@truehawk93 I think TBoone tried to lure Self a few years back with a ton of money.
ISU shooting came back to earth.
@BShark Sorry
@DCHawker I'm surprised that T Boone U didn't pay more.
That is why it is hard to repeat. Things need to go your way. Some things went Nova's way last year (like the Graham call). This year they didn't....like the play on Hart.
Is that really a better job than OSU? I guess maybe because of Chicago recruiting?
Done.
Those cheerleaders look pretty solemn........hopefully they'll be looking that way around 6:15 CST on Sunday.
Keep voting!
@JayHawkFanToo I thought that the issue is how the 2 were treated by the Univeristy......they are claiming she was treated harsher than Jackson.
Keep voting. Frank is slowly closing the gap!
@jayballer54 I only watched the first half, but KSU got everything they wanted inside.
@ParisHawk I recall that his play contributed to the pounding.......not necessarily points, but blocked shots, rebounds, and overall contribution to good play...hence part of the pounding. If he doesn't play well........you never know if we would have had such a big lead.
That's what I remember.
Please vote for Frank.
Yes. It has been a fun ride. Anything less than a FF will be a disappointment.
@Blown ISU has played well. I think Purdue will be a tough matchup with the 2 big guys......I don't think ISU gets by them.
So......Is the rule that you can play someone in your conference prior to Elite 8 if you only played them twice? I thought it was once. Surprised we might play ISU in the S16. I think I would rather see the bad match up with Purdue and their 2 big guys....ISU floods KC.
Also..............MSU (and Izzo).......if they get past Miami...........tough 2nd round matchup.
@Texas-Hawk-10 I would take that. The 8/9 and 4/5 are not bad compared to some of the other options.
If Duke gets a 1 seed and we don't........that will put a damper on the whole tournament for me. I'm serious. In the past, the whole body of work throughout the season has been what mattered most. Yes, they give teams a better seed for playing well at the end of the season or in the conf. tourney, but Duke was a 4 before. I can't see them giving them a 1.......unless it is in place of NC....but then Arizona would have a beef.
I don't want Duke. They're playing well......hard to beat someone twice.
This is as close as he has been in awhile.
I hate to say it, but I think Duke is a non-one seed that I could for sure see going to the FF. I don't see WVU going to the FF. If you handle their press and don't let them get too many points from it....they sometimes have trouble scoring. Arizona seems to be playing well.
@HighEliteMajor Agreed. They are a better team than when we played them. Giles, and especially Tatum didn't play then. They are overall playing better.
@KUSTEVE I really like that bracket. II would be a little concerned about Purdue.........we would have a little problem guarding their 2 big guys......but one of their big guys would have to guard Josh as well. I like the other matchups relative to the alternatives, though.
@MoonwalkMafia Great points. But I do think it is better to win and go in on a roll vs. rest. However, we have done quite well after losing in the conf. tourney....like 2008, I believe?
I do think the rest, while it can be beneficial, might be overrated. But the players and Self would have to tell us that...........and they won't.
Yes, we would have won without Josh. But I still think we should have beaten them without him. They are, at best, a bubble team.....11 seed? And they got blown out by ISU last night.
The loss in and of itself is not concerning. What concerns me is that it demonstrated what can go wrong with the way this team plays. Not enough defense, no help for LL in the middle. No margin for error. We have done very well this year at finishing games. We did not do that against TCU. A couple of bad plays, a rimmed out shot by LL, couple of missed FTs. Fatigue probably played a part down the stretch. Also, the minutes when the bench came in and did not show well contributed to TCUs run at the end of the first half. The point is we seem to play close games against any competition. The more close games early on in the tourney the greater the chance something goes wrong. Foul trouble, a missed FT, untimely mistake, a 50/50 call that doesn't go our way. Or out of 6 games a bad 3 point shooting night. A good defensive team can overcome a poor shooting night.......not sure this team can.
That's what makes me feel uneasy going into the tournament. Seems like others share my concerns.
I love our Jayhawks, but this team makes me extremely nervous.
I don't feel any better now that TCU just got blitzed by the Clones.
For the most part we don't care......I would argue that winning the conference tournament and staying sharp while going in with momentum might be better than rest....and possibly getting rusty. Didn't we lose the conf. tournament in 08?
Most importantly.....hopefully a loss emphasizes the importance of playing defense more than the high scoring wins we had this year. Maybe a wake up call?
@Crimsonorblue22 Were those shots they hit in the last 3 minutes wide open or guarded? Bad shots on our part? Turnover? (You can see I'm struggling with not being able to watch)
Can't watch. But following the play by play on line. 16-3 run to end the half? What happened?
ISU shot well from 3.......hopefully that means tomorrow will not be as good. (And hopefully that is against us)
@drgnslayr I don't think we lose the number one seed if we lose today. The committee looks at the body of work.........historically hasn't penalized teams too much for losing in the conference tournament.
I believe that we have lost several times in the conference tournament and haven't lost our number one seed.
And I do think they would take into account that we played without Josh anyway..........I think they have made statements about players being injured, etc. in the past.
@BeddieKU23 Got it.
@KUSTEVE Don't you mean..........Wheeeee Dogggies! Plus DG would be our missing piece for next year....could really change the outlook, at least on paper, for the team.
@BeddieKU23 It could be what you say.....but it is also true that a transgression, whatever it is, is always worse if it is the 2nd time (or 3rd, etc) something has happened vs. an instance where it is the first.
He doesn't seem to be gaining much.
@Crimsonorblue22 The article showed blue uniforms. Won't we be wearing white as we will be the higher seed in just about any game we play? (Other than potentially the NC game..depending on how the final seedings play out).
I don't think the rest is that important. All the other conferences are playing also....we will be no more tired than they are.
I say...play hard and win this as well!
@jayballer54 Doesn't seem to be gaining much.
Please vote......Frank still behind by 10% pts.
Although they have been playing well, I think their senior day will be just enough of a distraction...we win in a close game.
@jaybate-1.0 Ok. Now you've got me worried about the law of averages. Thanks a lot!
@drgnslayr Darnell was my era as well. I don't think he gets enough credit when people discuss the all time KU greats. He's not as high on the points list as I would have thought.......but he was a great point guard.
Yes, Morris will be on the first team.
Although last year wasn't bad...an elite 8 and a FF team......even though they got blown out.
It doesn't appear that anything is changing day to day. The % looks the same?
@Texas-Hawk-10 You might be right about the impact on officiating. But don't forget.....there was a phantom call in the first half on one of their guys that caused him to sit for an extended period of time. I watched that play several times. But certainly Devonte, was fouled at least twice on that critical play.
@Kcmatt7 I was thinking about Purdue........If LL guards Swanigan.......who guards Haas?
Just voted. Frank's son sure is a cute little guy.
@wissox We should..........I worry about OU continuing to hit tough shots.
Back down to 4..........have to make it happen now!
