Big 12 Awards • Mar 10, 2019 11:58 PM

@Hawk8086

I think a big thing that has driven Culver for POY is the fact he is likely going to be a lottery pick. Perception plays a part in this. While dedrics stats were great I dont think he had a signature game where he put this team on his back where voters can hang that above Culver or even Brown. I know Dedric has some big games this yr but I think the league takes his "old man game" and given double double, 20 and just takes it for granted.

With KU Losing the streak I think there were those that believed the only way Dedric could win it is if the team continued the streak

A lot of buzz out there that Shaka is leaving UT. Will Baker and/or Kai Jones come on down!

Jones wanted KU but that one will be interesting theres arrangements that have been made in his situation to stay where hes going

Quinones could be a difference maker here but there's ya know concerns. We cant really take those

Nice story about (not so Big anymore) Dave • Mar 10, 2019 03:23 PM

Another good game for Dave yesterday with 12 points. He is growing up before our eyes

Braun • Mar 10, 2019 02:41 PM

Congrats to Braun on the title

Morant was a true legit DITR that was recruited by basically no one.

I'm so impressed with how he is a dominant left hand player while shooting righty. He draws contact with the best of them and makes them. So unselfish out there for a star player. Rooting for Murray in their first round game

I'll just be happy if we can win Thursday. Losing to Shaka twice in a season would be unacceptable

Say what you want about the passiveness of Selden and Wiggins, but at least they could dunk.

Agree

I would think so too but the NBA has drafted off less before... So I could see after his JR year perhaps.

Agree. I expect he will take a big leap this offseason. He needs his confidence back

The NBA talk was so hyperbole. Love the kid but he is not 100% out there

@HighEliteMajor

Do you think the fact Self gave him a 2nd chance has left him in a defensive stance here regarding what to say and what not to. Maybe Self feels responsible for this situation. We know he likes to protect his players even if it means he doesnt get to be completely honest with it all. Just giving us enough sound bites here and there to form our own opinions. The fact he isn't here for Sr Night confirms my thoughts and common sense

Nice story about (not so Big anymore) Dave • Mar 09, 2019 06:38 PM

@Bwag

Thanks. I believe every move we see after the season is important. Almost like a GM, Self will be busy building and shaping next years bunch. He has a good nucleus but we need 1-2 starter level players to sign and come here. Of course this is under the assumption we dont see any major penalties after the season. I have a feeling the offseason is going to be anything but quiet for us fans

Other Games Tonight • Mar 09, 2019 06:32 PM

The worst part of this is now KU will catch a Texas team fighting for their tournament life. Not cool

McBride Quotes, Articles etc... • Mar 08, 2019 10:49 PM

I hope Braun proves to be good enough to play next yr as a spot up shooter. We need both to make buckets.

@BeddieKU23 Ideally, you land Enaruma and one of the other two. I won't be picky.

If we whiff on Hurt and Achiuwa though, I think we really need to find another playable wing. Depth looks like a major issue next season.

I'm interested in finding out if Enaruma is actually as good as the hype coming in on him recently. His highlights are not bad but then you put actual tape of his games and I'm underwhelmed. Of course he seems to be developing as we speak so who knows. Theres a world of difference between Hurt, Achiuwa and him and as you said ideally maybe you get him to come in and develop while the top 10 guys start and play a big role. This isnt a deep class full of immediate plug and play talent which really isnt ideal because KU needs difference making talent as it looks.

Best case Scenario is somehow Self lands at least Hurt or Achiuwa. Together they would be a heck of a duo in the frontcourt in a perfect world. We could bring Dave in off the bench for a 15-20 minute role as the big enforcer. Mitch fills his role as he always has as the 4th big.

If we only land 1 then I hope there is an athletic 5 man available on the transfer market. Think about how big Reid Travis was for Kentucky this yr which I didnt see, I was wrong there. Also in our own league Tarik Owens has made the difference for Texas Tech. Tarik Black was a heck of a 1 yr man here years back. I'd ditch the sitout transfer market until he solidifies next years squad.

If we are down to 7 guys with 5 spots open I'd love for Self to have at least 12 eligible players. It's been literally years since he even finished a season with 10. That's a problem. We are potentially looking at a real end of an era, dynasty whatever you want to call it if these guys leave and Silvio doesnt get his season back. Self needs to find veterans to blend with his young pups. I'm excited for the 2 signed freshman and I hope they find minutes next year.

I can see a scenario where Self is in on every major transfer on the market. I cant see him being okay with how young he might be. He missed bad on Moore on that last spot 2 yrs ago. Dedric was a plus but we've gotten only a handful of impactful games from KJ who was part of the package deal. 2 of 3 sit out transfers have not produced as 3rd and 4th yr college players. I'm about to start digging into what might be coming available on the market

I'd imagine they have to withhold Javonte Smart as well, no word yet..

Will Wade was suspended Indefinitely.

Should last less then 24 hours. The NCAA will clear him LOL

Hurt, Achiuwa, Enaruma, ____ transfer big. Come on down

The Streak • Mar 08, 2019 05:48 PM

I'll be freakin ecstatic if we win one game this tournament. Low expectations but imo realistic ones given the roster's ceiling. If Self makes the 2nd weekend with this group give the guy another raise

New 2019 Recruiting • Mar 08, 2019 05:47 PM

@BShark

Which makes the recent Stanley chatter make sense. Stanley was an option when everyone thought Grimes was actually good

Wow. That program is going completely FUBAR.

The entire league looks likely to have a nuclear transition. It's gonna get buck wild

Mid Year Transfers • Mar 08, 2019 05:09 PM

134 mid-year transfers.

Last year's haul ended up near 900 overall. This year is trending well over 1,000 I think

@BShark

If he's the starting 5 next year which seems likely I think he'll average double figure points. The sample size is small but when he gets in the game for +15 minutes he puts up stats. How much of a leap he makes this summer is a big story to watch
