Time to regroup and focus! Tough road ahead, but the quest for banner number six begins now! Let's go Jayhawks!
@HighEliteMajor isn't it ironic that the two lowest ranked guys in the last two classes are going to be the most valuable this year and throughout their career at Kansas.
What a turn around from No-rank Frank to MVP
Tough loss but they played with heart and toughness. Proud of their effort.
He has been productive in limited time so far. I hope he really takes off and silences his critics once and for all. !image.jpg ↗

Did Bill Self open a jewelery store? 😄
Saw this yesterday and thought of Bill Self and HEM!
I was going to go to bed in the middle of second half, feeling frustrated. Glad I stayed up. Loved the relentless fight the team showed late in the game.
Can't buy a three.
Can't catch a break.
Not looking good.
To coach Self (in my best Rick Pitino impression):
Bill, Wayne Simien is not going to walk through that door. Cole Aldrich is not going to walk through that door. Thomas Robinson is not going to walk through that door.
This team is not going to win inside, and forcing it to do so is confusing not only their offensive identity but sapping their energy out on the defensive end as well.
I don't think the coach is listening to me. Barring a change of heart for coach Self, this team's ceiling is Sweet Sixteen, floor is the first game. And it is closer to the floor than to the ceiling at this point.
@Crimsonorblue22 Sure!
It's being reported that he has already agreed to a buyout with the Nuggets and will become a free agent. Good move. He wasn't going to get much time with Faried in front of him. Hope he finds a team that really needs him.
They do have Kansas if you click to go the Elite Daily page at the bottom of the article.
Need to move on from this loss. This was always going to be tough but we almost won it. Back to work now!

Will need Mason and Graham on their A-game to beat the Mountaineers.
Frank to unleash his inner Bulldog!
@Crimsonorblue22 it was Cliff he was trying posterize and gave the Heisman to.
Man, Gottlieb is getting on my nerves!!!
@wissoxfan83 yeah, but the fat lady hasn't even warmed up yet. We got time for the Phog to come alive.

@Crimsonorblue22 Thanks! but it disappeared. :(
What happened to my post with the Allen Fieldhouse Picture "No Place Like Home"??

Oubre seems recovered from whatever had him down the last couple of games.
Trust me. You do not want Kentucky to lose before the tournament. That's what I wanted in 2012 also, and the minute KY lost in the SEC tournament, I knew they will be unstoppable.
@Crimsonorblue22 I hope so too. He is due for a big game.
This is one of those games that we can't over-analyze. One of those road losses that happens in a long conference season. Truth is we could have blown them out regardless of the game-plan. I just thought we played really sloppy and lazy at times, which gave Okies the momentum they needed.
We're still in the driver seat for #11. We'll be fine.
Travis Ford with his pearls of wisdom.
Need Devonte and Frank both in to neutralize this press for a while and take the wind out of the cowpokes.
Hoping Wayne continues his form. He's my Hawk to Rock in this one!

@Jyhwk_InTigrtwn thanks for the compliments. I'll pass it on to them. They use several different apps on the same picture to get the effects. It goes over my head. They started last year and have come a long way.
@JayhawkRock78 yes, kind of. Far Side used to be my favorite comic strip and it is also a play on some letters in my name and initials.
@jaybate-1.0 my kids have become hard-core Jayhawk fans and run this account on Instagram doing this type of editing as a hobby.

I'll try to post more often if you guys like.
@globaljaybird yeah, not a tattoo fan myself. But to each his own, I guess...
Bring it on!!!!
😄 @HighEliteMajor, I think coach Self just says these things to troll you. Hopefully we continue to see the outside/in philosophy in action on the court.
He is a great talent and I would be excited to see him in a Jayhawk uniform but a couple of reasons that give me a pause:
-
Is he the right fit for Self? He's not the typical big that Self likes and may not be able to adapt in one year, while in the process disrupt the chemistry and identity that we are building this year. Maybe if Self plays him like he does Perry, outside in, it may work.
-
Is he going to be another media circus like Wiggins? I loved having Wiggins on the team because of his humble personality and it will pay dividends if he continues to rise in the NBA, but his presence impacted the development of other multi-year guys.
All in all, I like how our team is right now and what it will be next year (even with Oubre leaving and everyone else staying) without anymore additions. Sure, a true footer would help next year's team, but not sure Thon's game is suited for a Self-type footer.
@HighEliteMajor You need to call in to Self's radio show again and ask him this question, something the journalists just won't do.
@HighEliteMajor I certainly that's true and that Self doesn't relapse in a moment of weakness.
I will add that This game also saw the return of frentic pressure defense. I think Devonte's return had a lot to do with that. To conserve Frank's energy, I think Self had eased up on the on-ball pressure. With Devonte back, the dogs were unleashed and we benefitted on the offensive end as well.
Wiggins is having a great rookie year, probably best rookie campaign since Pierce.
Ben McLemore is having a significantly better sophomore year. Unfortunately, he is playing with ball-hogs (Rudy Gay and Cousins) and hence not putting up enough shots. But he is scoring efficiently and can score a lot more.
Markieff is having the best year of his career. Marcus decent in a back-up role. Funny how throughout college the roles were reversed.
Chalmers is contributing but has been inconsistent.
Any team with half a brain would keep Tarik on the roster. The guy personifies hustle and hard-work, you need as many of these guys as you can in a locker room.
TRob really needs to find a team that can utilize him properly, otherwise he'll be out of the league soon.
Cole seems to be enjoying a resurgence; hopefully he can continue. Withey will only get spot duty, as Mr. EyeBrows becomes a Star. He will need to be in the right situation to showcase his abilities.
Pierce, Hinrich, Collison, and Gooden are in the final stages of their careers.
Rush, Arthur, and Xavier's injuries have really thrown a monkey-wrench in their career, right when they appeared to take-off and cement their place in the league. Not sure how long they will last now.
I don't want any more perimeter players, not even Brown, even if we lose Oubre.
Sophomore Svi/Junior Greene will contribute more and have better TEAM chemistry than OAD Freshmen Brown.
We could really use another post player (Diello or Zimmerman) but I'm not losing sleep if we don't get anyone either. Even if Cliff leaves, you have the same front court with another year of experience and Bragg replaces Cliff. If Cliff does come back, even better.
PS If freshman Wiggins couldn't carry us to the promised land; freshman Brown won't either.
Rodney seems to be like BennyBob (and some other aliases that I now forget). The negative nancies...
I'm glad we got him and if we add another post player (assuming Cliff stays), we'll definitely see either or both of Lucas/Mickelson leaving. I always hate when players that have put in the time have to leave, but we can significantly upgrade the talent there.
On the perimeter, I really don't want to sign anyone, including #2 Jaylen Brown. I'd rather have all the current guys come back. Even if Oubre leaves, we still have a stacked rotation and don't think anyone would be an upgrade (in one year) on the guys we already have. Sophomore Svi would be the best prospect in 2015 class.
Good Analysis, HEM. I see a lot of improvement in Perry Ellis. Very aggressive on both the offensive and defensive ends of the floor. He will have his challenges against the bigger guys, but his approach is a lot different from last year (even from the Kentucky game).
Selden just leaves me wanting more. I've had a man-crush on him since I first watched his mix-tape. But it just hasn't translated to the college game. Still hopeful that I'll get to see that beast before he takes off the KU uniform.
The TEAM continues to emerge!
Bring on the Utes!
I hope Wiggins stays in Cleveland and develop without pressure. It also means he won't get the ball as much with so many stars around, but it's 100x better to be on a winning team, learning from the best, instead being traded to, perish the thought, Minnesota!
I would think that Wake Forest would be the best fit for him, since I'm assuming Danny Manning runs a lot of stuff similar to Coach Self, and AWIII would be ahead of the curve compared most of the incumbent players.
@joeloveshawks I agree, I thought he'd be in the top 3 too, but you can really make a case for any of the top 6. I bet if we didn't flame out against Stanford this past season, he'd be higher.
Self made it on the list at #6.
