Is KJ gone for sure? I haven’t seen that reported anywhere...
Lindell Wiggington has declared with plans to hire a agent and stay in the draft.
@dylans That seems to be the rumor. I saw someone actually reported it, but I haven't seen it from anyone else.
I just think the staff honestly completely whiffed on evaluating Moore. It’s not the end of the world and it happens. They thought he would be a legit 20-25 minute backup PG who could shoot the 3.
It didn’t happen .
@BShark I read the article last night. It was fairly encouraging on the Hurt front although if we are being realistic it is just tough to beat Duke right now on the recruiting trail. Hopefully Self can make it happen.
I forgot Stanley was announcing in 2 weeks and then Hurt on the 19th so we will know quite a bit in the coming weeks. Stanley’s recruitment is so weird. There is no way you would think he picks UCLA without a coach and I just saw Jamie Dixon is the leading candidate. I can’t inagine that’s going to blow him away. I know it’s hard to get West Coast kids off the West Coast but maybe Bill can close the door. He is the athletic type of player Self was talking about in that article.
It was refreshing for him to admit he needs more shooters and more athleticism on the roster. IMO he should recruit some athletic lower ranked kids and then look for shooters on the grad transfer market. Those guys have 4 year sample sizes and are known commodities. If they can shoot for 4 years at another school they will able to shoot at KU.
@approxinfinity holy smokes that’s a lot of cheddar! He I going to make more than Bill! I’d imagine Bill will have his agent on the phone with Long this week 😀 in all seriousness Bill is probably underpaid .
@BeddieKU23 Gary Parrish was on the radio this week taking about how that is basically Buzz’s philosophy. If you take a new job every 5-7 years you are basically resetting your shot clock. He probably wasn’t going to do any better at Va Tech so it was a good time to get out. Also helps when A&M is going to grossly overpay you.
I do think Buzz is a great coach though. He will do well at A&M and that just adds more pressure to Shaka and Texas.
Does anyone know if the season ending banquet is this weekend? Or is it after the final 4 since I guess Self might have to be there...
Just seems like that is usually when we hear some announcements of players leaving.

Anything worth mentioning in that article? I saw the quote where he says he is not thinking about any other job, but just curious if there was anything in there that really stood out to you?
- I know the Athletic is really good. I need to sign up for it.
Looks like Kelvin Sampson is staying at Houston. Good for them. Eric Musselman from Nevada is said to be a top candidate now for Arkansas. Doesn't seem to be a good fit but who knows.
Also saw last night that Jerry Stackhouse is the top candidate for Vandy. If that happens it is guaranteed to be a dumpster fire.
David Jenkins is transferring from SDSU. 6’2 guard who averaged 20 points a game and shoots 45% from 3.

Any word on self going to the nba? I’ve been out of the loop for awhile.
There has been some rumblings that if the Spurs job opens after this year that KU fans should be nervous.
Soren Petro mentioned it this morning on his radio show that he has heard people talking about it and I have had someone mention it to me.
Personally I just don't think he would leave under these circumstances.
As someone who played at KU and is still around the program on a daily basis basically told me " this is the most important off season since Roy left"
As you said there is a lot of uncertainty and frankly some uneasiness over the program and coaching staff as a whole. While I would be shocked if Self left right now leaving his program high and dry I am not ruling it out. I have heard some rumblings that he doesn't think he is getting the full support or at leas the support he thinks he should be getting from the new AD / AD office.
I think Hurt is the most important recruit in the Self era. Not because he is a Wiggins talent, but because KU needs some momentum and something good to happen on the recruiting trail. Also I am not sure next years team can be competitive on the level we as fans expect if everyone leaves that we assume will leave and they do not sign someone like Hurt. I think Precious is a pipe dream at this point.
KU is going to sign with Adidas because at the end of the day this is a business and Adidas is offering by far the best deal. It is not even close. Nike wouldn't even outfit all of the schools sports. That has been a sticking point and KU is not going to turn down this contract and take less money and then have to spend more money. Quite frankly it doesn't make much sense to do so. Sure it looks bad right now, but as time goes by people will forget. The athletic department as a whole already operated in the red as it is. They also have zero negotiating power even if they wanted to switch to Nike. So sooner than later they are going to sign their deal with Adidas.
And there will be a grand total of zero one and done kids in the final 4

Beverly is down too KU, Baylor, Georgia, Indiana, Alabama, and Miami.
The quietness makes it seem maybe some guys that we think are leaving either are not or are a lot more on the fence than people think. I think Dedric is 100% gone. Maybe Doke and Grimes are on the fence...?
I haven’t seen KU linked with any transfers whether it be a grad or a true transfer.
Wait... so because someone has two patents who work and provide for their children like they are supposed to do makes them privileged??!!
Surely I’m misinterpreted that.
You could see that coming. Let’s hope we can fill his scholarship with someone that ca actually you know shoot!
Not that there was much doubt, but Ochai posted this today.
Lamont West is transferring from West Virginia. Big loss for Huggy
Christian Keeling from Charleston Southern is a grad transfer. Was first team all Big South. Averaged 19-7-3 while shooting 47% from the field.

Alabama is going to sign Nate Oats from Buffalo. Pretty damn good hire for them.

I have now seen 17 schools mentioned with Lewis and not KU.

I wonder if Kira Lewis would be interested? He may bolt after Avery got canned. KU was on him as a possible 2019 guy.
He has entered the transfer portal
Arkansas, Vanderbilt, Bama, A&M, and probably LSU all open. That is crazy.
SEC is not messing around!

We need to consider ourselves lucky. When UCLA can't get their guy, but Nebraska can, you just have to appreciate your success in the moment.
People who think we will have our pick of the litter once Bill leaves will be sorely mistaken I think. I legitimately believe Beard to UT is done as soon as they can possibly afford it. I think Tony Bennett wouldn't even be a shoe in, and half of our fans don't want him. Will Wade would have been a good pick until recent events.
Anyways, good for Nebraska.
I 100% agree with this. People think just because we are KU we can go get whoever we want. I have seen people mention Brad Stevens, Billy Donovan, etc... A lot of people have no idea of what the real search would look like.
Miles has officially been fired
Bucknell Transfer Nathan Sestina is taking a visit to Kentucky.
KU just needs someone to pop for them and commit. It is like everyone is scared to do so and it feels like once we get that first big name things will go back to normal. Obviously if we don't get hammered by the NCAA. Also, there is some buzz out there about Self moving on this Summer and while I do not believe it I guarantee you that it is being used against him.
@DCHawker I am saying we should only take a transfer to fill a hole. Like next years team needs a shooter so we should be looking for a shooter. ( Next years team needs a lot )
I am not advocating to become the next Iowa St. or transfer U, but I don't think we should look at it is taboo and be afraid to take one every now and again. If Kentucky didn't take Reid Travis they would not be in the S16 and contending for another title.

lowa state 6-foot-9 sophomore bigman cam lard is transferring, source told @stadium
He would probably be blocked in going to KU. but he is the kind of guy we need. Long, athletic, and can protect the rim.
@BigBad Langford has made well over a million dollars a year for quite sometime now.
For a couple years he was the highest paid player in Europe.
@BigBad It is not all about the NBA. You can earn money other places. Why is this so hard to grasp.
I agree that you have to play in the transfer market. As @BeddieKU23 said there are a lot of teams in the S16 that have transfers and would not be there without them. It is just the way the college game has gone. Now I do think Self got a little over zealous on that here in the last couple of years, but hopefully he lands some high level kids in the next month or so and doesn't have to take on a bunch more.
As far as Moore goes I think the staff just absolutely whiffed on him. They thought he was going to be a legit rotation guy averaging 10ppg. He flopped. It happens.
If Self and his staff are not scouring every avenue possible to find a shooter then they are not doing their job. They absolutely have to find a grad transfer like Hoover from Wofford that can shoot.
Good for Iowa St and good for the Big 12.
I watch 95% of the games in the tournament. I think it is one of the greatest sporting events there is. This years tournament thus far has been "boring" just because all the favorites have advanced, but I think that is going to make the S16 and E8 awesome to watch. There is going to be some high level basketball in the coming days being played.
I am not really rooting for anyone except I don't particularly want Duke or UK to win it all.
Every year this happens with fans. There are so many other circumstances that play into whether a kid goes pro / transfers or not. It is NOT all about the NBA for some of these guys. Sure they would all love to play there, but there are so many other avenues to collect generous pay checks and play the game of basketball.
If someone offered you half a million dollars to play basketball in Australia or Europe are you going to turn that down? In regards to Doke it has been said he will have a robust market overseas and make at least that.
I’m guilty of it as well , but fans have to take the fandom glasses off and think about this rationally. Sure there are going to be awful decisions as there is every year across college basketball, but that’s life. If a kid wants to move on and thinks that is best for him and his family then best wishes to them. Let’s get someone in here that wants to be here and will buy into the team 100%. Having another Vick situation is not healthy for the program.

This is a shit show, and has already been arrested today. However, I am 100% certain that he does have some dirt on Nike. Question is will that information still get leaked?
Jarret Sutton was on the radio today and he is a NBA scout for the Clippers ( I believe) and he said that the only one that SHOULD leave is Dedric. He doesn't think Doke and Q will get great feedback from the combine if they get a invite.

Tmrw at 11 am ET, we will be holding a press conference to disclose a major high school/college basketball scandal perpetrated by @Nike that we have uncovered. This criminal conduct reaches the highest levels of Nike and involves some of the biggest names in college basketball.
Not a ton in here on Precious, but says he won't decide until May. No other visits planned right now, but says he is planning on taking a couple more.
Also saw where Hurt is working on a visit to Memphis.

Cut his list to 8. KU is on it.
This has been one of the worse tournaments I can remember I terms of great games and upsets. College basketball was very top heavy this year and I think we are seeing that in the tournament.
Starting next week there should be some high level games with most of the top seeds advancing.
@Eric-san it’s like we all knew it was coming, but it just sucks when it happens and in the fashion it happened
@Texas-Hawk-10 Auburn players are not better athletes? What?? Did you watch the game? Self, Grimes, and Dedric all commented on how fast and athletic they were. How they were surprised by how athletic they are.
As Self said they have players that make plays you can’t coach, That’s athleticism,
