Slid in here just in time. Would make a great Hawk but gotta think Florida leads.
Just doke back and I think it is fine. There will be growing pains though with only one returning guard.
It's never too early. ;)
lol
De-admin approx for this thread. :joy:
Are we only talking guards? Cause that embiid fella was pretttttay good.
Most players got paid, it is not just elite 5* oads.
Doubt it, need to increase the bids!!!

This is an evergreen thread. #extendthestreak

Type into Google "Is Kansas basketball dirty". There's a lot of people out there that believe we are to some degree.
Exactly. Now obviously there is a bit of jealousy and you can't believe everything but like I said before, KU basketball players aren't hurting for anything while they are at KU.
I want to believe.

@JayHawkFanToo has Bill Self mentioned how he think De Sousa will do next year? To me that's the most telling sign. At least in the selected quotes in this story, no mention of DeSousa where you would assume he would be mentioned
Yep. I made a thread about this. Had a similar thought about De Sousa. Self also didn't mention Mitch or Cunliffe so we can assume they are probably Deep Bench/cryo-iced.
Cryo-ice patent pending c/o @jaybate-1-0

Some stuff about gambling in there too. Fun stuff near the bottom.
Yes, paying players. KU basketball players certainly aren't hurting for cash, for whatever reason, at least they weren't when I was there. It's been awhile but Self was the coach.

...and that is why hearsay is not admissible in any court because it is unproven, highly prejudicial and most likely untrue. If there was any evidence and I mean ANY evidence, someone in the MSM would have been all over it.
Think about it. The comments in this thread appear on Google, someone will google it, see your comment and post as fact that Coach Self is corrupt based on your comment as a KU fan in a KU basketball forum. Threads like this is what fuels all the hearsay and innuendo that we see.
Everything the other way is speculation too was my only point. Only Self and very few people ultimately know.

FWIW, nobody knows anything on Silvio so they’re preparing like he’ll be good to go. I tend to think he will be.
I hope so, I just don't see it.
He is good at identifying talent and players that fit his system. Kids willing to red shirt and develop etc...
@JayHawkFanToo I mean what's reliable? I've been to AAU events a fair bit in the past. I've read plenty too but it's board rat talk, not articles. I just don't know what you are expecting here. This is all just hearsay.

I don't see any way McCormack starts. I also don't expect Silvio to play at all, unfortunately.
Do you think Silvio will be found ineligible, or he just won't win PT because other guys are ahead of him?
The first part.

When you consider the players Kentucky and Duke have gotten recently it would be considerably less of a stretch to think that they are dirty or at least dirtier than Coach Self, wouldn’t you agree? Do you have any factual information from ANY source, Internet or otherwise, that even alleges wrong doing by Coach Self? The only negative I have about Coach Self is his handling of the Giddens deal, if what was reported on Beyond the Phog is to be believed.
To infer from an indictment in which Coach Self is not even named and KU is listed as a victim that Coach Self is dirty is one hell of a stretch any way you look, regardless of what school the accuser comes from.
The problem is you can't have anything be 100% verifiable fact in a court of law with any information currently available. Probably hearsay at best.
That said I've laid out some things in the past. Is it really worth rehashing? It doesn't change anything. There is a reason Self has a reputation as dirty in coaching and recruiting circles.
The answer is still no. Too many shady recruits that KU won, or was involved in to believe Self is fully clean. Rumors have long been that Self is one of the dirtiest in the game along with Pitino, Cal etc... So he certainly isn't the cleanest, by any stretch of the imagination.

Coherent.
Now this is funny.
@jaybate-1.0 Cal has, in the past, consistently got more NBA talent than Jay Wright. Only looking at wins and losses is short sighted.
@jaybate-1.0 Wright is a better in game coach than Calipari. You frequently overrate Self.
Jay Wright is a good coach and talent evaluator. No sense in over complicating it.

@BShark I meant the tv contract
Same contract but they allowed stations like 38 in KC to pick up the games. And that is an over the air station. I don't know what other stations were able to pick them up. Anyone in Topeka can get in 38 with a good antenna.
@Crimsonorblue22 Well if he is serious I simply have no comment.

I'm hearing John Currie is an old friend of our new Chancellor. Sounds like Currie might be the guy.
If this is trolling it's pretty brilliant.
wissox said:
Might this mean you all will be able to watch the first 5 or 6 games of the year on TV like all of us OUTSIDE of the state of Kansas can do? I hope for ya'lls sake that's one of the benefits of this.
They fixed that last year.

I’m sure the pr about the cheerleading hazing wasn’t a great look for the ad either. The 2 girls were interviewed on a wichita station.
This might have been the last straw but don't tell some people working on other narratives. ;)
Agree with beddie this iis a huge hire.
Very difficult and layered question. Ultimately I would say somewhat.

Somehow JB will get him down to 5'6'', to prop up Self's coaching abilities. ;)
Nice fan fiction.
Commented more on this in the 2019 rec thread.
Depends on what KU needs but assuming that there is an open scholarship, Doke is gone if he comes back, Dedric is gone, Silvio never plays for KU again, Grimes is OAD and all other players stay...
In this case, KU is looking at a 5 player class, and needs at least 2 bigs.
Sign me up for: Hurt, JRE, Lecque, Williamson, Jacobs.
This would be my preferred and realistic class. It's got depth, some elite talent as well as guys that should be around for multiple years.
I am assuming Hampton has been secured by Duke and even if Cole Anthony wants to go elsewhere, it will be a Nike school.
Other players that would be good that I think KU could realistically land, depending on circumstance: Tre Mann, Josh Green, Malik Hall, Chandler Lawson, Zach Harvey, Kira Lewis.
Feels like a somewhat wide open class and I will be intrigued to see who the top guard and wing targets are (we know Hurt and JRE are the top post targets).

Here is some information ↗ on KU targets...
It's time to step on the gas with Sam Williamson, imo. Very skilled player.
Reid is def an above average coach. Just from an outside perspective Garrett appears to be a moron.
Sucks for Doke but great for KU!!! Hope he is back.
KU offered an unranked 2019 player
Saddiq Bey decommitted from NC State. Worth a look at this point, imo.
FarmerJayhawk said:
KU has a good shot with Lecque, but probably not in 2018 barring us having to go small because of departures.
Seems like if he does go in 18 it would be Brandon Rush kind of late.
