Agree. A back court of Devonte Trae, Malik and Lagerald with Garret on stand by is a dang good foundation to continue the 4-1 scheme.
It is not about scholarships or roster spots; there are only so many players KU can take...even if it only offers 13 schoolies. All the walk-on players that I can think of were better than James Fraschilla who in 4 years played a combined 41 minutes and scored a grand total of 8 points, 13 minutes and 0 points in his senior year and only 6 of them in 3 conference in blow out games....Tucker Vang has played just about as many minutes so far in his freshman year.
I get what you are saying but I am sure KU has turned down a lot more talented players than James Fraschilla. I am not saying that he is not a good kid or a hard worker; however, not everybody can make it academically to Harvard or play for KU basketball.
If you don't want hyperbole, then this forum might not be the best place for you... or me...
Many reasons why attendance is down including the availability of games on TV but more importantly its is economics. While the last few years have seen no growth or actually a loss in the income of most Americans, the cost of attending live games has become close to prohibitive. Forbes magazine has been tracking cost for many years and for football uses the following criteria:
"The prices of four (4) average-price tickets, two (2) small draft beers, four (4) small soft drinks, four (4) regular-size hot dogs, parking for one (1) car, two (2) game programs and two (2) least-expensive, adult-size adjustable caps."
Back in 2014 the Cardinals have the 21st most expensive experience and it was $414, and since then cost has gone up which means in the more expensive markets, the cost now is around $500. The cost is so high that all sports have seen a reduction in attendance and even the Yankees and Red Sox have seen drops in attendance and are selling tickets at half price via Groupon.
Also, the numerous on and off court issues of players have turned a lot of fans off. Things like the Kaeppernick fiasco have made fans refuse to support prima donas that make a whole lot of money and don't even seem to have any respect for the fans that pay their salaries. Jerry Jones, the Dallas Cowboys owner, made it clear to the players that that type of behavior affects the bottom line and anyone participation in what he called "his stage" would be gone....most Americans can identify with this since no one else can get away with this behavior at his or her place of work and on company's time.
Maybe we are still not giving Perry enough credit for the influence he had on the team. His quiet leadership and work ethic were inspiring.
I agree, that is beyond moronic...
Sometimes I am sarcasm impaired in this board...
Correction, as far as I can tell Coach Beard took Little Rock to the Second Round (of 32) where it lost to Iowa State, and not the Sweet 16.
I still think his kid wanted to walk on at KU and was rebuffed and ever since Fran has had it for KU. He used to be a decent and fair analyst...no more.
I work with computers for a living and have access to at least 20-30 technical publication every week that have studied this and other related issues in great detail and thus I have a lot more information than the average person.
Do you know the FBI contacted the DNC very early on and told them that their server was likely compromised and the contract worker in charge of the system at first did not even believe the call was from the FBI. After a number of additional calls, it took the DNC well over 3 months after it was first notified to finally do something about security. Do you know that to this day the FBI has not been granted access to the servers and the tentative conclusion they reached are based on information collected by third party techs. hired and paid for by the DNC? Hard to believe, isn't it?
Do you know that Podesta's e-mail was hacked by a simply phishing attack? That is when you get an e-mail telling you there is a problem with your account and you need to login to a site on the e-mail and provide your id and password, not different than the Nigerian Minister than wants to give you $5M. The released e-mails show that Podesta did repliy to the fake e-mail and provided his id and password that happened to be "password" hard to believe, isn't it? No one has claimed that any of the e-mails are fake. Democrats are upset because they were embarrassing and showed a concerted effort to hack the Democratic primaries in favor of Hillary, among other thins...that was the closest to hacking the elections we have had. A former British Ambassador is on record indicating that he personally traveled to the US and got a drive from DNC insider with the e-mails, many think the insider is the individual that was found shot dead in the street in Washington DC for no apparent reason and robbery was ruled out. since nothing was missing.
Election machines cannot be hacked via the internet since they are not physically connected to it. Some are manufactured by companies with ties to George Soros...it makes you go...what?
The individual in charge of managing Hillary's server was so incompetent that he was asking on Redit how to manage the server and how to permanently delete e-mails. When the news of the home server first came out, I was at meeting of IT professionals and everybody laughed and concurred that likely the Russians, Iranians, Koreans, Israelis, Indians, most Eastern block countries an even our own allies spying agencies along with anyone with a basic hacking ability likely had copies of the e-mails...the system was just that laughable. Do you know that the Department of State was hacked over two years ago and Kerry himself indicated he is not sure how secure the system is and now it has finally requested $300M to revamp the system? Interesting that the administration did not do anything for years about it other than Obama telling Putin to "cut it out"...his own words. On a more serious note, if you or I had done what she did with classified information, we would certainly be in jail; a lot of people have gone to jail for a lot less than that. OTOH, I understand that Hillary might run for mayor of New York City...
This is not really the forum for it but I would be happy to provide you additional information since the MSM ignores most of it.
I think the elections are over and regardless of how many times they try to stop it, Trump will be sworn in as the next president in a couple of weeks. For the record, I was not a Trump supporter but I believe that we should move on and work together for the good of the country, regardless of personal; ideologies.
Back to KU basketball...
I agree. Wiggins was very unselfish, maybe too unselfish and many times passed on shots and deferred to teammates that had better shots. Had he taken more of those shots you would have people calling him selfish and a ball hog. Josh is more of an alpha dog and will take those shot more often than Wiggins did, both approaches have pluses and minuses but regardless, many people will never be pleased and find fault with both. I try to enjoy the games and leave the coaching to Coach Self and don't try to second guess what he does; he has shown that he knows what he is doing.
I read the news constantly and the ongoing theme is that the Russians are blamed for everything...it was just a joke.
FYI, there is ZERO, nada, zilch, zip evidence the Russians hacked the elections. Podesta's e-mail was hacked by phishing...this is what happens when your e-mail password is literally..."password." Would you like me to send you some links?
You have to go to www.kubuckets-women.com for that
Hillary called...she says the Russians hacked the football attendance figures so soccer can become king...
What am I missing? Most places I have looked still have Trae Young going to OU...
I agree. Only a homer with little basketball knowledge would say they are not.
Did Svi traveled? Yes, but most of the time that is just not called at the end of the game.
Now, I just don't see what you are calling a charge...Svi is airborne before the defensive player jumps and by rule the offensive players has to be given the space and thus it is not a charge but a blocking foul; during the game that would have been an "and one" play. Last, you failed to mention where the KSU players swipes Svi in the arm as soon as he gets past mid court, that could have been also called a foul.
So when looking a the the entire sequence in contest, KU got away with one travel and KSU got away with 2 uncalled fouls. I would say a wash.
That is an excellent point. I would like to think the coaching staff prepares the team for the competition at hand and if they did their job and scouted KSU they would have seen it is a pretty good team. Unlike a lot of members in this forum, I have actually watched several of KSU games and posted early in the season that KSU was indeed a good team playing cohesively early in the season, something few teams do. Even after the game, if you read all the posts, many still put down KSU calling them bottom feeders and an inferior team. In my opinion, KSU is a pretty good team and definitely a top half in the conference; this by no means makes me a KSU fan but a realist and the last game would indicate I was correct in my assessment.
One logical explanation is that despite other posters (who may or may not have watch them play) calling them a bottom of the conference team, they are indeed a very good team. I have watched several of their games and I have posted here before that they were in "middle of the conference" shape at the beginning of the season, when most teams are just learning to play together. KU under estimated KSU and got bit in the arse.
Perhaps I did not explain myself well. My point was that contrarily to some poster's assertion that he is injured, he appears to be physically fit, that's all.
First, sitting on a chair at half court you probably don't hit the free throw line...a lot harder than it seems and a trick shot that late and great Pete Maravich would do from the paint while playing donkey and most other players could not
Look at this video of the the 3 point shot at halftime...nothing wrong with him... ↗
Some of us predicted Allen would get no more than one game suspension when a 3-5 game was warranted...I guess we were right.
Have you seen the warm up videos? He is hitting from half court...hard to do if you are injured.
I don't recall Coach Self bitching about the travel at the West Virginia game...I guess Weber wants to justify the royalties he paid to use Mickey Mouse voice...
I would not worry. All of the computerized rankings, including the one used by the NCAA give more weight to recent games. By the end of the season the Indiana game will not matter that much...if at all.
I understand mixing it for a while to confuse the other team but without Lucas, KU probably would not have won.
...and the obvious question is...maintain control of what? There were no fights or exchanges that I saw that would warrant this, unless of course you consider Jackson mouthing off to the ref making the game be out of control. I used to like Fran but now he is just another big mouth trying to fill empty time with non-sense. Sometimes it is better for an announcer to let the game do the talking and not try to become the story.
Don't feed the troll or argue with the moron, he will get you in the gutter and beat you with experience....
Can you show me a reputable publication...any reputable publication that indicates a conference other than the Big 12 is the top ranked? The conference is and has been consistently a top 2 conference the last few years. Keep in mind that conference rankings include all the teams and not only the better ones. The SEC has Kentucky and Florida and not much more, the ACC has 5 or 6 good teams but the bottom is pretty pitiful, same with the Big East.
I find it interesting that there seems to be "universal" agreement that Svi traveled and that KSU should have won...WHAT?
First, that type of travel happens all the time and half the time is not even called; it is a big deal because it happened to KU.
Second, if that happens in the middle of the game, it is probably not called and Svi also goes to the line for a free throw since it was an obvious block; anyone saying it was also a charge is an idiot.
Third, how in the world can anyone can say the KSU should have won? Worst case it goes to overtime but there is absolute zero logic to indicate KSU should have won.
Fourth, all the morons commenting on the call obviously saw a replay of the call with Fran's comments and did not see the entire game when KU was a the wrong end of the majority of really bad calls; without the help of the refs this is not even a close game...DJ alone was constantly fouling our guys and not getting called and as soon as a KSU player was touched there went the foul call. I know I am not alone in this; if you read the game thread, that seemed to be the area in which we all agreed..
Josh also had 22 points, 9 rebounds, 6 assists, 1 block and one of Ku's 2 steals and single handedly carried the team the first half and a good portion if the second half. Keep in mind that he is a freshman playing only his second conference game and still learning. Without him KU loses big.

Great. Its an absolutely crappy conference this season. You're not risking much.
Are you on drugs? The Big 12 is ranked the #1 conference, 3 of its teams are ranked in the top 5 by most rankings and one of those lost today, 8 out of 10 teams are ranked in the top 36 and the bottom 2 are in the top 70. You can call the Big 12 many names but crappy is not one of them. From top to bottom the Big 12 is the strongest conference in college bball.
Amen brother. Enjoy the win this evening and worry tomorrow...
OK...so it wasn't the prettiest game but the good guys won. Let's enjoy the win and quit ragging on the players, at least for the evening...
Dude is a flopper...
Tech. And WVU in OT...
How is that working out for them? The Court has ruled mostly against what the Catholic Church supports.
I told you guys KSU was good...
Euro step...
Holly S*it...
Hey...they finally got one right...
Drive on Iwundu, he will not foul and you get a free path to the hoop.
Iwundu with 4 fouls...drive at him and draw the foul or get a freebie.
Bilas sissified bball at its best...
Tricky tack calls are ruining the game....
Getting jobbed by the refs sucks, getting jobbed at home blows...
Game of spurts...
