KU vs Germany National Team - Chat Here • Jul 13, 2015 12:53 PM

What I can't figure out is why they start a game at 7 in the morning in Korea.

KU vs Germany National Team - Chat Here • Jul 13, 2015 12:49 PM

I am immediately apologizing for that joke.

KU vs Germany National Team - Chat Here • Jul 13, 2015 12:49 PM

Is it true the German players tie their shoes with knotsies?

KU vs Germany National Team - Chat Here • Jul 13, 2015 12:45 PM

@VailHawk Nope, I finally have a chance to watch and I'm watching!

KU vs Germany National Team - Chat Here • Jul 13, 2015 12:44 PM

I turned it on at 14-2 and we've been playing ugly ever since.

KU vs Germany National Team - Chat Here • Jul 13, 2015 12:39 PM

summer selden

KU vs Germany National Team - Chat Here • Jul 13, 2015 12:35 PM

Did they say shot clock resets to 14 after an offensive board? Someone get over there to AFH and check Naismiths rules!

KU vs Germany National Team - Chat Here • Jul 13, 2015 12:30 PM

@VailHawk Unfortunately that's all I've seen of Selden!

KU vs Germany National Team - Chat Here • Jul 13, 2015 12:26 PM

Forgive my ignorance, but who is playing for us that is from another school?

KU vs Germany National Team - Chat Here • Jul 13, 2015 12:24 PM

They actually call travels in these games? I thought international ball was different!

KU vs Germany National Team - Chat Here • Jul 13, 2015 12:17 PM

I am finally watching a game, just turned it on, and Selden is just looking like the Selden of the last two years. I think ya'll were lying about how he has been playing!

THE GERMANATORS • Jul 12, 2015 10:28 PM

@wrwlumpy I'm a German American too!

KU vs. Russia • Jul 12, 2015 04:40 PM

@HighEliteMajor

That's the one thing I've missed watching these games, sounds like he's put on a show.

KU vs. Russia • Jul 12, 2015 04:35 PM

How many of you fanatics were up at 4:30 watching this morning? I would've been if my parents had paid more for their dish and had ESPNU on their package!

KU vs. Russia • Jul 12, 2015 02:18 AM

@globaljaybird Takes a cheesehead to spread it on cheesy!

@jaybate-1.0

Any chance Bo Ryan called it quits after next year because of the shot clock change? I'm not saying he just automatically lets no one shoot until 34.5 seconds are gone, but part of his offensive efficiency is to wear down the defense for the whole shot clock and wait for a mistake and pounce on it. He gets neutered a bit from the shorter clock I think.

KU vs. Russia • Jul 11, 2015 04:13 PM

@EdwordL I know we could look it up, but if memory serves correct the US had it won twice and the officials kept making them replay the last several seconds until they got the desired result. The US team refused to accept their silver medals as I recall.

KU vs. Russia • Jul 11, 2015 04:10 PM

@VailHawk It was slightly before my time. I think I was aware of Olga Korbut at those games, but not much else. Of course the awful terrorism is the worst part of that games.

KU vs. Russia • Jul 11, 2015 02:21 PM

Wow, beating all of these little countries (besides Brazil) is one thing, but now we have to defeat the worlds largest country!

It's so big it reaches almost into western Europe and is only 2 miles from the United States on the other side!

It has 11 time zones which means it stretches nearly halfway around the world at that northerly latitude.

I can't think of a nice thing about Russia. Just a long history of dominating and dictators and despots.

It does have the worlds deepest lake so that's cool.

And now we get to play them. Forget that this is the US v. Russia. This is Kansas v. Russia. Us against the evil empire. The paragon of virtuous college sports against the epitome of evil who are still trying to dominate countries.

I don't know anything about Russian basketball. Hopefully the referees don't pull a 1972 olympic gold medal game and steal a game from us.

@jaybate-1.0

Interesting take on the shot clock. I'm not in favor of a shorter shot clock but you made a good case for it.

KU vs Lithuania National Team - Chat Here • Jul 11, 2015 03:24 AM

@globaljaybird

Oh I am at my folks house at Stormy Lake, Wisconsin. They have wireless, but the cheap DirectTV package that doesn't have ESPNU

KU vs Lithuania National Team - Chat Here • Jul 11, 2015 03:23 AM

@Bwag Thanks Sir. Sounds like we're playing well.

KU vs Lithuania National Team - Chat Here • Jul 11, 2015 03:22 AM

Score fellas?

@Brooksmd, @nuleafjhawk, @Crimsonorblue22, @RockChalkinTexas Thanks for filling me in on the technology or lack thereof in your home, but I really wanted to know what you thought of our team!!!

KU vs Lithuania National Team - Chat Here • Jul 11, 2015 03:14 AM

Anyone know a link that works?

My summers are spent in a home where there is no tv except digital rabbit ears and no internet. I have no smart phone. I get internet at the library for a few minutes a day. I really don't even want to spend time reading all of the game threads and peoples comments. But for this weekend I am in a home with working internet.

So, here's what I'm looking for:

Your views on how our team is looking. How does the competition look? How are the rookies playing? What underclassman is ready to step up? Any hope for players like Landon, Hunter to be a major contributor next season?

Thanks for your input. I really wish I could watch the games like normal, but summer is not the time for it!

BRAGG HAS A BROKEN NOSE! • Jul 02, 2015 12:59 AM

I broke my nose when a baby sitter dropped me on my face, but that's another story.

The games haven't even started and we're getting hurt. I was mocked, ridiculed, reviled, and chastised for worrying about such things in this WUG's and behold and lo, I guess I'm right, kind of.

7 games in 10 days fellas and gals, I still don't like it.

Some WUG' pregame thought. • Jun 30, 2015 07:32 PM

@Crimsonorblue22

I'm still concerned. I'm guessing action will be more intense than summer pick up games. Our guys I assume are going to go all out to win this thing too, so they'll be playing hard which leads to more risk for injury.

Some WUG' pregame thought. • Jun 30, 2015 06:49 PM

@dylans I was going to post the same on a new thread, but we'll handle it here.

I've never been wild about sending our team to play in this tournament. This is a lot of games in a short period of time. Maybe I'm an old worry wart, but potentially 7 games in 10 days sounds pretty daunting. We are opening up our guys to the risk of injury with such a heavy slate of games.

We, like Big12 games, are going to be who everyone is gunning for. They'll be extra pumped, extra aggressive, therefore, extra dangerous.

I really don't care if we win this tournament. Sure, it'd be a nice bit of pride, but I, like most of us, place much more value on a long regular season that starts 3 months (practice anyways) after this somewhat meaningless tournament.

Am I the only one with these thoughts here? Wouldn't be the first time :)

Say it aint so, Bo :( • Jun 30, 2015 02:23 AM

After posting the article I read another one that said he never had a top 25 recruiting class at Wisconsin, but almost always had top 25 teams.

Say it aint so, Bo :( • Jun 29, 2015 09:40 PM

He's the man who made me care about UW basketball almost as much as KU, and that means a lot! I knew this day would come sometime soon. At least he'll be around one more year for hopefully another deep run into the tourney.

I'm a modern technology illiterate, so I have no clue what you're talking about!, but... how many people were at that game? Looks like a lot! KU fans are over the top crazy!

The worst trade ever? • Jun 26, 2015 06:50 PM

@KUSTEVE Those people are a bunch of loosers.

The worst trade ever? • Jun 25, 2015 09:09 PM

Draft day trade, if my memory and spelling, serves correctly, Scottie Pippen for Olden Polynice. Might have been the worst ever.

Royals vs Mariners - Gm 2 • Jun 24, 2015 09:12 PM

@brooksmd

No at our vacation home, we just have rabbit ears and no internet. We go to the library or McD's for internet. Don't miss being unplugged for a while to be honest even if it means missing KU games!

Royals vs Mariners - Gm 2 • Jun 24, 2015 03:05 AM

Can't chat, but hey there. Have you seen what Chris Sale has done in his last 8 games? Double digit strikeouts, at least 12 in each of his last 5. Their crappy offense has kept him from winning only 4 of those games. Glad the Royals are hanging tough.

Happiness is a Warm Gun (Yes it is) • Jun 22, 2015 03:27 AM

As someone who works in the midst of a dangerous neighborhood (9 homicides in last three years) I say there's too many of the things, while I do recognize my many friends who use them responsibly and wouldn't want them to lose their guns for their hunting.

Happy Fathers Day! • Jun 22, 2015 03:22 AM

It's great to be a Jayhawk and even greater to be a Dad.

Dream Class 2016 • Jun 18, 2015 03:16 PM

@MoonwalkMafia

I think that's why they have an other topics section to post things like Royals on. No harm no foul the way I look at it.

@VoyagingJayhawk Thanks, but to be honest, I'm a total bandwagon hockey fan, so it was a relatively minor thrill!

I'm really hoping the Sox fire Ventura. This team has too much talent to be wallowing like they are!

How's all my all star ballot box stuffing Rock Chalk Blackhawk baseball friends doing?

JoJo White in the H O F. • Jun 15, 2015 01:07 AM

Cal spent time as a jayhawk, one season I think, so no heckling! Heckle the fools who picked him over Bo Ryan!

NBA v. NHL & CBB • Jun 15, 2015 01:05 AM

NBA players are amazing, yet, the game just isn't that compelling, To prove it I'll get home tonight in time for the last 5 minutes of the game. My wife says I should do the same thing for college games and I just give her this look, like, huh?

Grade The New Kansas Recruiting Class • Jun 10, 2015 09:55 PM

I'll let you know in April :)

Alrighty now, Rangers vs Royals game 1... • Jun 10, 2015 09:48 PM

@brooksmd We then spend our summers up in Wisconsin away from instant internet, so we go to McD's or the library for internet, so I'm not around kubuckets that much, but, I'll be back!

Alrighty now, Rangers vs Royals game 1... • Jun 08, 2015 03:27 AM

@brooksmd I just got home from a spectacular western trip and totally unplugged. I saw your comment. Yes, that would drive me nuts!

Kansas V. Davidson and Curry • May 29, 2015 10:20 PM

This link is pretty interesting. The best part is the highlight video of Kansas playing Villanova in that years tourney and Darrell Arthur with some phenomenal dunks. That KU team could throw them down, not quite as good as the Gooden, Collison, Heinrich, Langford years.

http://www.rockchalktalk.com/2015/5/29/8679123/stephen-curry-vs-the-jayhawks-the-time-the-warrior-went-the-distance ↗

Of course our 2008 dream season almost didn't happen because of Curry.

A one liner Topic • May 29, 2015 05:31 PM

I remember listening to some talking head around the time immediately after we won it in 1988 say that KU was the first team since.....(I forget, maybe ever) to win the NCAA while playing in their home state.

Of course I always turned that argument around on people saying KU won because it was like a home game, and I said they didn't even play in their home state, in fact it was in the state of their archival. How is that a home court advantage?

Bulls searching for new coach • May 29, 2015 05:24 PM

I'm in Chicago right now and listening to sports talk.

Several observations. Fred is definitely a maybe!!

Why would anyone want the Bulls job. It sounded like a pretty petty situation that got Thibs fired.

Thibs is a heck of a coach. 255-136 I think is what I read, and of course a lot of those wins were without DRose.

Right now, whoever coaches the Bulls will be like whoever coached the Knicks in the 90's. They were never going to be good enough to beat MJ, and now the Bulls are not going to be good enough to beat Lebron.
