That Ref is a hardass (and has been in the past). She was being a petulant child and took away what should have been a great moment from Osaka who legitimately kicked her ass. Straight sets and neither set was close.

Serena's coach said he was coaching her. Straight up said he was. And did it blatantly enough that the ref noticed and felt it deserved a penalty.

Serena then SMASHED HER RACKET later in the match. Costing herself the point. The Ref didn't make her smash her racket. And then to take that frustration out on Ramos, who doesn't take shit from anyone in Tennis, is her fault again. He has put Murray, Venus, Nadal and Djokovic in their places as well. He is a hardass.

This wasn't sexism. Her claims that it is sexism makes me like her so much less. This was Serena getting her ass kicked and trying to use her Stardom to intimidate the ref and her opponent because she knew that was the only way Osaka wasn't going to kick her ass. It didn't work and now Serena is crying foul.

Osaka has at least handled this very gracefully.

I forgot too. I still like their roster though.

Preseason Hype/Discussion • Sep 11, 2018 02:30 PM

@BShark Can't bet against Huggins. Hard to bet against Drew somehow putting together something that somehow finishes in the top half of the league.

I don't trust Smart to make them a good offensive team. Just look what he couldn't do with Allen and Bamba. The Coleman/Long/Roach backcourt could be salty though. I thought Sims flashed as well. They still have Slow O (Osetkowski) in the post

I'll just move this here.

I think they should have as good of a starting 5 as anybody in the league. But I agree, Shaka worries me. More than anything, I'm just high on Coleman as a Sophomore. If he can improve his 3PT shot he could be the top PG in the league this season. The best thing for UT this season though is not having a Bamba or Allen that Shaka feels he needs to show off. They should be more guard/team oriented.

  • Coleman/Ramey
  • Roach/Davis
  • Jones/Liddel
  • Osetkowski/Hepa
  • Sims

They are really about 9 deep and they should be able to space the floor with 4 shooters on the floor at all times. Could go 5 if they really wanted to.

Of course, Shaka will drive them into the ground, but I do like their roster.

Preseason Hype/Discussion • Sep 11, 2018 02:08 PM

If I were putting money on it:
- KU
- WVU
- KSU
- UT
- TCU
- Baylor
- ISU
- Tech
- OSU
- OU

KU undefeated through Conference play, winning the conference by a full 5 games.

2019 Recruiting • Sep 11, 2018 01:45 PM

@BShark Oh the OU schools could absolutely blow. But I really think we saw how bad TTU was without Evans. I mean TTU has no PG.

That's why this is bold lol.

I'm definitely higher on UT than I have been. They have a PG, get Jones back and should be able to score the ball a little bit.

2019 Recruiting • Sep 11, 2018 12:31 PM

@approxinfinity My bold prediction: Texas Tech tumbling all the way to the bottom.

Another one: Texas finishes in the top half this season.

I did hear a funny "conservative" burn last night on this topic.

"Trump's economy is doing so well, even Kaepernick has a job!"

Believe in something • Sep 11, 2018 12:03 PM

@DoubleDD talent-wise, ignoring the anthem stuff, he should be in the NFL making $6-7M.

Is that better?

Believe in something • Sep 10, 2018 07:06 PM

@justanotherfan I can absolutely agree that Kap should be in the NFL. Making probably $6-7M a season.

Believe in something • Sep 10, 2018 05:26 PM

Kap put up basically identical stats to Jacoby Brissett last year. Should Jacoby Brissett be a starter?

Chiefs @ Phyllis' House • Sep 10, 2018 03:29 PM

The defense was not good. But, I don't think the Chiefs were "lucky" as much as the Chargers proved why the Chiefs have beaten them 9 times in a row. Don't punt to Hill. Don't throw INTs. Don't go for 2 in the 1st quarter.

While I think the Chiefs pass D struggled, I was encouraged by Nelson. He looked the part outside of two HUGE mental lapses. Which is something that can be cleaned up. I think if Berry comes back, the Run D turns into an above average one. All in all, the D looked better than I expected. They look like they could be a top half of the league defense by year end. Which may be good enough if the Offense puts up 35 points per game.

Tonight!!! • Sep 10, 2018 01:59 PM

@BShark I mean Luinstra is like what you expect to get as far as Walk-ons go. Good player from local high school, but not D1 good. Probably D2 though. Especially considering he played 6A ball.

Tonight!!! • Sep 10, 2018 01:09 PM

I just can't get over how good our Walk-on players are. You forget that Self basically got a steal in Teahan and Elliot. Luinstra is like the model player as far as walk-ons go.

I wish I could buy a season pass to watch practices this year lol.

Thoughts going forward • Sep 10, 2018 11:22 AM

Rutgers will probably still be favored this week. They won 3 Big 10 games last season, so I'd say they are in a much better state as a program than we are right now.

Unless KU rides Pooka to death next week, and from here on out, KU will likely lose the rest of the games by double digits.

Paging Jayballer To The Courtesy Phone • Sep 10, 2018 11:19 AM

Rodgers has to learn how to protect himself better. Manning and Brady didn't have crazy expensive lines later in their careers. Rodgers doesn't help himself because he likes to extend plays and takes at least one unnecessary hit every game.

But he is a magician. He will win another Superbowl at some point.

I could expand on this, but Kelce and Watkins are what is allowing Hill to run all over the field the way he is. Kelce will show up in a couple of weeks.

Was really impressed with Watkins today despite the low stats.

He will have his day in the sun sometime this season. Hill is going to force a true doubleteam lol.

Offensively, I'm most concerned with our running game. The Line is just not great.

Chiefs @ Phyllis' House • Sep 10, 2018 10:05 AM

@JayHawkFanToo Also Andy Reid ingenuity. Great new play design at the goaline scored two of the "passing" touchdowns.

Also, a lot of River's yards and two TDs came late, really pumping up his stats. Chiefs had it in control heading into the 4th and just let him have all of the underneath routes.

However, Rivers did get unlucky. Benjamin dropped a couple of easy TDs early. But Benjamin is also known for dropping passes.

Mahomes threw 10 INT in 591 attempts in his last season at Texas Tech and people tried to tell you he'd be an interception machine.

I didn't expect him to be a turnover machine, but he could have easily thrown a couple of picks yesterday. The one that went through Watkin's hands comes to mind.

I mean if college numbers translated to the NFL, every TT quarterback for the past 15 years would be starting in the NFL right now lol.

Chiefs @ Phyllis' House • Sep 09, 2018 11:14 PM

Prescott is meh. I think Cowboys still need to find a QB

Chiefs @ Phyllis' House • Sep 09, 2018 11:13 PM

The D does need to figure it out. At least the offense looks to be as advertised.

Mahomes may be the real deal. I've just never seen the Chiefs with a top 10 QB in my lifetime so it's weird to watch lol.

Other CFB games - week 2 • Sep 09, 2018 04:09 PM

OU should win every game in the Big 12 by two scores. TCU might be the only team with a chance.

Texas sucking is hysterical. For the life of me, I can't figure out why they suck other than they didn't even land a QB for this class despite basically having a wide open starting gig.

How FSU let Jimbo leave I'll never understand.

MSU is a surprising disappointment.

Kentucky may have turned a corner. Could be a 10 win team.

Notre Dame beats Michigan and then damn near loses to Ball State. So still clueless how to bet on them.

Stanford and Washington are a cut above in the Pac 12. But unless Stanford goes undefeated, they will miss the playoffs again.

Penn State got rolling finally. But they aren't that good. I think the Big 10 could struggle to get someone in.

Georgia got past one of their toughest games of the season this weekend. Probably meaning UCF will be outside looking in on the playoffs again.

Playoff prediction - a repeat of last season:
- Bama
- Georgia
- Clemson
- OU

Georgia's toughest two games left are @ LSU and Home vs. Auburn.

Clemson appears to have all but a cake walk.

OU should go undefeated through the B12.

Bama looks like Bama. Have basically the same schedule remaining as Georgia.

TURN ON THE COLORADO NEBRASKA GAME IF YOU HAVEN'T YET

Other CFB games - week 2 • Sep 08, 2018 11:07 PM

Colorado scores a TD after a 3rd down incompletion that turned into a 1st down off of a defenseless receiver penalty.

Nebraska's starting QB got injured the previous drive, and will have to try to win it with a walk on

I just want to make sure we give Beaty the benefit of the doubt. I think he needs to go, but man if he shows a big step forward this year (not that he has losing to an FCS team), I don't want to jump the gun on the process. If he wins 4, and we are at least competitive in several games I'd have a hard time letting him go. Just because that means he actually has proven that progress has been made.

Does anyone care to predict the CMU game? • Sep 08, 2018 09:54 PM

What happens if Beaty wins against Rutgers and then wins a B12 game? What does Beaty have to do to keep his job at this point?
