@FarmerJayhawk I don't think Dave will play alot of 4, either. He looked, at times, somewhat clumsy out there (maybe due to his motor) this past season. We'll see.

@BShark I don't see Coach really wanting to play slow this year.

@jayballer73 You have to look past the way he frames the issue and read his salient point. Yes, it would be nice if he learned some phrases like ..."my opinion is" or " I believe", but that said, he is a passionate KU fan, and he participates heavily on the boards. And he is pretty damn sharp in his analysis....

True, and I remember him coming to Coach Marco's defense during the beer drenched Marcus Garrett debate, Lol!

@Texas-Hawk-10 By whose definition? Not mine. I say that if someone plays 3 or 10 minutes a game then those minutes count. Unless, ofcourse, we are not going to count their points, rebounds, assists, whatever. But that's fine, you and whoever else can if you want to call it an eight man rotation while Bill plays ten or eleven guys every game.

@FarmerJayhawk Yeah, anything under ten minutes doesn't count.

CJ’s breakdown seems pretty reasonable to me. He assumes Mitch and Braun RS. I think Moss probably gets a few more and McBride a few less. Probably Doke a few less and Dave a few more as well. Doke probably never will be a guy that can play 27 MPG because of foul trouble and poor FT shooting.

Thank you, Farmer.... And that would be a ten man rotation.

@Texas-Hawk-10 I expect it to change.

@Texas-Hawk-10 Moss is a solid defender, yes, and no one - atleast that I know of - has said that he is better than Dotson or Garrett defensively. He is going to be at times, though, playing alongside both of those guys (I have never knocked Garrett's defense) - that's a pretty solid trio of defenders, and Agbaji won't be no slouch either. This is going to be a good defensive group. Teams are not going to be able to score on us as much this season as last, from outside or in, while we will score more.

I think that Doke, Dotson and Agbaji's averages will go up, ditto for De Sousa who sat out last year and will finally have a full season. Moss will be an improvement over Vick - a no-brainer - who was pretty much absent through the entire Big12 schedule. Dave, McBride and Enaruna will provide some scoring, as well. I know that Wilson will play, too, where and how much remains to be seen - but he'll contribute a few points.

The players that I just named would give us a 10 man rotation, and while Coach hasn't of late been known for using so many guys (out of necessity, due to lack of depth) there was a time that he did, and damn did it ever pay off. I think that this year's team - with all of the interchangeable parts and different skill sets - offers such a possibility. Hell, I didn't even have a chance to get to Mitch (who's defense I love!), Braun (going to be a tough, very good, versatile player) or Harris (a great pick up!).

@drgnslayr Yeah, I'm pretty stoked about the inroads we've made with Mo-Kan myself. That team is loaded every year, and it is quite apparent that we now have a seat at the table.

@jayballer73 Yeah, definitely ice cold. No lukewarm beer, please.

@KUSTEVE I agree, and people are saying that defenses are going to pack it in. Pack it in with who and against whom? Our frontcourt is made of men and deep, and we will have shooters waiting outside.

Ty Berry • Jul 20, 2019 06:53 AM

@alwaysajayhawk I would love for us to sign Berry.

I'm starting to wonder when (or even if, Lol!) the NCAA in its infinite wisdom is ever going to wrap up their so-called investigation? I mean, come on, it's going on two years now. It is all about the shoe money, and we, they and everyone else knows that - including Nike and Under Armor.

The NCAA needs to be very careful here - trust me on this one - or they risk losing whatever credibility that they might still have.

As far as this year's team, I am excited - really looking forward to it. Imo Enaruna is going to shine, Braun is going to surprise many, and McBride will hit a couple threes a game. Wilson is going to play the three and maybe even some four, and might turn into a scrappy junkyard dog. Harris is the wildcard, but if McBride gets most of his minutes at the 2 then that leaves Harris as the backup 1 - many possible lineups and different reserve combinations on this team.

Brown also described Kansas as his “dream school” Friday and spoke about what he likes about Kansas.

“Pretty much everything,” said Brown. “We went down there for a tournament in second grade and I just loved the place and everything about it.”

“He played there as a second grader and ever since, KU was where he wanted to go,” Brown’s father, Courtney told ZAGSBLOG.
In terms of what he’s looking for in a school, Brown said he’s prioritizing “the coaches and style of play”.

Close here Bill.

Any inside info? How good is the guy?

2020 Recruiting • Jul 17, 2019 02:41 AM

@FarmerJayhawk Sign him and it might bode well for us being able to get Garcia.

And now we have Harris, thirteen scholarship players. Rock Chalk Jayhawk!

Ty Berry • Jul 17, 2019 02:37 AM

@alwaysajayhawk we won't sign him, now that we have Harris.

2020 Recruiting • Jul 17, 2019 02:33 AM

I think that Enaruna and Wilson will from time to time play both forward positions. Try to sign Thompson, Todd and Garcia for sure, and whatever others.

2020 Recruiting • Jul 17, 2019 02:24 AM

@BShark Then we need to go full court press and hire his dad. UNC who? Hey, if we can get Love I would be ecstatic, just don't think we will. Will Love sign thinking that for sure McBride and Harris will need a two-year learning curve? Not to mention Garrett, that's all I'm saying.

2020 Recruiting • Jul 17, 2019 02:21 AM

@BShark Oh,,, we'll get Thompson who is bigtime but he is not a point guard. Only trying to be realistic. Nix and Love are not - but if they do I'll celebrate with a bonfire/rib grill/keg party and invite all of you - going to sign with us. Personally, I'm fine with our signing of Harris rather than waiting for Nix or Love.

We still need 2 guards, possibly a wing, and 2 bigs.
This is how I see it. Would have to be a miracle like Scottie Barnes to take a wing.

SO McBride and RS FR/SO Harris as the only point options is an NIT recipe but Self is so good he would make the NCAAT somehow. Honestly I'm that spot maybe Garrett starts at pg, really don't wanna see it. Adding Caleb Love would be a game changer.

Look, not trying to argue with you man, but recruits are not stupid. We'd have McBride, Harris and Garrett - a pretty crowded PG rotation. Didn't say I didn't want us to sign another point guard, only said that we wouldn't. And while thinking that I believe that we should focus mostly on other positions. PS - I disagree about a McBride/Harris tandem at PG being NIT. Would Caleb Love who cannot pass be such an improvement?

FarmerJayhawk said:

That's what I more or less just said, don't see us signing another PG, though.

2020 Recruiting • Jul 17, 2019 02:00 AM

@BShark We will need a big guard and a 2/3 swingman, not a point guard.

FarmerJayhawk said:

BOOM ?s=21

I'll take that. I say quit concentrating on PGs in the 2020 class, focus elsewhere.

2020 Recruiting • Jul 17, 2019 01:55 AM

@jayballer73 That's kind of what I have said and am thinking, and - but we'll always nab a couple of high profile recruits - I am all in!

2020 Recruiting • Jul 17, 2019 01:53 AM

@alwaysajayhawk We won't sign Berry if Harris commits - as simple as that. (edit) I didn't see @FarmerJayhawk 's post before sending this.

2020 Recruiting • Jul 16, 2019 10:49 AM

@BeddieKU23 Man, if we could pull Thompson and Love I would be ecstatic (hope my gut feeling is wrong. It wouldn't be the first).

@FarmerJayhawk gave a list of frontcourt players. It would great to add Todd and Garcia too.

2020 Recruiting • Jul 16, 2019 03:52 AM

@dylans Bold prediction, aside from what the KU staff might want @FarmerJayhawk - and I agree, Love is bigtime - we will have only McBride, Harris and Garrett as our depth point guards. So, let's move on to the frontcourt, who?

Zion thread... or not • Jul 16, 2019 12:22 AM

I've said it before and I'll say it again, don't think we'll get much if anything by way of NCAA sanctions. A slap on the ass after shitting on the floor, "bad dog, but you're a good boooyyyyy!"

2020 Recruiting • Jul 16, 2019 12:14 AM

@FarmerJayhawk Yeah, I saw that too. Prediction, we won't sign him. We'll already have two point guards who are both four stars and more than serviceable. No, scratch that, we'll have three point guards if also including Garrett.

I still lament losing Perry’s Sr. year. Not as much as ‘97, but still a very winnable tournament.

This squad looks way better than last seasons dud, but last season’s team had no chemistry or athleticism. This year should be fun again.

Agreed.

Josh needed a strong mentor about 20 years ago! Still does. I know deep down he's a great kid-man. I 🙏 he gets some help now before he ruins his life. He has a great gift.

Difficult @cimsonandblue12, if by 20 you are completely lost mentoring will usually not matter. He will change when he is no longer catered to and or an old man who suddenly has to. Such a thought is not peaches and cream nor politically-correct, but the truth is sometimes hard. People have to learn to think with their minds instead of their hearts.

Josh Jackson's situation is an all too troubling aspect of American life that we want to ignore - the breakdown of the family and people within and of those families obsolving themselves of responsibility. There is a diva, I am entitled aspect to most of these five star players that is quite disturbing and seems to continue throughout their life.

2020 Recruiting • Jul 15, 2019 11:11 PM

Okay, it is now time for Coach Marco to interpret and read between the lines, and it is as I predicted (I am also a crystal ball reader when it comes to moves that we will make after making moves.... Lol). We already have McBride, and if we sign Harris - regardless of whether he is in 2019 or 2020 - we will not sign Nix or any other five star PG and I am fine with that - feed the horses! Now,,, if we are no longer targeting point guards who then besides Thompson and Todd should we be?

@Texas-Hawk-10 I agree, but we weren’t going any further w/him

if NOT him then with who? - - he wasn't the reason for us not going any further - -it was the team right? - - Win as a team - - lose as a team. - - ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY

I remember thinking, 'damn, I'm glad that we have Lucas.' It seemed that he was always in position for every needed rebound.

true. - - again not flashy - -not dominant - - yet steady

Yeah, I remember he hardly even played at first,,, then he did start getting some PT and sometimes when we were getting worked over on the boards I'd yell, "put in Lucas!" He was great at getting position.

Crimsonorblue22 said:

I think he took us as far as he was capable. We didn't have anybody else. Didn't help josh getting those quick fouls.

Agree, we definitely had no frontcourt depth. That's another reason why I'm ready for this coming season - unleash the monsters.

You know, looking at how his career has arched (with serious behavioral issues anywhere that he goes) I see troubles ahead for Mr. Allen, e.g. of the police variety.

@justanotherfan I have no doubt that he is going to be very good, just don't see him as a transcedent talent. Like I said, think he compares favorably to Shawn Kemp, who was certainly not a scrub.

@Texas-Hawk-10 So, are you saying that he might whind up being a more explosive version of Ben Simmons?

Zion thread... or not • Jul 08, 2019 01:06 PM

Sorry, don't see him a transcendent player as most prognosticators do. I see right now only a powerful dunker who had better be in a hurry to develope other facets of his game or he will soon be exposed. I think he compares favorably to a poor man's Shawn Kemp.
