@BeddieKU23 Anyone can shoot. Not everyone can make them. I can shoot, but I can't make them.
Grady Dick gets some run in a blowout and shoots 1-8 on 3 pointers. Ouch.
Bill has averaged about a loss a season at home I think. Unscathed this year so far. To be honest I'm always super impressed when teams come into AFH and beat us. That must be an all time high for a lot of those teams and their fans that do.
Wow, starting the game thread a day early. This is uncharted territory!
I like this idea even if all the experts here say it won't work. Since I'm not an expert I just say go for it. "Zach Clemence, your table is ready".
@Crimsonorblue22 I see what you were questioning now. I changed it to Purdue. Now it's correct....I think!
@kjayhawks Me too. I can think of some other wildcats I like to lose as well!
Northwestern gets called for 31 fouls to 15 for Purdue, resulting in 46 FT attempts to 8 for NU. Ridiculous disparity and NU was still able to take them to OT. I didn't watch but it may have partially been a hack a zach strategy as he shot almost 17 and missed 9. I guess Chris Collins lost it at the end of OT and get two techs.
Kentucky just loses at home to unranked Florida.
@Jayblaze Why would you propose Kevin come off the bench? I know he's a little gimpy but we can't get too gaga over Elmarko's production last night. It was a worst I've ever seen OSU team he did that against and also without Bryce.
@dylans Thanks, now I don't have to watch 5 hours of pregame shows!
Frickin ESPN. Missed the first 8 minutes of the game.
@stoptheflop Sorry, but I don't follow NFL that much, and I know I could look it up but who did Purdy play for? How good was he? Like not against us because everyone against us was Joe Namath, but against real competition?
Game coming up would have been more interesting had Detroit decided that going to a Super Bowl is not worth the bother. Revenge game kind of for the Chiefs, and maybe much of the world against the Chiefs because Detroit has a very blah history with big NFL games, and well the Chiefs are the dynasty that many want to see get dethroned. But KC/SF, I'll pull for the Chiefs although I kind of dislike the tomahawk chop thing, needs to go by the wayside. (do chief fans still do it?). But SF fans don't need to win another Super Bowl either. They get to live in perpetual nice weather with spectacular scenery all around, but at least they are still paying like 5 bucks for gas unlike the rest of us!
LOL, great thread name!
I vaguely remember being aware of them. Was much too absorbed in trying to become the next Yankees centerfielder to care about some girls basketball team that I could have dominated had I played against them. Two things happened, I learned the Yankees had better prospects and when i went to KU I learned that some of those womens Jayhawk players would play with us guys in the offseason and totally embarrass us. I played one who was phenomenal. I asked her (being new to KU) if she was Lynette Woodard, she laughed and said she was a bench player on the womans team! I was just mature enough at that point to realize I was not a very good basketball player!
@benshawks08 I like your thinking. It's inevitable that when a team is struggling a bit you can look at the rankings and someone will complain saying ranked too high. To which I say, well who should be higher then?
Then I went to look at the rankings and saw this power ranking thing which just proves the E$PN love affair for Duke.
"While Duke is 3-1 in its past four games, the Blue Devils during that stretch have not looked like a team capable of making a deep run in March. They had to come back to beat Georgia Tech, lost at home to Pitt, looked underwhelming against a dreadful Louisville team and then escaped after a late foul call against Clemson. Defensively, there have been real issues. They've allowed at least 1.03 points per possession in each of those games and they're struggling to put pressure on the ball. Pitt, Louisville and Clemson combined for just 27 turnovers." Not much good written about Duke there, right? Well above that says Previous Week 15, This Week 9. So a crappy two week span and Borzello moves them up 6 spots!
@BeddieKU23 I didn't have a huge negative feeling on this one.
ISU fan tweeted this: β Kansas might be my second favorite team now cause I feel so bad that you share a state with that other schoolβ
-
ISU and their fans may not be everyones cup of tea but they really bring a lot of energy to the gym. They're idiots but it feeds energy to their team and ISU seems to be always skilled enough to feed off it and regularly challenge us or beat us.
-
For the 2nd Saturday in a row, down 2, we've had a call go against us (last week the clean steal by Elmarko and the almost sure run out to a game tying hoop) and today around the 1 minute mark a missed travel call against them would've given the ball down two inside a minute left chance to tie or take the lead. But Kansas gets all the calls.
-
I'm a little puzzled by the Bill Self tech. Seemed pretty clear the kid got swiped across the head.
-
Too many careless turnovers. Passes either telegraphed, or off target. Announcer kept telling us ISU forces a lot of TO's and maybe they do but today they seemed to be a lot of unforced errors.
-
Read it in the game thread, but KJ is such a liability at the line that teams are going to start fouling him so that he maybe only scores 1 or even 0. His formerly deadly 10 foot jumper seemingly has abandoned him as well.
-
If DaJuan had scored 1 more point we most likely would have won given his when DaJuan scores 10 or more stat.
-
Saw video of old clone fans behind the bench mocking Bill Self when he got his T. Fine with me, They've seen one of their teams in the FF way back when Marcus Fiezer was around. We've had 6 in that time period and 2 championships. If they want to look like immagure old dudes on twitter, godspeed old clones.
-
I hate watching bigs camp in the lane without whistles. Edey does it, Hunter does it, ISU did it a bunch today. Dang just blow the whistle. Guys will learn not to do it.
-
I just kind of wish Johnny would stop playing so well, LOL, I just don't want him going pro which seems to be the chatter.
-
DaJuan and Hunter are our top 3 point shooters, Johnny is 3rd. DaJuans today was impressive, I believe it was a shot clock beating swish. I don't want him to become high volume but he's made 18, an average of 1 a game of course, but 2 a game would be better.
-
At this point I'm just kind of holding out hope the post season team gets hot and it turns into a memorable season. This is just feeling like one of those top 3 seed teams that gets embarrassingly run from the dance in the 2nd round which is when it always seems to happen.
-
Rock Chalk Bucketeers!
Duke bailed out big time today.
Congrats ISU. You got your big dub of the year.
Nice comeback. We'll survive. We're all kind of in the same mindset on this team.
They definitely missed the travel before that 3. Went back and watched it. What a shame.
2 on the shot clock. Why weren't they all up in that guys face?
@Crimsonorblue22 Against who? I don't remember.
Here come the Hawks, the might Blackhawks, er um Jayhawks!
No team has ever come back from 9 points.
I'm a great one for complaining about refs, but we've taken 17 FT's them 13. First half I had more ref gripes.
Rewatched, may have been with the body.
Oh my goodness, KJ with the block of the year and they call a freaking foul.
We're scoring every time down. Need a stop or two.
@jayballer67 How does that make him shit?
We've been getting a favorable whistle this half.
Did anyone notice in the first half an ISU guy camped in the lane, you could hear HCBS yell 3 seconds, and the refs ignored it and ISU made a 3 on the 5th second he was in the lane?
Only the 90 year olds in the stands are old enough to remember ISU in the Final Four. 1944.
Get a stop or two again.
KJ read my comment to bench him!
See all those college students wearing those silly wigs? They've never in their lifetime seen a team sniff the final four. This game every year is their freaking reason for existence.
I thought there was no continuation in college.
@DCHawker said in KU vs Cryclones Game Chat:
ISU has 27 pts from 3 - we have 3....
That's why we're losing.
Why wouldn't you sit KJ instead? He only has 2 points, 3 RBs, 2 TO's (1 less than Kev), 3 fouls. Nobody is making outside shots and a lot of guys are making silly turnovers but sit Kevin. Brilliant keyboard analysis.
Yeah lets sit Kevin and lose for sure.
OK, whatever jayballer.
"Kev and Hunter better get their heads out of their ...." I read. Good grief. We'd be losing by about 20 if those guys weren't playing decently. I know fans get frustrated, but these guys have to play virtually every minute because the bench is so thin. I peaked at that comment while catching up on the DVR and thought, oh crap we must have fallen apart, and we hadn't. Crazy talk.
Behind on th DVR, but my comment right now is refs not dooing us any favors.
In Madison for a good one against Lizzo and the Spartans
@Crimsonorblue22 Game is on CBS so no worries about Fran!
If a male coach acted as badly as Kim Mulkey at LSU does he'd be banned from the game. Didn't see the game last night, but she certainly has a style that wouldn't be tolerated. She makes some of our crazier male coaches like Fran up in Iowa look like choir boys.
Michigan has a guy who's free to leave now because of Harbaugh leaving and he has a great combo name of Mason Graham. All that was great about two of our heros rolled into one football player!
@wissox my post has nothing to do with the fan base which is fairly classless it seems.
@Zabudda I've always been an admirer of ISU. Back to the Jeff Grayer days with crusty old Johnny Orr coaching to the Hoiberg years, for some reason that's the one school that really for 40 years of my KU fandom has been just about the toughest out for us, whether in Ames or in Lawrence. All time we have a decided advantage, winning 189-67. In Ames we're 71-47. They've only won 16 times in Lawrence.
