@Bwag

I am there with you. I might try Direct TV, they have promotion going for $10 per month for 3 months. Then, I will switch to YouTube TV that is now finally available on Roku, 3 streams, lots of Chanel’s including ESPN and Fox, lots of local station carried and unlimited recording for $35 per month.

I've been using Hulu live, it works pretty well and I do get to see replays.

KU WVU game recap • Feb 18, 2018 08:04 PM

I have a friend from WV and we were chatting about the fouls this morning and both of us agreed the refs had a bad night. His opinion is that the ref's blew a lot of calls that would have favored KU, probably as many or more then they screwed up going the other way. His take on the matter was style of play, KU was pushing while WVU was settling so the likelihood of WVU getting fouled was much lower. I believe Self made the same comment but I'm not sure might have been someone else. He's pretty much convinced WVU is done and wishes us the best the rest of the year. See why I like the guy?

Any Win Is A Good Win • Feb 07, 2018 02:47 PM

There were a few times Svi was open and the ball didn't go his way, a couple times it was forced to Vick instead when he really wasn't open. I wondered at the time if Vicks teammates were trying to help get him out of the doghouse or if there was something up with Svi. Only 3's i saw him take were either after a whistle blew or the one just after the shot clock expired. He was 2-3 on those which along with that nasty dead ball dunk (lucky no T on that) makes me think he wasn't in too bad of shape.

Which one of you did this? • Jan 26, 2018 05:48 PM

LoL not me, my % is better than Dokes, just not that much better!

Udoka Free Throw Solutions - Photo Added • Jan 26, 2018 12:43 AM

After watching Doke, while thinking about HEM's comments, it appears to me that he is extremely left eye dominate which is why he moves the ball to that side of his head. I taught my children to shoot skeet and in the process I noticed that my daughter always closed her right eye, shifted the gun to her left every single time before firing which basically had her sticking her head over the top of the receiver. We checked and she was left eye dominate, so I taught her to shoot left handed and immediately she tripled her skeet score. I'm not saying they should change Doke's shooting hand but I am convinced his eye dominance is at least part of his bad form.

I have stood shoulder to shoulder with Doke. I am 6’ 1” and the top of my head is basically level with the top of his shoulders. He is one big dude! I am looking at the picture as I type this and it still makes me smile. I’d post it if I was smart enough.

The information concerns a student so no I do not think we are entitled to see anything. If it only concerned the university I would agree with you.

Preston Gone • Jan 20, 2018 04:14 PM

It is hard to be greatful for a car wreck but in this case it likely saved KU from serious issues. Just think what would have occurred if it taken a month or more longer for that car to have been connected to Billy. At this point I am wondering if the car is just the tip of the iceberg.

UTTERLY GUTTY HAND TO HAND!!! • Jan 16, 2018 02:16 PM

That is an unhappy coach! Contrarily Self was as happy as I've ever seen him with 2 minutes left in the game. The look on his face reminded me of Tom Hanks in the movie A League of Their Own chanting "we're going to win we're going to win"!!

@jaybate-1.0 Got that one wrong, but I bet you don't mind! What a gutsy comeback!

That's a tough team • Jan 16, 2018 04:12 AM

WOW!!

His name is Mitch. • Jan 07, 2018 04:11 PM

@Fightsongwriter I didn't say he'd do it! and i was thinking single year anyways.

His name is Mitch. • Jan 07, 2018 03:58 PM

Earlier this year I commented that Mitch would be asked at some point, probably more than once, to carry the load. This was one of those nights and he stepped up and did the job. I never doubted his heart, and I always thought he had the basketball IQ I just worried about his size/strength and skill set. At this point in the season it's just his size/strength that I see as his limiting factor on games where he settles in and doesn't get sped up and in his own way. I think his IQ lets him overcome his size to some degree and his timing on blocks reminds me of Withey. He still tends to try to block every shot in the building and at times gets out of position in the process but overall he is getting pretty good at being in the right place at the right time. He impressed me last night and I hope he sticks through to his senior year and has a go at Jeff's block record.

Ample applications of Bushmills Honey helps

I got to see Charlie over a couple of days last summer. He impressed me with his speed with the ball and how quick he changed direction. I am a bit surprised with his turnover numbers as he seemed pretty sure-handed. Of course this was just messing around with his teammates during a kids camp and not what he will see next year year in games.

Merry Christmas!

How was Sam I Am • Dec 19, 2017 04:02 AM

I got to watch the game in bits and pieces so missed some, I'll make it up tomorrow on replay. However from what I did see Sam started off a little out of sync but later appeared to be playing much better. A couple of times on D I noticed he was solid. Over all what are your takes on him? Solid reliever, more of a spot guy, or decent rotation player in a couple of weeks?

Do we end the losing streak tomm? • Dec 16, 2017 04:22 PM

@JayHawkFanToo Check out Hulu Live, it has a better sports package than Sling and so far it is working nicely for me as it includes ESPN3 access.

Frank Mason vs Lebron 12/6/17 • Dec 08, 2017 03:00 AM

He has definitely been earning his keep and what a work ethic. I hope a lot of people look at Frank and see what the right mindset and hard work can do.

Watching him has been a pleasure. I normally only track players their first year in the pro’s. But I am very tempted to make an exception!

I believe De Sousa took either the ACT or SAT test... whichever one is the basic admittance exam for KU. His score was just below qualifying. I don't think the admissions bar on this is set by the NCAA. I just think it is the standards set by the Kansas Board of Regents for admission into KU.

I could be wrong... but if this is the case, good chance De Sousa fulfills his admittance requirements on round 2!

I can't find the article now but one I read had an explanation that made some sense to me. It boiled down to that the score he needs isn't necessarily for admittance to KU but it is to show he has learned the material that on record he has been taught to allow his transcripts to be accepted by the NCAA. So if he has on his HS transcripts he has studied Quantum Physics (ok so maybe a poor example) his ACT/SAT test score should reflect that he has a reasonable amount of knowledge in that field. Basically it is a down and dirty way to double check transcripts from schools, and along the way makes sure the student paid attention to the class.

My question is do they do this from athletes from all schools or only ones not accredited in the US?

BUT!! According to Bohemian the zone was near perfection and if it wasn't for that pesky Devonte they would have done fine! Evidently they controlled everyone else!

Billy • Dec 02, 2017 09:51 PM

I guess in reading the story I took it as a given that she is in lawrence to discuss the car issue, perhaps bringing documentation or whatnot. Self never said she came to see Billy, he said and I am paraphrasing Billy isn’t playing anyway he might as well stay and see his mom. Translating that from coach speak I read it as mama’s doing business and they might need Billy there but who the heck knows so why speculate on it.

I don’t see a conspiracy or a cover up as much as I see a coach not in a position where he can give details but knowing he needs to say something. I spent enough time working in a bureaucracy to know that even if there are no rules preventing information release the left hand isn’t going to tell the right hand all of what is going on even if the right hand is the one that most needs to know. So if you think Self knows everything all the time about what is happening I fear you are mistaken. Well unless he is omnipotent I suppose😜

Frank Mason: NBA Starter • Nov 29, 2017 04:09 PM

I saw where Frank was left in to close out a close game over the warriors. Set a season high with 14 points and has the Kings fans impressed with his steady play when the heat is on. I do believe he is carving himself out a long career in the NBA.

Doke and Mitch and Life’s a B$&%#! • Nov 26, 2017 04:40 PM

I see almost all of Self's comments about players as having a manipulative component to them as Coach Speak often does. Saying Mitch was the best player today gives Mitch a boost and digs the rest of the team so win win. TBH he was pretty effective and for once he appeared not to be running about dazed and confused. Yes the opposition was not top of the line but he has looked scattered against worse teams this season.

I like Mitch a lot, if he wasn't stuck in the 2nd big role, at least for now, I believe he would do a pretty fair job as 3rd big and as 4th big he would be just fine. He is being forced to grow into a position he wasn't chosen for and probably even he didn't expect this soon. Mitch needed a quality performance to help settle him into his current role. It won't make him anymore capable but I'm hoping it lets him settle down and use the capability he has consistently. Don't get me wrong, not advocating more minutes for him 10 plus or minus 5 is what he should be getting at this point and I hope that is what is needed from him in the near future.

Also, note the free throw percentage improvement? If he continues to settle down he might get some end game minutes just for that alone ;)

Billy • Nov 26, 2017 03:46 AM

@BShark Yes they take the higher score, lots of kids take it a second time, or even more. Good idea really as like most anything else practice helps.

It's tough being a Jayhawk fan in small town Kansas. I've figured out how to get the blacked out ESPN3 games but it's annoying you have to work at it, and pay a little extra, to pull it off.

Thoughts on SDSU game • Nov 19, 2017 03:07 PM

@KUSTEVE agreed he is hopping about like a berserk bunny. I don’t remember him doing that to this degree last year. It makes me think he is trying so hard to be great it’s taking away his ability to be good. If he would just play straight up D the silly fouls would go away and the blocks would come.

I got it up on espn, using a vpn

I have hulu live, the problem is i live in Kansas so ESPN3 is blacked out, unless I go the VPN route. Only one cable service and it's no help so I either cheat, or don't watch

Thanks, found it, but now of course it shows up as blacked out :( Means more work! LOL

Earlier today KU showed up as being on ESPN3, now it is no longer listed. Any ideas? i'm not close enough to KC to get 38 and cable one would rather give me oklahoma channels then kansas city

Alexander, Diallo...Preston? • Nov 15, 2017 11:53 PM

@BShark Ah, thanks I've had a long day and haven't had much search time. Did he break the curb or just the car?

Alexander, Diallo...Preston? • Nov 15, 2017 11:50 PM

One car non injury accident, lets say he backed into a tree or something similar there is no mention of other property being damaged. Been there done that, never bothered with calling the police. If no property is damaged other than my car i just file a report with insurance if it isn't something I can fix myself. Started doing this after an officer asked me why I called as there was really no reason for him to be there. Now I am talking minor dents and scraps, not wrapping it around a tree! I kinda sounds like Billy was responsible and reported a minor incident to coach and then it blew up.

I kinda do see Billy's point there has been some wild comments basically assuming the car is something he's been given. The situation is not comical, but some of the comments are pretty out there, particularly if all is good and KU is just being paranoid in light of current events. I'm playing wait an see on this one as it is understandable that any little thing that crops up is going to be over examined as long as the FBI is still investigating.

Are we done recruiting? • Nov 12, 2017 04:53 PM

If I was a top recruit... ok laughter under control.. I would not sign with anyone till as late as possible and let the fbi investigation run its course. I MIGHT make a verbal commitment but I would do nothing that could possibly tie me to a coach/school that might be ready to go down in flames.

Call me paranoid but I don’t think that all the chips have fallen as of yet.

SILVIO DESOUSA • Nov 10, 2017 06:51 PM

You see that someplace JayHawkFanToo? From what I've read it would count as a full year eligibility wise but I will admit to only modest research on the topic.

Compare THIS to KU-MU! • Nov 10, 2017 06:50 PM

@jaybate-1.0 Mauna Kea at sunset up behind an observatory out of the wind needs to be on your list if you can make it happen. Last thing you see before it all fades to black is the top of Mauna Loa across the valley. That might, just might, beat out the Field House but it would be a close race.

Gameday is HERE!! • Nov 10, 2017 03:25 PM

Svi will start tonight. If his cranium has been removed from its hiding place he might start again Tuesday. If not I am not sure he starts again this year. I believe he seriously pissed off his coach and he best make amends by playing his ass off.

SILVIO DESOUSA • Nov 09, 2017 11:27 PM

He would almost have to be as it would still be the 17 school year and it would count as his freshman season. One good thing is he should be in game shape, at least HS game shape.

Gameday!!!! • Nov 08, 2017 06:48 PM

Goto Watch ESPN directly and log in using sling acct/pw. I got replays last year that way but could not get them through sling directly.

Is this current KU team special? • Nov 03, 2017 06:20 PM

Very good chance to be special, IF we get performance from our 3rd big I am not concerned about guard play as ours are as good as or better than any we will see. Face it Mitch once more is going to have a ton of pressure on him this year to step up his game. Doke and Billy are by far the better talents but both are raw, as is Lightfoot I know, and both are foul prone and I worry about Billy's energy level. In Mitch's 10+ minutes a game he is going to have to not be a star, but be a steady defender and keep his head in the game on both ends. He has the drive and I think the physical capability to pull this off, my concern is keeping up mentally and being in the right place at the right time. There are times he appears to get a bit lost, perhaps a bit sped up is a better term. He will be asked to hold down the fort underneath from time to time this year and when he is his performance will be the difference in the game.
