Collison

Jacque Vaughn

Danny Manning

Milt Newton

Raef LaFrentz

*Paul Pierce

Mark Turgeon

T-Rob

Jo-Jo- White

Perry Ellis ( yes, I said it!)

*Drew Gooden

AAron Miles

Steve Woodberry

Kevin Pritchard

Scot Pollard

Kirk Heinrich

Darnell Valentine

Jerod Haase

Russell Robinson

Frank Mason III

    • am still slightly ticked that they left after Junior year. Guess how I feel about OAD's ?
Oubre • Nov 07, 2015 12:54 PM

I'll be the bad guy...

Add Wiggins, Embiid, Selby, any other of names to this list. They seem like good young men, and I wish all players well who have worn a Jayhawk uniform at some brief point in their lives, but they mean nothing to me personally.

I have no warm fuzzy feelings for any of the OAD's - how could I? I barely knew them.

Can't wait • Nov 06, 2015 09:17 PM

@Crimsonorblue22 Nice.

I'll bet you a thousand dollars that at every away game we play this year, someone in the crowd will have a sign that says: YOU'RE NOT IN KANSAS ANY MORE.

Even at the K-State game, because they probably don't really know where they're at.

Can't wait • Nov 06, 2015 09:03 PM

@Crimsonorblue22 I don't seem to have that problem....

Can't wait • Nov 06, 2015 08:39 PM

@Crimsonorblue22 CAN'T WAIT for you to get home

Help! • Nov 06, 2015 04:59 PM

@Crimsonorblue22 I've been seeing weird posts on here for a couple of years.....

Eligibility • Nov 05, 2015 02:02 PM

@SoftballDad2011 awwwww - we've done OK without him for the past 116 seasons - I think we'll be fine.

Eligibility • Nov 05, 2015 01:52 PM

@SoftballDad2011 DUDE!!!

I can't make a decision like that this early in the morning!

How do you think we'd do without him?????

Oh crap - I'll go with Diallo - I wouldn't remember what to do with the 22 year olds any more.... :(

Eligibility • Nov 05, 2015 11:47 AM

@drgnslayr I think I heard about the same thing. Something like " He WILL play ball at Kansas, we just don't know exactly when ".

But at the same time I think I heard my wife say " Sure, you can have a bunch of scantily clad 22 year old girls over to watch all the games. And I'll clean house and cook for them too. " Something like that.....

@joeloveshawks Has she stocked up a nice supply of TV dinners for you?

I Love A Parade! • Nov 04, 2015 02:52 PM

@RockChalkinTexas I'll be the first to admit I haven't been a baseball fanatic for a long time - until the last two years. But I'm confused about the SI caption: "How the relentless Royals ran off with a World Series title no one saw coming".

Weren't the baseball guru's crowning the Royals as champs even as far back as the All-Star break? In fact, I thought I heard one announcer say that the Royals were the first team he could remember that went from the start of the season to the finish as being the team that should win it all. ??

Self Quote • Nov 04, 2015 12:30 PM

@SoftballDad2011 One of these days he'll be saying "Hey, as a freshman, you're learning. As a sophomore, you're stubborn. If you're a junior or a senior you should be on another team because all of the kids that age have already left Lawrence for the NBA".

I Love A Parade! • Nov 03, 2015 10:56 PM

@globaljaybird I'd heard about that - very cool and classy. Makes me hate them just a teeny bit less for beating us last year! Lol

Royal Takeaways • Nov 03, 2015 09:51 PM

@drgnslayr "He doesn’t burden them with micromanagement. He doesn’t script them with demands in key situations."

Not trying to be sarcastic or funny - if my boss was like Ned Yost, my life would be one heck of a lot less stressful and more productive.

@drgnslayr I used to not really like Kenny Rogers.

Now I kinda hate him.

Would Appreciate Ideas about TV • Nov 01, 2015 03:58 PM

@Crimsonorblue22 Are you really?

Anway - it's the COST. Service is rarely bad, but when it is, it's terrible.

Would Appreciate Ideas about TV • Nov 01, 2015 03:11 PM

I've had all I can stands (I can't stands no more) with the commies at Cox - any ideas about Direct TV vs Dish Network? I would really appreciate your feedback. Thanks!

By looking at the crowd on TV yesterday, someone made a :dollar: FORTUNE :dollar: selling The Invisible Man costumes.

Matt Tait article on KU ball • Oct 31, 2015 04:13 PM

@JRyman By definition, when you're passionate about something, you act differently than things you don't care about at all. We're all KU fans here (mostly!). We care. We have ideas about what will work and what won't. You're so right saying that we spew things out from these electronic devices that we would never say in public. At least I hope we wouldn't. And the "5 minute rule" from Barkley is a great one, though I don't twitter or facebook - I have hit the "Discard" tab MANY, MANY times. Probably not often enough though. The times that I do "get into it" with other posters, I really feel some regret. Why is my opinion better than theirs? Or theirs better than mine? I've had some pretty darn good discussions through starting a chat with an apology and it's almost always worked out to where both parties feel better about the whole situation. It's going to happen - thank God we don't all think the same way. For the most part, people on this site have done a great job of keeping things sanitary and non-venomous. Those of us who haven't always done that , hopefully we're working on it !

@KansasComet Sugar Honey Iced Tea.

Nice!

A couple of days ago I would have said

Sure Happy It's Thursday.

19 Jayhawks in the NBA! • Oct 30, 2015 11:07 AM

@RockkChalkk Figure $500 to $1000 each for a decent tattoo, depending on whether it's black & gray or color and how intricate it is. More for larger ones.

PITTSBURG STATE GORILLAS • Oct 30, 2015 11:04 AM

In my son's Junior year of High School, we visited Pittsburg St. He's a computer engineer now, not a football player, but for the size of school, they have a really impressive football stadium. And the whole town is behind the school. When we were there, almost every home and business had a PSU (not Penn St) flag or banner or something flying. It was pretty neat to see a town behind a school like that. It doesn't happen in Salina. If I didn't drive by Kansas Wesleyan every day I wouldn't know it even existed.

@Texas-Hawk-10 I'm going to keep my reply just like me - short and simple.

You've torn into me a few times and until I read your post just now, I would have been highly surprised to hear that you were a Christian. Make no mistake about it - I'm glad you are!! I think those of us who are Christians need to make a real effort to have our words reflect that (myself included).

@drgnslayr The first commercial during "The Voice" ?

New KU women's coach ... • Oct 27, 2015 10:55 AM

@Crimsonorblue22 To greatly understate - I'm not a huge proponent of concealed carry. I think we tried the whole gun toting thing a hundred and some years ago and it didn't work out well then, I can't imagine it's going to work out well now. We ain't got any smarter since the Dodge City days.

And you're right to thank God - it was a miracle no one else got hurt.

"Who Wants To Be Next?" • Oct 20, 2015 10:54 AM

@drgnslayr "follow the leader" is a great point! Those are EXACTLY the kinds of kids I want to go to Kentucky. I want people who can think for themselves to come to Kansas. Let the followers go there, the leaders can come here.

Lauri Markkanen committed to Arizona • Oct 19, 2015 04:11 PM

@HighEliteMajor Thank you for saying it for me.

"Who Wants To Be Next?" • Oct 19, 2015 04:10 PM

@justanotherfan I'm too old, and old school to make a relevant argument. My perfect recruits are guys like Raef, Kirk, Nick, Danny - well, there's too many to mention. But I want hard nosed, tough, decent kids who are willing to play the game to win championships and not kids who are only there because their favorite rapper is being paid to advertise for the school. I guess that's great for the OAD's, but I would never let my son choose a school for an idiotic reason like that.

"Who Wants To Be Next?" • Oct 19, 2015 03:02 PM

@drgnslayr It makes them look even more stupid when they fail.

@jaybate-1.0 They need high heels!

are we improving? • Oct 18, 2015 02:03 PM

@Crimsonorblue22 Caption: "OK - juice and graham crackers and a 5 minute nap, right after the next timeout".

Lol - I was very, very impressed with the baby-faced QB. The whole team, actually. Well, besides the field goal kicker. I hate to single out individuals, but that game would have had a much different outcome with even an average FG kicker. I looked at the stats this morning and I think if you didn't know who won already - well, you wouldn't have known who won. The stats were as close to identical as they could reasonably be.

are we improving? • Oct 17, 2015 10:16 PM

@Crimsonorblue22 SERIOUSLY? 15?

You're aging him at least 3 extra years.
