2018-2019 Grad & Sitout Transfer Thread • Mar 28, 2018 06:29 PM

@JayHawkFanToo He went on visits and looked in to it. But it looked like teams didn't like his chances and wanted a 2 year commitment. His camp apparently didn't think that was something they could promise and so it never ended up getting done.

Looking at it now, I think he would have gotten cleared by the NCAA. I also think he did the smart thing by skipping school. He will be a borderline lottery pick still, it looks like. I think we will start to see this happen more often if he really does crack the 1st round after not playing a second of CBB.

2018-2019 Grad & Sitout Transfer Thread • Mar 28, 2018 06:27 PM

@mayjay I think both of those teams wanted a guarantee that they would at least get 1 full year of him. Even if the waiver was denied. His camp probably said no.

How should Jay attack the find a way boys? • Mar 28, 2018 06:25 PM

Truth is, whoever mans up wins this game. Whatever one team does to counter in this game, the other can do something to make them pay. Whoever wants it more for 40 minutes ends up on top. Rarely will you see a game where teams match-up so well pound for pound, while playing the same style. Comes down to each guy winning their individual matchup.

  • DG vs Brunson - Naismith POY matchup, will be fun to watch.
  • Newman vs Bridges - Who can hold who to less points? Or rather, who can score those points most efficiently.
  • Vick vs Booth- Who will put their stamp on the game more? Can Vick put up 15 points and make Booth disappear? Or do we see B12 Vick and Booth ends up being the Nova savior?
  • Svi vs. Paschall - Can Svi rebound two games in a row? Can Svi make them pay for putting Paschall on a perimeter player?
  • Doke vs. Spellman - Can Spellman shoot well enough to force us to put a guard and double-team him? Can he pass well enough out of a Double-team? Can he guard Doke?
  • Garrett vs. DiVincenzo - Who will be the more impactful sub? Can Garrett force a couple of turnovers? Or will DiVincenzo have a field day from the arc?

I'm pumped to watch each of these small battles within the larger game.

My hope is that we school Paschall a couple of times on the Perimeter and they have to go small with 4 guards to matchup defensively.

@BShark Great point. Forgot about that. Really think he is the type of guy we could steal away.

I keep waiting for Bill to get another crack at a top 10 big man with actual size and strength. Not like Diallo who was a bean pole.

Big Dave plays HARD. He is just heavy footed as could be.

Yeah. He's going to be great in time. Vernon Carey is a special prospect but he totally worked McCormack over in a game earlier this season. I hope McCormack is okay with taking his time and maybe even redshirting. Everything I've read/heard you'd think he would be but you never know until a kid gets into a situation.

I watched the replay of that game. Carey looked like a grown ass man.

I'm hoping with Capel leaving, maybe Norm can try to get in his ear some more. Would be perfect timing for him to come with (I think) everyone but Big Dave and Mitch probably gone. Even if we have one of Dedric or SDS, I expect there to be a starting spot available.

McDonald's All American Week Events • Mar 28, 2018 02:51 PM

Nas Little looked like the best player in the scrimmage yesterday. At least imo. Dotson looks exactly how you want him to. Romeo never looks like he is trying, but still puts the ball in the basket. Zion looked like Zion. I was not impressed with Barrett or Reddish yet though. Keldon Johnson didn't stick out. Grimes definitely didn't stick out. Quickley looks noticeably not as good as basically everyone else there. Big Dave plays HARD. He is just heavy footed as could be.

McDonald's All American Week Events • Mar 27, 2018 10:22 PM

@BShark I would hope he has the capability to shoot 2.5 3s per game at a 35% clip. That's about my expectations.

McDonald's All American Week Events • Mar 27, 2018 09:58 PM

@BShark SGA shot less than 2 per game though. And in conference play, 1.4 per game. So he is taking only the widest of open 3s to shoot 40%. Not that great. There is a reason nobody really guarded him past the 3 point line.

McDonald's All American Week Events • Mar 27, 2018 09:23 PM

I don't think 3pt shooting is as bad of an issue as we think. This team doesn't look like UK did this year, at least as I'm picturing it. Dotson will shoot better than SGA, Grimes will shoot better than Diallo, Newman/Vick/Langford shoot better than Knox. So, I feel pretty good about our shooting being good, just not good enough to carry you for an entire game probably. But if we have the post play we expect, we should make up for a lower 3pt% with better defense and rebounding.

Jeff Capel to become Pitt coach • Mar 27, 2018 04:24 PM

Well I really hope he does well and K feels he can hand the program off to him in 2 or 3 years. Ready for K to be done. Capel doesn't scare me whatsoever.

McDonald's All American Week Events • Mar 27, 2018 01:41 PM

Scrimmage is on at 3pm today. I'm home sick from work so at least there is that to look forward to.

Final Four bound!!! • Mar 27, 2018 01:24 PM

@BeddieKU23 I'd put Bridges on him if I were them, no doubt about it. Newman has been scoring at 3 levels though, so good luck to whoever is guarding him.

McDonald's All American Week Events • Mar 27, 2018 01:18 PM

@BeddieKU23 Agreed. Cal literally just threw him out there and said go play lol. I mean I think Vanderbilt is a freak of nature athletically. But Cal must have thought that was enough. Vanderbilt looked like he was still trying to play AAU ball the few games he did play in.

McDonald's All American Week Events • Mar 27, 2018 01:10 PM

@BeddieKU23 I think Vanderbilt thought he could come in and dominate. Wasn't the case... Seems like he is the type of guy who would rather be in the G league than at school though. So I don't expect him back at all.

But yea, I expect Richards to be a big surprise next season. Once he figures out the game, and puts on some more muscle, he should be tough to handle.

If they have another mass exodus though, they may suck. And Cal may legitimately be on the hot seat if they turn out an NIT year next year because of the exodus. UK fans are so tired of it.

Final Four bound!!! • Mar 27, 2018 01:07 PM

@BeddieKU23 Both have had issues several times this season. Whoever is guarding Newman may have a tough time staying out of trouble with the way he has been driving the ball. Maybe a couple of DG head flops lol.

McDonald's All American Week Events • Mar 27, 2018 01:04 PM

@BeddieKU23 I guess I just figured he would be back. But now that you say that, makes sense. Guess a lot of Nova's season will depend on Quinerley.

McDonald's All American Week Events • Mar 27, 2018 01:03 PM

@BeddieKU23 I think Washington comes back. So they should have 4 solid post players who are multiple years into the system for a change. Add in these new guards, who I think will be much more talented than this years group, and you have a very good team.

Keldon Johnson looks like a bonafide stud.

McDonald's All American Week Events • Mar 27, 2018 12:59 PM

@BeddieKU23 You think Brunson is going pro?

Final Four bound!!! • Mar 27, 2018 12:57 PM

@BShark Just the perfect 5th guy to have on the floor. Unselfish. Does the dirty work. But also capable of scoring when he is open. I will be interested to see if Self puts Doke on Paschall an Svi on Spellman. We can double Spellman if we need to. He is not a great passer.

I would honestly feed Doke like every possession for the first 4 minutes and see if Spellman can keep from fouling. Or even just run pick and roll with Doke and see if you can get a blocking foul on him. Either way, my goal is to get him out of the game as fast as possible.

McDonald's All American Week Events • Mar 27, 2018 12:51 PM

@BShark This one still has hair. That is terrifying

Final Four bound!!! • Mar 27, 2018 12:46 PM

@BeddieKU23 Get Spellman or Paschall in foul trouble early, and I think this game changes.

McDonald's All American Week Events • Mar 27, 2018 12:25 PM

@BeddieKU23 I actually think their team may only go as far as Tre Jones takes them. But if he is anything like his brother, he will do just enough to get the ball to the guys who can score and let them do the damage.

I do not forsee next season as a "down" year for CBB at least. I think Duke, UK, Nova and KU should be the best 4 teams and it shouldn't be close. Virginia should be the 5th team, but a tier below the first 4.

That Nova game in Lawrence next year is going to be epic.

2018-2019 Grad & Sitout Transfer Thread • Mar 27, 2018 12:14 PM

@BeddieKU23 Seems like he just wanted the big payday. I think he did a good job at OSU, but when you jump jobs the way he did, you deserve to struggle.

McDonald's All American Week Events • Mar 27, 2018 01:36 AM

@BShark Better than I thought for sure.

McDonald's All American Week Events • Mar 27, 2018 01:32 AM

Zion may be the heaviest player here, and still getting more vert than anyone else. I don't know that anyone will be able to guard him in college.

McDonald's All American Week Events • Mar 27, 2018 01:31 AM

Dotson might too though! HOPS! Both of them! I'd love to get Langford and just completely out-athlete people next season.

McDonald's All American Week Events • Mar 27, 2018 01:30 AM

Grimes represented us well though. Freak athlete. Going to catch a lot of lobs next year

McDonald's All American Week Events • Mar 27, 2018 01:16 AM

DOTSON HAS HOPS. HEAD AT THE RIM!!

McDonald's All American Week Events • Mar 27, 2018 01:15 AM

Should be fun to see Grimes an Dotson go though. Dotson about to dunk.

McDonald's All American Week Events • Mar 27, 2018 01:05 AM

Grimes in the Dunk contest right now on ESPN2.

Scrimmage is tomorrow.

Game is Wednesday.

2018-2019 Grad & Sitout Transfer Thread • Mar 26, 2018 10:52 PM

The Chris Mullen experiment has not gone well. Moments of brilliance, but mostly nothing but disappointment.

KU Twitter/Memes • Mar 26, 2018 06:48 PM

@JayHawkFanToo Bagley had an amazing season. Should be a top 5 pick. Could still just as easily go as high as 1.

Final Four bound!!! • Mar 26, 2018 04:42 PM

I keep checking Mock Drafts to see if Newman's name would start popping up. Haven't seen anything yet. But he has legitimately been the best player in the country for 3 consecutive weeks. Hard to think he wouldn't be a end of the 1st round pick at this point.

Kam McGusty Transferring • Mar 26, 2018 04:40 PM

I think a lot of coaches will learn their lesson if more OU players transfer. I mean I would have been pissed to if someone I played with shot as much as TY.

KU Buckets Tournament Challenge! • Mar 26, 2018 03:34 PM

@BeddieKU23 It looks like a few people did, but not regular posters. Your'e in the 99.9 percentile right now! Jeeze!

2018-2019 Grad & Sitout Transfer Thread • Mar 26, 2018 03:32 PM

Jordan Sheppard and Kam McGusty leaving OU. They are going to SUCK next season. Kruger needs to hang it up.

Final Four bound!!! • Mar 26, 2018 09:16 AM

@truehawk93 hopefully back to back.

Jerrod Hasse is the only person I would consider for the job with a KU tie at the moment. I hope he puts together a decent team next season. But I’m ok not hiring someone with KU ties. It worked pretty well the past 15 years.

Nova -5 • Mar 26, 2018 01:42 AM

@BShark Absurd spread. Especially when Duke would have been favored had they won.

I have said it multiple times, but NBA teams will start getting pissed if K keeps going zone. Stunted the development of both Bagley and Carter this year. Had he stayed the course, I think they probably beat us. Instead, they go strictly zone and it cost them.

Nova -5 • Mar 26, 2018 01:40 AM

That's an aggressive line. Holy shit lol

2012 and 2018 • Mar 26, 2018 01:40 AM

Payback in 6 days. I would be scared if I was Jay Wright. Bill with a chip on his shoulder should be an interesting storyline.

Self's "A" Game; Look At Us Now. • Mar 26, 2018 01:17 AM

I have no idea what to do with Nova besides feed Doke the ball and get Spellman in foul trouble. You get him in foul trouble and KU wins that game. We let him run around and do his thing, we lose. Doke is the key to the Nova game. it will be a race to 80.

KU Elite 8 game chat • Mar 26, 2018 12:46 AM

I’ve never been so proud of a team. 7 man rotation. Bill bringing Silvio on at semester will go down as the greatest recruiting move he ever made. Hope Ayton and Sexton enjoy the cash they took.

KU Elite 8 game chat • Mar 26, 2018 12:00 AM

@kjayhawks If he doesnt' crack first round I'll be shocked.

KU Twitter/Memes • Mar 26, 2018 12:00 AM

KU Elite 8 game chat • Mar 25, 2018 11:58 PM

Svi MVP. I know Newman was a freak offensively, but Svi guarded and rebounded with a future NBA allstar all night long. I hope scouts took note and Svi earned himself a spot in the draft.

KU Elite 8 game chat • Mar 25, 2018 11:58 PM

@BShark I seriously think it is going to cost Bagley 4 spots in the draft. When K switched to zone he gave up on this team.

KU Elite 8 game chat • Mar 25, 2018 11:35 PM

@jaybate-1.0 Sometimes I hate agreeing with you. But any team that only has 4 fouls through 22 minutes of play is absolutely a joke.Especially when the other team is not physical and has 10+. This wasn't Duke vs. WVU. This was Duke vs. 4 guards lol.
