What a poor start. Jeez. Townsend had the flu and had to try to tackle the runnner. Not a good start

KU back in top 25 at #22
Yes, sir, KU #22 in the AP and KState is #25, Let's keep it that waaaaaaaaaaay!
So, in advance of the all important Maui Benefit Exhibition Game, some students introduced a new mascot for Illinois recently: The Kingfisher. I really hope it shows up at the game, but I doubt it. I was looking for a Fighting Illini mascot and stumbled on The Kingfisher. Previously, the school used an indian chief as a mascot, but is in the process of changing.
I'm ready for the season to start to help put all the negatives behind us. Let's get our focus back on current players and basketball, please. Preseason #1 puts a huge target on KU's back, even for an exhibition game.
I'm excited to see the Maui Uni's. I think I'm one the few posters here who liked the sunflower uni's last year. I was ready for KU basketball when KU played in PR. I'll be rooting for an Illini butt kicking tonight.
Anyone else think Denver might be a close game today? Mahomes is recovering from the flu and for Denver this is their super bowl game. After today, the Chiefs travel to Germany to play the Dolphins, then play the Eagles. I sure hope our guys don't forget Denver has just enough talent and energy to upset an unfocused Chiefs' team.

I don't think Coach is going to treat this game as an exhibition game; going for the Illini throats. I fully expect all the majority minutes will go to the starting lineup throughout and no weird, experimental, let's see what happens lineups. With Kentucky on Nov 14 and Maui starting Nov 20, this preseason No 1 team must be in mid-season form immediately. RC
Personally I can't wait for the inevitable Jamari/Zach/Parker line-up today. :)
I'd only expect a Zack/Parker/Jamari/Jank/Cassidy line up if the same refs we had yesterday officiate this game and foul out all the starters.

Will the Big 12 fine KU for fans on the field?
@kjayhawks said in Will weather be a factor tomorrow /predictions:
Say what you will about the Booth but LL has these guys 9-2 over the last two seasons at home.
I really hope the first proposals on the new stadium reducing capacity to the low 40's goes out the window now that fans are in the stands.
Will KU move back into the top 25?
OU's strategy of letting us score that last TD seemed faulty at the time. OU held KU out all day at the goal line. NFL teams can drive the distance in 55 sec but that's not easy for a college team. Even with the questionable pass int call.
Starting to look like the OSt game where KU's errors and missed opportunities gave away the game
How to the refs not call pass interference? Shocking
These runs up the middle for losses are killing me. Please stop calling that play
OK first drive, but KU desperately needed points
@rockchalkjayhawk Thank goodness my hulu has the big 10 network. I've never watched one thing on it but I'll certainly watch Coach's return to the State Farm Center for the first time in 20 years. It may be just an exhibition game, but for me it's still a must win.
@mayjay said in Less than 1 week until game action!!:
@stoptheflop I have a bigger problem: we will not be home so I have to record both.
I will avoid all news and watch the Chiefs game when I get home, and KU later. Knowing that result is more ok because it is just an exhibition and the real point of watching those is to get to know the players and see how they mesh.
Both will involve my dream...no commercials or halftime blather!
I swear the best invention ever isn't electricity, television or computers, it's the mute button. I avoid all the blather with the mute button. Thank you Robert Adler, who invented the mute button in 1956 while working at Zenith Radio.
OK Chiefs fans, what is your solution to the overlap with the Illinois game? For me, watching a recorded/delayed game just isn't the same. So, I'll have two screens on and see how that works out. That crazy football statistic helps here: during a 3 hour game the active plays only total about 8 min. Oh yeah, and KC is playing Denver so the game could be decided early, but I'll still watch every play.
No secret scrimmage for KU. Illinois is coming right up. What does everyone think?
I sure thought OSt was offsides
@jayballer67 said in Hypothetical re: Bean:
HEY, Is Kenny Logan hurt ? - -- Haven't heard his name called once today. - -Is he playing ?
ESPN shows Logan with 4 tackles and .5 TFL
What crazy games for KU football: Last week our runners couldn't be stopped; this week Bean can hit any WR at will. Come on D.
Ok, got the ball on offense and the lead. Lets, go
The defense is playing like last year. Gave up over 200 yds passing in the first Q
I just don't recognize KU with these uniforms. Maybe that's why they are playing so badly.
No Jimmy the Greek predictons today? Our announcers are confident KU will handle the Pokes.
Well I guess that's why it's true that teams just have to play the games: Stanford was given no chance to beat Colorado, but prevailed in OT. I didn't stay up for the game and I'm not a Sanders hater, but I do think Colorado is being given way too much attention by the media. Yes, Colorado upset TCU, but the attention to Colorado is as overdone as the attention to Taylor Swift and Travis Kelsey.
So, KU starts out -3.5 at Okie State, as Bob Davis was fond of saying. Jason Bean did exactly what KU needed Saturday: no mistakes, just solid QB play. I've seen commenters already saying Jalon won't be back for OKST. I think Bean is our best option anyway. I haven't checked OKST's run defense, but utilizing our RBs sure seems to be the way forward for KU's offense. Rush Neal, Hishaw and McDuffie. 51 runs to 12 passes might just be our winning formula.
AP has KU ranked at #23. I wasn't expecting that
Wow, McDuffie looks great
Hishaw over 100. RC Now, please sit him and let the other guys carry the rock
I hope Hishaw get 5 more yds to break 100 today.
4 Q KU needs to get some reps for the 3rd and 4th string QBs. Especially if the OC is going to continue to have Bean run the ball. We still need another win to go bowling
McDuffie. TD Yeah
I know it's open, but I sure wish Bean wouldn't run the ball with this big lead.
Time to work in some of the reserves, like McDuffie, Morrison and Locklin. Get them some carries.
@jayballer67 said in Say Goodnight to the Knights:
Got to come out strong here in the 2nd half. - -Take the kick off and drive down score right off the bat. - -Dam Hishaw would just run through you instead of run around you-- - physical
Hishaw is a great compliment to Neal's elusive style of running
Wow, the defense really has shown up. RC
No reason in hell for Bean to run the ball. C Florida is just going to take extra hard shots at him
Please, please just keep running the ball
Fellas came to play today. All Business
@FarmerJayhawk said in Say Goodnight to the Knights:
Good stop. Letβs put them away early
What Farmer said "Put them away early."
Bean seems to always overthrow receivers. But at least KU got 3
First, Bean cannot get hurt. Can you just imagine a Big 12 game without Daniels or Bean because of injuries. So, please don't call QB runs unless it's like Mahomes does it where he runs 10 yds and scoots out of bounds without being touched. We need the RBs to dominate on offense, then take some shots downfield after KU has established the run. On defense, Plumlee threw 2 INTs in both games he played this year. KU needs some INTs today, so the defensive line must put constant pressure on the QB. This is a must win!
I want to see the KU defense that dominated Illinois show up today; where in the hell have they been? A win today will take a complete game from both our offense and defense. I'd like to see KU run the ball the first couple of series to let Bean settle in. Oh how this season has changed: underdogs to Central Florida at home. Come on now.
I still see this game as a must win for KU. Jason Bean has to play well enough not to lose the game. Neal, Hishaw and McDuffie have got to have huge games. KU's offense and fans will just have to move on without Jalon Daniels.
Wow, what a surprising result. I wonder if the strange Friday night time had an affect on the players. But, KU must find a way to win at home today.
Well, the UCF Knights roll into Lawrence fresh off a big lead most of the game/loss to Baylor. I had to look up the school in Orlando. That could be a fun away game to attend if Disney World still exists next year. The Atlantic is about a 30 minute drive from campus. Sounds like a more fun away game than Manhattan or Stillwater. I consider this game a must win for us on Saturday.
I'm sure glad I had the new Craig Johnson novel to distract me during the 4th Q. I'm still trying to find a single positive thing from that game.
Yep, 4th and 1, let's try it up the middle again
