@RockChalkinTexas the Jayhawks could beat the Spurs.
Drove over a razor blade on the way to work today. Gave me a flat tire in about 30 seconds, enough time to get off the main road without a shoulder that I was driving on. It's been that kind of day! @BeddieKU23 Thanks, I figured I was mishearing it, but it's kind of fun to use my imagination
@kjayhawks Reminds me of a Johnny Cash song.
And a kid named Fandango? Does he sell movie tickets? I'm becoming a Fandango of Phurphy or however you spell his Aussie name.
They got a kid named precocious? Wow
I hope DePaul doesn't lure Bill Self away to replace their fired coach.
@nuleafjhawk If Cincy spanks us I'll personally mail you all gift certificates to your favorite Lawrence dining establishments and drive there all the way from Chicago to serve you the meals and call you jayhawks majesty as I'm doing so.
What it do Jayhawk bucketeer nation??!! Lets get this win and welcome the barecats to the Big 12 AllenFieldHouse style.
@dylans They've beat us so often in Morgantown they have streamlined the storm courting (a nod to the doofus announcer who called it called it something like that the other day!) process pretty well!
Amazing watching Nick Dunlap win today. He's the first amateur to win an event since Phil in 1991. Did anyone watch? Ran into the start of the Chiefs game so i'm sure many were distracted but it was cool to watch. The kid grew up on a golf course so he has had a few advantages, and genetics gave him a lanky physique with muscles attached to the parts that are impressive. He'll be a force on the tour I'd imagine in years to come. Christian Buizendhuit (hows that for a name) got the winners share of 1.6 million, although I'd guess since he grew up on a golf course, and is likely making some nice NIL coin that it doesn't hurt as much.
I've been right a lot. 1988, 2008, 2022 I've predicted we'd win it all. In all fairness I've been wrong all the other years.
But I don't want to take away your shine! Congrats on the brilliant legal mind that you have that we don't possess.
Now if you could tell us who's gonna be president a year from now...
We've seen some close calls over the years with court stormings, part of the cost of being top dog for so long. Well today, Iowa's Caitlin Clark got blindsided by an Ohio State fan. It knocked her to the floor, got the wind knocked out of her, fortunately nothing else happened.
It's one practice I wouldn't mind seeing go by the wayside. A Tulane fan shoved a Memphis player after upsetting them recently. Trying to remember what happened to us at Silo tech. I wish for once in a day of instant news and instant outrage that the NCAA would be proactive and figure out a way to prevent it from happening instead of knee jerk reacting after someone does get seriously hurt. Caitlin Clark nearly getting hurt should be that impetus.
Gurley and Hanni on the radio near the end of the game were saying that WVU was missing quite a few guys earlier in the year. I noticed 3 guys who played key roles yesterday who have played in only 8, or fewer, games. So I think their poor record is a bit misleading is what Hanni and Gurley were saying. I'm not saying we couldn't have beat them but it sounds like they were really missing some guys that would have made their record and ranking higher.
Gurley just freaked out on the Elmarko call on the radio. Usually the media guys hold back a little bit on ref calls but not there.
@dylans said in KU vs No More Huggy Bear Game Chat:
Stort korming is something the announcer said twice.
Haha, Couldn't watch the game, but saw the last minute at a friends because I heard Gurley freak out on the Elmarko alleged foul so I wanted to watch that play. Then I heard the dude say that stort corming! Didn't make me feel much better but I'm also glad I couldn't watch.
@approxinfinity Any coach that beats us is an asshat!
@mayjay I liked Bobby Knight. The hires since have been bad with Sampson corrupt, Creen inneffective, and miller a jerk. Woodson doesn't have it either, but as a BIG fan, I've always thought it's good for the league.
Agreed on your axis of evil, except I would add Iowa and Minnesota to it!
I always want everyone to stay, except for the Miami football player who was just granted his 9th year of eligibility.
Badgers lose to Indiana 53-52....in the 2nd half. Yes that was the 2nd half score and this is not your Badger team of old obviously. Badgers beat them for the 20th straight time in the Kohl Center. Indy isn't that bad, but they just look bad, trailing by 23, having a guy ejected for the 3rd time in the last 4 games for a flagrant foul. Indiana twitter is in full meltdown.
Terrence Shannon got an injunction giving him the right to play again.
I just wonder how many NBA busts from guys who left early, especially those who were good college players like Grady, made a mint, but never saw the court in the league would have traded in all that money for the opportunity to stay in school and be the BMOC? Economics determines some of that I'm aware, but how many have regrets?
I know some say once a Jayhawk always a Jayhawk. I understand that but that's not for me. You got to earn that title for me. Good luck Grady, but you gave up the chance for a ring, which they'd probably be overwhelming favorites right now had he stayed. Enjoy your future career in Europe.
Sox supposedly talking about a new stadium in the south loop. I welcome it.
Memphis loses a home game to 135 ken pom South Florida. I've been trying to figure out why Memphis is a trendy FF pick right now. Guess I got my answer. Memphis has four wins against ranked teams, none of whom are ranked anymore.
@Crimsonorblue22 What do you mean cover ups?
@wissox And as I'm just finished Izzo gets T-d up, in a game against Big 10, worst non conference schedule low life Minnesota.
How much time do you all expect Izzo to stick around? I watch a lot of BIG ball of course and I'm just shocked to turn on a game and see them struggling like they are right now with a team like Minnesota. Izzo has had some well publicized confrontations with kids who are increasingly getting under his skin and dissing him. Shocking really to see because a younger Izzo just had utmost respect from his players. He's 68 years old, hanging on longer than most of his peers, but I suppose the thirst to win another ring keeps him pressing on.
@Crimsonorblue22 Was just coming here to say that. I'm still upset we lost to them. I'm still upset they're in our league to be honest.
@drgnslayr I can't imagine leaving KU basketball.
@RockChalkinTexas Paid attendance, I'm doubtful that many people were in there!
Well had to watch on the DVR, and that was as relaxed as I've been in a while. I get bored when we blow out the Central Cloud County States of the world, but never get bored when it's a conference game.
So much to like about this. Fun seeing the fast offense, a rarity in Bill Self days, but they can get up the floor so quickly and convert. And convert they did, Timberlake with the amazing dunk, KJ amazing, Hunter calm and steady and DaJuan flying all over OK. McCullar was really good with 8 assists and 18 points, All American kind of stuff, bench guys contributed a bit, McDowell the only non scorer among them.
One more ESPN+ game, then I think the rest will be live semi free TV.
@mayjay Wow, fighting fire with great American culture! I like it!!
@Crimsonorblue22 That's a nice read. Since they're a school that really only cares about football, I don't think too many of their fans are going to be as nostalgic of it all as Castiglione is being. Going to the SEC, they're going to play before largely indifferent fans, although maybe a border rivalry in basketball develops with Arkansas? Their timing with the advent of the 12 team playoff is impeccable because the path to the 4 team playoff got much harder in their new league.
Houston is ranked 5th in the country and is in 7th place in our conference.
@AsadZ Your post made it look like you thought it wasn't an upset. Sometimes I have trouble figuring out what someone is responding to on here!
@AsadZ I think thats an upset. We had no business losing to that team.
@kuballin10 You don't know how to discuss, you just bully through with your way and none of the rest of us have a clue. Discussion is fine, we do it all the time here and disagree too of course. But you don't know how. The only kudos I'll give you is people frequently get pissed off by what you write and you don't resort to name calling etc, but that's rarely anyone's MO here, which is one reason why we're here.
Illinois lost. this past weeks top 11, Purdue, lost, Houston Lost, Zona lost, UConn survived, Rocky Top, loss, Mildcats, loss, 2022 runnerup, won, OU, two time loser, Marquette, two time loser. Of course our favorite team did too. That's 9 of 11 teams losing that were highly ranked.
Watched the 10 minute highlight video since I couldn't watch the game. Saw some good stuff from Furphy. While listening to Gurley, I heard him say this about Furphy. "OU player (don't remember his name) eyes are wide whenever he sees Johnny guarding him because he knows he can score.
There aren't many starting point guards in the good old US of A who can match DeJuans resume. "Starting point guard, 2022 national championships. I'm sorry that one dude doesn't like him, but he's one my all time favorites. I know he has faults. I love his story.
Couldn't watch (cheapskate). Went X-Country skiing instead. Listened in car to some of 2nd half. After a bucket load of TO's last game Bill must have preached ball security and everyone must have been paying attention because 2 TO's for a game is remarkable.
Bench, newsflash, very little production, I think that's gonna be this teams downfall in March. Nice bounce back from HD.
Next game on TV, OSU. Screw ESPN and their putting a top 10 game on ESPN+. They literally have Temple/North Texas on ESPNU and ESPN2 simultaneously right now. I know, we got spoiled seeing every game. Here's an idea. I've paid for ESPN for 20 years. For a few years they had ESPN3, no extra charge. Bring that back for all of us who already pay for ESPN.
@dylans That's why i said "just a little worried". Not sure how you took out of my post that I was being eaten alive by this.
So is KC doing at least a local over the air telecast so KC fans can watch without the peacock? I hope this thing backfires so badly on the NFL that it and other sports never consider putting games on a streaming device.
When you've got the Bucket why go anywhere else? I look at the LJW on occasion for the articles but that's it.
KStates hold looks tenuous at best. Here's a scarier scenario. Ryan Day gets canned because he can't beat Michigan. Luke Fickell, an Ohioan and former assistant at OSU for 14 seasons gets plucked out of Madison, despite his word he's a lifer in Madison, then our guy, despite his word he's here for good goes home to Wisconsin. I'm just a little worried that this will happen.
Snow day. So I should be sleeping, but when you wake up and think you're going to work, and then you're not, you kind of get woke right away!
My tendency is when things go south during a game and then after is to just stop commenting. In the old days of newspapers I wouldn't read the story of the game. I still haven't watched video of our loss to Syracuse in 03, or UW's loss to Duke in 15, the Villanova beatdown in 18, etc.
I see someone showed up, kudos to @approxinfinity again for his paroling of him, but I guess he got irksome again. I just hate the piling on of guys during a bad game. I'm sure i've been guilty of this like 1.2k times but the thought of writing a description of a kid with the F word and you realize he's 18-19 years old is just beyond sanity. I'm slightly OK with it when you're an overly compensated professional and you're just mailing it in day after day, but even then, we as fans don't know anything about what's going on with the player. Was HD's knee hurting bad enough that he didn't want to play but coach said give it a try? Or was he making an excuse? (I doubt it). Do we win with a normally healthy HD? Without having seen the game (grr....ESPN) maybe we do win. We do know we're kind of thin on the bench and even with finding a 5th starter. The alleged rape charge against the Texas kid has certainly changed us from a solid contender to a possible FF type team ceiling.
Not sure if anyone noticed, we weren't the only top 10 team to struggle this week. Odd times in NCAA basketball. In a way it was kind of funny to watch KU fans mock Houston "you're playing in a real league now". Maybe our loss was karma! I do think our loss was the worst of those top 10 losses.
Ranking our bad losses? This is right up there! TCU game "Topeka Y could've beat us" is the standard bearer I think. Somehow we lost at home to Oral Roberts a while ago.
One thing I know, Saturday a good OU team comes in to AFH and Bill Self will have this team ready to send them back down I-35 with a 2 game losing streak.
@BeddieKU23 You're right. When we got blasted by Kentucky at home 2 years ago I thought there was no way in heck that team is good enough to win a NC and ironically one of the few years I didn't pick KU on my brackets.
@Zabudda Awesome! Hope he makes it to Sundays!
The simple answer to the original question is yes, we are lucky to be 13-1!
@BeddieKU23 Silver linings!
Sometimes I wish I wasn't a sports fan. This is one of those times.
Glad I didn't pay money to watch this one.
