@BeddieKU23 YES!!! I knew they'd REALLY have a tough time with UCLA. Its ok tho cuz KU bout to beat them on their home court next month. SEC is not as tough as Big 12 and UK had an easy peasy lemon sqeezy schedule, and UK is full of frosh and sophs

@wissox I dunno about an NC but, man that Stanford team. We may have bitten off more than we can chew with this game. I think our 44 home court win streak may come to a close today.
Stanford is Huge in the post and all their guards can shoot 45% from trey.

@jaybate-1.0 Yep, Vick is good, but he is not at Ben's level yet. Teams havent schemed against him, yet. His shot is Money and he is good with the ball in his hands, they are about the same height but thats where the similarities end.
@BeddieKU23 UCLA imo is by far the best opponent Kentucky has faced all season. Michigan St is a shadow of their former selves from last year. All the other teams have been major cupcakes. UCLA may not win in RUPP, I agree about the tough environment there, BUT if UCLA can keep the game close, I like their chances at a win.
On the same note, I like KU's chances at winning at RUPP too. Kentucky wont face a team as good as KU until late into March. The SEC is so weak and their non conference schedule has been pathetic.
@jayballer54 Oh man, if your having pains like that bad, absolutely call your DR!! If your PT exercises are causing you pain, dont do them until your Doc says you can. But seriously, go get checked again my man. Increased pain post surgery is not really a good thing.

@BShark Jayball's had a surgery on his knee, I believe. My nurse brain just kicks in when people talk about medical stuff here and I feel it is my duty as an RN to give people feed back on things related.
I dont follow football, I didnt even know Kap said anything about Castro. If he gets cut, kind of like Alex Smith did, maybe he would do better somewhere else.

@jayballer54 I was looking at Kentuckys non conference schedule so far. They havent played near as tough a schedule as KU has. Not even close! Sure they are blowing teams out by 50 points. They are all ranked out of the top 100 schools. Except Michigan St and UCLA. Everyone else, CUPCAKE!!
I think UCLA should kick their butts. I think we could be them in their own house too. Kentucky has not faced a team as good as KU and likely will not even when they get to their conference schedule. Patty cake, the SEC is weak as F%$#

We already know Josh has great handles, great court vision. He cannot be too far away from being able to be a 3rd initiator! That no look pass to SVI against UAB was SICK!

I thought KSU had a very light schedule to start the season. I guess it says something if they beat Maryland. I still like our chances to sweep the purple kitties this season tho.
TCU, I did not see that coming at all. BUT, new coach, new what ever. They could be good this year. again, I still like our chances to sweep them.
Texas!? Yah, I thought they would be better than they showed so far. Im not going to sleep on them though, Its always tough for us to win at their place.
Same thing with OSU. We may have them beat in spades as far as talent and depth and experience, but OSU has our ### at their place. I dunno why.

When Im thinking of my list of players, mostly Im sticking with guards here, from Roy era to Self era... I hesitate to name B.Rush, Chalmers, Hinrich, Langford, even Kenny Gregory just bcuz I dont know if they were doing what Josh is doing right now.

My reasoning being purely positional. All 3 guys are swing man. I say Paul because Josh has the same killer instinct and the same Alpha dog mentality.

@wissox Nice post. I was hoping to win the Indiana game and we didnt. Although, we would have had certain calls gone our way and anyone could hit the broad side of a barn from the line or the trey stripe.

Coach Self started Doke on purpose to get his experience up to par. Something he didnt really do with Diallo or Clifford. I think thats HUGE. All we need is Doke going out there feeling his game and thinking he is 10ft tall.

I seriously thought KU would go undefeated in conference play this season but in light of recent developments, I am recanting my earlier statements.
But, that said, I dont doubt that Self will get it done again this season. Lucky # 13! tying UCLA for most in a row all time. Word.
Then, our bigs need to heal up and play like Men so we can make a run at the Final Four.

@JayHawkFanToo I tend to agree in a way. We all know Josh is going pro after this season. Its a done deal. He could be the #1 pick. But, he didnt come here with that attitude. Coach Self even said, "He unpacked his bags." Id like to get Duval at KU but if that guy is already thinking NBA, his head wont be in it at KU and he will not fit in with Self's system at all.
@drgnslayr Carlton has the patience, intelligence, maturity to go when he is ready to go and not just bail early for a quick paycheck, then only last a year in the big leagues, get tossed to D League.
I thought he would break out this year. Clearly hasnt done it, not yet. He is definitely not on Shady's level when he was a Soph. Not close and I thought he would be.
Carlton should be back and I think Coleby will make a serviceable big off the bench too.

@Texas-Hawk-10 I dont doubt that at all. But, Im watching Lando on the floor and he isnt favoring either lower extremity at all. No limping, when he runs the floor, sliding jumping, anything. Im not seeing it. But, clearly there is something wrong because "Ball dont lie" He is not the same player he was last year at all. Its not close.
Josh Jackson played like a man the other night against Georgia. @Jesse-Newell wrote a sweet article about him at The Star.
We have all seen Josh play like the top draft pick we know he is. The light turned on for him sometime between Sienna and UAB. He looks to me like a player that is tuned in, like he knows he is the best player on the floor when he gets out there. His ball handling skills are a real treat to watch. He can pass and create for himself and others like DG and Frank can. We havent had a wing this talented with the ball in his hands.
Josh, so far this season is averaging 14.4ppg, 6.2rb, 2.4asst 1.2st 0.8blk 2.0to .558 .478 .333
Wiggins entire season at KU, ( cuz I cant find his 5 game totals )
17.1 ppg 5.9rb 1.5asst 1.2st 1.0blk 2.3to .448 .775 .341
The things that really stand out to me in contrast are Josh's assist/To ratios vs Wiggins.
Josh has to work on his free throws. He has to. He is so good at drawing fouls that he could absolutely add a couple PPG on freebies alone. His Trey gun, while hitched, is pretty similar to Wiggins' . No problem there.
Clearly Josh is much better with the ball in his hands. He has to cut down the turnovers but I think he will, no problem.
Wiggins was scoring more per game but he had to. Him and Joel were our best players that year and it wasn't close imo.
Will Josh increase his average PPG? Maybe. The light is on for him. He whips those passes to our other guys like he is a point guard. I've watched Self's favorite play of Josh's quite a few times. Josh whips a no look pass over to SVI on the right wing for an open trey against UAB, studly move. Something Wiggins couldnt do and still its not his strong point in the NBA
@jaybate-1.0 I hope your wrong dude, about the injuries. The medic/nurse brain in me wants to assess with my own eyes before I totally buy in. You could be right tho. On first glance though, it doesnt seem like Lando is hurt, it just seems like he is sucking because he is being schemed against. Bragg? Dunno Doke? Dunno. He is behind the group tho, on conditioning. Coleby, played like a man last night despite or perhaps in spite of his healing knee. He could be our starter by mid season if Doke or Lando dont break out/heal up.
Lightfoot, yeah, needs to pack on the lbs.
