@Jethro Selfās out so his in game timeouts and substitutions wonāt be identical to Normās.
I know Iām negative but not sure how people canāt see this one.
They look at Arkansas record yet theyāve had injuries and are now fully healthy. They have 4 nba guys and 2 probably in the top 10.
Like you said...we're playing the Celtics. They're unbeatable. They might even be better than Purdew. And when we play UCONN? That's like playing Phi Slamma Jamma and Patrick Ewing Georgetown all at once.
@HawkChamp said in Hog Wild Game Thread:
@Jethro correct, assuming that was the extent of the issue. I mean, he canāt even stand at practice, which is kind of the opposite of what you hear about people after stents. Hopefully there is nothing else wrong.
Or, he might be so valuable they are taking extreme precautions. He looked pretty good in his interview.

How about MVP for tonight as well? He's in my DFS lineups tonight.
@HawkChamp said in Hog Wild Game Thread:
Welp, no Self again today. No reason to think this, but anyone else wonder if heās done at KU? I know, I know, probably not, just the way things are being handled has me thinking.
Oh yeah, he's gone. No one has ever made it back from heart stents.
@kuballin10 said in Arkansasā¦.:
@Jethro this is not good. Arkansas has done their homework. Juan can be sped up and weak with the ball turning it over.
Sounds like they will do what Texas has the last two games and what tcu did which is donāt let Juan initiate and run the offense.
I donāt have a good feeling about this game
Yes, we have our hands full. Jason Tatum can really ball. Jaylen Brown can score from anywhere, and Marcus Smart can really lock down on defense. I know it's going to be tough to beat the Celtics, but we do have a better coach, and Jalen.
Love pork shoulder. I love the bark. Cuban style with yellow rice, black beans, and plantains. Pulled pork sandwiches with baked beans and cole slaw. Taquitos with black refried beans, and spanish rice. Ok, I just talked myself into picking one up.
Tough talkin' Arkansas thinks they can speed us up
tempo won them that game.
I was hoping Purdew would be our 2 seed.
of course, it magically helps Dook
PURDEW

Iām not sure Iāve seen a team go this ice cold at this level. The rebounding game is even ISU has half the turnovers as Pitt. They canāt make nothing, a layup, a wide open 3 or free throw.
This might be the most inept offensive showing in the history of the tourney. 11-54. 1-17 from 3. Under 50% on FTs. But they have 4 minutes to turn it around...
The craziest part is that Pitt has been a bad defensive team this year.
Clones started the 2nd half 2 for 23. Recipe for a trip home.

That south bracket is a gift to Alabama/Baylor
Creighton will pulverize Baylor.
UVA and Zona lose. Not much else. Dook is still in, dang it. Hopefully 'Tucky loses today.

Arkansas looks frightening...
7 straight ncaa tournament wins.
ZUBY DOOBY DOOOO
KJ's wrists must be sore from all those dunks...
they are so freaking athletic...lol.
Furman punks Virginia...lol.
I like their team. Very athletic, they really run.
nice finish. lousy foul call with 1 sec left.
8 point lead. Would love to stretch that to double digits by half.

Bama is weak. They crumple against physical teams. WVU will foul them 500 times. Miller's bodyguard won't intimidate them...

Not royals but the star reliever for the mets Edwin Diaz, 20 million contract this year, injured himself in a postgame celebration in the WBC. May be an ACL. Awful scene after the game. His brother is a teammate and he was just bawling on the field.
Kendrys Morales did the same thing years ago. Celebration injuries.
And now they identify a 4th Alabama player at the murder scene:
The only reason Bill didn't do the press conference today is he did not want to upstage his players, his team, and the game by taking 30 questions about his health. Hall of Fame guy - thinking about his team, not himself. He will absolutely coach tomorrow.
@dylans said in Complain About KU's Unfair Bracket Thread:
Hardest path according to AP poll
KU plays #10,7
Purdue plays #12, 6
Houston plays #16, 5
Alabama plays #14, 8
So while itās a hard path, KU only has to beat two ranked teams to reach the final four. Alabama, Kansas, and Purdue beat two ranked teams in the same week once this year. Houston beat one ranked team all year.
That's easier than the B12. So glad when the new conf sked comes out.

Well haven't been able to keep up much the last day. Gotten over 2 feet of snow and counting. Power in and out, no cable/internet. It's a mess!
Snow ? - -what is Snow lol. - -Hell according to the weather people and Farmers, here in Kansas we were suppose to be in for one hell of a Winter , razy storms. LOL and I think we have had maybe , maybe 4 inches total snow for the entire Wintr Season lol. What is Snow ?
I always get the biggest kick out of it when people here bitch when we get a one or two inch snow talking about how they hate Winter & Snow. I just think and laugh can you imagine how the People on the East Coast think when People say that lol. - -Sorry to hear bud must be a real mess , don't know what people here would do if it actually DID SNOW HERE LOL -hope it doesn't cut your power where you can watch the game my friend
It's going to be in the 30s in Houston on Friday and Saturday. I miss Florida!

Wondering which game will see his return? Donāt know for certain what he had done, but the pressure of NCAA basketball is heavy. Should he skip the tournament?
Not sure , do know that he did not travel to Des Moines with the team. They flew - -Coach by Car. - Interesting ,Coaching contests like the pressure of tourney game pretty stressful so not sure. He might sit out the Howard game - -But then you got either Illinois/Arkansas - -either one of these not good. Just don't know if it's a good idea in the long run. Might be he is there BUT he is not there , meaning might give input before game and such but not actually Coach- I dunno , broader scheme of things Health much more important then a game
He drove because he just had surgery. Flying can sometimes cause bloodclots, so it's never recommended soon after. the big question is...will he have to drive to Vegas?
@AsadZ said in Bill Self Healthy, Rejoining Team For NCAA Tournament.:
@Jethro Now a days they are doing these procedures through the wrist which is less painful.
Glad I know that second hand....
My question is: he had two stents put in - were they in the same place, or was it two different arteries? I had double stents put in at the same time on my widowmaker artery, and almost croaked. 98% blockage. If it was 2 arteries, then that's much better.
@kjayhawks said in Bill Self Healthy, Rejoining Team For NCAA Tournament.:
Every situation is a little bit different Iām sure.
Not really different. You feel real bad because your arteries are blocked. So you go the cath lab and they remove the blockage and place a stent that allows your blood to flow. So you feel much better. He probably hates the new diet, which is understandable. They have him on Plavix which thins the blood, and prevents future thrombosis. The only concern is the spot on the groin/leg where they went in. But they're using plugs now that make the wound much more stable. I know these things- I have 8 heart stents!
@kjayhawks said in Bill Self Healthy, Rejoining Team For NCAA Tournament.:
@BShark it Will interesting from the stand point most doctors probably wouldnāt want you to get in a high stress situation for a month in his shape
It's actually the opposite. He feels better than he has in a long time.

@BShark Very little info I was waiting for some type of press release with all rumors flying. Hopefully he is able to coach next week and beyond. Stuff like this makes me worried he could retire very soon.
Based on what I've heard about the procedure and typical recovery times, if he wants to coach in the 1 vs 16 game he should be able to.
He'll be fine. His groin will be sore. Might be a little hard to walk for awhile.

UNC saying No Thanks to NIT.
Terrible decision.
Don't like it either. When Bill was sent into the hospital, there was exactly one other fanbase that went out of their way to say I hope he's ok- we're praying for him. And it was UNC. I think their fans deserve a better product, and to build some momentum for next year by competing in the NIT. Bad choice, imo.

After a murders row (sarcasm font) of 6 opponents in the 2022 (upset induced I understand), we have little room to complain about the west. We also had 7 losses, a mindblowing number of losses for a #1 seed in my opinion. I get the quad 1 wins and all that. We still lost 7 times.
If we played in the B10, we might've been undefeated.
@dylans said in Complain About KU's Unfair Bracket Thread:
@wissox The bracket looks hard, because of our confidence in the team. It appears to be the #4 bracket with the best 2 seed, but we donāt have to play everyone and as you said upsets happen. Hard to complain too much about being a 1 seedā¦yet again. Bill is amazing - how many top seeds during his tenure?
10 #1 seeds in 19 years.
@cragarhawk said in Complain About KU's Unfair Bracket Thread:
@BeddieKU23 definitely agree. Even though I do think Norm did a pretty good job. It's just different. Who knows. Maybe they will have a renewed vigor just from having Self there and knowing what he went thru and etc. I just want to see them play like we all know they can. Great things will happen
Stents are only scary the first time. After that, it's old hat. I haven't had one in over 5 years!
@Texas-Hawk-10 said in Complain About KU's Unfair Bracket Thread:
I don't get the UConn love. I assume it's because ESPN is right down the street. They went undefeated in the non-conference, but they only beat two teams that made the NCAA tournament in non-conference and only have 6 wins over tournament teams total and were 6-6 overall against tournament teams. That's not the hallmark of a great team. Not having a legit PG is their downfall and that's being ignored by a lot of people. I'm not even convinced UConn makes the Sweet 16 as they have to start against Rick Pitino who is still one of two active coaches with multiple national titles and he has time to prepare a game plan against UConn. Iona is going to give UConn all kinds of problems. UConn will probably get St. Mary's in the round of 32 and that's a team that can beat UConn as well as Logan Johnson and Kyle Bowen will cause UConn's backcourt issues.
I hope you're right.
@kjayhawks said in Complain About KU's Unfair Bracket Thread:
Maybe this will give us motivation, last time in KC we got super tight and failed.
At least we played. We're not some garbage team like K-State that wasn't even in the tournament.
I have nothing but complete respect for the UNC fanbase. They certainly deserved more than what they got on the court this year:
