Under Oath Marty Blazer said he understood Dawkins to be saying "Duke, UNC & Kentucky will have people in place to pay whatever's necessary for Zion Williamson. Whatever Zion's family needed, we would be able to step in and (help with money) if it was close"
"Christian Dawkins who was in Las Vegas hotel room caught on video wire tap discussing Zion recruitment: "Duke is gonna have their resources. "UNC is UNC. Kenutcky is gonna have their resources"
IT'S GETTING JUICY!!!
Matt Norlander has tweeted about Steve Smith assistant coach at Clemson discussing potential payments to Zion Williamson.
Also USC's Tony Bland on tape discussing payments to lure Marvin Bagley Jr.
Hilarious how both ended up at Duke for FREE RIGHT??? RIGHT???
That is a good point about merging into one. 247 and Scout did it recently but even that pool of fans was one-sided in size with the Phog having way more. I don't think many on here would stick around if this place one day merged with the Phog. Nightmare over there and takes away from some of the people that post on there that actually are good.

ya Emphasis on " NOT TODAY " it's coming
We'll see if they do file the motion after today's proceedings.
Good points. I hope his investment into RJ pays off. Just going to sit back and see how it goes. These types of recruitments don't usually pay off for Self. Hopefully that changes with this one
Yeah there's a lack of coverage as well as a lack of connection into the program by those that are paid to do it. If there was a huge market for KU basketball/football recruiting I think you would see it change. Football has to become prominent again though.

Pat Forde never misses the opportunity to be a turd.
Turd wasn't the word that came my mind when I saw the headline. Can't read it, he's a meth head with a job
Holyfield & Tucker would make bigger impacts then Green/Nnaji. Change my mind
Thanks for posting. Doke's ability to play above the rim has a big impact on how the offense can operate. Dunks impact the game and can influence how a team responds on the other side as well. He's the definition of an easy bucket getter. His size can defer drives to the hoops but it might also have the opposite impact as teams gameplan. You may see teams take even more perimeter shots against KU. Some games that will work for and against us.
Hopefully we hear about Silvio soon. A 4 man can thrive in this offense beside Azubuike with the right skills. TJ Holyfield is perfect for this team
I had the same thoughts. I'm sure this gets spinned real quick. If he takes the stand I wonder how much he's willing to lie to protect himself

Can Hampton and Dotson co-exist on the court? Someone needs to be able to shoot on the perimeter..
Theyβd fit better than Dotson and Garrett...
And you think he'd play over him? I'd love to believe that would happen but would Self. He love Marcus
Can Hampton and Dotson co-exist on the court? Someone needs to be able to shoot on the perimeter..
I would have thought if he had plans to visit now that re-classified he would have already done so. Seems clear his intent is to go to Kentucky. They only have 8 scholarship players so I guess he sees that as a good situation for himself. He'll be stuck behind Maxey, Quickley, Whitney & Brooks though.
Great job @approxinfinity
Also true, his game picked up as he lost weight and shaped his body. His hard work and determination has him on the right path still. He was sitting around the Top 100 before his transformation really kicked in at Oak Hill. By the end of his Jr year on AAU he was up into the Top 50. Had a strong AAU season, won an Adidas title. Oak Hill probably helped him make the burger game in a down recruiting year. Wasn't a deep position group either.
Hopefully he isn't deterred by Azubuike's return. These are the type of situations soft kids tend to run away from
Show me the money. Well Jerry, Adidas showed up

@BeddieKU23 Dave was still an All-American. I'm not sold that he's thinking he's a 4 year player. Hope so.
I definitely focus on Doke's weaknesses, but I'm trying this year to be realistic about where we stand, relying somewhat on others to speak of the positives re: Doke :)
I feel confident saying Dave is a different type of All-American that had different expectations coming in. He wasn't always a top recruit and it wasn't until he changed his body, won a championship on his AAU squad and played on a loaded Oak-Hill team did he get recognition that some carry their entire HS career. This is a high character kid that comes from a good family and values his education. My expectation is he stays all 4 years and leaves a beloved Hawk
One last added thing about Doke.
I think we tend to focus on his weaknesses a little too much. I'm guilty as well. His bully ball game in the post is definitely a throw back to past generations. Self will incorporate the lob back into some regular set plays with him back. After his injury we lacked a real above the rim threat in the worst way. Nobody was throwing D Law a lob with his jumping ability (or lack of). The guards now have the ability to just throw it up.
Azubuike is a guy that can get his own shot. While he's dependent on a post entry he will be used a lot when we need points. A guy that can make 70% of his shots. I don't think we could put Charlie Moore's, Quentin Grimes & Marcus Garrett %'s together and get 70% shooting. That part of his game is so underappreciated. I never would have thought when he came to KU he'd be this efficient at what he does.
Having said all that its Self's job to fit the pieces around him. It's his job to sign some kids that can create floor spacing and stretch the court. He has a 1st team PG and 1st team C and everything in between needs to be planned to fit and compliment those two players. If he wants Azubuike's impact to max out he needs to bring guys in that will maximize that opportunity
That's why its key Self adds shooters that are going to be apart of the rotation. One at minimum, 2 would be even better. Self has 4 spots to sell even if De Sousa and Dotson are eligible and return to school. I say max out the roster and get at least 4 more guys in here that can shoot and compete
The return of Doke hits McCormack the most.
Neither can play the 4 so you limited to when Dave can be on the floor if Azubuike is staying out of foul trouble and impacting the game. Self is probably going to use Azubuike as his pun intended "center piece". It's going to be tough for Dave to get consistent minutes next year if Doke is healthy and playing 25+ minutes a game.
It's a good thing Dave came in as a likely 4 year player because while the competition will help him in practice, the lack of game minutes is going to stagnant his development that he'd get having starters minutes.
If I'm Dave I'm spending my entire summer working on my shot. We heard some grumblings he had a developing 10-12 foot jumper a few times in the season. I say he works all summer long expanding his shooting range. If the kid can develop a 3 ball or at least a mid-range jumper he offers something Azubuike cannot provide.

Can Zeus shoot the 3?
That's funny. Juzang is good, not elite by any means. Cant see him playing much

No way. You have be joking!!!
Transfer List has hit over 700 officially. No end to the madness.
Arizona picks up Kansas St killer Max Hazzard. Have no idea why he went there with Mannion, Josh Green, Williams and more on the roster.

@BeddieKU23 Doke certainly improved the baseline but I think there is still a wild swing for next year based on guys KU is still in on. Add Tucker and Holyfield and that's a top 10 roster easily.
Doke being back is monumental, if healthy. That's the million dollar question that will loom over the team every game and every practice.
I agree that adding those two transfers alone would make this a Top 10 team if Dotson returns. I guess we shall see what happens.
It puts incredible pressure on the team as well. If your trotting out Garrett and Azubuike on the floor at the same time that's just making it really easy for teams to guard you.

@BeddieKU23 nit status
There are posters that think KU might not even make the NIT next year, others calling for Self to be fired etc...
Sounds about normal. Imagine if Doke didn't come back.
Hasn't been a good year even I am restless with all the negativity surrounding the program and recruiting. Hopefully once this roster is in place I'll snap out of it
Its approaching rupp rafters status
That's true. Brown is someone that likely gets a look due to his shooting but what else does he do well that translates to the league. I think that's why his draft stock is what it is. I do agree though at KU 141 3's probably is looked at in a different light. It's a solid point if that's apart of their pitch.
He's a 20 something OAD that can gain a ton of exposure at KU. I wonder what role he's looking for after being the man at Ark LR. Under Dooley he was just a piece. Will a starting spot and 15 shots a game be what he wants? I hope the allure of playing for a blue-blood has some weight.
Most believe he ends up at Washington after Kentucky took the grad transfer from Bucknell.
Cole Anthony to Roy.
Still not a great team with him but he makes them better
Okeke is a pro prospect for Auburn. Before his ACL tear was a 1st round pick. I wonder what he does now.
I agree that Auburn's system hasn't produced pro's. They haven't been any good at basketball either until this run they had. Pearl can recruit though and Auburn is closer to his hometown.
Can KU sell him a starting spot? That puts Agbaji or Garrett on the bench... That's the kicker
If he wants to play immediately Miami is probably his best option. He didn't even have a large role on his HS team from what I saw a few weeks ago when they played Oak Hill which has an entire D-1 roster. I see the upside with him but I think his readiness is being overblown at a place like KU. I wonder what his plan is now that he's gotten a bunch of exposure and scouts interest
Agbaji played hurt down the stretch as well. I admire everything about what this kid provided for this team last year. I agree about building around him. Garrett has a ton of value, another player that played on one leg for his team. We know what he brings and what he doesn't. It's never going to change. But this team needs shooting desperately to balance it all out.
I think they will work hard to fit Agbaji into that SG position. I see him starting no matter who KU potentially lands.
Landing Tucker is basically a more polished version of Agbaji. It also removes the necessity for Garrett to start and play 40 minutes. We know where Self's loyalty is there though
So the return of Azubuike stunts the development of David McCormack. We'll get 4 years of Dave at least.
Still need a PF even if De Sousa returns. TJ Holyfield with his ability to stretch the floor is ideal.
Need at least 1 more perimeter player that can shoot. Tucker is the big fish to get and is the biggest need outside of a starting 4 man. Otherwise McBride is going to play a ton as a freshman. He may anyway and is a gifted scorer with the type of game this team needs. If Self picks up two perimeter players that means he doesn't expect the freshman guards to contribute in a significant way.
With Azubuike back you can't start Garrett. I don't care how many shots he puts up this summer again that jumper is broken.
De Sousa and Azubuike would be the most athletic front court in the country. Not holding my breathe on that happening although its great to dream.
I think Creighton is out for Enaruna as they hosted a 3 star SG/SF prospect yesterday for an official visit and are likely to land him. Down to KU/Miami it looks. Both Adidas schools
I can't imagine Memphis can land Tucker they already have a Top 50 player at his position coming in DJ Jeffries. Auburn is definitely going to be tough to beat for him as he fits their system to a T.
KU desperately needs him.
Enaruna is still a big need for Miami. They don't have a SF on the roster
Sounds like that was what happened. Devonte was the most recent example of this. Usually has worked out well for both player and fans when this happened.
Good work!

They only had 6 scholarship players going into the signing period. Not sure that deters him from them but I'd love for that to actually be a thing that impacts a team like it seems to KU
