I miss Jaybate, I miss last year. β€’ Feb 19, 2019 06:05 PM

@mayjay No I didn't realize that. Nevermind.

I miss Jaybate, I miss last year. β€’ Feb 19, 2019 03:57 PM

@Bosthawk That doesn't mean he was "catfishing"us . He has knowledge of our program that predates most of us, so I wouldn't believe it was somehow an elaborate act that went on for 15+ years. He needs an outlet, and we told him to shut up, so there you go.

@mayjay I'm going to call a flagrant 1 on that one. Unnecessary roughness.

You guys are forgetting his badball takes. Those were the best of his career. Some people here wanted to fact check a novelist, without seeing the beauty of the prose.

"I'm enjoying being around them and coaching more because there seems to be more positive energy," Self said. "It’s starting to get fun and fun is imperative."

Translation: Vick is gone with the wind, and we're better for it. Good luck, LV.

Kicking Players Off The Team Game Thread β€’ Feb 17, 2019 02:52 PM

@stoptheflop We're close to being good...maybe even really good. If there is a way we could work KJ in over Q, we could take that next step as a team. We would vastly improve our rebounding, we would have better 3 point shooters in the game, and the ball would flow better offensively. Defensively, we'd be better. This is a no brainer. Garrett would be much better than Q... even with the poor shooting. It's time to pull the rip cord, Bill.

Kicking Players Off The Team Game Thread β€’ Feb 17, 2019 12:31 AM

Dotson/Ochai/KJ/Dedric/Big Dave .....I think that would be the sweet spot.

Kicking Players Off The Team Game Thread β€’ Feb 17, 2019 12:18 AM

@jayballer73 It's time to pull the rip cord- start Marcus, and have Grimes come off the bench. I'm not sure that it would hurt our shooting percent- it might even help it.

Kicking Players Off The Team Game Thread β€’ Feb 16, 2019 11:48 PM

I'm starting to think a lineup of Dot/ Grimes or Garrett/Ochai/KJ/Big Dave might be a really good lineup for next year.

They make us wait 20 minutes in a complete blow out, then they preempt us...whisk us off the stage. It's revealing and pathetic.

Kicking Players Off The Team Game Thread β€’ Feb 16, 2019 09:58 PM

@wissox I'm thinking that if Devon somehow would stay here for 4 years, he might end up being our best guard ever.

Kicking Players Off The Team Game Thread β€’ Feb 16, 2019 09:54 PM

i'm telling you...this team is coming together... i think there is a pretty good team lurking out there....

Kicking Players Off The Team Game Thread β€’ Feb 16, 2019 09:43 PM

Did I hear Frannie right...that he thinks we're going to go a long way in the tournament? Ok, what the hell is going on...did hell freeze over?

When either the NCAA or even the FBI call for an investigation into Zion, then I'll believe this entire process is for "truth, justice, and the American way". Until then, I'm sticking with the radical conspiracy that this is an Adidas setup. Foreign company going up against a huge American company. They flat hammered Louisville, and they'll flat hammer us. Now, it is true they are going after Stubby Miller and his gang in Arizona. Is that Dook taking out a recruiting rival ...or was it Phil Knight's way of leveling the playing field in the Pac 12...or was this an example of the great fairness of the mighty NCAA to go after all that doth break thy rules? In that case, does anyone think they'll go back, and put Alabama on probation for Sexton, or will the 1 game suspension he suffered last year suffice? Anybody believe we'll see a breaking news story about the NCAA or the FBI looking into Zion's "price" anytime soon?

Our League Weekend games β€’ Feb 16, 2019 03:16 PM

I think we have a good shot at winning out. There's something seriously cooking with this team. This schedule of 2 games a week apart is really huge for us, as the team is just now starting to come together. We'll smack WVU, and go into Lubbock with a lot of momentum. I'm getting more bullish on this team every day.

Drop Adidas. Pick up Nike. All kinds of problems would go away very quickly.

Diarra Out For KSU β€’ Feb 13, 2019 04:14 AM

Biggest collapse in history by Louie.

Other Games Tonight β€’ Feb 13, 2019 03:27 AM

@Gorilla72 Did you hear Dykes say that Dook didn't get into Louie-ville until 12:30, and they were "off"? The game started at 9 PM. That might be the lamest excuse for getting your ass kicked I've ever heard.

Walking wounded invades TCU β€’ Feb 12, 2019 06:23 PM

@mayjay It's easier if I don't read them. I pop in, make a comment, and pop off. If we're losing, I don't go on it at all.

Agbaji/Next Year's Team β€’ Feb 12, 2019 04:14 PM

@Kcmatt7 I'm absolutely 1,000% behind that idea. He did a better Dedric impression than Dedric did last night. This guy has definite clutch tendencies, and for a team starting 4 freshmen, we need all the clutch we can get. Something was different last night. Maybe the guy has finally relaxed, and let the game come to him. He looked like the player we thought we were getting last night. The lightbulb has come on, and I have a good feeling it won't go off again.

Agbaji/Next Year's Team β€’ Feb 12, 2019 03:57 PM

@kjayhawks LOL...oh, ok. That makes sense. Both KJ and Mitch have been MIA most of the year. It is great seeing them contribute.

Agbaji/Next Year's Team β€’ Feb 12, 2019 03:48 PM

@kjayhawks I'm not understanding or agreeing with the KJ hate at all. KJ won that game for us, period. He hit 2 buckets without flinching when the game was on the line. Your timing to go on a KJ rant is ...odd.

Agbaji/Next Year's Team β€’ Feb 12, 2019 03:45 PM

@jayballer73 Q in the wrong program? That's laughable. They've been saying the same thing about our top recruits for 20 years or more. Q dominated everybody until he ran into players that were just as athletic, and it exposed him. He has slow feet, and he doesn't have alot of quickness, which hurts him defending, and hurts him from separating from defenders. Near the end of the first half, he sank a nice fade away ...which in my 6th day of the flu recollection, was the first time all year I can remember that he actually did something on his own to create space.

HEM compared him to a freshman Wayne Selden, and I think that is a very favorable comparison towards Q. Even Wayne shooting the bolo shot from behind his head was more accurate than Q. In my limited basketball strategery, it appears he doesn't do anything without the ball, and when he does get the ball, he fires away without being set, which makes his shot go long on practically every shot. i mean...let's get real. If we had built our entire offensive approach around Q from the get-go, would we even have a winning record? The way I look at it is if Q doesn't have the ability to look honestly at the results, and realize he needs another good year at least in college in order to even sniff time in the NBA, then he probably wouldn't listen enough to do the things he needs to do to get better at the college game. So, it's a grow up or die moment, imo.

@BShark We haven't seen that all year. This team is coming around...I'm telling ya...

Walking wounded invades TCU β€’ Feb 12, 2019 12:42 PM

@jayballer73 Devon played almost as well as senior Frank last night. What an amazing performance. This is the kind of victory that can propel a team to greater heights, for sure. I am pumped up.

Big 12 games β€’ Feb 11, 2019 06:36 PM

@jayballer73 Thanks for the kind words, man. Self's highest loss total in any year here was 10. No doubt we're in major rebuild this year, at least to our standards. If Doke doesn't get hurt, we are 21-3, or 20-4. As it is, we're 18-6. ranked in the Top 15, and still in the conference race. And we have played the very toughest schedule in the country, bar none. We're down a 7 footer, our best defensive player, and our best 3 point shooter, and we're still living to tell the tale. All of these young kids that are getting sand kicked in their face at the beach will be back in full force next year. The passing and ball handling should be exceptional next year. I think the 3 point shooting will be much better next year. Big Dave should continue to develop, and will be a guy that will more than hold his own.

I'm thinking we'll run a 4 out, with Dotson, Grimes, Garrett, Agbaji, and Big Dave as our starters if Doke doesn't come back, and they can't get Silvio approved for next year. I think Braun will force his way into minutes, and McBride will see time as well. Down low...well, thats really the tricky part. We might have to get a grad transfer, a juco player, or somebody that would be ready to get minutes almost right away, if we can't land a big name. I just don't see anyone on the roster spelling Big Dave who wouldn't hurt us. Lightfoot is too small. The 5 is not KJ's game. Maybe the best course would be Doke coming back, but that is certainly not guaranteed. If he were to come back, we might have just enough to make a run at the title next year.

Big 12 games β€’ Feb 11, 2019 04:39 PM

I think we'll win tonight. Day 4 of the flu has me barely functional, and "I think we'll win" is about as good as it's going to get.

Agbaji/Next Year's Team β€’ Feb 11, 2019 12:19 PM

His poise is tremendous. You can't teach what he shows upstairs. I wish it would rub off on Grimes. Between him and Dotson, we might have the most poised freshman we've ever had, sans number 1 ranked recruits. We need a big burly or two for next year, and we will be in business.

Big 12 games β€’ Feb 10, 2019 02:47 PM

@BeddieKU23 The pack line at it's best.

Mitch Is All Of Us β€’ Feb 10, 2019 12:16 PM

@DanR I hope you're right. I like their toughness- it would be nice if he could bring some of that to us.

Big 12 games β€’ Feb 09, 2019 11:37 PM

Dook is putting on a clinic how you beat the pack line defense. Virginia is a mutt - they're not in the same class as the Dookies. I still think the best team in the country is Michigan.

1 - Michigan

2- Dook

3- Tenn

You're watching Silo/Baylor? Huh...

Mitch Is All Of Us β€’ Feb 09, 2019 10:43 PM

Boynton complimented Mitch as well. BTW, if Okie St ever gets rid of Boynton, wouldn't he be a great asst. coach? I'm always impressed with the way his teams compete with us. Real class act, imo.

BIG DAVE...

VICK GONE for Good this time??? β€’ Feb 09, 2019 01:13 AM

@Fightsongwriter He'll be back. If the break helps him refocus, I'm all for it. There is still time for Vick to have a happy ending at KU. I keep thinking we put up with Tyshawn for 4 years...

VICK GONE for Good this time??? β€’ Feb 08, 2019 04:42 PM

Woe is us...lol. Our rebuild year off a Final Four is Top 15. Oh, the agony. Once again, i repeat ... the season isn't over...life as we know it hasn't ended quite yet. We're still making sausage, and no doubt this team has taken forever to develop. A few of the players have stunk so far. It's not fatal- players can improve ...teams can improve. Maybe the subtraction of Vick will help a few of the guys ( Charlie/KJ) to relax and play better than what they've shown. In fact, Charlie looked a lot better last game. No doubt he's had his crummy moments, but it is what it is. Whether I'm happy or unhappy about it, the season will unfold as it unfolds. None of us know what our results will be, although many of us have a good idea about it. I simply know the chapter hasn't been written yet, so there is still hope. I'm not going to sit around feeling bad over what's happened so far- I'm going to look to the future, and hope for the best.

VICK GONE for Good this time??? β€’ Feb 08, 2019 12:43 PM

His head hasn't been in the game in quite a while. i hope whatever is going on, he finds some kind of resolution to it, and he can come back with a fresh mind, and play like he did the start of the year. i hope the team rallies, and strings some wins together. This might turn out to be a blessing ... you never know.

Rocktagon the Chalktagon β€’ Feb 07, 2019 11:06 PM

@approxinfinity Put Big Dave in for for a minimum of 10 minutes every game. Wouldn't it have been easier to teach one player ( Big Dave ) his position than trying to get a team to learn a new offense in the middle of the season? Admit it, Coach Self...the 4 out works like a lead balloon with this crew because you don't have the shooters you had last year. Free the hi-lo....FREE BIG DAVE!

Rocktagon the Chalktagon β€’ Feb 07, 2019 11:00 PM

I don't think the ineptitude is a permanent condition. We're being schooled on the road by older teams that have been around the block. We're still barely scratching the surface. We're still cobbling together different line ups. There is too much talent on this team to not get better...much better...this year. I wouldn't know when that will be, and I'm not so sure who it will be, but I think this team still has potential...still has possibilities for this year.

Svi traded to Pistons β€’ Feb 07, 2019 12:46 PM

@Kcmatt7 The timing was messed up. Detroit trades one of their starters as they sit one game out of the final playoff spot. I love Svi, but I don't see him being able to do what Bullock can at this stage of his career. Just a weird trade- maybe they're trying to tank to get a better draft pick or something.
