@BShark The "Penny Bank" is open...

New 2019 Recruiting • May 12, 2019 03:10 PM

@BShark I think you make a real good point. Logically speaking, why would a 5 star point guard go to a university if there were already two 5 star point guards signed? If you had 50+ offers to truly run the entire show ( a little bit like Trae Young ) at practically any place you wanted to go, why would 3 5-star pgs sign to play on the same team? My answer is everyone of these kids are getting paid big bucks to play small amounts. Why would Rayjon Tucker choose Memphis, where he is sharing the limelight with a boatload of top 10 recruits...over a starring role with KU? The whole sport is corrupt...rotten to the core.

New 2019 Recruiting • May 12, 2019 02:47 PM

@jayballer73 It appears he is trying to drive his price up. Who knows...maybe it pays better to sit on the bench at Tucky than it does to start at KU.

I'm starting to think we don't get Rayjon, either.

Marcus • May 10, 2019 11:41 PM

@FarmerJayhawk So...what do you think of RJ? He doesn't appear to shoot very well at first glance.

Marcus • May 10, 2019 11:38 PM

@jayballer73 I hope Dotson comes back, and we won't be having this conversation.

Marcus • May 10, 2019 10:03 PM

@KirkIsMyHinrich Releford was a great shooter. His senior year, he hit 65% from 2, and 41.5% from 3. And he shot 78% from the free throw line. His overall shooting percent was 54% in 4 years. His overall 3 ball in 4 years was 37%. Releford is not a good comparison.

Marcus • May 10, 2019 08:52 PM

@jayballer73 The line of demarcation is 33%. If he can't shoot 33% from 3, then he needs to quit shooting from 3. I think Texas Hawk is right- let him play point guard, and distribute the ball. Now, he is excellent at driving to the basket, so he is not w/o some offensive tools. If Dotson doesn't come back, and RJ doesn't sign with us, he might be the only choice. He simply has to shoot better from the free throw line ... 57% from a guard is terrible.

ESPN on why Embiid falls so much • May 10, 2019 12:56 PM

@wissox It's called Marc Gasol syndrome. When you play against the best defender in the post in the NBA, you fall down a lot.

Some misc things guys : RJ/Devon/ Silvio • May 10, 2019 12:48 PM

I think RJ only comes to KU if Dotson goes to the NBA. With Dotson being projected in the Top 30, I think he stays in the draft. So, the lineup could look like RJ, Tucker, Ochai, Precious, and Doke. Three guys who haven't played a minute in our system yet. And this is assuming we land Tucker, RJ, and Precious. W/O Dotson, this team doesn't look nearly as formidable on paper. No matter how good RJ's potential, I worry about anyone that takes 26 shots in a game, and shoots 25% from 3.

@BShark RJ/Rayjon.

New 2019 Recruiting • May 09, 2019 01:42 PM

@BShark Could Ochai play the 4? Or do we want a bigger body at the 4?

New 2019 Recruiting • May 09, 2019 01:22 PM

@BShark 1)What's our chances of landing Rayjon?

2) Would a perimeter of Dotson, RJ, and Rayjon be as good as Svi, Dtae, and Newman????

3) Can I get off your fallen list?

Things might work out. • May 09, 2019 01:17 PM

I have never been this excited about KU football....never. It's just like when Larry Brown took over for Ted Owens...

Tristan Enaruna is a Jayhawk • May 08, 2019 09:52 PM

“We have been recruiting Tristan the entire year and have always been impressed with his IQ, skill set and tremendous athletic ability,” KU coach Bill Self said in a news release Wednesday.

A 17-year-old, 4-star prospect who jumped 61 spots in the most recent Rivals.com rankings — from No. 105 to 44 — Self called Enaruna “young for his class,” but lauded his newest player’s versatility and all-around game.

“He would remind KU fans of a Kelly Oubre and Andrew Wiggins-type from his size, athletic ability and skill set,” Self said in the release. “He is still time away from having the impact that those two players had and strength will be very important in his development. We feel like Tristan's ceiling is one that he could be one of the most complete offensive players that we’ve had here at Kansas over the last several years.”

Now, he didn't say that he would be Wiggins or Oubre , but the base is there...the core is there to be a real impact player. I'm thinking he probably has the similar path to playing time as Oubre...he starts off as a reserve, and works his way ( hopefully ) into the lineup. That's part wishful thinking on my part because he might need into the 2nd year to start making an impact. No doubt he is skinny as a zipper. I watched a game where his high school team was playing against a team with Kofi and Cole Anthony, and I thought he held his own, and made several nice plays. He wasn't dominant, but he certainly could be a real good complimentary player with his handles, his passing acumen, and his shooting ability. The best part is he is 17, and so he will be with us for at least two years.

I was thinking 4 out. I know we have played MG at the 4 for stretches. Stick that kid on the wing, and let him shoot, while RJ and DD drive the paint, and dump the ball into Doke....

Tristan Enaruna is a Jayhawk • May 08, 2019 04:48 PM

Tristan Enaruna is a Jayhawk • May 08, 2019 04:13 PM

I'm thinking Dotson/RJ/Ochai/Tristan/Doke.

Tristan Enaruna is a Jayhawk • May 08, 2019 02:10 AM

@jayballer73 Thanks, man. I was going to come back for the RJ to KU announcement, but he's not declaring until the end of May. Plus, I am real excited about Tristan coming aboard. I really like his game because we don't have to use him down low with Doke coming back, and he can create mismatches away from the basket. love that kid!

I like his foot speed, his handles, his jump shot, his passing ability, his rim protection... He's a skinny as a rail, and needs some of that world famous Kansas beef on his bones ( Hudy ). Here are some highlights:

Ok, I'm out of hibernation. My apologies to HEM for some reckless comments I made last year during the heat of the battle. I will try to do better. Thank you to BShark for just being him, and keeping us up to date with the recruiting battles. I guess you can take me off the lost and found list. I'm glad you were wrong about Enaruna. I like his rim protection as much as anything. The fact that he's from the Netherlands normally means high fundamental Euro skills - he seems to be quite talented with the ball, with a REALLY sweet 3 point shot.Teams are going to play hell driving the ball to the rim with Doke and Tristan covering the rim. I like this dude. We manage to bring in Hampton, and get Dotson back, and we could make a serious run for the roses next year. Beautiful get.

@HighEliteMajor Your insults don't bother me. Your insults at the players and coaches don't really bother me, either. I hope your day gets better.

@HighEliteMajor You are the one accusing our coach of being a big fat liar with absolutely no proof...once again. HIGH ELITE INNUENDO ...lmao.

13-8 • Mar 08, 2019 12:53 PM

@HighEliteMajor Is that your smoking gun? Sounds to me like he was trying to encourage a young team that was now starting 4 freshmen. I know that doesn't fit your anti-Self narrative, but it's closer to the truth, imo. It's not often we have a player that simply quits on a team, regardless of the circumstances. i could think of some coaches around the country that would've been far less diplomatic than Self was with Vick. Your buddy Squeeky Weber would've had a nervous breakdown.

Nice story about (not so Big anymore) Dave • Mar 08, 2019 11:56 AM

@BeddieKU23 His offensive game looked much better against OU. Several of those post moves looked very nice. What I like is the fact he took it right at them...no hesitation at all.

13-8 • Mar 08, 2019 11:49 AM

@HighEliteMajor

“People should remember Lagerald in a very favorable way,” Self said Thursday at his regular weekly press conference. “No question. We won three (league titles) and won 10 games in the NCAA Tournament in (his first) three years. You know, there’s not too many players out there in the country who can say that. And he’s played a role in that and, certainly, he got better over time.”

Under the bus, huh? What color are the clouds in your world?

The Streak • Mar 07, 2019 03:35 AM

Next year: Dotson/ Grimes / Ochai / KJ / Charlie / Dave / Prison Mitch / Marcus / and maybe Doke. That's alot of experience coming back. Then add in our freshmen, and we should be really stout next year. This year will pay off for years.

The Streak • Mar 07, 2019 01:27 AM

We're coming off 3 straight 30 win seasons, 2 E 8s, and a Final Four. With 14 straight conference championships sprinkled on top. For us, this is Skid Row. Oh my goodness, the clinching of teeth. Our rebuild year is a 4 seed. Oh the agony and pain...death, where is thy sting?

The Streak • Mar 07, 2019 12:08 AM

I look at this season as KU bb ...Part 1. There is much more that's going to come for these guys in the future. They are paying dues now that will be cashed in a big time way in the future. If this as bad as it gets, I think I'm doing pretty well. If there was any way that Doke could hang for one more year...omg. Even if he doesn't, the experience we'll bring back will be very formidable. Then we'll start a new conference streak next year.

Braun • Mar 06, 2019 11:54 PM

@BShark I wish he was available now.

It was a good run. Thank you Jayhawks. • Mar 06, 2019 12:13 PM

@BeddieKU23 They don't say a word about our streak until it's over. Now it's big news.

Bracketology Time • Mar 05, 2019 05:26 PM

@BeddieKU23 It's always the age old question of looking at the team record versus strength of schedule. I have Houston playing 5 games against teams that should go to the NCAAs for the year, which is better than Gonzaga's 4 games. We have/ or will have played 20 games against teams that should make the NCAAs ( I included Texas and TCU, so that could drop all the way down to 16). Still...at 16 games ( worst case) against teams that should make the NCAAs, it is impossible for me to look at Houston, or even Gonzaga as teams ahead of us. If Gonzaga had played 12-16 more NCAA tournament teams this year, I wonder what their record would be. Same for Houston. Not saying these guys aren't great teams, or that they won't go far in the tournament, but I think if Gonzaga or Houston had played our schedule, it wouldn't surprise me a bit if they ended up with a worse record than we have. I sure wouldn't mind being the 3 seed in a bracket that had Gonzaga as the 1 seed, and Houston as the 2.

Bracketology Time • Mar 05, 2019 02:26 PM

@BeddieKU23 First, I want to say I am thrilled with the Houston Cougars doing so well. Secondly, if they are a 2 seed under the new Net ratings, then we should immediately drop every difficult non conference game, and play the worst teams we can find, and run up the score. No more Dook or Sparty...schedule Div 1 patsies. As far as I can tell, Houston has played two games against the Top 25, and won them both. Big woop. Personal feelings aside, Houston has no business in any top 3 seeds discussion. Yet, here we are.

Bracketology Time • Mar 04, 2019 06:18 PM

@Kcmatt7 i don't think we'll be in the Midwest bracket unless the miraculous happens, and we end up as a 1 seed. They aren't going to put us in KC...40 miles away... as a 3 or 4 seed. The higher seeds would scream bloody murder.

Dotson NBA? • Mar 03, 2019 01:00 PM

@BShark Yesterday showed he has work to do. All 4 of his 3 point shots were catch and shoots, and his fg percent seems to go way down when he shoots quick. When he is set, and receives a pass, the fg % goes way up. I also would've liked to see him do something other than drive into 3 people at the basket. I'd like to see him stop and pop. Still, his worst game was still pretty dang good.

Dotson NBA? • Mar 03, 2019 12:48 PM

@dylans It's funny you say that. DD goes out, and has his worst game of the year. I say he stays 3 years.
