@Crimsonorblue22 I sensed a "big brother" speaking when Dedric talked about Q. I think they have a real strong bond.
@BShark In the after game interview, I was struck by how much Dedric propped up Q. You could hear how genuinely Dedric was concerned for Q with the kind words he said. I'm super impressed with Dedric- if we have a team leader, it's definitely him. Maybe the Q break out has finally arrived. Maybe our team leader has arrived.
@approxinfinity Dotson had his first bad game of the year. He couldn't get going, but it had nothing to do with Q. Q was playing defense, deflecting passes, scrambling for loose balls on the floor, going to the basket like he meant it, shooting 3s. He looked vastly improved. Dotson didn't finish today, but he was hounded the whole game pretty tight.
@BShark Grimes looked better than he ever has today.
@KirkIsMyHinrich Maybe we could move the game to OKC...
We are all Purple lil frogs tonite.
Grimes looked like a Div 1 player today. So did Dave. There IS hope.
... and the win.
put marcus on the pasty gangsta...
WOW..BIG DAVE COMES ALIVE>>>.
With Grimes, it's all about his ego whether he comes back or not. An unchecked ego can make a man do some funny things. Like declare because that was the plan no matter what. A little bit like Newman. Can you imagine all the publicity he would be getting this year if he had come back?
@jayballer73 He posted up, went up and under, and scored. He sealed off his man, and converted an entry pass into a basket. These are not moves we are used to seeing with Mitch. That could certainly add a valuable element to his game if he learn to score down low on a regular basis.
1- Before they changed the way they rank teams, our resume would've easily netted us a 2/3 seed. We have not been rewarded for playing the nation's best schedule. In fact, the difficult schedule has probably hurt us with the margin of victory they added in their b.s. rankings system.
2- I don't see any way, shape or form they would put us in KC. A 4 seed 30 miles away? I would really be shocked if that happened. I think the war on KU comes to the brackets, and we won't even sniff KC.
Tonight could be a nice night for KU if Villanova beats Marquette, which they should. Marquette is being touted as a 3 seed, so a loss could knock them down a line...hopefully.
@approxinfinity Too funny...I thought Blackshear looked like Dedric, too. That was my exact thought.
@Crimsonorblue22 That name CRACKS me up...Prisonmitch...lololol...
@approxinfinity And DD slapped the crap out of BB all game long. Barry Brown, you have been "LOCKED DOWN".
@mayjay Koolaid is now a banned substance? Say it ain't so, Joe...
we played very well, and got a much needed win. now, let's finish strong!
We look good. Keep it up, guys...

Trying to be realistic so I won't bother having the HC of the Boston Celtics on this list.
This is in order.
Tony Bennett
Will Wade (if he survives the FBI thing)
Chris Beard
I mostly think the list doesn't matter too much after Bennett. I'd throw more money at him until he said yes.
Whoever we get won't be as good as Bill. How about we get an assistant that can coach defense like we used to play? There has to be another Joe Dooley like defensive guru assistant somewhere.
@kjayhawks We were watching a clinic on how to guard the 3 point line as we were getting thrashed. Start doing to teams what Tech did to us. One other thing- if you're getting pummeled from the 3 point line, don't go to a zone. It doesn't work. I am hoping for a great rebound game tonight, as they seem to provide that after a road loss once they get back home ( 15-0). Thank God the NCAAs are on neutral courts, although I wouldn't be surprised if our 4/5 seed doesn't net us a Sweet 16 match up with Dook.
I think Coach wishes he had put all his energies into preparing for Silo Tech, but he didn't, and we got beat by 30, and now we're looking at the end of a barrel of a gun ... with an Elite 8 team ... leading the conference ... with an 80 year old chip on their shoulder. So, our backs are clearly against the wall. This is the biggest game of the year. Does this team have the maturity to make a stand in a must win game two days after getting smoked? Last game against the Apes, our defense was so poor, we had to go to zone. So, who's going to step up for us, and go out and win it for us? Who is the leader of the team?
One other thing I want to get off my chest- the media for the last freaking 14 years....have BARELY even mentioned our world record holding 14 year consecutive conference winning streak. Now that it's on the ropes, you can't go on any sports website without it being plastered about us in real doubt of winning again this year. So if we lose...or fail, it's big news. When we win, they could care less.
@kjayhawks You know that I love Bill. BUT... we couldn't stop the 4 out when Hoiberg and the Clones ran it, we couldn't stop Villanova when they ran the 4 out last year, and we couldn't stop Tech when they ran it, too. I could probably throw in VCU in that mix, too. This was a coaching loss. Stay with your man - don't overcommit on defense doesn't seem to be in our lexicon. The way you're defending the 4 out is not working, Bill.
@Hawk8086 The Kitties would have to lose twice, wouldn't they?Oops...recalculating........... Ok, so they'll lose at TCU, and we'll live happily ever after...
We'll beat Silo on Monday...then tech will lose at Clone Land on the last day of the season, and there will be a three way tie for first. We got them right where we want them.
@Kcmatt7 ouch.
Is it safe to come out yet? I thought we were playing Tech...why did Villanova show up?
I'll tell you...it is really an exciting time for football. This is going to get real good real quick.
@Woodrow The line has dropped to 4 1/2. All the money is coming in on KU.
For good luck, I'm starting Devonte in a few of my Fan Duel teams. He'll probably be the low score drop on the team, but the karma was too good to pass it up.
Worse Than Advertised:
-
DOOK - Anything less than a 50 point win each game has to be a disappointment to the "better than sliced bread" Dookiephiles. I thought ESPN was going to break down and cry the other night. I hope they pull a Virginia in the first round this year. They are bound to disappoint the "my little ponies" riding the magical Dookie-land fairy train. I work with a Dook fan... in a word...INSUFFERABLE.
-
UNC - Hey, I'm very glad they punked Dook. That said, I can't get that 17 point pasting by Michigan out of my head. Or that 21 point drubbing to Louisville. Not saying they aren't a good team, but this isn't 1 seed, or even 2 seed quality in my books. Bill looks at playing Roy like a dog looks at a bone. Please put us in their bracket...thank you, may I have another?
-
VIRGINIA - Notice a theme here? Good college team ...pack line madness stall ball with pasty gangtas ( Mr. Former Man Bun and Company ) making 3 pointers. You'd think the UMBC tattoo would motivate them this year to maybe make it to the round of 32...heck, maybe even make a rare Sweet 16. I wouldn't bet on it, though. It's not like the drunken crooner ( Tony Bennett ) is likely to lead them much further than that considering 1 E8 appearance in his coaching career.
BETTER THAN ADVERTISED:
MICHIGAN - They are the best in the country, period. In my humble opinion. Coming off a National runners up finish, they forge out to a 24-3 record, and those bozos making mock brackets only give them a 2 seed. Say what? If you want to have a tournament with Michigan, Dook, UNC, and Virginia, my money would be on Michigan sweeping them. They play defense on another level, and they have some really great players, from Simpson, Poole, Matthews and Peske. Add in Bradzooeruski, and you have a dynamite combo of experience and talent. They are why I am hoping we aren't in the Midwest bracket...send us west!
KU- We've been written off and left for dead. A 3 seed? Are you serious? Their lack of respect is going to motivate our guys, and I think our team is going to get better and better and better. I could see this team peaking by tournament time, and if that's the case, then watch out.
KU 72 Tech 68.
@Kcmatt7 I think he would be a match up nightmare for teams. Let's sign him today. Like right now.
Here's my take on the Shorthorns. I have a brother in law that is a KU grad, ferocious fan, who lives smack dab in the middle of Austin. He doesn't give two s*its about Shorthorn basketball, but he always goes out and watches them a couple times a year. He always makes the KU game, and he normally hits another one as well. He is a spectator for Shorthorn basketball. And he summarizes the crowd for their games: an entire room full of spectators.
@jayballer73 I love your posts, especially since you've vastly improved your writing techniques. You've become a lot easier to read than in years past. Nice job, man.
Well, it's showtime. Biggest game of the year...so far. This is it...
[
@jayballer73 They aren't called the "Teasippers" for nothing...
Dotson is my favorite by quite a long way...
The Roach was exterminated????
@bcjayhawk I'm sure Nike has several members of the FBI on the payroll- they can fix it.
@BShark Let's get him.
To show solidarity, ESPN will now change their name temporarily to ZSPN, and will run Zion updates every 10 minutes.
DOOK...DOOK...DOOK...
@dylans No offense intended. The best people on earth live in Kansas.
@jayballer73 The check is already in the bank. No reason to risk the jewels..lol.
A 2 day tournament for the cheese. It's money time. The next two games will determine our trajectory throughout the rest of the season. Win both games, and we're on a 5 game win streak with momentum as the team comes together. If we go 1-1, it might be too little...too late to win the conference. And with the new NET rankings system specifically designed to screw us to the wall for playing the toughest schedule in the country, we could be looking at the lowest seed we've been in a long time. And then if we go 0-2...well, that would be brutal. Let's not think that way.
Bracket Tidbits:
Looking at some early mock brackets, I don't think there's any way they are going to allow us to play in KC. They don't give 3 or 4 seeds spots that close to home normally...especially us. That said, we could really be getting a gift if they send us out West. Here's Why:
-
Gonzaga is simply a lock as the number 1 seed. I have them rated as the worst number 1. They're still a good team, but I think we're better.
-
The 2 seed in the bracket is going to have to come from somewhere other than the West, so it's going to be most likely a UNC or Sparty. With Ward and Langford being out for MSU, I would think we might have a shot. I have been less than impressed with UNC - I just don't see a great team there. Their lack of a presence inside would bode well for us. We go to the West bracket, and I could see an avenue where we cobble together some wins, and go further in the tourney than we thought. That would be a nice surprise.
The area around Liberal is full of feed lots. i don't miss it a bit.
@Fightsongwriter When you drive by a feedlot, someone always says..."that's the smell of money".
Q played 22 minutes last game - KJ played 24. And this was without Garrett. I think the process is well under way to fade Q as the season goes along.
