Regular season games on CBS scare me.
@benshawks08 I like the analysis.
Here's mine.
-
Tharpe < Mason : Mason is a better and more consistent player. Tharpe (9.5 pts per game @ 1/21/14) had his moments and then he had moments. Last year we needed someone that would drive the ball and take charge and nobody showed up for this role. Mason (12.5 pts per game this year) as a backup last year showed more balls/hustle/heart/whatever you want to call it than most of the superstar starting guards on last years team. As a distributor Tharpe had a better A/T ratio. At this point last season he was averaging 5.7A/2.1T per. Mason is at 4.2A/2.2T. Does Frank get penalized for playing on a worse shooting team?? Last years team shot 49% total and this year we are at a lowly 43%. Did Tharpe benefit from KU taking higher % shots vs our 3slinging team we have now??
-
Selden > Selden : I take Selden last year because with a year under his belt you'd expect better results with a year under his belt. Last years stats are as follows FG% 43.7. Points: 9.8. Assists: 2.4. TOs: 2.3 3pt%: 37.7. This year he's at 8.9Pts, 34.6% FG, 3.3A, 1.8T and dropped the 3% to 34.8%. Only thing he's doing better is taking care of the ball.
-
Wiggins < Oubre : This is the toughest choice. Not sure you can go wrong with either pick. Wiggins filled up the bucket with a lot of 2s while KO is more reliable beyond the arc. D wise Wiggins is better but Kelly isn't light years behind him. If you need a slasher you pick Wigs, you need a gunner you pick KO. Draw??
-
Perry or Perry : Just like the Selden debate. A year old but is he a year better?? He's better deep but less effective closer to the basket. Is this the Joel effect in play like @benshawks08 stated? Probably so. Our options at the 5 this year aren't as lethal as Joel and Black when he shined so the Designer draws more attention which decreases his effectiveness in the paint. Perry needs Cliff to dominate so he can regain his back to the basket mojo.
-
Embiid > Traylor : Do I need to explain myself here? No offense to Traylor but anyone picking JT over JE is nuts or has the last name Drew.
@VailHawk I'll have to check that out in a bit. Any f-bombs like he dropped in the ISU game??? I know you all saw that one.
@approxinfinity I wasn't for sure if he had graduated yet or not. My wife talks during 90% of the game so I barely had to listen to him. And the 10% was more than enough. 10% more to be exact.
@approxinfinity Did anyone else think he enjoyed jinxing BG at the line??
Can we start a petition to ban Fran from calling any KU games??
Joel ↗ picture Joel posted about a week ago. Looks alright to me. Are these links to InTouch and National Inquire? ;) Joel needs to have more mass. King James is 4" shorter and 250. I think as long as he turns it into lean muscle mass and gets his conditioning back on track it would serve him better to be >250 <300.
Why is Cliff wearing a rib protector??
@jayballer54 It's not football so they aren't showing up. Opposing fans don't buy up the tickets either like KU would and neither visiting teams have potential Loto picks to go see.
@approxinfinity Until NBA $$$ get him to the L.
Enemy territory... Springfield
Self was recruiting in my area this past week and I totally missed him. He was at the Bass Pro ToC on Thursday. I was going to switch my night of call and go on the off chance he would be there watching Rabb, Monk, Giles, ect. but hadn't heard anything on the local radio (go figure, they hate mentioning KU so I shouldn't have used that as guide on going) about them expecting him. They sure did mention the other coaches that were supposed to be there though...
@brooksmd If I could I'd up vote that twenty more times.
Not sure if the stats are right but we've out rebounded them so far. And we have one more O reb. Biggest difference is 0 FTAs to 8 FTAs. Fouls KU:8 other team:3
And now of course ESPNs mandatory Kentucky time. I turned on Game Day at 9 this morning to see what the crowd was like... well they were doing a long piece on UK.
How are we down only 3 playing like that??
@Crimsonorblue22 : I can't be certain but I know when KU has been on Game Day ESPN didn't have the other team out there. ESPN wants to pump up the crowd. Ushering out the Jayhawks and they may riot....
After hearing all summer how he was "the best player at _ ___ camp" I was really pumped to see him play. I thought maybe he had improved drastically. But he appears to be the same Perry of old. I think coaches are telling the guys guarding him to not leave their feet and wait for the spin move because it's coming... And it is leading to a lot of help side swats and steals. And he still gets shoved around under the basket like he's your little brother.
@jaybate-1.0 Watching NBC Nightly News last night. They were interviewing French Jewish citizens about the recent happenings in Paris and just how safe is it for Jewish people in France. France has Europes' largest Jewish population with around half a million. On the flip side they have the largest Muslim population too with around 5 million. Some wonder if they're truly safe in France with how everything is set up. Well one of the Jewish gentleman interviewed said during WWII the optimist moved to Auschwitz, the pessimist to New York.
@justanotherfan
Coaching changes will more than likely change up some of those mid-level commitments.
Glad it's not a free throw contest. We suck again at them!
Watching the game now. In laws stopped by to see the baby before they go on a week long vacation so I had to wait to watch. Almost half time. I think most of my gripes were expressed by you all. Didn't see this one though. 6'5" Selden was being guard by 5'3" Paige jr. Why not have him post up more than the one time we did at the start of the game???
Maybe it was a walk-on or something. They have a couple of guys that sit on the end of the bench that are listed as 6'2" so they're probably about 5'10".
@Crimsonorblue22 : I was going to say you must be thinking of Ford.
If you like insightful commenting check out their Carlton Bragg comments. Great back and forth there. About as good as a jr high debate. Fb comments are common place on news sites now. And most news sites have low end comments. Think there is a correlation?
@JayHawkFanToo @brooksmd this contract is how @jaybate-1.0 laid it out. Haase can't critize the schools' president. Are they imposing gag orders on all incoming students so they don't tweet, facebook, snapchat, or ect about it??? Wouldn't be shocked with this move.
Haase signs unique extension with UAB ↗
Haase might not be able to critize the administration but I will for him. What a bs contract. I didn't know UAB was ran by the Chinese. If the administration is going to make controversial calls like shutting down the football program they should expect people to speak their mind. Who's next to be out of a program, job there?
Mizzou sucks and KState blows. Enough said.
@BeddieKU23 : Ellis d'ing anyone up is a mismatch ;)
Nash will be guarded by Ellis since starters go 5'11", 5'11", 6'2", 6'7", and 6'8". If we go with are usual line up, and Self will because we don't let people dictate what we run, that would put Ellis or Traylor on Nash. And I don't think we want Ellis or Traylor guarding a 6'2" guy.
You can look at Twitter without having an account. @kuhoops is the handle
@REHawk you can find them on ku Twitter
Why don't we have Lenny be our Drake?
I didn't check back here after asking what the plan was. Saw some of the Bucs' at HZ so I stayed there until I got called in. I don't like the way that chat is setup either. Hard to follow. No avatars for me to keep track of everyone either
I'll give Jesse a try
Chat here or at Jesses'?
Who always asked this one last year?? HEM was it?? Would you rather have K. Shepard for 2-3 years or Joel for 1??
@JhawkAlum : I think after what happened in 2011 with both of the twins and Selby declaring Self is now hedging his bets when he can and recruiting to the max. At the start of that season everyone thought that the over hyped Selby would be gone but hoped the lure of playing one more year together for the twins would keep Mook and Kief from declaring. Then Kief and Marcus both had good seasons, were able to showcase their talents to the league and both became lotto picks. We then struck out on Otto Porter and DeAndre Daniels so that left HCBS picking up K.Yo, Breaden and Jamari really late in the process.
@JayHawkFanToo : FireFox user as well because IE sucked.
@JayHawkFanToo : I hope I didn't confuse you. The KUBuckets had a crimson theme, not the Jayhawks.
@JayHawkFanToo : I think it was the day of or the day before the Kent State game.
Pretty cool find. Thanks for sharing it.
I think we are hoping for Thon in '16. Keep that Canadian pipeline going for us

Did I miss the Crimson skin or is Firefox not displaying it?
You missed it. It was here a week or so ago for a day or two.

No way (in my mind) was the "Kentucky" blip an accident. Sign of classless immaturity in my opinion. If he does that to Kansas, as Cliff did with the hats, we would all be talking $*^% on the kid. Kids are getting way too much attention. Self will make him a better person, that part is certain.
Signed,
Curmudgeon Who also made mistakes when he was 18.
I thought Carlton appeared to be extremely nervous throughout his whole speech. I'm not as sold as you are that it was a premeditated thing.
I posted something about recruiting services and their ranking of players the other day that I caught while listening to Chris Childers and Greg McElroy. Here's my post for those that missed it:
This has nothing to do with KU recruiting but about a week or so ago I was listening to XM College Sports Nation and I want to say it was the Chris Childers show w/ Greg McElroy. Anyways they were talking about how bad the ranking system are. They said what the ranking system in football really breaks down to is this: 5star guys are NFL locks, guys that scouting services are pretty certain will be playing on Sundays. 4star guys are those that scouts think are All-Conference players. And the 3star guys are starters on the their team. 2star guys are 2deep, for depth. McElroy also said that just because a guy is a 3 star doesn't mean they aren't or can't be great. He, Sam Bradford, Christian Ponder, Colin Kaepernick and Andy Dalton were all 3 star guys in '06.
What I got from their statements is this. It's not about getting every 5star guy or even just focusing on 4stars, it's about developing those 3stars guys that we do get. There are only 18 5star guy this year so to think we can start pulling any of those is crazy thinking and we shouldn't determine recruiting Ws and Ls by stars alone. What we as fans can hope for is to pick up some 4star guys in those places that we need as well as 3star guys that fit our style and needs. We don't need seven 4star RBs that make our class appear better than it is. What we need is quality coaching of the players that we do get and have so we can develop them into better football players that contend with the rest of the BCS schools. And hopefully Beaty and Co. can do just that.

That campus looks kinda like a Federal Penitentiary.
Living in Lubbock would be like living in a Federal Penitentiary.
Hold that, this dude has to put in his 2 cents
Now that drum roll...
