The defensive effectiveness of Udeh blitzing screens is a bit concerning with Houston being our next game. I trust Bill to figure something out though.

@BShark you’re the inside guy. What’s going on?
It's odd!

Wonder what is going on there

@BShark It's brilliant insights like that make you so appreciated on this board!

Second made three of the year for an opposing player is very typical too
ROUGH start.
@Texas-Hawk-10 KU chose not to really pursue Knecht, correct.
@Jhawk69 said in Mythbusters: Bill Self, minutes, and March:
@BShark If true (which I am skeptical of) it was a mistake too but hindsight is 20/20. Nobody expected Knecht to be so good and Timberlake to be so bad.
Yes, recruiting misses happen all the time. It's not supposed to be an indictment. UNC and UConn were recruiting Timberlake as well. Also there is the fact that they had Timberlake basically wrapped up while Knecht's recruitment was in the earlier stages. My information here is hindsight from the same NBA guy but Knecht said he wanted to go to Kansas. He didn't get much NIL from Tennessee, apparently.
@Jhawk69 said in Mythbusters: Bill Self, minutes, and March:
@BShark Thanks for the scoop. If it is true that Bill stopped recruiting Nelson and opted to bring back Zach Clemmence instead, that is indeed a mistake.
But it still doesn't prove a long-standing pattern of Bill being stubborn about whom he plays.
I do not know the reasoning/details from KU's end tbh
We could have had Knecht over Timberlake as well which I think I have mentioned before.
@Jhawk69 we stopped recruiting both. Ingram's visit was delayed and eventually cancelled iirc
As far as Grant Nelson I have a friend in an NBA front office (I know this sounds lame lol) and he said that Grant said in their pre draft interview that he would have came to Kansas if we would have taken him.
@Jhawk69 said in Mythbusters: Bill Self, minutes, and March:
@kuballin10 DaJuan started those early games because of Jalen's DUI suspension. Then Jalen replaced Remy because Remy was playing through an injury/missing time. When Remy got back to full health Bill didn't want to tinker with our starting lineup anymore, but still gave Remy lots of pt.
With DaJuan on the roster we landed Remy (the top transfer portal pg of his season) and Elmarko Jackson (5* pg recruit). He didn't hurt recruiting.
With KJ on the roster we landed Udeh, Ejiofor, AJ, Rylan, and Hunter. He didn't hurt recruiting either.
Hurt recruiting might be the wrong terminology but he certainly impacted recruiting as Self wasn't recruiting over him.
See: Harrison Ingram and Grant Nelson, among a few others.
@Texas-Hawk-10 I'm just saying he's a volume shooter and we already have two players that demand a high volume of shots. Basically there are only so many shots to go around so who would we want Storr taking them from. He is one of the least efficient options on the team.
Of course the biggest problem with Storr is his defense and he was a big part of a bad kstate offense scoring a lot of points.
I'm not sure how you can watch the team with Dajuan off the court and think he is the problem.
I feel like the biggest issue for this team is a lot of the pieces don't fit well together. Too many non-shooters but also Storr doesn't make much sense on a roster with Zeke and Hunter.
@Crimsonorblue22 said in My crisis of faith in Bill:
I don't think to many really thought he was worth saving, 😥
Bill made his choice. I wish we still had Zuby but it is what it is. Hard to blame either guardian for looking elsewhere once Bill immediately recruited over them with Hunter.

@tundrahok i dont think that rebounding rate is sustainable because he still isnt boxing out and collecting defensive rebounds. Ulti
Part of it was definitely increased effort after the WVU game but another part of it was match-up based. Especially the UCF game. He likely would have be 3-ish rebounds if he played against KSU imo.

What happened to Mayberry?
Nobody seems to know, or will say.
@BeddieKU23 said in KState game thread:
That's disappointing
His energy the previous few games was a lot better so I do wonder why
On rewatch, I understand why Rylan didn't get a ton of run. He was very slow getting back in transition after rebounds etc...
Chenal was born in the wrong era. 20 years ago and he's close to a hall of famer. Still a very good player of course, just the game has changed.

True. I guess by "modern world" i mean it's much easier via social media for these thoughts to spread and become truth.
For sure, the internet had exacerbated a lot of issues

What about? Refs?
I didn't think Ryans was that bad, the stuff from the players is pretty lame though. There's more of it out there, first few things that I found.

Wednesday is a must win. This is the worst TCU team Dixon has had in his tenure perhaps.
Should be a better match-up for KJ-less KU as well. Kstate is BAD, but posed a real match-up problem with Hawkins.
@FarmerJayhawk All correct points and none of it will be read or matter to who needs to comprehend it.

Once again I wish we could run the ball
playcalling stunk lol
Absolutely incredible td throw for sure.
The Chiefs are kind of getting handled but are up by 7. Story of the season!

We can’t play two negative guys at the same time. Gotta sub one guy at a time. What r your thoughts about rylan?
Had some good moments today. Drive and kick out but the guy he passed to missed wide open looks. Was surprised he played less than Storr.
@FarmerJayhawk said in KState game thread:
I’m a little disappointed in the effort. I didn’t have as much of a problem with playing time (except that stretch with Kease and Diggy) but there were way too many lapses. Giving up 45 in the second to an absolute garbage team is straight bad. Gotta clean that up before Wednesday.
Notably we did not see Diggy in the 2nd half.
@Crimsonorblue22 said in KState game thread:
@BShark ok, Ned! 🤨
We have no answer for Coleman when Flory is on the bench. Was a big issue all game. Made KSU's offense look good.
@approxinfinity said in KState game thread:
I decided to hop on with 4 min to go. Score would indicate its been a slog…
We were playing well then let them back in it.
This game was 68-54. Yikes.
This team is charmin soft.
Danger zone here
Storr comes in and IMMEDIATELY gives up a basket.
@KirkIsMyHinrich said in KState game thread:
How did we beat UCF by 80 on the road again?
Dawkins is their coach
Both were -5 in the first half. Storr in 5 minutes and Diggy managed it in 3 minutes...
If Bill Self is serious we won't see Storr and Diggy until the under 8 of the 2nd half.
Get Diggy off my screen now.
@BeddieKU23 said in KState game thread:
Think it's matchup based. Hopefully can set the tone for rebounding and defense and rotate him when needed. Can't get in foul trouble though, will force our hand even more
I think at most we can play 10 minutes of two bigs.

Flory starting, odd choice.
Self just can’t help himself. Shooter to open the floor? Nah.
Ok, inside game it is. I haven’t followed the opposition yet, so hope that’s the right game plan.
1 shooter in the starting line-up. Insane.
Flory starting, odd choice.
Closing in on tip off. Crowd stinks a bit.
