I have it on. The women’s team still sucks. But man it’s great to see a full Fieldhouse again.

I was at the game. Man these guys play so hard. Defense was flying around in the first half, just ran out of gas. The passing game is coming along really well. Feels like Kotelnicki is learning a ton each week about what these guys do well. OL is still a a problem. Was nice to chat with some parents of players and get their feel of how things are going. Some frustrations here and there but you’ll have those growing pains. Gonna really suck to be without Kenny for the first half next week. On we go.

I like your honesty, Farmer. And you're right, steps in a good direction. We have our coach, now need a new stadium. Some will ask, "why?" I'll answer with, "because that's the way that things are."

Things are moving on the stadium front. Lots of $$$ being thrown around trying to get it done.

He won’t be the last this year.

Oof?

I'm not going to name drop but there are a few considering it. In a normal year they would've left in the offseason with the coaching change, but Lance did a great job of getting almost everyone to at least give it a shot. Some will see the writing on the wall that they're passed on the depth chart and will find opportunity elsewhere. Others just won't buy into the culture change and be advised to leave. And with the NCAA legislation coming down that give schools 7 extra "transfer counters" you can be more aggressive in turning the roster over.

He won’t be the last this year.

Baylor • Sep 18, 2021 08:57 PM

Only down a score at half. I’m so, so impressed with Leipold and co’s coaching. This team would’ve folded after Q1 in past years. Get the ball out of the break and we’ve got a shot here.

Early league schedule is a cakewalk. Non-con is uncharacteristically soft too. Unless Remy just isn't good it's hard to see how we don't get a top 2 seed.

There were alot of upsets, no doubt. This was really not an upset but I'll say it anyway, Clemson is not going to the playoff. Infact, after watching the Notre Dame - FSU game, though the Seminoles lost, people had better start paying attention to them in the ACC.

I tell ya what my friend. Georgia looked REALLY good. I mean REALLY good. - -very quick , fast their linebacking core is SWEET. - - I think they had Clemson frustrated , looked to me as Georgia was in control of that game for the most part - -now didn't say all but I just thought Georgia was the better team

True. But Georgia did not scare me offensively. I still think that the four best teams are Alabama, Oklahoma, A&M and - wait for it... - Cincinnati... I think that FSU is going to win the ACC, and they aren't even rated right now.

Diehard FSU fan here, We are not winning the ACC

Good call. Also, condolences.

Lots of improvement from last week. New team, new system against 19 starters from an 11-1 team on the road. Have to get better along the OL and ST but we’re ahead of where I thought we’d be. Onto Baylor.

South Dakota • Sep 04, 2021 03:47 AM

1-0 MOFOS

Bean will be the starter. Neal wasn't listed on the two deep but will get probably 10 or so touches. I like our OL better than I have in a few years. I think we have a solid 5: Bostick, Clark, Novitsky, Grunhard, Cabledue. And the next 3 (Hughes, Ford, Lopeti) are decent. I think Hughes overtakes Grunhard eventually. He's just been dinged up. Not a ton of depth though. I'm guessing like 27-17 final.

I like the smurf turf and surf turf for these underdog programs. Pretty unique and harmless. Except for the birds who dive onto the field thinking it’s actually water 😳😂

@wissox said in BIG, ACC, PAC12 Alliance:

@FarmerJayhawk Tulane isn't a big TV market for basketball at all. They don't even know the sport exists in Louisiana. Not sure if Tulane would ever be competing for football players that would be good enough to make them a power 5 type school.

Oh yeah definitely not as far as as butts in the seats. Yulman Stadium may not even hold 30k. But NOLA is a big market in that you have a lot of people that can get games, which helps the networks raise revenue. That could also be my wild eyed optimism from loving NOLA and Louisiana more broadly! It is a tough school to get into (average ACT is 32) and the cream of the Athletics crop in the state can’t get in and if they did petition in, it would be really tough to make it academically. They don’t have “athlete tracks” there. So you’re probably right! But I wouldn’t oppose adding them as the Big 12 version of Northwestern pre-Randy Walker

BIG, ACC, PAC12 Alliance • Aug 30, 2021 01:17 AM

I’ve heard KU isn’t going to kneecap the league and will support expansion, but not sign a new GoR. They’re working off the assumption OUT will join the SEC starting with 2023 football. That could obviously change if they can’t agree to an exit deal.

In no particular order I’ve heard Cincy, CSU, BYU, and UCF are the top targets. Might look to Houston and USF or Boise if they want to go to 14. Like Tex said BYU has big advantages and disadvantages and things like the BYU Network would have to get ironed out. Boise’s academics are not good and they take tons of partial qualifiers for football, which diminishes their appeal somewhat. My dark horse pick for expansion, based on just my opinion, is Tulane. Terrific academics, big tv market, fertile recruiting ground, and easy travel. I think the Big 12 wants to avoid the “city school” image and take G5 second tier state schools (e.g. UCF, CSU) or good private schools (BYU, Tulane) and avoid city brands except like Cincy who has a very strong resume.

If (when?) other leagues hit the green light KU will be very, very sought after. So while nothing is imminent, it doesn’t mean KU is stuck in this craptastic league for all eternity.

Any word on who will RS?

Way too early to say for sure, but what I can say is take Cuffe to the bank. Beyond that I really don’t know. And won’t for awhile.

Cuffe was a 4-star right? His game is that undeveloped? Serious question, not trying to be a smartass. I realize though that we are bigtime deep.

Yeah, he only played two real years of HS ball. Reclassified and 20-21 was basically canceled in NJ. Needs time.

Same my man. It's going to be a roller coaster this year watching this team grow.

2013-14 was my first year at KU for grad school. Went to as many games as I could. Still have the ticket sub for 3rd row behind the basket for the Sprint Center game against New Mexico. The progression game to game is something we may never see again. One game he can’t see a double team, the next he’s our assists leader because everyone doubles him and he effortlessly finds the open man. So thankful he’s a Jayhawk.

I don’t get all the hate on this move. The GOATs of the sport have promoted former players and won about a gazillion titles. All the players really like Case too.

Brady Morningstar • Aug 16, 2021 11:07 PM

Least we could do after sacrificing a limb for the team

We're going to have a soft landing. Once the NCAA goes away or there's a power league breakaway, basketball will be much more valuable. Right now, the NCAA takes basically all the TV revenue from the tournament and distributes it according to a wonky formula and keeps a big chunk of it for its own operations. Once conferences get that big chunk we bring significant value.

Next, the B1G is very interested in our academic profile. According to KU, the research part of the University brought in nearly $160 million in research grants in the last year with data, not including KU Med. KU Athletics as a whole had a shade over $100m in revenue in the last year of data. KU spent nearly $300 million as a whole on research. This obviously dwarfs any sports related stuff. That's really attractive to the B1G.

Is it a guarantee? No, of course not. But there are a lot of power brokers in the league that want KU.
