thanks @approxinfinity and @bskeet for all you're hard work. I love this site!!!!

KUBuckets Brackets on ESPN • Mar 19, 2014 01:23 PM

@VailHawk hahaha well played, well played indeed. I could never love Mizery. I grew up on the Mizery side, but my best friend in elementary had a parent who was a KU alum and took me to a bunch of games. My first KU game was Pierce's freshman year and I've been hooked ever since. And since I wasn't born in this geographical area I got to choose my allegiance and I chose correctly!!!!! :)

It's the most wonderful time of the year • Mar 18, 2014 08:40 PM

@Crimsonorblue22 very true!!! If we played on Saturday she may have become my ex fiancee, because in the battle of my Hawks and her friends wedding, we all know what would win out ha! Or either I would have been sneaking the game on my phone with one ear bud in during the ceremony.

It's the most wonderful time of the year • Mar 18, 2014 07:07 PM

@Crimsonorblue22 Idk my friend, but I was not happy about ti when my fiancee said that I couldn't miss the wedding to go to STL. Coincidentally the person having the wedding is actually a Jayhawk fan.

@Crimsonorblue22 Assuming we take care of business on Friday I will me in the Lou for Sundays game. I wanted to go both days but unfortunately I have a wedding to attend on Saturday in KC.

@VailHawk What are you going to do to the new kid on the block?

Who? • Mar 13, 2014 09:51 PM

@jaybate 1.0 "Self cannot let OSU turn this into a battle of TOs in which KU defends conservatively and OSU makes single digit TOs, while OSU attacks defensively and KU makes double digit TOs."

Talk about foreshadowing! That's exactly what happened in this game but somehow our fellas found the balls to fight through their mistakes.

Andrew and the Miracles... • Mar 12, 2014 05:05 PM

@drgnslayr I love this attitude slayr! Keep the positive vibes flowing. This is probably my favorite post all week.

@JRyman Wiggins and the Wonderfuls has a nice ring to it.

Making Up for Joel • Mar 12, 2014 04:59 PM

@drgnslayr That team was definitely stacked.

Jo, Perry Wiggs, Selden, will go in the first round. I think Tarik will get a look in the NBA. Brannen def will and could go first round if he sticks around for a few years. Big L by his senior year might evne get a couple looks from the League!

Nice stats my friend! Kirk should have won it, I could possibly be biased though.

Making Up for Joel • Mar 12, 2014 04:44 PM

I'm not saying JoJo is Emeka but this just puts me farther in the postive column!

"UConn center Emeka Okafor missed two Big East tournament games with a stress fracture of the lower back in 2004 and went on to lead the Huskies to the national championship that season, scoring 24 points in the title game. Okafor took a path similar to Embiid’s in that he received feedback from spine specialists in two different cities and, like Embiid, was projected to be drafted in the first few picks. Also, initial MRI tests taken after Okafor began to experience back pain did not show any stress fracture." -Quote from the old site

We can still get this done. We can cut downt he nets in Jerry's World

Making Up for Joel • Mar 11, 2014 10:11 PM

@DinarHawk Yes!! You have to love guys like that!. I'm gonig to put faith in this team and believe Tariks' owrds. " Lets have a magical season"

March 11: News Headlines Digest • Mar 11, 2014 07:32 PM

@JRyman I share your sentiments my friend, I said something similar in another thread. Everyone jumping ship most have forgot how little we knew about JoJo before the season began we were still being picked to go deep. Now all of the sudden we are done? Buckle up Jayhawk family because the ride to the first Monday in April is gonig to be wild but well worth it!

Have Faith • Mar 11, 2014 04:12 PM

@DinarHawk Qoute of the day! They should put that Helen Keller quote up in the locker room. Everyone has been telling them how good they are and deservedly so. Had them on the one line with 7 losses and some places still do with 8. Has anyone seen the video of Wiggs going off when those kids chanted overrated, they need someone telling them that.

Have Faith • Mar 11, 2014 04:06 PM

@drgnslayr Well said Slayr!. I turned on ESPN this morning and thier headline was Hopes of a title dashed? With a picure of Wiggs. Keep on doubting us. Build that chip up

March 11: News Headlines Digest • Mar 11, 2014 03:45 PM

@dylans We could all use a good laugh today to keep the positive spirits flowing! It's still hillarious

Have Faith • Mar 11, 2014 03:40 PM

Let's look at it like this, we were all happy and thinkning this team could go far in the tourney before the season started and that was before we knew how much improvement Jo would make. We knew he would be special eventually, but lets be realistic. Did anyone see it hapening this quickly? Probably not. Now that we don't happen a lot of people over on the other site want to jump ship. That's not what real Jayhawks do. This team can go as far as Tarik, Tharpe, and Wiggs want to take them. We know Andrew has the ability to take a game over. We just witnessed that, 96 hours ago. We witness what Tarik can do on Senior night. We saw that Tharpe can guard against UT and we saw he can close a game out against OU two nights later. This team can still win. If we get Jo back, fine that's all well and good but we can still make a deep run without him. This team needs to find that inner will or testicular fortitude if you will. They have to. There is no other option.

Making Up for Joel • Mar 11, 2014 03:30 PM

@DinarHawk I would sacrifice a little of our pure talent for some of the Shockers heart and play angry attitude. It's times like these that i sorely miss Sheron.

Making Up for Joel • Mar 11, 2014 03:22 PM

I think the team gets up for the challenege. Wiggins was up for the challenge on Saturday when apparently he was the only one who bothered to get off the plane. But I think this may have beent he spark they needed to fuel thier fire. They weren't worried about WVU because Jo was supposed to be back this week, now they have to learn to play with out him until at least the sweet 16. Wiggs is ready to put this team on his back. Tarik needs to do the same. Tharpe needs to stop letting himself get into his own head. This teams needs to play pissed off and mow everyone down and show that they are talented enough to get through these next 5 games without the big fella. I hate that Jo went dwn but this team needed to see that they can't always count on him to protect the rim. They have to find a way to keep thier man in front of them and play some darn defense!

FLOOR BURN AWARD: KU vs TT - March 5 • Mar 06, 2014 06:35 PM

@JRyman I can't wait for Mari's senior season. You can tell from how well they play together on the court that they really have a bond off of it. I'm sure he has been a psonge this season and same goes for Landen. Look at how gritty and tough Lucas plays when he gets his oppotunities. Even though Tarik is gone in just a few short weeks. His impact will be felt for at least the next 2-3 years with those two. Optimistically speaking we still have him for another 10 games!

March 6: News Headlines Digest • Mar 06, 2014 06:30 PM

@JRyman I agree, those things were atrocious. KU has a classic uniform leave all that crazy stuff for teams like Oregon. Thoguh the alternates we have been wearing this year are awesome. But then again they are a throwback.

March 6: News Headlines Digest • Mar 06, 2014 06:17 PM

@JRyman what???? no love for the Zubaz?

FLOOR BURN AWARD: KU vs TT - March 5 • Mar 06, 2014 06:13 PM

@drgnslayr his attitude has been so positive and it's awesome to see that. I couldn't fathom what this team would be without him. These guys have grown up a lot since they arrived on campus and as great as HCBS is, I can't help but to think that Tarik had a lot to do with that as well. How many players do you know who would coem to a new program slated as a starter and teach the young incoming big kid to take his spot and not only do it, but do it well and with pride!

Senior Day Pre and Post game ceremonies • Mar 06, 2014 06:05 PM

@JayHawkFanToo It's really to bad we don't have an a la carte option for TV. I don't like forking over money to the cable company when I won't even watch 90% of the channels. I pretty much watch ESPN, TNT, and USA. It would be nice if we could jsut pay for the channels we wanted and when you entered in to an agreement like that for ESPN they agree to not black you out regardless of local competition or either offer you the stream of the local broadcast as part of your fee for service.

March 6: News Headlines Digest • Mar 06, 2014 04:26 PM

I'm stoked for Tarik. He had such an awesome game last night and carried himself very well in an off the cuff speech last night. He'll always be a Jayhawk, I just wish we could have had him on the court and in the locker for more than one year. Does anybody in America deserve a ring more than that kid?

"Lets have a magic season"-Tarik Black

Welcome to the OAD Merry Go Round • Mar 06, 2014 03:51 PM

@nuleafjhawk Glad to know i'm not the only one that cries like a little girl on Senior Night, I was at the Fieldhouse last year and It was probably one of the most special Senior Night's to me because we had so many guys who had been around for so long. It's awesome to get to watch these guys grow and change and get to know them. In a situation like Bens I get leaving early because his family needed the money. I don't know about Seldens' family but I'm pretty sure Wiggs and Embiid would be just fine in college another year or two.

Senior Day Pre and Post game ceremonies • Mar 06, 2014 03:39 PM

@JayHawkFanToo Stupid and misguided indeed. Not everybody has access to TWC and some people don't want to do business with TWC. Of course they will be Comcast very soon, so that may all be moot.

February 28: News Headlines Digest • Mar 05, 2014 11:17 PM

@nuleafjhawk Well I guess they have that to hang their hat on. I'm glad us Hawk fans have other things to hang ours on. I have a lot of hats, and I may start running out of them as I have to keep hanging them on all these things we have! I almost feel bad for OSU's fan base.......almost.

I want to cry! • Mar 05, 2014 10:53 PM

@bskeet "I hope we are reminiscing about title #6 and wondering how Cliff and JoJo will work out together"

I like where your head is at my friend. When we hang #6 it will help keep my mind off of how woefully dreadful the Phillies will be this season.

Senior Day Pre and Post game ceremonies • Mar 05, 2014 10:48 PM

@oldalum Justin.tv is normally pretty good about having the games. The stream quality isn't always the best though. They should just get rid of the blackout since the Fieldhouse has sold out for what, 200+games?

March 4: News Headlines Digest • Mar 05, 2014 10:39 PM

@Crimsonorblue22 Would a double decker do??

February 28: News Headlines Digest • Mar 05, 2014 10:38 PM

@drgnslayr Do they even have a trophy cabinet built down there?

March 4: News Headlines Digest • Mar 05, 2014 10:32 PM

@drgnslayr I would be happy to join you on the trip to Stillwater to accomplish that task!

February 28: News Headlines Digest • Mar 05, 2014 09:35 PM

@drgnslayr absolutely right! This team can do anything they focus on and pput thier minds to. We all saw it when we played UT the second time around. I know it's hard to get up like that every night but if they can get blazing hot and play at a high enery level consistenly for once, we will cut down those nets!(and then mail them to Marcus Smart) I kid!

Senior Day Pre and Post game ceremonies • Mar 05, 2014 09:24 PM

@JayHawkFanToo Also I use a comcast login which has a huge presence on the east coast so that's probably why I was able to get away with it.

Senior Day Pre and Post game ceremonies • Mar 05, 2014 09:23 PM

@JayHawkFanToo That makes sense! I wish they would do away with all this blackout nonsense. It's not like AFH is hurting to sell seats unlike some football or baseball stadiums that get blacked out. They could put another 10,000 seats at AFH and it would still sell out.

Senior Day Pre and Post game ceremonies • Mar 05, 2014 09:00 PM

@JayHawkFanToo So people with Surewest can't use ESPN3 if they are outside of the state travelling? The program I use changes your IP address to make it look ike it's broadcasting from somewhere else in the country.

Senior Day Pre and Post game ceremonies • Mar 05, 2014 08:32 PM

@JayHawkFanToo If it is on ESPN3, there is a way to get around it being blacked out in the state of Kansas. As soon as I get home from work i'll follow up on this post and tell you the program to use to skirt that little issue. It's the only way I was able to watch the 6 games that were on TWCSN

February 28: News Headlines Digest • Mar 05, 2014 08:13 PM

@drgnslayr Lets hope we gear up for a run of domination and make everyone cower when they see they have to play us in the tourney!

February 28: News Headlines Digest • Feb 28, 2014 10:07 PM

@Crimsonorblue22 I actually hadn't paid attention to the fact that he said that but you are correct, I just like the word though! I spend all day going through repetitive scripts, gotta stretch my vocab somehow during the day.

@nuleafjhawk Anything i can do to contribute to the board my friend!

February 28: News Headlines Digest • Feb 28, 2014 06:27 PM

@icthawkfan316 "And next time someone asks you how many players KU is recruiting in the Bahamas, you answer "all of them". Because when Self walks into a recruit's home and says, "well, if you come to KU we play in places like the Bahamas, Maui, Vegas, etc.", you can bet that's an incentive."

I think you nailed this one right on the head! Yes, AFH is the greatest building on Earth we all know that but come on what's more exciting than getting a free trip to the Bahamas or Hawaii. Not all of these kids will make it to the NBA and take trips like that so why not do it on someone elses dime and get to do something you love while you're out there? Playing WSU in Wichita does not accomplish that.

February 28: News Headlines Digest • Feb 28, 2014 06:22 PM

I meanw hat else did they really expect coach to say about WSU regarding a one-seed? No they don't desrve it because they don't play anyone? He has way to much class for that. And he is right that we don't need to play them unless they want to play just at AFH and the Sprint Center. It doesn't behoove us to play in Wichita when we already have a firm recruting footing in the state.

@jaybate 1.0 "Offense starts with defense.

A year without lock down defense is a like a year without sex.

Of course it can be endured, but who would want to, if they could avoid it?"

Well said sir!

@drgnslayr Thanks for the compliment! I'm a long time reader but haven't been posting for long. I can only help to catch up with the brilliance and insight posted on this site.

The Texas game blew me a way and showed me that when these guys realzie their potential there is no one in CBB that could stop them. The Texas game @ AFH was our best BPI performance of the season and coincendtally the game @ Austin was our worst BPI performance. I, like you am skeptical that they can maintain that motivation throughout the rest of the season and the BIG12 tourney. I think it might actually do the fellas some good to lose in the BIG12 tourney and build back up a head of steam to go into the big dance with a chip on their shoulders. In order to be effective we have to have a Naadir Tharpe that's fully focused and engaged like he was against Texas. That was his best defensive game. If he cou;ld put together a defensive effort like he did against Texas and a will kill close out mentality like he did against OU in the final ten mins we will be unstoppable. He made some boneheaded mistakes at the end of the Tech game last week and we can't have thos ein the tournament.

I think Tarik "Black Death" will have these guys ready to play. He's only been here a year but he has the respect of that locker room and everything I read about him says he's a great leader. I think his best is yet to come and that's after seeing him own Ridley on Saturday. Our guys seem to play big in the biggest moments and while they have been inconsistent and that is my deepest fear of this team, when the chips are down I think they will shine. If someone is hot they need to just keep feeding that person and whoever is hot needs to own it and keep going. I loved seeing the fire from Wayne when he got in Conner's face for not taking an open 3. These guys need to trust themselves and thier abilities.

Regarding WSU I think we would win that game. HCBS has mentioned time and time again how prideful these guys are. Look at what they ddi to Texas after losing to them. These guys are most new and when we thumped KSU @ home they were all talking about what it meant to beat them and how this was "our" state. They won't let WSU have bragging rights and if we get KSU in the BIG12 tourney they are in for amud stomping for which i''ll be in attendance. I don't think HCBS will og 0-3 agaisnt the MVC, but you're right if he did it would def be in a lot of peoples heads. Lets hope that nightmare doesn't coem to fruition though. I like your dream mode a lot better!

Rock Chalk!

"Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be?"-Marianne Williamson

My fear is that our guys know how athletic and dominating they can be but don't always realize that in the games. We need to show that we are the big dogs in every game. I think our guys sometimes shy away from that will kill mentality although they have been better lately. My deepest fear is that this is quite possibly the most talented team ever assembled at KU and that we may leave something on the table. I think early in the season Wiggins exemplified the last line of that quote perfectly. He seemed to defer to much wanting to be the ultimate teamate. Lately he's been more agressive and I love that. If allt hese guys realize their full potential consistently they will be cutting down the nets in Jerry's world. (that stadium is awesome by the way)

Myles Turner to Visit KU • Feb 27, 2014 03:52 PM

@konkeyDong "I really think we're in better shape to win it all next year rather than this year. I hope I'm wrong, though (or that we just win back to back)."

Lets go with your latter thought on that. I like the idea of repeating.

Myles Turner to Visit KU • Feb 26, 2014 09:43 PM

@JayHawkFanToo
Any chance you think we could convince Jo and Wiggins to come back? That's a pipe dream I know. I think Perry will stay as well and he should. I was just looking at it from a worst case stand point that he would decide to cash in with his name getting more recognition as a NCAA Tournament Champion. His game is quite perplexing at times. I've seen him get stuffed by shorter players that he should be bowling over. During the OU game , I cant remember at what point but he was in the lane and tried to lay it up and missed it when he should have jsut gone for the dunk and the foul because his man was moving. Bill self can teach these guys everthing but they have to learn to use it. I guarentee he tells them to be agressive but if it's not in that players mind set then it won't happen. For him to play the 3 he needs better handles, because right now that is a weak point for him.

Regarding Selden I think he should stay and become a top 5 pick next year. If we do lose Embiid in addition to Wiggins, then it's the Wayne Selden Show next year. And it hink he has an agressive enoguh mentality to shoulder that load. Yes we will have a senior Tharpe and a Junior Perry but as stated before Perry is not agressive enough to make it his team and Naa's job is to make everyone better.

For Embiid it's kind of a coin flip on one hand he should probably cash in and becoem the number one pick with Wiggs right behind him on the other hand he could use another year with Hudy to build his body up more. Either way it's a good decision for him, but obviousily it's better for us if he comes back.

Myles Turner to Visit KU • Feb 26, 2014 08:40 PM

@konkeyDong Better to be overprepared than under prepared right? We don't want to end up losing in recruting like we did a couple seasons ago. I think if we win the national title we could lose more than expected. Selden and Perry could cash in on top of Wiggins and Embiid. I would love to see all of them back but being realistic we know for sure Wiggs is gone at the very least. So if I was Self I would def overprepare. Numbers will always work themselves out. That being said I would prefer a second year Jo-Jo over a Frosh Turner.

February 26: News Headlines Digest • Feb 26, 2014 08:36 PM

@JayHawkFanToo I'm somewhat suprised that it hasn't happened already. I mean the NCAA has had almost two season to investigate him for 2012's win. Every program he touches he burns
