I'm okay with how things played out. I voiced my opinion on Vanderbilt several times during the recruiting process with him. Bad attitude on the court, didn't play hard. KU has signed the opposite of that outside of Preston since the 17 class.
Agree it worked out for KU. Vanderbilt feels like the kind of player Self used to favor in recruiting. Ie just get freak athletes and try to teach them how to shoot/play basketball.
It's very hard to try and find as many oad players as Cal likes to sign per class that will buy in 100%. He signed himself up for that. Allegedly he "passes" on guys that he thinks won't buy in. In this class alone I saw that mentioned with Romeo, Simi, Moses Brown and Bol Bol. I think it's mostly crap.

Cal will convince some number of post players to return. At this point EJ Montgomery is the only possible addition that would be "Kentucky level". He has 6 bigs on the roster right now if you count Gabriel. So my guess is he has at least 3-4 5* post players in the 2nd/3rd year next year. Poor Cal...

Just imagine how much more intense their hate will be for us moving forward.... we are still climbing in recruiting stature, while they have declined.
Their future isn't too bright put up against ours. Even in the Hilton.
Their recruiting is actually doing quite well right now. Look for them to be solid, middle of the conference next year and the two years after that likely our main competition.

@BeddieKU23 The good news for KU is that he shouldn't be needed for big minutes next year. I hope he is okay with that though as like you I think he will be a very nice player for KU in time.
Some stuff floating out there about how Bagley's dad, who runs an EYBL team filed for bankruptcy. Then, ends up in a very nice house while no evidence of him having a high paying job could be found. Super weird. Nothing to see here right? @BeddieKU23
@BeddieKU23 Many OU fans thinking Doolittle is the one for sure also leaving but haven't seen it from insiders yet.
JUCO Austin Trice would be a fairly natural replacement for Doolittle and they have targeted him.

@BeddieKU23 Fair points. Houston is losing 2 of their top 3 players though, do they have some talent coming in? Or just expected growth of other players? I totally whiffed on Cincinatti. They are a program type school now. Bring in guys that fit the system. Play tough defense. They will definitely have something to say about that conference race.

McDuffie is a VERY good player. Injuries curtailed his development this year. He was on track to be drafted after his SO year imo.
@JayHawkFanToo He is crusty at this point and has tired of recruiting. High Point is a nice place for him to finish his career. The Big South is a 16 seed type conference.
We will see with WSU. People thought they were going to flame out when Baker and FVV left. Didn't happen. They should be a bit down next year but they've always played a ton of guys, and their best players never even put up insane numbers.
