KU basketball games on DirectTV? • Sep 21, 2017 02:32 PM

I like DirecTV. My parents have it and it is better than Google Fiber.

YOU CAN WATCH KU BASKETBALL GAMES with a quick fix. Buy a Google Chromecast. Then, from your phone, download a VPN changing app. It will tell your phone you are in another country. You can then play the game on ESPN3. You can also do this with a laptop by downloading a VPN changing app as well and just plugging it directly in. I've gotten the best picture with my Chromecast and I bought it for $30.

Well here ya go - -for what it's worth • Sep 20, 2017 08:38 PM

This is a show-me-the-money scenario. Adidas vs. Nike. He is the type of kid, much like Wiggins, that endorsement deals are talked about before he steps on the court. If Adidas ponies up, he is KU bound. If Nike ponies up, I suspect that he will end up wherever Barrett isn't. Although, Duke has already landed Reddish so neither Barrett or Zion may choose Duke. Would mean UK lands Barrett and Zion more likely than not will want to get paid and be featured and will end up at KU.

Guys this big, recruiting analysts don't know squat about them. Too much going on behind the scenes and so much can change so fast. I will say, if Zion doesn't end up at an Adidas school, I'll be shocked.

I bet this last weekend on mybookie.ag but I don't really like it. It is user friendly, but it doesn't offer as many betting options as I would like. As soon as I get my payout, I'll probably switch to someone else. I think probably Bovada just because it seems like it is the least sketchy.

Its funny. I am 14-5 on this. But last weekend I hit a 10 game parlay on $50 and won $12k.... go figure.

But I definitely say that we have at least one game a week that is like the best out of conference game that week.

@kjayhawks Really depends on what the top donors think... And the odds that firing Beaty costs SZ his job... And what Bill Self thinks of SZ.

I think Beaty is safe for one more year regardless.

Whiff City • Sep 15, 2017 09:43 PM

If we can't land a legacy, who we offered and were all over for an entire YEAR before UK, who TF can we land?

Grimes is coming here. We have visited him nearly 10 times. We were the 3rd school to offer him. We have put the time and effort in. We have done all of the right things. If we lost him to UK, I just don't see how there couldn't be something dirty going on. This would be the last straw for me. I couldn't NOT believe that Nike, Adidas and agents 100% dictate where most top 25 kids go.

@DoubleDD

Shame on me? Shame on you telling lies. I didn’t use Mister Watt for anything. I was just showing the great deed he has done. Sadly none of your major news outlets have followed up on the story. Had no choice but to use this site. You guys are the ones that couldn’t just focus on the story. No had to focus on the site, even though I admitted you wouldn’t like the site. Funny you mention Fox. You might want to rethink that? As the people you keep referring to as with you. Don’t see Fox as a legit News site. LMOA

Yes shame on you. Again, I have no idea how you found the site. But if you use a search engine, there is plenty of MSM still popping up. In fact, SPORTS sources. Websites that specifically talk about sports reported on the same thing. If you didn't want to talk about your source, you shouldn't have said anything about it. Nobody would have said anything.

Examples of what popped up when I googled "JJ Watt Hurricane."

!0_1505510543692_JJ Watt.JPG ↗

What? Do you think great journalist are just born? What you think the tried and true media sites you tout as fair with just a slight basis (lmoa) create great journalist? No they go to the minor leagues and recruit. So these small news outlets you blast? There is a star waiting to be born. And when that happens they’ll be feeding you your nightly news.

First of all, the website that you just posted is not where MSM would recruit for journalists. That isn't the minor leagues, it is the professional league of scamming. MSM gets their journalists from small newspapers and websites that actually show some credibility. Again, not propaganda websites like you have been posting.

You’re like a leaf in the wind. Blowing here and there just trying to fit in. Not me. I am Democracy. I want to have the debate, the conversation. I’m not going to just agree to agree. Nope not going to happen,.

I have yet to see you actually have a debate with someone. Either your reading comprehension skills are so poor that you usually can't even understand what the person is asking or you just ignore their response. I'm ok with you calling me a leaf in the wind, knowing that most of your posts stem from pure ignorance.

I believe that this quote says what I feel towards you at this moment much better than I could say it myself:

“There is a cult of ignorance in the United States, and there has always been. The strain of anti-intellectualism has been a constant thread winding its way through our political and cultural life, nurtured by the false notion that democracy means that 'my ignorance is just as good as your knowledge.”
― Isaac Asimov

Sadly you have turned my tribute to a person that I’m going to admire (and even buy his jersey)(Got one ordered) into a no sense argument.

I'm happy that you did that. I hope that JJ turns your jersey purchase into another donation of some sort. I'm sure that he will. I actually don't find this to be a "no sense argument." I find it to be further proof that you really aren't willing to engage in conversation. At least a coherent one. I sincerely asked how you found a site like that. Yet you didn't respond to that question. So, I'll ask again. where/how did you find that site? Perhaps you will answer it this time? I'm sorry if you feel that I railroaded your post. I was not the one who mentioned the source. You did. And nobody would have said a word about it if you hadn't. So, it does lead me to believe that there is still resentment on your end from the last time that you posted a site and were criticized. But yet, you did it again. I find it to be a fascinating, almost child-like behavior. You are testing to see what you can get away with. How far can you push the limits of posting a strange site in our llittle community. It is entertaining, at least during a long offseason and what looks to be another disappointing football season.

Also noticed you’re speechless about the Huffington Post link. LMAO.

I'm not speechless. I just don't know what you think you are accomplishing by posting it. First of all, Huffington Post was the original site created by Andrew Breitbart. You know the guy who started Breitbart.com and was the unofficial voice of Trump throughout the election? Huffington Post is not MSM. Not only that, but the survey that they used in the article, only interviewed 1,000 people. Or, .000000310 of the U.S. Population. Statistically, you can estimate those numbers out over the U.S., sure. But to do that, you would have adjust for standard deviations, or rather, that poll is so tiny it would be safe to say the numbers are 99.99999979% worthless. Especially because the poll was taken, mostly, by those WHO READ THE HUFFINGTON POST DAILY. Which is the same type of person who believes Breitbart articles. Which is the same type of person who is so ignorant that they think the Huffington Post is MSM. So of course, they don't trust the media. They, for God only knows what reason, go dumpster diving for information on sketchy websites that aren't real news but just some random person who is looking to brainwash people and make money from those zombies sharing their fake work and infecting others with the disease.

So, are you sure that you even wanted to post the HuffPost article? Do you have any defense to the survey they used being only 1000 people and then applying it to 323M people? Do you have any defense to the site being created by the same man who created another propaganda site in Breitbart? If not, I don't think you want to use a Huffington Post article as a source to anything.

With a tweet and a heavy heart • Sep 15, 2017 07:52 PM

@DoubleDD Shame on you. Using JJ Watt's cause to further your agenda on attacking "mainstream media."

If what you would like to talk about is why we prefer MSM sites to less reputable ones you should have just made that a topic. AND, we can give you a reason.

Credibility. The credibility of MSM is where it makes it's money. Not propagating rumors. The two sites you recently posted are prime examples of propaganda. They lure you in with a catchy headline, say a bunch of stuff that you probably agree with, and then you share it and it happens to someone else. Those websites don't care if they lie. Or even if their message is working. They only care about your shares. Because the more views they get the more money they get from advertisements. If CNN or WaPo or NYT or Foxnews put out a fake story weekly, they would go out of business. They are in the business of honesty, with a slight biased that usually comes from a poll or quotes that spin facts. But, they do not report false things and present them as facts.

To be honest, these tiny websites that you are sharing simply don't have the resources to put out good or accurate news. They, more likely than not, steal the 4-5 main stories from other websites and pass it off as their own or write a 300 word blurb and insert pictures and videos to fill space. They then publish a fake story such as "Pentagon falsifying paperwork to send arms worth $2bn to Syria, report finds" to put out propaganda that somehow, some people believe.

So, we prefer MSM because they are much more credible. Not to mention that the propaganda being shared by these websites is 100% morally wrong. It is wrong on so many levels. So, if you want to continue to share these news sites that are questionable, realize that you too are doing something that is morally wrong. It makes you part of an attempt to break down our system and Democracy by sharing these propagated stories. And that is why you are seeing backlash from people.

Montell Cozart • Sep 15, 2017 04:37 PM

@kjayhawks My point is more that, we could have won. Even with him at the helm.

Makes us look even worse.

Montell Cozart • Sep 15, 2017 04:21 PM

@justanotherfan You have to have people around him that can make plays though. If you are going to ask him to throw nothing but short passes at least.

Nor do we actually know how good of a ball he can throw. He had about 2 seconds to throw a ball.

Montell Cozart • Sep 15, 2017 04:06 PM

Anyone keeping up with him? Minus a horrible interception that cost them the game last weekend, he has been great. Proof we never had the talent around him nor did we use him correctly in our run game. And, that it doesn't take a great QB to win games or produce results.... Surround a 2nd stringer like Cozart with talent and he can still win you some football games.

Ohio Bobcats • Sep 15, 2017 03:44 PM

If KU plays like the did in the 2nd half offensively, we just might win this thing. But if the Defense plays like it did even a little bit, we are probably going to lose.

Whiff City • Sep 14, 2017 08:57 PM

@BShark Having Larry hand you players sure isn't a bad thing...

Whiff City • Sep 14, 2017 05:53 PM

@BeddieKU23 I'd be worried if we hadn't picked up the transfers. But that is not the case. Dedric is All-American level good. Moore proved himself in a P5 conference as a very solid PG.

Those two things can take a team a long ways.

If Doke, Preston and/or Vick are back that adds another scorer. Garrett looks like he is going to be significantly better than I thought. Him in his So. year will be a legit NBA prospect.

Throw in the combination at the 4 of De Sousa, Lightfoot and KJ and you can play anyone's style of game or create mismatches at that position.

That team would have enough to be a top 10 team. Maybe not a NC team, but a top 10. When you throw in a guy like Zion that changes the team all by himself. If we were to land two of the 3, i think we would be favorites to win it all. If we landed all 3 I would think that we would be heavy favorites.

But putting out a top 10 team after losing all 5 starters is amazing. Nobody else does that consistently. Not UK, not Duke, nobody but Bill.

With a tweet and a heavy heart • Sep 14, 2017 05:34 PM

@DoubleDD We are giving JJ plenty of love. The man is amazing.

Whiff City • Sep 14, 2017 05:15 PM

@BShark Bill could easily take the page out of the 38-1 UK team though. GO BIG. Like just go really big, make the game super clunky, and then run as hard as you can in transition. Win games 70 to 60 where half of the points are offensive rebounds and the other half are from turnovers. Other teams don't get second chance points because our lineup of 4 guys who can all get 10 rebounds any given night are crashing the boards.

It would be ugly to watch. But I think that team would win a lot of games still.

With a tweet and a heavy heart • Sep 14, 2017 03:29 PM

@DoubleDD Purely out of curiosity, how do you find or even end up on a website like that?

And JJ has been great. He's a great ambassador for the game, both on and off the field.

Whiff City • Sep 14, 2017 03:08 PM

@BShark Yea I suppose. We've seen Bill do well with less... It is always funny because there are even times that I want to question him, and then he puts up another 30 win season.

Whiff City • Sep 14, 2017 12:38 PM

@BShark yea I'm not worried I guess is my point. We don't need starters. We sure could use them. But our starting group next year looks great and everyone from that lineup minus Vick will probably be back the following season as well.

Prediction standings and overview of b12 • Sep 13, 2017 08:04 PM

Vegas Lines:
- KSU (-4) vs. Vandy
- KU vs. Ohio (-8)
- Baylor vs. Duke (-14)
- OSU (-13.5) vs. Pitt
- SMU vs. TCU (-18)
- WVU vs. Delaware State - No lines I can find.
- ASU vs. TTU (-7.5)
- ISU (-10) vs. Akron
- OU (-33.5) vs. Tulane
- UT vs. USC (-16.5)

First of all, great weekend if you are a sports better. Taking UT and the points is a no brainer. USC and UT game is going to be like 45 to 30 and UT would STILL cover the spread. Easy money.

I like Ohio to cover against KU.

I like Akron to cover against ISU.

I like Duke to cover against Baylor.

I love love love TCU to cover SMU.

So... who gets fired first? • Sep 13, 2017 07:53 PM

Just to put in perspective how shitty of a job it is to play QB for university of Kansas, Montell Cozart had to play last week because of an injury. He threw 2 TDs and 1 INT for 161 yards on 7.2 yards per attempt. He also ran for his highest total ever against an FBS opponent. If you put up an O-Line and have some talent, even a crap QB like Cozart can look pretty darn good.

So... who gets fired first? • Sep 13, 2017 07:26 PM

Zenger isn't going anywhere. I think Bill like him and if Bill likes you, you stay.

I do however think that an outside search committee should be responsible for our next hire. Zenger shouldn't be able to pick another football coach. But he definitely isn't going anywhere with the new football stadium renovations and other projects going on. That is one hell of a task to ask someone to come in and finish halfway through.

I do not think Beaty is going anywhere at the moment. The job is still a terrible job. And he looks like he is getting the talent in here. Eventually, that talent will push us up to 4 or 5 wins, 3 or 4 years of mediocre 4-5 win seasons will end his tenure. But the job will actually be one that a decent coach would be willing to take it over. We will have to ride out DB for the next 4 or 5 years no matter what I think... Well unless he puts together another 1 win season next year.

Bowen though, has about 1 more week. A bad loss to Ohio and another poor defensive performance means he is as good as gone. He has to be. We have a good enough D-Line that we should at least be able to control the line of scrimmage and rush the passer well enough to force turnovers. Neither of those things happened last week.

I do think that Meacham looks like a clear upgrade as an OC compared to Beaty so his job should be safe.

Do we think that Bender could be "fired?" His job is on the line this week. Even though I think he gives us the best shot to win... Although I would like to see what Starks could do out there. He could be one of those guys that's a "gamer."

Whiff City • Sep 13, 2017 06:57 PM

Even without landing anyone, this team is still capable of making a run next season.

  • PG - Moore
  • SG - Garrett
  • SF - Vick
  • PF - Lawson/De Sousa
  • C - Lawson

Top 10 lineup. Landing any of these guys just makes us more of a NC favorite. I honestly expect to still land Dotson, but perhaps not Grimes at this point. Losing either of them is a huge miss for the staff, but Bill was smart enough to take high level transfers that he can count on if he did swing and miss. Not a bad way to hedge bets... Take the sure thing and then swing for the fences the rest of the time you're recruiting.

With De Sousa and Dotson being on the same visit, Dotson is in the bag. If De Sousa had that good of a time, so did Devon. He probably feels like he HAS to visit Florida out of courtesy I'm sure. But I'm as confident as ever he ends up in Crimson and Blue.

Grimes worries me for several reasons and I could see that slipping.

I would say Langford could still be in the picture. Staff is visiting with him tomorrow. They need to get him on campus. A Langford and Zion combo could be amazing to watch.

@justanotherfan I've seen. And a million dollars is a bargain for the type/amount of PR he needs. No reason to publicize it unless you need PR...

It's ok though, we can agree to disagree. You see him at face value and I see him/his agent pulling strings and spinning stories for his benefit.

@justanotherfan

What did he have to lose at the time? He was benched for Blaine Gabbert. At that time, he was at an all-time low. He only had something to gain. Surely nothing to lose the way things were going. He was a backup to one of the biggest QB busts of all-time and on a downward trajectory. Not only was he benched for Gabbert, he was benched for Gabbert in a Chip Kelly Zone Read spread offense. His sweet spot. If he couldn't succeed there, he wasn't going to succeed anywhere.

CK had nothing to lose at the time. Absolutely nothing. The moment the man was trying to get another job, he gave up on the fight while other players aren't. Nothing about that says sincere to me. If you want to take him at face-value that is your call. I personally see an immature player who's agent helped him with an amazing spin job. Kaepernick has been an issue off the field and on the field in the past and there is no reason to think he matured enough to start a movement like this with any kind of sincerity. To believe his protests were calculated and then basically ignore just how ignorant he was by not voting in the election is delusional.

I'm being accused of not understanding because of my emotions towards CK and the fact I'm not a minority. The truth, the protests have no effect on me one way or the other. I'm just turning on TV to watch football. Whether a player sits, stands, or takes a piss while the National Anthem is playing really has no effect on me. I have taken the emotion out of it completely. Can you say the same? And if you can, how can you defend CK after he has just given up on what he was once so passionate about 365 days ago? It just amazes me.

@mayjay And there is a reason why other players on other teams don't get the same reaction from fans that CK gets.

Why is he willing to stand this season? Why didn't he vote? These are signs of insincerity. As was the fact he didn't make it known why he was pouting on the bench until I believe the 3rd week of the Preseason? Nor had the man EVER said anything previously about this cause. More signs that this was a spin job by him and his agent after he was in trouble for throwing a fit on the bench.

And, for the record, you are assuming I disagree with the protesting. I don't disagree with protesting whatsoever. I'm simply pointing out how insincere I felt when it comes from CK. I think Marcus Peters has done a decent job of protesting without saying anything. I loved his Black Panther's hockey jersey he wore last season. Thought it was so cool. I enjoyed watching the players who stood, put a hand over their heart, and raised their left hand in solidarity. There were several powerful pictures of that.

Anyone who stands up for what they truly believe, and sticks to their guns, I can support. But if you don't have the balls to continue your fight when the going gets tough, I won't ever believe that you were sincere in the first place.

@justanotherfan Two questions.

Do you think CK's protests were sincere?

Do you think Tim Tebow is a good enough football player that he should have a job in the NFL? At any position.

Because those are the two things preventing CK from getting signed. Everyone sees through the bullshit. He wasn't protesting. He was a little kid throwing a fit on the sideline because he wasn't starting. All of a sudden, this season, he is ok with the strides toward equality that were made in 365 days so he will NOW stand for the National Anthem? Nope. Nobody is buying it. It was a load of shit.

Second, if Tim Tebow can't get a job because of the media circus he brings with him, why in the world would anyone think CK can get a job with that same media circus? Tim Tebow is a living saint. He is talented enough to play in the NFL as SOME position. He is a great teammate. But, he is still a major distraction because of the media circus that he brings with him. CK is in that same boat. And he did it to himself.

CK has nobody to blame but himself. Of course he doesn't have a job because of his protesting. And an NFL owner is not going to alienate the white, redneck, patriotic fan base that actually buys $1,000 season tickets, $30 parking passes and buys $125 jerseys. And why would you? Business 101. It is 10x cheaper to keep an existing customer than to find a new one. In this case, if 2,000 season tickets less were bought (only about 5% of season ticket holders), at an average price of $500, that alone is $1M. That doesn't include jerseys not being bought, beer sales, food sales, parking sales, etc. We are talking about $2M a season CK is on your team at least in lost revenue. If CK doesn't pan out, we are talking about that only getting exponentially worse. If you only lose 500 of those season ticket holders for life by signing CK, we are talking about $8M-10M in lost revenue AT LEAST. Not including the money spent on acquiring new season ticket holders to fill their place. Simply put, CK MIGHT be worth $5M a season purely based on business. And he isn't willing to accept that. That is why he isn't signed.

TCU surprised me. Should probably be ranked higher than 20 after that showing.

Ohio opens the week 7.5 point favorites. With the majority of the money being put on Ohio with the over... If you're a hopeful on the Hawks this week, 1 dollar would win you $25 betting the money line.

Relax, it's week 2 • Sep 11, 2017 02:37 PM

The man ate dirt 25 times on Saturday and picked his ass up off the ground each time. Of course he is going to make terrible decisions when every time he throws the ball he gets hit. If people think Stanley could have done a better job they are delusional.

The interceptions were far from the reason we lost that game. Nor were they down field as I said. Both were 20 yards or less. That is not acceptable and I'll concede that. But again, not the reason we lost the game. And if we aren't going to be able to run the ball in the Red Zone this season, expect quite a few more picks down there. The field is shrunk so much and our O-Line is so bad that we are going to be throwing a lot of hurried passes into tight windows. That leads to a lot of picks.

The real reason we lost the game. CMU had 5 drives for TDs of 70+ yards. And we are questioning the QB play? The first guy to throw for 300 yards in back to back games since Reesing and we are questioning him and not the 590 yards we gave up? This has to be a joke. It isn't like Stanley lit the world on fire last season. Or even took care of the ball?

What game plan would you change to if you were Beaty/Meachem? Our tiny O-Line can't run block. Sure can't Pass block. Receivers can't get separation. No down field threats to stretch the D. Nobody who can catch one and take it to the house like Quiv could. Running backs aren't elusive at all. Or fast enough to get to the edge and outrun the defense.

The truth is we still have a talent deficiency on offense. And apparently one still on defense after watching that performance. Who plays QB is really the least of our concerns if you ask me. Not until our D can play better than wet toilet paper and our O-Line can stop lower tier defense from laying our QB out every 3rd play.

Central Michigan • Sep 10, 2017 02:29 AM

@Crimsonorblue22 Those two aren't the reason we got beat at home by 18... nor were those the problems I emphasized. Our entire D is soft minus 3 players. And that talk of best dline in the Big XII was proven wrong today.

We don't have any explosive players. With Quiv gone, I'm not sure we have a player who can take one to the house. That's a problem. Our running backs are below average. Our O line is atrocious and very undersized. Poor Bender won't make it through the entire season healthy, no doubt about that.

With that all being said, the offense looked like it was somewhat organized and the play calling seemed fine to me. It's about recruiting and talent development at this point. If Beaty can't do that well enough, now is the time to make a move and let a new coach recruit to the bigger better facilities we are going to have in the next couple of seasons

Central Michigan • Sep 09, 2017 11:11 PM

This one is over barring a miracle. Looks like our boys aren't quite where we thought they might be. Defense is soft.

Offenense does look much better this season though. Still a ways away from being able to compete physically is the problem now. Adneji isn't good at LT at this weight. He looks really small out their. And everyone else is just kind of meh. Nothing dynamic at RB. WRs are solid as a group. Bender looks like he is the real deal. Just need some more around him.

It looks like another 2 win season at best. Beaty only gets this last season as a freebie. If we don't take a major step forward next year I'll be very concerned. This game was a good reality check to a lot of us, I think. Which is good. This helped to reset my expectations to be more reasonable. I expected more, but that's my fault for not realizing just how deep the hole is that we are trying to climb out of.

Chorfs • Sep 08, 2017 06:57 PM

@BShark I think he will be a stud. I just don't think he has the same versatility. Not sure he can go lineup as a WR and be effective. Yet. That long TD catch shows how much trust even Smith has in him as a pass catcher though so I could be wrong.

Chorfs • Sep 08, 2017 06:15 PM

@BShark Big Bob Sutton had a great game plan too. Took Gronk out completely. I also love that he has a strong side. Forces the opponent to only play on half of the field. He also waited until the O-Line got tired and Patriots were desperate for points before he unleashed a fresh Houston who wasn't wasting energy rushing the passer when he was getting double teamed by the TE or RB.

Also, the DLine rotation was amazing. A fresh Jones, Logan and Roach is as good of a defensive front rotation as you can ask for. Allen Bailey being back is a huge help as well. If you notice, when Brady got in his funk, it was when the D had a chance to catch their breath and we were getting a push up the middle so he couldn't step into throws.

Reid did do a great job game planning though, agreed. It helps when you have 2 guys like Tyreek and Kelce who are head and shoulders above anyone you can use to defend them. And, they are both versatile enough that you can put them all over the field. How do you defend that? The Tyreek-Kelce twins stack on Tyreeks td is a defensive coordinators nightmare. You HAVE to put two CBs and a safety over the top no matter what. And even that might not be enough as we saw last night with the safety biting on Kelce letting Tyreek run free. If you don't bite on Kelce, you are basically giving us 10 yards, if you can tackle Kelce 1v1. That also means that there are only 6 or 7 guys in the box and we can run the ball.

Overall, I think that Kelce and Hill's health are the keys to a great season. If Conley can step up even a little more, and Alex can be 80% of what he was last night, this Chiefs team may very well be the best team in the conference.

Of course it also depends on how the secondary responds to not having Berry for 15 more games. I think between Murray and Sorenson, we might be able to get by though.

Ok so lets see if new recruiting thread • Sep 08, 2017 05:57 PM

@JayHawkFanToo I wouldn't say solid. He has recruited well and I think next season is the season that we should see the UT program take a big step up. If that doesn't happen though, it is a sign that Shaka was nothing more than a flash in the pan.

@JayHawkFanToo I feel like Alex has happy feet which makes him look more under pressure than he really is a lot of times. He does a horrible job sliding in the pocket.

With that being said, I'm a big Smith fan and I hope they Franchise him and make Mahomes learn at least one more season.

Chorfs • Sep 08, 2017 03:24 PM

@Crimsonorblue22 I just hope that the prognosis is good and he can maybe get back by the end of the season.

At least he played this game. We needed him to handle Gronk.

Sorensen is as good of a backup as any team has and should be able to fill Berry's spot against lesser teams with TEs not named Gronk just fine.

With that being said, not going out and getting Hayden also looks like a bad move at this point.

@stoptheflop Well a 42-28 win is a lot of points and a lot of clock stoppage. I would rather have it be that exciting than a 10-7 win that lasts 3 hours.

White flag event • Sep 08, 2017 01:06 PM

@AsadZ tough call. Who would have predicted Herrera would suck so bad in the closer role? Guy has been nails for 3 years.

If Soler becomes a 30 HR guy for the next 4 seasons, that changes things around too. Too early and emotional to judge the trade fully, yet. But at this point we definitely are losing the trade.

Central Michigan • Sep 07, 2017 05:42 PM

My prediction is more based off of where I think the program should be this year. We will have to handily beat CMU in order for me to feel like we can even beat someone in the Big XII this season.

CMU is picked to finish near the bottom of the MAC. So this, for most P5 schools, should be a cupcake. Even most of the bad P5 teams.

Central Michigan • Sep 07, 2017 04:21 PM

KU 38-CMU 18.

I haven't gotten to watch either team play yet, so don't take my prediction too seriously.

While I guess this whole "let's put politics on a sports site" idea was done with good intentions, I have to say this idea is a cancer on an otherwise good forum. To say the least that site is laughably untrustworthy. Please seek new, and better, information.

I think, for the most part, it has been fine. And most people have been able to separate themselves from the political posts when they go post on the other threads and not hold a grudge or bias towards anyone. In that light, I find that makes this addition a success really.

@HighEliteMajor I totally agree with your freedom of choice point.

Which is why I am against players getting paid to play. They do get paid, many of them just don't like what form the currency comes in.

But, can I ask, what is the point of not letting players transfer like any other student? If someone else wants them to play a sport, what is the benefit of not letting a student transfer? Allowing a free market to dictate itself instead of trying to hold players hostage.

It didn't work for Northwestern, but if an entire league could get their players to unionize and strike, it would be an entirely different ball game. People's response would be to charge those students the tuition and revoke their scholarship. Fine. Do it. Good luck with TV deals. You won't be Nationally televised for 4 years. You won't win a bowl game or an NCAA Tournament game for 4 years. You are screwed. The league would literally go bankrupt.

Which is why the players as a whole have so much more leverage than the NCAA. Which is why players get what they want. Especially after they won the video game law suit. It is why they now get a "stipend" and get more food than the average student. When players cause any public outrage, they win.

@justanotherfan BINGO! School only is committed for one year. Players should have the same commitment. I'm ok with the current rules on transferring as long as the school has to keep the same commitment by honoring a 4 year scholarship no matter what.

@BShark Good read.

@justanotherfan Going to have to be a lot of people helping people. I may go help clean up one of the sites. I get 3 community service days free for work, so I may leave this weekend to go.

Does anyone know of organizations you can contact to volunteer with?
