Of all the transfer news this is probably the most shocking. ?s=20

Hunter Dickenson is a Jayhawk • May 04, 2023 09:10 PM

Hunter is very good. Seen quite a bit of him the last two seasons. Great touch around the basket, but can pop from outside too.

Hunter Dickenson is a Jayhawk • May 04, 2023 04:44 PM

@stoptheflop I'll start. Hunter is a dick.

Em V Biid! • May 03, 2023 12:45 AM

@approxinfinity You were a little too cute there, I really didn't know what you meant. Great honor for Joel!

Twitterverse is lauding Cristian for his defense on Durant.

Jayhawks in the NBA -- 2022 • May 02, 2023 04:24 AM

Super cool to watch Braun getting significant playing time in the 2nd half of this season. His lack of playing time the first half of the season had me a little worried he might have made a mistake coming out early, but he's clearly proving he belongs and playing for a team headed for the league semis it looks like.

@mayjay Oh I didn't realize! I love youtubing Pete Maravich. With todays social media I think he'd be a mega star.

Like @BShark and his post yesterday the offseason gets pretty tedious and we have to invent new topics to discuss.

Every year I look at the scoring leaders in DI and think, wow, that kid scored 31 points a game at Canisius, or 29.8 at Wright St and wonder if they could do that in a major conference?

A look at this years top scoring players, 3 are known to the average college hoops fan, Zach Edey, Drew Timme and Trayce Jackson Davis. The rest are pretty much unknown to anyone outside of the conference he plays in.

This years leading scorer was Antoine Davis of Detroit Mercy who at least became a little bit known because he needed one more game in which he likely would have broken Pistol Pete's career scoring mark. Of course Pete did his in 3 years with a shorter schedule than Davis' four years and upwards of 34 games a year. But still he averaged almost 29 points per game!

So put Davis on our team or UCONN, or any other major player and how do they do? I assume he doesn't score that many but why? I've got some reasons, just want to hear yours. How many do they score for game with another team?

Every year one or two of these guys makes a name for themselves in the dance by shooting just as proficiently but in the dance and upsetting some teams along the way. Some become stars like Curry, while others fade to the background quickly and become todays Harold Arcenaux, one hit wonders.

2023 Recruiting • May 01, 2023 05:34 PM

Someone yesterday mentioned to me KU is interested in Dingle (?) from Penn who entered the portal. One of the highest scoring players in the country last year. Not seeing much confirming that this is true. Has anyone heard of him or this rumor?

Arterio Morris is a Jayhawk • Apr 29, 2023 03:12 PM

@Woodrow We're fans being fans! We all know we don't have the ultimate answer, but this signing deserves some scrutiny. I hope a year from now we'll be saying we were wrong about.

Arterio Morris is a Jayhawk • Apr 29, 2023 02:26 PM

@RockkChalkk said in Arterio Morris is a Jayhawk:

I like this move a lot. Just the action of picking KU/Self shows some maturity because everyone knows Bill wont mess around if he messes up again. Plus we only really know the story in the media which certainly isnt his version. Somewhat low risk, super high reward. Go hawks.

Let's say he does mess up again. News of it comes out in late February. He's helped lead this team to another league title and potential #1 seed. Now he's got to be kicked off the team. Pffft goes our chances in the dance. I don't want to risk that. I don't want to even win with a guy like this.

All of you are right, we don't know the facts, but stories like this wouldn't be told about this guy if he was an upstanding citizen.

We're already somewhat of a pariah nationally as the 5 major violations taunt is still repeated. Bring in Hunter D, another with a somewhat shady rep also and we'll still be talked about negatively.

KU Offseason Chef Bill Cooking Thread • Apr 25, 2023 06:33 PM

Funny thing is I do want the michigan kid to play for KU even if he's a big oaf. The dude can play and will help us win some games next year. I just wish I hadn't seen so much of the bad side of him. Like if he ever walked into any arena with a ski mask on two days after a lunatic gunned down Michigan State students I think you'd understand. Giving opponents bulletin board material by calling them scumbags is more evidence of his doofusry. Hold my nose and watch him play for us? I guess.

Jayhawks in the NBA -- 2022 • Apr 20, 2023 05:53 PM

I wonder if Spartan fans on their equivalent of SpartanBuckets are proud of Draymond in their Spartans in the NBA section? If he was a Jayhawk alum I'd just have to block him out of my reasons to be proud of my school.

2023 Transfer Portal • Apr 20, 2023 04:54 PM

Wondering if there is, and if there isn't, why not, a thread about Marcus Adams signing the other day? Having seen any chatter.

Jayhawks in the NBA -- 2022 • Apr 20, 2023 04:50 PM

@mayjay Yes he should have been, but he was before my KU time so I wasn't that familiar with him. I do have this story though. I was waiting around Robinson Gym to get in a pickup game and this dude asks me if I can rebound for him since he's practicing his shooting. I was kind of dumbfounded like get your own dang rebounds but I didn't have a chance to say that because he told me he was Darnell! I enjoyed the 15 minutes or so of watching a KU great.

Hard one. Happy that Jacque is having success after the firesale. Hope he has a great run in Brooklyn

I absolutely loved Jacque as our point guard. He was fantastic. Probably still my favorite pg.

Among KU pt guards quite the array of choices of favorites. JoJo White, Cedric Hunter, Jacque, Kirk, Aaron Miles, Russell Robinson, Sherron, Frank, Devonte, DDot and now DaJuan. What a list! Hard for me to pick one, but DaJuan is right up there as a championship winning guard on my list, even if he did have a massive brain fart which could have forced us to OT.

I was trying to remember if Steve Woodberry was a pt guard and trusted source Wikipedia called him a shooting guard/small forward. He is a scout in the TWolves organization which means there's another Jayhawk in the playoffs!

@nuleafjhawk said in Should KU Even Bother Fielding a Basketball team next year?:

@wissox I think you're being sarcastic, but just in case you're not - Danny & The Miracles!

Yes, forgot the sarcasm font! My senior year at KU, probably my best sports memory

TBH I rarely look at the bracketologists. 2016 we all were sure KU was going to Chicago and the Midwest. Instead we get the 1 seed and play in Louisville with the nightmare 2 seed of Villanova.

@nuleafjhawk Hmmm, what team might that have been?

@Texas-Hawk-10 I agree, I'm not sure this years version qualified as a 1 seed TBH.

@Jethro. Don't get too worked up about it. I was really just satirizing the idea that we'll be terrible next year.

Lardy or whatever the bracketologists name is at espn says BShark is right, KU is gonna be way down next year, sees a 3 seed for us. True test of the real KU fans next season! League coach of the year won't get Manhattan St back to the dance according to Joe either. Also Silo Tech is one of only 2 teams to not be dancing from the Big 12 which is really 1o but soon to be a gazillion.

2023 Transfer Portal • Apr 14, 2023 02:06 AM

Storr from St. Johns to Wisconsin. Someone said he was a KU target while in HS.

Happy Easter! • Apr 12, 2023 02:42 AM

@approxinfinity Who wants to spend time cooking when you're in Florida?!!

Happy Easter! • Apr 12, 2023 02:41 AM

@dylans We came home, but it was fun. First such trip in my life.

Happy Easter! • Apr 10, 2023 03:09 AM

LOL, had a frozen Digiorno's for Easter dinner, but it was because we're at the beach in Florida and who really wants to spend time in the kitchen when we're doing this for the first time in my life?

NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP GAME MUTTERINGS • Apr 06, 2023 01:01 AM

@mayjay Put an asterisk next to 3 of the 7 blue bloods and say gym named after KU people.

Bill Self Presser Wednesday Morning • Apr 05, 2023 08:56 PM

@Kcmatt7 I think you resent that I am a fan of two teams. It's just sports so really what does it matter?

Bill Self Presser Wednesday Morning • Apr 05, 2023 08:52 PM

@cragarhawk You're right but Dickinson has made me change my ways, at least for him!

Bill Self Presser Wednesday Morning • Apr 05, 2023 04:07 PM

@cragarhawk I hate Dickinson and would have to really force myself to be happy when he helps us win.

Bill Self Presser Wednesday Morning • Apr 05, 2023 02:11 PM

@dylans I can understand that perspective. Sounds like an interesting job.

Bill Self Presser Wednesday Morning • Apr 05, 2023 01:39 PM

@dylans This January was absolutely horrible. While there is a silver lining, I never shoveled once this winter, I much prefer snow that lets me strap on my X-Country skis after work and put in 5-6 miles on beautiful trails. This January was 35-40 every day and zero sun it seemed like for 60 days in a row. The cold isn't bad, I don't even own a winter coat. And the lake is just beautiful.

Bill Self Presser Wednesday Morning • Apr 05, 2023 01:28 PM

@dylans Lake Michigan has the best beaches.

Bill Self Presser Wednesday Morning • Apr 04, 2023 09:22 PM

I'll keep my eyes open for Bill and Cynthia when I'm in south Florida this week for a beach vacation!

NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP GAME MUTTERINGS • Apr 04, 2023 09:21 PM

14-30 Ft.s. Its a painful stat just as 14 duke fouls vs. 26 KU fouls in the 86 Final Four is painful. Losing to Duke in 91 was excusable as was the UNC loss in 93. Maryland game in 02 I don't remember being too traumatized. Kentucky in 2012 is strange as I was there yet with not much expectation of victory so it didn't sting. 2018 when you get walloped like that not much you can say but congrats Nova.

So most FF losses don't hurt too bad. But of course the pre FF losses hurt way more. 97 the worst of them of course.

Congrats to UConn. I don't have any reason to dislike them, none to really like them either. I actually didn't watch too much of the game. As a blue blood fan I'm a little jealous of a non blue blood with more championships than our blue blood. But when I go out no one is snickering as I walk by in my KU gear saying 'ha, that guys team doesn't have enough championships.

Wait til next year though when we tie UConn.

Bill Self Presser Wednesday Morning • Apr 04, 2023 02:15 AM

Twitter going nuts about this one. @FarmerJayhawk says he bought a townhouse in S. Florida. I'm a little concerned myself.

@dylans Old fogies like us do!

NCAA NON- KU GAMES • Apr 02, 2023 12:25 PM

I was really pissed Friday night. We were having storms and our CBS station was doing weather updates (I guess to save peoples lives or whatever) and at 9 oclock, we couldn't watch Blue Bloods because of it. Is this the Blue Bloods we're all talking about?

Grant McCasland gets hired by Texas Tech. Great hire for them. I caught part of the NIT championship in between my Astros opening night, and thought North Texas State looked very impressive. Very well coached team - tough defense. The old man was a huge Tech fan, and he would've liked this hire.

How'd your opening night go? :). I know you got us last night.

Gradey enters the draft • Mar 31, 2023 11:36 PM

Grow up. LOL. Pot meet kettle.

Gradey enters the draft • Mar 31, 2023 09:10 PM

I'm with Nuleaf. Unless said freshman leads us to glory, I'll just think about the lost opportunities at KU. Although I follow their pro careers with some pride, I do much more the guys who we got to know. I wish the NBA would end this charade of guys playing college for a year before going pro.

As for you Gradey, go and do well, get loaded playing for some marginal team that will draft you and play in front of 10000 fans who are half asleep. You had the currently best playing situation in the country and you're trading it in for what now amounts to extra dollars.

@BeddieKU23 Yeah, he sure wasn't his brother. Seems like a good kid. But he's a mid major player in my opinion.

Welcome Elmarko Jackson! • Mar 30, 2023 02:06 AM

Goodbye Michael Jordan Rice? Haven't seen discussion of it but we hardly knew ye. Maybe he'll find his game somewhere else.

NCAA NON- KU GAMES • Mar 29, 2023 11:17 AM

@FarmerJayhawk DON'T apologize. When you get an NIT bid, you expect games like that to happen! Not the best moment for UW though for sure.

Jayhawks in the NBA -- 2022 • Mar 29, 2023 02:20 AM

Svi getting some minutes since Oubre got hurt again. Started tonight and had 18 points, 8 assists, 5 RB's and even 3 steals and 2 blocks. Every one of those numbers are season highs.

NCAA NON- KU GAMES • Mar 28, 2023 01:04 AM

@Crimsonorblue22 Yeah, could almost touch the ceiling. Great memory!

NCAA NON- KU GAMES • Mar 27, 2023 09:05 PM

NCAA NON- KU GAMES • Mar 27, 2023 04:09 PM

@benshawks08 More titles combined with more really down seasons vs. less titles but and all but written in stone guarantee of being ranked and in the dance every season. That's the choice between us and them. We are SO USED TO WINNING that when the inevitable day comes that we can't even be considered on the bubble I'm afraid we're really going to melt down if this whole social media thing is still happening. But if that day comes a year removed from a NC, maybe it's easier to swallow?

As goofy as it sounds, I would rather be KU than UConn. Reasons? 1. Tradition 2. BlueBlood status 3. AFH
4. KU's contribution to sports in general. 5. KUBuckets is better than HuskeyBuckets 6. UConn sounds like you con.
7. Our campus is better 8. Our girls are better 9. Google Earth was invented in Lawrence 10. We never had Jim Calhoun.

NCAA NON- KU GAMES • Mar 27, 2023 04:00 PM

@bskeet What happened to SDSU in 2020?

NCAA NON- KU GAMES • Mar 27, 2023 01:00 PM

I probably won't watch much. Like others, not seeing UConn win another would be nice.

Uconn probably feels neglected by media as well. They will probably win their 5th NC this next weekend, all since 1999. But you don't hear the name UConn too often.

If I had to pick a team I'd pick Miami as I have really grown to appreciate Jim Larranaga as a coach. He made his mark with George Mason, ironically by beating UConn in 2004.

Speaking of Miami, 2 teams, 50 miles apart in a non-basketball hotbed is pretty remarkable for that city.

Speaking of Miami, I'll be there for a beach vacation a few days after the FF!
