@wissox Something tells me his next game against WVU is going to be special.
He's got a lot of learning in a short amount of time. Can he develop in 2-3 games? I hope so. I can just about say for certainty, this will be a kind of early development time for next season. I hope he can provide all that he can, and then step into next season as a STUD.
I got nothing. Whatever...moving on. Bye Billy and good luck. Next...
@Fightsongwriter Yep, even moreso.
If you read that NCAA article concerning "changes" by Emmert, it might just be the reason for Billy's delay. I thought Billy would be fairly quick with all the work completed by the KU compliance dept. I actually thought Silvio's might take some time as they reviewed his overseas play. But the NCAA has been preoccupied with this FBI mess. They have devoted an enormous amount of attention, time, and effort to addressing this big picture.
Maybe NOW they will look at Billy...smh

It still looks like Doke will probably come back. Silvio will be back. Our post is looking jammed!
Maybe not. Self did a great job in '08 with Kaun, DJ, and Shady. Look where that got us...sayin'
Let's focus on and beat Faylor first.
@Careful-you I thought his comment to the seniors, "I'm out of ideas guys..." was interesting.
Sad day for KU and all of basketball. We lost one of the true greats. Thoughts and prayers to the White family.
@mayjay Mitch is coming along nicely and hopefully he maintains that play. I don't think he's near a ceiling. I'd like him to get more consistent from that trey.
@BShark Loves it
@Fightsongwriter Oh it's very real
Folks we just EARNED that win in what many thought would be loss. Rock Freakin' Jayhawk
Welp? Proud as hell. What a hard fought game and I get to celebrate...Geesh.
We have a game?
@JayHawkFanToo Refs coming around?
Svi
Damn the TOs
WVU wants a shoot out
Svi decided to shoot
what's the arc % ?
Let's hope we get a few breaks and our shooters come alive anytime now.
@JayHawkFanToo Futile comment
How many TOs does SM have at this point?
Don't look now but we are within 7
WVU shooting is horrible. If we can catch a spark, we can close and maybe get a lead.
Graham has missed 2 treys. We don't need treys....need to work it inside and cut the lead.
Why are you all so surprised? We all knew this would happen. Let's not blame the refs either. They are up for this game after TT. They still have to come to the Phog and we still have to go down to Lubbock and OU. This season isn't over by any means. Let's see what happens with Billy after this game, right? If there isn't a ruling soon, something is definitely wrong with some ruling for or against Billy.
@dylans How many of us have pondered the possibility of a B12 championship v. NC? Both can be done, but some of us have actually asked do we want conference championships or a NC.
I'd like both, but it's extremely difficult to do both. I would take this year's record, maybe miss a 14th conference title, but win a NC. I just hope the B12 enters the tourney as strong, or stronger than conference play. I hope the B12 translates into the dance. We've had more teams in the dance, only to disappoint. Maybe this is the year KU steps up and maybe 1-2 other B12 teams.
Here's the issue. It's obviously a really good year for the B12. But the problem is, can each of these teams sustain consistency? My guess is the B12 will be back to the usual B12 that most are used to seeing next year. Think about it...KU will have arguably the top class next year. WVU loses Jevon Carter. It looks like TT will likely lose 1-2 key players, and return a few to be competitive. OU will lose Trae Young. Young was as good as gone the minute he committed to OU. My guess is TCU will lose and have a bit of a rebuild, with a few key pieces. I've lost track of BU and UT. So, the B12 needs to enjoy this season as possibly one of if not the most competitive it's ever been.
The problem isn't about the B12 being tough like it is this year, but can they find a string of seasons as the deepest and toughest conference in the nation? KU has carried the league and frankly did us no favors going into the NCAA tourney, and frankly has really been difficult. Many have wondered why KU wins the B12, but struggles in the tourney. I wonder what this type of competitiveness would do for us each year as we go into the tourney? It's got to be good.
Well here's to a good game tonight. I hope to be celebrating a good hard fought win.
Actually, I hope our fans will restrain themselves and maintain the classy fan base they truly are in the B12. I know they won't storm any court either.

BUT to say this is what Huggy has taught this kid? -That's just a little bit off the charts. - -Just because people have problems with the aggressiveness of how WV plays - and yes the muggings they hand out to opposing players a lot of time - -To say Huggy teaches his kids to swing at fans - - couldn't be further of base - that's just a crazy statement. - -No person in their right mind is gonna say Bob Huggins is going to teach his players to take swings at fans - -Come on, let's get a grasp on reality. - - -ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY
Wow...I didn't say Huggy teaches his players to punch fans. COME ON, man, it is ludicrous to think a coach would teach a player to punch anyone, on or off the court. Obviously the young player lost control and was sore. I actually don't have a problem with WVU's play. I welcome hustle play and solid competition that makes a team better.
All good points and love the reality check too.
Reprimand? Slap on the wrist? Sportsmanship conduct of WVU? Well we all know that he was reacting to what he is taught on the court by Huggy Bear. So this is WVU sportsmanship? Hitting opposing fans? This makes me proud of JTray and he set the standard to how a class act player conducts himself in adverse, hostile environments.
Make the B12 proud Huggy and keep the player until after the season and then suspend the hell of the players that acted in accordance with your sportsman like conduct. Again, this is NOT bball and certainly not the B12. Let's see how Huggy responds to this because now it's his turn after TT was fined $25,000. It is MLK Day, a day of service. Maybe they will punish the player/s in question to civic duty by going to schools in the Motown area and speak against bullying.
I was hoping KU would celebrate MLK day by freeing Billy Preston to play in this game after serving an ungodly amount of suspensions. Well, I guess we see the real score in the B12. Oh...thank you to Bowlsby for all the help on these issues.
I was reviewing Billy's case when Self announced that it was "out of KU's hands." Self announced this Dec 20. KU began the investigation Nov 11. All the paperwork gained was over a month. They submitted it Dec 20 and he has served a suspension for too many games. Now they are conducting their fact finding? So, if KU took from Nov 11 - Dec 20, the ncaa has had Dec 20 - 23. Let's give them Dec 24-Jan2. We are now Jan 14?
I'm sorry if you don't smell something, you're kinda stupid. The ncaa has had plenty of time to take all that KU gathered and review it. They should've had a ruling the week of Jan 2, or Jan 11 at the latest. The break shouldn't be that big of a problem. Everyone is using the break as an excuse.
Either they have a ruling of indefinite suspension, or they have decided to let him play with time served and are trying to carefully craft some kind of official position to the public. Something tells me that it's the later. If they were going to suspend him indefinitely, they would have ruled already. So, whatever KU gave them, made them think twice. I have a good feeling that he might be freed soon. The question is, when? He has served more than enough suspension time, so they can't add anymore suspensions. The only other penalty would be indefinite suspension meaning Billy goes bye-bye.
Maybe like Silvio, we'll all wake up Monday and learn he's free to play against WVU. What a great announcement on Jan 15.
WVU is a possible B12 conference champion? They really need to learn how to conduct themselves in a hostile environment. The question isn't whether there will be suspensions, but when. My guess is suspensions will take place after the KU game in Motown. The punching player should be suspended, and the other 1-2 players behind the punching incident should also be suspended.
This is unacceptable and has nothing to do with bball. A team has got to learn how to conduct themselves. Let's see what happens and more importantly when it happens. It will likely take the rest of the year to decide what officials will do about this incident. The fan did nothing to provoke the player. Even if a fan "bumps" a player accidentally, the player, like JTray, must use restraint like JTray. The ksuck fan intentionally bumped JTray and he was dealt with appropriately. I don't think this player should be suspended for one game. But I see it as the player not conducting himself as a student athlete. Rather he has issues that need to be addressed by WVU. The player should be suspended for the remainder of the season. I don't care if he is JCarter or a 3rd string scout player. This has got to stop. The B12 has already addressed this and has a policy. Let's see how it's enforced.
@BShark Simple strategy for Huggy. If they foul all the time, the refs simply won't call it all the time.
Weber has officially lost his damn mind. I think we all question calls, but in the end, you don't lose on any one call. It's how your team plays. I question many calls against KU, but in the end, KU loses. The refs don't lose games for teams. The refs don't score points or coach teams.
Weber's job must be based on beating KU. He can lose to any other team, but if he loses to KU, he's fired. Also, fined? What 'fine' is he talking about. He babbles like an idiot.
@Bwag We missed too many of those layups in the ksu game today. I'm flummoxed at why this team can't quite finish at the rim at times. I was taken by Svi's missed dunk. It was a great move, but he couldn't finish. You have to be really strong and prevent any defender from challenging the shot. He went too soft and the ksu kid disrupted enough for him to miss the flush.
Also, did the foul on Stockard III look familiar against Doke. He backed into Doke ... it looked too similar and thought the foul was on Doke, like last time. Big Doke came down awkward yet again.
@JayHawkFanToo Haha, yep...just glad to see him on the court. I feel better already.
@kjayhawks Better not be us because our next game with the Frogs will be in the Phog. Let's hope the boyz have the home losing funk removed at this point.
@JayHawkFanToo And we go to Motown.
The WVU and TT game is going to be interesting. I think a TT victory just might be in order?
1 pt win in Lawrence? Too close for comfort. But I'll take it. Beggars can't be ... you know...too picky right now. Wins are going to be ugly going forward. Its a dog eat dog conference.
Oh oh oh...please please do not underestimate the Izzo. He's one of, if not, the best NCAA tourney coaches in the league. I don't care what they do in their conference. But he is proven in the tourney. His teams always go deep. Also, there are other teams that are the same as MSU. Don't sleep on him, and MSU. I respect Izzo, and if something ever happened to Self, I would have no problem KU getting Izzo. Something tells me you wouldn't either. Besides, this is a very inconsistent year for many top teams.
In fact, regardless of what happens to KU, I have MSU as one of my F4 teams. I see Nova as another at this point. But the other two are wide open. WVU is making a great argument. KU has some work to do if they want to be in this convo.
I really feel for Billy. But something tells me he will have a good career with or without KU. I know his heart was set on playing for KU. Well, it ain't over till it's over. Here's hoping someone at the ncaa has some heart, if not for KU, at least for a young player that fell victim to the stupid OAD rules.
@BShark We are we with our schollies? Now we have DeSousa, unless he has a monster second half, which I doubt, he will likely take some paper.
Amen to Dedric. I'm hearing some really solid info. This kid is going to be some what like BMac in terms of sitting out. He's definitely going to make a big contribution next year. He brings a lot to what will be needed.
If Doke returns, your returners with Marcus and Dedric are going to be interesting pieces for these incoming freshmen. Can you imagine what Doke and Dedric will provide to the bigs? DeSousa is a bonus.
@BShark The one advantage for DeSousa this year is that it will pay huge dividends for next year.
All I know is we deserve a break after this crazy year.
