@StLJhawk I made a similar collection of every bucket Danny scored in the 88 championship game When i worked for the cbs affiliate in Waco. Man i wish i still had that tape.
Its gotta be the SHOES!
Could cause them to be too amped. Delicate situation for coach.
If I am not mistaken, basketball guru Larry Brown, can be seen in the video of the team arriving at the hotel in SA. What an advantage to have that bball mind advising the team and coaches. Cool to see how much coach brown still loves KU.
@wissox Nice post!
@BigBad Perhaps he air balled fron 3 feet because he was afraid my man Silvio was gonna come clock him in the schnoz again!
The cowering shot nearly fell like a sacrificial offering Silvios feet.
@betterfireE I think jay jay howard has a scouting report. We ought to ckeck in with him.
@kjayhawks + he was moving. What a bunch of putzes.
@Kcmatt7 like your comparison list. I felt pretty good until 6th man. That dude is head and shoulders above Garrett. And he worries me. I just think it is so important we establish Dok, collapse their D and free up our marksmen
4 Rafters
@jaybate-1-0 That was the trough. We hit 12 of 28 for 43%. Doke gets 18 on 9 dunks, and this time we punk them with our superior muscle. Hudy makes all tournament team.
@Bwag Thank God Bill would not cower to Trae's idiot dad and let him "play his game". Which is to dribble a lot, take horrible shots, and turn it over at alarming rates. Thank you Coach for sticking to your principles.
@BShark He did not win them all, but Silvio diving, scrapping, clawing, not backing down from ANYONE was big, BIG, huge. He just left it all out there and played so incredibly well for a kid who should be in high school. I may start writing the movie script tonight. Hoop Dreams 2: Coming to America to live the real dream.
@wissox Aren't you glad Preston DID hit the curb? It would have sucked to have had to vacate this wonderful ride. And we would not have had the awesome Silvio plot line. I bet he is really kicking himself, poor kid.
@BShark It is an interesting and wonderful plot line, no?
@HighEliteMajor What Silvio has done is beyond remarkable. To go from being in HS 3 months ago to saving our bacon so that he will be in the Final 4 is the stuff of movies. Silvio is living the real hoop dreams. Even with the wild pass 10 feet over Svi's head into the stands. I love everything about the kid. I have never bought a KU jersey, but I think I'm going to spring for a #22. And to seek Dok so happy and hugging him after the buzzer....priceless.
@jaybate-1-0 But who cares!!!!! We are going to the freaking Final Four!!!!
@jaybate-1-0
Big Rotation
Dok, Lawson, Silvio, McCormick
Guard/Forward Rotation
Malik, Vick, Moore, Lawson, Grimes, Garrett, Dotson
Going 11 deep next year. Mitch RS, Sam RS or gone. Very crowded. Practices will be a bear. Might need Malik to go Pro, but agree he is not quite ready.
@jaybate-1-0 if he runs off sam and red shirts mitch he has enough schollies to keep all the big guys including Dok. And that is with malik and vick back. We would be a power house
@BShark @jaybate-1-0 Any way to find how many dunks Dok has had this season? It has to be a KU record. I think he is back so he can prefect a 6-10 foot jumper. He will be top lottery.
@KUSTEVE I really did intend to pull for KSU, but then the game started, and they were so tight, and Bruce looked so confused, and those two kids from Overland Park seem like such good dudes, and Sister Jean is so sweet and righteous, and their coach seems like a really cool guy and is a really snappy dresser....It was just so impossible to not root for the God Squad. The game outcome was the complete opposite of what I predicted. I thought the fantasy ride would end and KSU would win by 15+ in a cakewalk to the Final 4. This one will burrrrrnnnnnnn long and slow for all the purple whiners.
@wissox I think in your scenario of the boorish KY hicks standing in the rafters, you had full right to ask them to sit after the tip off. Had they flipped me the bird as they did you, I would have then went and asked an usher to have them sit. I would have no problem doing that. You paid equally good money for your seat and have every right to watch the game in the comfort of your seat. Last I checked, if you bought a seat, then you are not in the SRO section, no?
Uh, it may be inappropriate for @Blown to comment on the secondary theme of this thread.
Loyola shot the ball lights out, almost at the level of Villanova vs. Georgetown back in the Rollie Massamino days. 50% from 3 and 57% overall. You are gonna loose when that happens. I was surprised Kstate's vaunted defense seemed so pedestrian. They came out flat and could not get in any rhythm. I think in the back of their minds, knowing Wade would not play, took something out of them. I have to give Weber credit for benching Wade in order to protect his Bball future. That took guts.
Mt daughter has a scholarship awards dinner tomorrow. Guess what time? And it is not even a big award she could win ($1400) but her fav teacher nominated her so she has to go. This cant be happening.
@BShark And thank goodness he did. Silvio's strength and athleticism is so far superior. Against Duke's bigs I think we will see more Silvio again. I love the kid. He is doing great for his 3 months of experience. What a ride he is on. Go Silvio!!
@Blown And who always seems to get the favorable zebra treatment? This is what worries me most about this game. I hate Dook with a flaming passion!!! The 8 on 5 issues is tough to overcome.
@dylans To your point....and thats the last you will ever hear about Trea young. He will be burried on the bench if he even makes a team, and then will be toiling in the Greece league in 3 years after an nba team wastes some money on the hype. He will be abused in practice by the men.
Espn Just reseeded the sweet 16 and dropped to a 3 seed.
Vick showed more emotion in one game last nigjt than he did all season. That is s very good sign. Bill just has to keep him dialed up.
When delgado. Wasnt walking he was flopping.
@Bosthawk I hear you. I am embarrased to admit how angry i get when we bow out. It is just a game with not-yet men pulling our heart strings. I may skip the elite 8 game if we get there just so i dont lose whats left of my mind π!
X, VA, Nova, KU
I fear the east coast bias will get us again and nova will punk us.
X over Nova. I know not popular but i think the east thing in real and hard to overcome.
@SkinnyKansasDude I think he is gonna be one of my all time favorites.
@SkinnyKansasDude Dont think i can jump to dominant but he was again above average on the boards. He just doent know how to play defense yet. But he is overcoming with athletecism. He also has fresh legs which could be a boon for us down the stretch. By his late soph / jr year he will be dominant on the glass for sure. I love his game, attitude, and spirit.
In a wildly emotional Hollywood moment, the FB player comes in and goes off for 14 and 10 in the second round and then doke rides in on a white horse to take us home to the F4.
@wissox Typing on small phone keypad should not exclude one from PHOFs! π
@wissox What does Wayne Gretsky have to do with it? π
@dylans I am sure mu fans will whine sbout it.
That Young is kind of an A hole.
@BeddieKU23 32-20! π
@kjayhawks Interesting, I had never heard that.
on another note, there is still people saying Young will be POY. how could young be nat POY if he is not the best player in his conf? that stuff makes me sick.
Based on that pic, I think Bamba could dunk on a 12 foot goal. Good Lord!!!
If we also make a run to the F4 this year, then I think you have to weight this year higher than 2012 as far as HCBS's best job. The drama of Preston, the much thinner talent pool, less experience in the post, adding a player mid year. I would see this year as much more challenging and improbable.
If they began naming Fog Banks like they do Tropical Storms, I'd name the Fog Bank LaGerald. He is in a complete and utter fog...and not the good kind e.g. Phog.
He is wandering aimlessly on the court, casually and repeatedly throwing the ball away, weak on the boards, getting blown by on D, and providing very little on the offensive end. I think it's time to start Garrett. He is bringing far more to the table and I bet his 3 point shooting % is very close to Vick over the last 10 games (if anyone has that stat).
@JayHawkFanToo Which changes my point not at all.
There was a lot of home cooking at key junctures that altered the flow of the game. Bill rarely gets a T and the other coaches were seen laughing at the ridiculousness of multiple calls. It was atad farcical. The best part of the game was Silvio got some good minutes and he was stout on ths glass.
With the other scoring firepower we have i dont know that we will need moore to score that much. Should take pressure off him to just run the O and dime. So his stats may be worse than his frosh year but he will no doubt be a better player.
Far down on the list will hurt his chances π
