Lawrence Arnold in. That one really sucks. Probably need two portal WRs now.

Dam now that one hurts for sure what the hell. you can't tell me he wasn't going to see plenty of field time

For sure. He was WR1. I can also say for sure the others were all planned. Trimming the fat. They’ll get more dudes in the portal this spring and summer. May 1 is the portal deadline for fall eligibility so we’ll know some more then.

Must’ve scored a great deal with an ignition interlock company

@rockchalkjayhawk Maybe @FarmerJayhawk can confirm but I'm fairly confident we only asked him to reclass because Bryce left. Bill likes having the roster full.

Yeah the plan was to take him as a 22 recruit until… we didn’t

I’m not that worried about Tang. He’s not a great game coach. Drew didn’t really take off until McCasland et al got on board. Tang was the lead man when they were running junk zones and getting dunked on at AFH all the time. He’ll upgrade their recruiting for sure. But it’s still KSU. And it’s hard to recruit to Manhattan.

Mentioned this on 247 recently but Tonto was my favorite. Got douchey with me when we first offered about how Sam wasn't good enough (due to other offers) then also blew up slamming Self when the situation with his mom went down.

Check out some of his more recent work. Not only was he really bad at hoops evals, he went full covid truther lol https://247sports.com/college/kansas/user/tonto22/ ↗

Fun story for those that may not know, plus it's been awhile.

KU had been recruiting Sam Williamson for awhile. When he was basically unranked and his other offers were Incarnate Word, Abilene Christian etc because he was a KU legacy. At the time this story happened, Sam was a 4* recruit, top 40 range and CB was #182 (lol). CB pops up on KU's radar in late August (KSU thought they had a real shot at him in mid August). They bring him in for an unofficial visit on August 30th (the day before Sam's visit) and Bill loves what he sees, offers on the spot. Sam comes in the next day with his parents and his mom is not happy about the offer to another kid at the same position. Bill asks for a commitment from Sam or KU is moving on because they had a kid they really like ready to commit (CB).

Oh lord I remember some good meltdowns when we took CB over Sam. KSU recruited Braun way harder than anyone which makes it even more funny

What's our fate? • Apr 11, 2022 10:14 PM

@Kcmatt7 said in What's our fate?:

@wissox I just don't have a grasp of what is fair/what will happen. There has been such a large disparity in punishments for schools involved.

OSU got the book. NC State got a slap on the wrist.

NC State went through the IARP and should be very similar to our case (I would think). Resulted in one-year probation and a show-cause order for Gottfried.

"We specifically discussed whether or not we were going to impose a postseason ban, and we basically determined that we didn't want to hurt or punish the student-athletes that are currently competing," said Dana Welch, an arbitrator who served on the IRP. "We did, however, want the institution to take this very seriously, there were very serious recruiting violations here."

https://www.espn.com/mens-college-basketball/story/_/id/32910784/nc-state-wolfpack-men-basketball-program-put-1-year-probation-ex-coach-mark-gottfried-gets-one-year-show-cause-order ↗

This is what I would think we would get. Bill maybe gets a 1-year show-cause and KT will get 3-4 years or something like that. I'm guessing there will be a nice big fine and possibly a scholarship while under the show-cause orders. Possible vacating of the 2018 FF (which would be kind of funny to see as we put up the new banners).

But, we could get the book thrown at us. Bill made an example of.

Will be interesting if he is able to keep the name Teflon Bill after this is settled.

I agree with most of this. The only difference really is Gottfried was actively making the payments, where Townsend has some plausible deniability.

What did I miss?

It's becoming clear we're going to whiff on a ton of local kids this cycle. No reason to panic, but also not ideal

National guys or mostly to KState?

A little of both. Avery Johnson seems likely to KSU now. A lot of bigger places have slow played him. KU has recruited him the hardest, but seems like we're the nerd hitting on the prom queen. The RBs will go elsewhere. Nobody seems to know jack on Randle, but it's 100% not KU. We don't have the... resources... to pull that one off. Edwards looks like OU. The OL are tricky. I really, really, really want Otting and Clements but Otting seems to be holding out for Iowa and Clements possibly Baylor. I think KU sits in the second tier with both. Wes Fair is going to KSU. The only local kids I feel good about are Sam Same and Tre Richardson. To a lesser extent Andre Davis. I think we're in the top tier with all those guys, but someone could swoop in and snag Davis if he has a good year.

Rumor is KSU is offering $50k for Kansas guys to sign. I don't know exactly where we are but I know it's not that high.

Just looking at the list (https://evanmiya.com/), ↗ most of the top ranked guys don’t make a lot of sense. Shannon clearly does as a replacement for Och/Braun/Wilson. Gaines also might since he’s an absolute lockdown defender. Could be a nice backup to Juan if Bobby doesn’t quite step up like we hope. Landers Nolley makes some sense. Seems like he never found a role at Memphis and a fresh start under a good coach would do him some good. 2 to play. Norchad Omier might make sense as well if we play Zach at the 5. Interior scorer and rebounder extraordinaire. SBC player and defensive player of the year. Kentucky is on him now.

I've watched the second half a few times. Not really interested in the first half tbh.
