In Self's perfect world Garrett plays 40 minutes.
He's gonna play 30 no matter who's on the roster
And that would be a mistake unless he fixes his jump shot this summer.
I agree. I don't think its fixable either so where does that leave us? Fatally flawed already?
@BShark Did you hack Beddie's account or something?
I'm just on this kick of wanting to see shooters on the floor as much as possible. We have none currently. What do we do with guys such as Marcus
We will miss Achiuwa's talent but we won't miss his baggage. To think after all that's happened in the past two years that we are still going after guys like this just floors me.
I know if your not in the game your not competing but you'd think we'd be a bit careful. I see nothing's changed!
TCU has taken 2 sit-out transfers already. Keonte Kennedy of Xavier and Kevin Easley Jr of Chattanooga. Interesting choices

So then why couldn't he just declare his intentions by the date he was supposed to. SMH

Jeez it never fails.
Even if his name isn't on the list I wouldn't jump for joy. He can still use KU and its facilities to get back to health by summer, field offers to play overseas and leave Self and Co high and dry. I'm not saying that's what he'd do but you can't assume anything about how kids do things these days. I hope their is closure soon so that Self isn't held hostage on another roster spot he could be selling to someone.

Tucker seems like an incredibly important target here — as important as anyone right now. Perfect fit, major need.
Yeah he is more important then any recruit on the board. Not that we have a pick of the litter there but its definitely an important potential visit and signing

Tucker is planning on visiting KU. Timing TBD.
Oh boy that's huge
The percentages don't really tell the story. Confidence is key. Nobody on last years team was a confident shooter other then Grimes and Lawson. Both guys are gone. Hopefully the guys can develop confidence in their shooting abilities.

@BeddieKU23 he's positively coming back if cleared. Can you blame him for leaving if not?
I don't blame him at all if he leaves. He has the choice. Hes halfway there now.
I'll root for him if he comes back. He quickly became one of my favorite players in his short time. Loved his positive attitude on the team this year despite the situation.
The problem is if he is cleared and the program is punished for his indirect or direct involvement (which I dont believe happened) its going to be a real sticky situation here. I guess we should get the popcorn ready
Nope. I feel for the kid. But I dont feel for the situation its created. And if leaving school is what he thinks is best then so be it. I'll root for the kids that actually come back

What if his wrist heals and he all of a sudden makes 75% from the line.
Well, the last part isn't happening.
I know but staying healthy seems just as likely an uphill battle
Silvio asking for feedback should be quick.
Report should start and end with, you didn't play. Come back when you actually played

UVA also has the 57th recruit (out of NC), and the 59th guy, from Washington D.C. So two very solid guys from their backyard and a project. I expect Bennett to start recruiting better.
You already see Jay Wright having to take "Presumed OADs" now because of holes created by guys leaving he didn't expect. It's the nature of the beast. Success breeds success, but also higher expectations. Both for yourself and from fans...
Yeah I don't see Wright taking Quinerly without all the departures. He was not the type of character player he usually takes and as we saw his antics didn't last long.
Wright and his staff spend a lot of time identifying talent and getting guys that fit their culture. They win a few championships and all of sudden the type of players they are recruiting changes because of departures and visibility. They developed success and it came back to haunt them after the last championship. Hard to plan for even with planning
Since the title win UVA picked up a recruit that was ranked #400 when Penn State first had him. He got out and opened his recruitment up and now is the #200 ranked player committed to UVA.
The convenience just keeps on truckin'
Sean Miller will not take the stand at trial due to relevancy

For those that want more information about the Appeal, why it took 75 days to file Matt Tait published an excellent article about it. Does give some detail although not all confirmed.
In a 20-page document titled “NCAA DIVISIONS I, II AND III COMMITTEES ON STUDENT-ATHLETE REINSTATEMENT POLICIES AND PROCEDURES” which was updated last December, the NCAA lists two different types of appeals processed by the Student-Athlete Reinstatement committee.
The first is dubbed “Reinstatement of eligibility appeals – violations.” And the second is titled, “Waivers and extension request appeals.”
Efforts to gain clarity through both KU and the NCAA have been unsuccessful thus far, but it seems to me that De Sousa’s appeal would fall under the first classification.
If that’s the case — again, if — the timeline for reviewing the appeal would fall under the following parameters.
“Review of a violation appeal by the appropriate divisional committee via paper review will generally take seven business days.”
For what it’s worth, if De Sousa’s appeal for some reason falls under the other category — though I can’t see how it would qualify as a waiver or extension request at this point — the review is said to “generally take three weeks.”
A couple more interesting tidbits I discovered while reading the document include the following:
• The SAR committees, which are made up of members within the NCAA, “have one or two scheduled appeal times each week.”
Furthermore, “appeals will be scheduled during these times unless pending competition or a student-athlete’s class schedule warrants review during another time. Appeals will be scheduled based on date of receipt of appeal and pending competition.”
It has to be considered good news for people in the De Sousa camp that these reviews are a regular thing within the NCAA’s daily and weekly business. No waiting until the end of the month or the end of the quarter to hear the case.
In fact, according to the latest data available on the NCAA’s web site, 830 reinstatement requests were processed by the SAR during the 2015-16 academic year. What’s more, the NCAA points out that an astonishing 99 percent of those resulted in the student-athlete being reinstated, though some, as pointed out with the data, required a condition.
• As for why KU waited 75 days after learning of De Sousa’s suspension to file the appeal, this section may provide a little clarity on that matter, though nothing specific is known and, as of the time of posting this, KU had declined to comment.
“For all appeals handled by the committees, all factual and interpretive disputes must be resolved prior to the divisional committee reviewing the matter. Prior to consideration of the matter, the reinstatement staff will make available to the members of the divisional committee the institution's request and the information on which the reinstatement staff based its decision. The institution will receive a copy of the same information. The reinstatement staff shall include applicable case precedent in the appeal materials.”
So it’s possible that KU, while working with De Sousa and his lawyer, have been seeking to resolve “factual and interpretive disputes” for the past couple of months so the appeal could be filed.
If so, the above section indicates that the SAR committee may have heard/seen/read at least some of the details of De Sousa’s situation, at least in some manner, which, one would think, might make it easier and quicker for them to review the appeal now that it is officially in their hands.
• Finally, without knowing exactly whether the appeal will be reviewed in person, via teleconference or on paper, it’s hard to know what the proper procedure will be from here.
But the following section outlines what will happen in the case of a review that is heard by the SAR via teleconference.
“For all appeals conducted by teleconference, at least one of the following institutional representatives must participate: chancellor or president (or individual designated by the chancellor or president); faculty athletics representative; senior woman administrator; director of athletics; or compliance officer. In addition, the institution's legal counsel and the prospective student-athlete's or student-athlete's legal counsel may participate.”
“Coaches and sport-specific noncoaching personnel (e.g., director of basketball operations) are prohibited from participation on a teleconference appeal unless the individual also serves in a previously mentioned capacity at the institution.”

Oh my bad - - hadn't seen that - -slipped by me - -well- - - - - - -. ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY
No worries. If I remember correctly he once said KU was his dream school? Is that the belief you had on him???
Seems like his dream school talk died awful quick.
Wade's reinstatement might be short lived.. LSU stole Texas A&M's Athletic Director.
Wow, no wonder Beard was still cruitin 2019 class and transfers.
Found it odd he didn't play this year even knowing he was injured. Wonder where he lands, I'd assume in the SEC

Those "work them out situations" we talk about, like we sort of hope is happening with Doke, Devonte before him etc.. they seem to happen at UNC a lot.

and gave its word as noted above, we'd rock in the 20ish - 80ish range.
There is no guarantee. KU typically casts a very wide net in recruiting to try and find interested players. Maybe if KU targeted midrange players hard and lowered the amount of offers but that would make missing even more brutal so idk.
Our thought as KU fans is typically that yeah these players would be lining up but it's really not the case. Recruiting is about relationships and it might be time for an assistant change or two.
I must say I'm intrigued about the possibility of changing up the assistant coaching ranks. Has the message gotten stale from our older assistants Norm and KT? Do we need younger blood in here with some different connections and familiar recruiting territories? We all know Self is a loyal man, basically all of his assistants have left for bigger coaching jobs so he really hasn't "fired'' someone but maybe its time. I wonder if Self thinks any of he recent years recruiting misses are coaching related... It can't hurt to find out

Money was exchanged.
Can't prove he didn't know.
It is over.
And will that logic be used to nail the program as well
At least KU has tried.
I highly doubt the NCAA will reduce his suspension. The NCAA is already investigating the program.
Unless the NCAA finds nothing to charge KU with why would they reduce the suspension of the player they can use to nail the school
Was submitted today.
I figure the NCAA will get around to it in 2025
Ugh Rivals guys all pick Chris Harris Jr to Oklahoma St.. Exactly the type of kid that goes for 30 and makes 7 3's every time he plays KU. Flabbergasted why we didn't show interest
Jemarl Baker Jr is transferring from Kentucky. Sat his freshman year with knee Injury. Didn't see a ton of action as a freshman but he did play well in the NCAA tournament. Kid can shoot it. Would be an intriguing sit-out candidate
LOL Stanley doing Stanley things. He actually has become a much better player over his senior season which has obviously made Duke's pile of cash and NBA aspirations after one year attractive. Maybe the Stanley and Hurt helicopter daddies can share Zion's pad and keep the lights on until the 2020 class takes it over
I wish there was a portal to pick those 12 from. Can we get 30 second teaser video's of each guys character, competitiveness and shooting ability???
Sadly I agree to some extent. Its just part of all the things other teams can use against KU at this time. Plus money, money is huge

Wouldn't help next year (has to sit) but would be a great addition.
58% from 2, 38% from 3.
He is a good sized wing. Can shoot. Just saying he can shoot is an upgrade. I'd love for him to be one of the transfers we land. Who knows though.

This one will end up at a Power 5 school I believe. Baylor put in some work early with him but I see his versatility being coveted by others. He played well on TV a few weeks ago against Oak Hill. Much better then Enaruna showed
Great point about Watford. The masses seem to be split on which cash pile he's going to take. Watford impressed me during the Mcdonald's game

@BShark Fair points. And I see he is playing for an Under Armour team now anyways. So maybe I retract everything I said lol.
His dad has always been his AAU coach and they have been UA, Nike and Adidas.
If this will be literally just RJ's decision I do think the pick will be KU. His dad is large and in charge I believe though.
We have such a fantastic track record when "dad's" lead the recruitment.

Recruiting this year has been depressing af. Legacy misses. Top target missed. USA Basketball bearing no fruit. Duke is going to steal Stanley away last minute. We clearly wasted time on guys like Wiseman we knew we had no shot at.
Really just an all around suckfest.

A real suckstorm
don't put yourselves through the RJ torture just yet. Certainly doesn't help the teams shooting problems but he does mostly everything else spectacularly
