If he does, he would run out of gas by the time Conference play starts...at 270 he is on the heavy side for a 6’-6”Player.
Why would Mitch want to red shirt? Many of you are assuming that if he does he would stay a 5th year which is possible but maybe not likely. I have not heard Mitch indicate a desire to play pro ball; perhaps he thinks about it like most Division I athletes do but the smart ones are aware of the long odds and their own limitation and they just want to get a degree with a full ride and without getting in debt. Student athletes that plan to play pro ball typically do not study engineering. Perhaps Mitch will develop into a NBA prospect but at this time I just see him as developing into a very good college player only. My guess is he will play 4 years, get his degree and move on.
Probably. He really fell out of favor with Coach K; he would have started just about everywhere else.
May the best team win, hopefully without any more controversy.
Duke is going to be talented but young and inexperienced, not exactly the foundation for a championship team.
Bovada relesed the odds for the next championship ↗. Hint, best odds are not KU or Nova...
On another KU note, Josh Jackson gets a haircut...

By now there are no undeclared or transfer players left worth a scholarship and KU has one available. Given the potential upside, Coach Self might take him conditionally subject to re-evaluation and zero tolerance.

@BeddieKU23 Lightfoot said he was 225 when he left campus for summer so he's in the 240 range now.
I reread the article and it says...
What a difference two months can make.
“I weighed in before I left home at 225,” Lightfoot said. “That wasn’t on coach [Andrea] Hudy’s scale. We’ve got to see on her scale.”
No confirmation needed: That 225 is legitimate. And it wouldn’t be shocking if it were more.
Lightfoot, who said he weighed in at 209 at the end of the basketball season, now boasts a significantly larger chest and arms. He went back home to Arizona for a couple weeks, spending much of that time in the gym — to avoid the heat, he joked.
...so, he was at 209 not 225 and he is now at 225 not 240.
You make good and valid points; however, he had a good to very good first half of the season before his off-court issues distracted him resulting in a sub-optimal stretch.
Having said that, it is hard to think that...the player that had the third most minutes of play, only Devonte and Svi had more, averaged over 12 ppg for the team that made the Final Four and would be the projected best shooter from 3...is a bad thing.
Having seen how hard is out in the real world, I would think he would now have a better appreciation of what the extra year can do for him, i.e. making a nice living playing pro ball or becoming another promising player that did not make it, so it is not inconceivable that he might yet see him play his best ball.
Having a 33+ mpg, .373 3 point shooter from a Final Four team return can’t be bad.
Happy Birthday.🎂🍾
What a difference a year makes. KU will go from having a super thin front line to having arguably the biggest and deepest front line. Sound like Mitch will have the body he needs to play the 4; he could be next year’s surprise.
Interesting, most of us have the opposite problem, gaining weight is not a problem, loosing weight on the other hand is.
Yes and no, he did not complain to the refs but often made the face of disbelief that many consider whining. While it is true that a lot of the great ones complain a lot there are also many that do not or did not. I started following basketball in the very early 70s and in all this time I have seen my share of whiners and LeBron might not the biggest of all time but, among current players, he is up there near the top with Dwight Howard and Chris Paul.

@BShark Can you name one three point shooter that you expect to be above 37% ... that's my quandary. I can't.
Mitch certainly will be over that.
The younger generation has no concept of what good music is because they are inundated with hip hop/rap type of music that most older people and most real musicians don't even consider music and believe it is damaging to society like the great Wynton Marsalis indicated a couple of weeks ago ↗.
This picture clearly show the difference on how people of different generation see music...
I am not sure how much NBA you watch, since I have the NBA TV package,I watch quite a bit so I am fairly familiar withe the players and attitudes. LeBron complains every single time a foul is called on him and every time he thinks he has been fouled and a foul is not called; some players are just built that way. In the current NBA LeBron is in my opinion the biggest whiner of them all; it does not mean he is not good, he is without a doubt the best player in the League and one would think that with all that talent he would just play and quit complaining...you seldom saw Duncan or other great player complain much.
I have no doubt that a lot of dislike of him derives from his "i am perfect and I don't foul and when I turn the ball over is because I was fouled" attitude. He is not alone in this regard and many of the big names are/were this way even when they get a favorable whistle the majority of the time, Jordan certainly did. See if you can find the video of an interview with Jordan where he details all the tricks he used to get calls like grabbing the shirt of the player guarding him and pulled against him and a foul would be called against the othre player every time and s on.
You know they only called 2 fouls on LeBron the entire game including that reversed call so he really had no reason to complain at all. Not many fouls called, 12 on the Cavaliers starters and 15 on the Warriors.
Refs can review the position of the feet to determine if a 2 or a 3 was scored or if the player was out of bounds. The block/charge call is not reviewable...unless the refs are reviewing the position of the feet and only then they can also check if the defender was in position.
What we see on TV is obviously different than what the refs see and sometimes the have a much better view than we do and sometimes their view is blocked by other players and need a replay so they make an initial call knowing they will be reviewing it unless the other refs confirm it was the correct call; this is why they have a meeting and decide if a replay is needed; this is only allowed on the last 2 minutes of the game and OT. The process was created to minimize a bad call deciding a close game at the very end; naturally the rule is not perfect but helps/hurts teams equally. On the replay it was pretty obvious LeBronwas outside the circle but, unfortunately fir him, it was also obvious he was not set in position to take the charge so the block was called. Under the current rules reversing the original callwas the correct call.
Kentucky #10? Double ouch...
At this time he is better than anyone left. Good Vick can be very good...remember that not that long ago we thought next season’s team could be his team?
Imagine how we feel...
Doke is still a below average rebounder and not nearly as good a rim protector as he could be, a result no doubt of his low (but improved) basketball IQ including his lack of positional awareness that makes him be at the wrong place more often than it should. There is little doubt that he will be much better in all these areas with an extra year and will be a much improved defender to go with his scoring skill at or near the basket.
Except for the one ref analyst that said it could have gone either way, before all the replays were available, every other analyst I saw or read indicated that reversing was the right call...except for a Stephen A. Smith that claims superstars should not get fouls called on them. The replays clearly show James not only moving on the path of Durant but even bumping his own teammate...but I am sure you don’t agree because you believe we should all like LeBron and bow to him just because he is such a great player.
I am with @Crimsonorblue22, I have KSU at #2, WVU at #3, ISU at #4 and after that it gets blurry. Tech. is a big unknown, they have several players that could make them a top half team or drop them towards the bottom. Texas will be playing to save Smart’s job; if my friends in Texas are right, a bottom half finish places him in serious jeopardy and a bottom 3 finish and almost certainly he is gone, particularly when Barnes is doing so well at Tennessee and is projected top 10 pre-season. Texas has plenty of talent so anything is possible but then, he had talent the previous years and did not do that well; a poor showing this time around would fall solely on Smart.
I agree with what you said. The Warriors were a fun team to root for but now that all the egos have gotten out of control it has become harder. Green is a clown and a stereotype of what I hate about sports, Durant has gotten caught in the frenzy and not longer what he used to be, Curry’s smugness rubs me the wrong way and Kerr has managed to interject politics into almost everything he say. Klay Thompson seems to be the class act of that team. On the Cavalier side I like Love who seems to work hard despite his bouts of depression, a condition that can be devastating. LeBron, despite his greatness still complains about every call and still is the biggest whiner in the League even when he is at the favorable end of most calls. Tristan Thompson is the latest casualty in the long line of athletes that got involved with the Kardashians and the poor bastard does not realize he is on his way down now. Most of the players in these two team make Marcus Smart seem like a likeable player.
I wanted a Rockets-Celtics final but that is not what we have. Frankly, I don’t know what team I want to win.
According to Stephen A. Smith ↗ the rules should be changed so great players cannot have call go against them as it went against LeBron, even when replays clearly shows he was not set and moved into Durant’s path. SMH.
Here is a summary ↗ of what a NBA Assistant Coach though about Doke's needed improvements
I believe his guardian was paid to steer Silvio to Maryland but he stuck with what he wanted and came to KU, I would think it shows good character.
Smart’s record in the Big 12 is a putrid 23-31 and all 3 years he had top 3 talent. Next season he will have his own hand picked team and anothet bottom half finish will likely result in his seat getting real hot and a bottom 2 or 3 finish might cost him his job.
Just about 4 months to late night...
Jontay has lots of potential. He is tall, can rebound and can shoot from outside which makes him a stretch forward that the NBA seems to like nowadays...and he is still pretty young. I would think he would be selected in the first round based on potential alone but, with a good year at MU, he could definitely go lottery next year.
That is 1,000 pounds of pure muscle between the four...:muscle_tone4:
The only question now is if there will be any issues with Silvio. I think it is 80%-90% that he will be eligible and play; I would be surprised if he does not play. The way our judicial system works Silvio will be long gone before the FBI indictment makes it to trial.
Not surprised if he stays. I would have been surprised if he stayed in the draft where he most likely would not have been selected and had to settle for the G League or overseas.
Last year Svi waited until 10 minutes or so from the deadline...just sayin’
Impressed some people does not impress me, pardon the pun. To me it means some people think he is is a big athletic player that might be eventually ready to play at the next level but not necessarily ready to be drafted quite yet. Best scenario for Doke is a two way contract for the G League in which case he might be better off returning to KU which I believe is what will happen; I would be surprised if he stays in the draft.
Sounds like you read recaps of the game and did not watch the actual game. Magic played all positions during the game including center ↗ and was matched with Caldwell Jones (6’-11”, 215) who was also listed as Center for the Sixers. Many consider his performance the best ever of any player in a final. He continued playing multiple position throughout his career long before LeBron which was the jest of my original post.
Again, you are taking everybody’s words out of context. I never said, nor I remember anyone else saying that LeBron is not good or even great; he is at this time without question the best player in the League with maybe Durant being close. However, this does not mean that he must be universally liked; in my opinion, he is an arrogant whiner that has thrown teammates and coaches under the bus and gets preferential treatment from the refs like most of the great players do, Jordan certainly did.
There are lots of players that are great and I don’t care for and others that are not nearly as good that I like...what’s wrong with that?
Most of the stuff I do is very small quantities for custom builds. 3-d works well for what I need since no high strength parts or mission critical components are involved; at time I have even used balsa foam with epoxy or acrylic finish for filler parts...very easy to work. At this time and with the non-commercial printers readily available, even a simple bezel for an iPad takes hours to print and it cannot yet compete with other technologies, such as injection molding, for production type runs. I do have a local source for injection molding.

@JayHawkFanToo Marcus Morris, who looked like he was trying to get a piggy back ride. And Lebron gets fouled far more than he fouls.
You are kidding, right? LeBron does not get called for most of the fouls he commits and when they call a foul he is always complaining to the refs; he lowers his shoulder and pushes into the defender and that is the definition of a charge. He is without a doubt one of the bigger if not the biggest whiner in the League.
Lebron led the revolution to positionless basketball because he is all of the positions.
Sorry but that revolution was started by Magic who normally played PG and every other position and in the series against the Celtic he played Center when Kareem was injured. LeBron might be the stronger player but Magic could do it all...and very well as well.
So, you don’t think he will be drafted?
No, my numbers are correct. Final season at WSU for junior Shamet, senior Baker and sophomore VanVlett.
- Shamet - 14.9 ppg, 5.2 app, 3.2 rpg, .560 from 2 and .442 from 3
- VanVleet - 12.2 ppg, 5.5 apg, 3.2 rpg, .396 from 2 and .381 from 3
- Baker - 14.0 ppg, 3.2 apg, 4.8 rpg, .424 from 2 and .350 from 3
As I posted, the numbers for Shamet for his last season at WSU are better than those of Baker and VanVleet in their last seasons at WSU.
I print adjustable camera holders, iPad holders and bezels for use in photo booth setups. The cost of having a machine shop would be very high for even large runs and prohibitive for small runs or one of a kind prototypes. There are on line places where you can put the part specs and you will get quotes from people with 3-d printers in your area. Last time I tried that I needed 6 inch diameter , 1/2 inch thick speaker spacer rings for a custom car installation and the quotes were around $30-$40 each and I ended up buying off the shelf plastic spacers for less than $25 for all 4 and with very minor modification worked just fine. The cost of the filament is not that bad but it takes a long time (hours) to print even small objects.
Now, if I needed high strength metallic components, a 3-d printer will not do and a machine shop is needed. 3-d printers are best used for one of a kind prototypes and not production runs. The price has come down quite a bit and capabilities increased but 3-d printers are nowhere near where some people think they are.
In the last 20 years I have given gifts up to the limit on at least 4 occasions that I remember and every time, as directed by both accountants, I provided a letter to the recipient that the money was a gift which the recipient used for tax purposes. Since the gifts were by design at or just below the limit there was no tax liability anyway.
Are you asking about Marcus Smart or Marcus Morris? I simply indicated Marcus Morris had a good series and did not say LeBron is not a good player. All players commit fouls and they are called for it and some, like LeBron and Jordan, get away with a lot more than the average NBA player.
Now, have you watched the entire series? Did you see how many ticky tack fouls were called on Marcus Morris? Did you see when he hit the 3 in game 6 and Love ran into him and they called the foul on Marcus and voided the 3? Had it been LeBron instead he would have gotten the foul and a flagrant called on the other player. Do you not think LeBron gets away with a heck of a lot more physical contact than most every other player in the League? If you don’t I have a nice waterfront property in Florida I can sell you.
SMH. Have you actually seen anything printed by a 3-d printer? It might have same shape of the original but they are nothing alike; a composite nut printed by a 3-d printer and a steel nut might have the same shape but will never look alike or have the same mechanical properties and you will never confuse one for the other. If you want an identical nut you have to use a CNC machine and you would be paying at least 50-100 times more to the machine shop than you would pay for the same thing at the hardware store. The same steel nut that you pay 50 cents at the hardware store would cost you 20 times more using a 3-d printer and would not have the strength of the steel nut...not even close.
I have not seen any player since Jordan that gets away with as much as Lebron does; he
gets his shoulder down and plows over players and no fouls are called. Rozier really gave the game away, he was 2-14 from the field and 0-10 from 3 and kept shooting from outside on a night he could not hit anything and should have deferred to other players. After the third or fourth miss I cringed every time he shot and sure enough he missed.
Marcus had a good game and Markieff was on the sidelines wearing a KU Jersey.

I just don't see football going anywhere. If you consider all the money the game of football makes and produces? You're pushing a trillion dollars a year if not more.
You certainly don’d mean a trillion, right? The budget for the entire country is just above 4 trillion and there is no way football is one fourth the national budget; perhaps 1 billion? Even then, the medical liability would easily exceed that by at least one order of magnitude.
