@approxinfinity said in Bryce Thompson to transfer:
I'm not ready to character assassinate Bryce from the quotes in this article. He got injured, he never again saw the season high in minutes / points from the first game. I'm sure the entire season was stressful and he worried about falling out of the rotation. I think he'll do well on a smaller school where he doesn't have to handle some of the concerns that you have at a school like Kansas.
Same. I’ve seen firsthand how hard this year was on many a college freshman. I certainly see the appeal of going back home with near guaranteed minutes. I’m sorry to see him go though. I think we would’ve been really good for us eventually.

Veciene's take over at The Athletic, "He’s a terrific athlete who can create a shot from all three levels. More of an adept shooter than a truly good one, that will be the biggest growth area for him as he continues his development. If he can lock down that skill, he should turn into a legitimate high-major all-conference player. NBA scouts reached out early in the season with some interest, too, after averaging nearly 20 points and six assists in his first five collegiate games. With four years left in his eligibility, he’s one of the more valuable players available now. He’ll have interest across the country."
WANT
Looked at his stats today. Dude averaged 4 offensive boards per game mostly off the bench. Dude is a machine. And rebounding is one of those things that translates. Will be nice to have since Dave is a poor rebounder for his size.
oh hai
Not a great shooter but certainly can improve when he’s not the #1 option.
I’d take Garrett the wing back in a heartbeat. If he can replicate what he did off the ball in 19-20 while maintaining his improvement from the line he’s definitely one of the best players in the league.
Some poor guy who really needs a hobby wrote a way too long piece on candidates. Worth checking out tho https://gametheoryblog.wixsite.com/gametheory/single-post/kansas-football-coaching-search-a-tradition-unlike-any-other ↗
I wonder how much the portal is also due to the stringent health requirements and the effects on players' mental health. Self talks about it extensively on the Jayhawker https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/the-jayhawker-podcast/id1492511586?i=1000516947104 ↗
Doke and the Morris twins made her a lot of money. Will be interesting to see where she ends up.
@BShark patience
Okie Lite for Bryce.
@Kcmatt7 suuuuuper low buyout too. I’m a little afraid when he doesn’t run 4 corners some rich blue hair will try to bully UNC into canning him.
The Davis era off to a rough start in Chapel Hill. Missed on Kessler and his #1 assistant coach target.

Monken would be a spread guy at KU. Fun fact: one of his assistants was the HC at KS Wesleyan for a few years.

Recruited over before stepping on campus. Nate Oats is a G.
You think KU takes another run at him?
I do not. Bishop >>>>
Walker Kessler to Auburn. Coup for Bruce.

@Kcmatt7 I didn't realize Petrino just led MSU to a friggen conference championship his first year there lmao.
Screw it. Just hire the guy. The only man who can turn KU Football around.
They had a wild year. Started their season back in the fall and just wrapped up. Petrino is a grade A prick but can coach his arse off. That being said, it’ll be Monken or Leipold.
Announcing tomorrow. I think LSU but KU got in late. https://www.sports-reference.com/cbb/players/xavier-pinson-1.html ↗
@AsadZ I think now is the right time to hire. There isn’t any competition from other schools in the market so we kind of have our pick. Leipold and Monken were both finalists for P5 jobs last year, so I don’t want to have to compete with other schools when hiring in December.
Fun fact. Oppenheimer was actually predicting Joe Dooley with his famous quote, 'Now I am become Death, the destroyer of worlds'.

@bennie said in Yesufu to KU (Drake PG Transfer):
@tis4tim well obviously its better for Self to have starting talent sitting on the bench. but none of them except maybe Lightfoot considers themself a bench player. and thats what will result in some transfers once some of these recruits figure out they miscalculated their odds of getting significant playing time.
Perhaps Mitch will be Howard’s replacement?

Are we going to have Christian B1, and Christian B2? I mean, we are a public school. What about the establishment clause, for ------'s sake?
One is even a bishop!!
@BShark just a matter of both parties being ready to move on. I suspect he’ll end up closer to home in Alabama but ¯_(ツ)_/¯
Garrison Brooks to the portal. What do we think bucketeers? Worth a call?
The NBA is a specialists league. You have to do at least one thing REALLY well to break in. Jalen doesn't have that, and probably never will. He won't get a combine invite (maybe a G League combine?) and will promptly plop down in McCarthy for another year. I don't begrudge any kid for seeing if he can make money in the Real World[sic]. We would've been stupendously better with Malik Newman in 18-19 at the 2 than Grimes and that would've been awesome (can you imagine his shooting with Doke and Dedric?), but he was never going to be a NBA guy. He's making money playing hoops in Israel now. Good for him!
@KirkIsMyHinrich said in Jalen Declares For Draft:
Jalen receiving feedback on what he needs to improve to play at the next level is a good thing. I'm guessing it'll be get better at shooting, defense, and jumping higher than 4 inches.

I would not come to KU if I was TyTy and wanted to be the primary ball handler. He is going to get used differently by Self.
If he wants to have a shot at a Natty - and still get put in the position to shine - this is the place to come. He'll get some primary ball handler duties. But he would also get to play off the ball.
Agree. Seems destined for a Devonte SO/JR year type roll. Which he'd be so, so good at. Cleary the Harris/Yesufu and Tyty combo wouldn't be as good as Frank and Dtae, but could get close after a year or so.
Auburn landed a transfer PG. Not sure their scholarship situation but it's getting full over there.
Getting some interest. He'd at least listen and probably interview. I have him at the top of tier 2 on my board. https://247sports.com/coach/Dan-Lanning-3823/ ↗
Not sure Hamilton is what we need. Not a great shooter.
Och can definitely improve his consistency and defense yet. He’s a very good on ball defender but not as good in the team context.
