Bryant looks green out there and we aren't making them pay for poor decisions. Landen looks weak. I'd like to see more Udoka. And maybe wings double down and rip from Bryant. Challenge him. If we can keep slashing on O we should be able to foul them out. Also would like to see us open up the playbook a bit. Our offensive narrative seems very limited. I think adding some lobs might help 2nd half if theyre expecting to take some charges on our drives.

I'm sure Carlton has been preparing to be the man this year for 2 years now, during his recruitment, and last year, the staff, his family, the students all expected this to be his opportunity to take the offensive big man reigns from a graduating senior scorer in Ellis. And then along came Jackson, Udoka and Lightfoot, the freshmen that weren't, and then Vick getting the start in the second exhibition game, and all those presumed opportunities now appear writ in water, not stone.
There is no doubt you're right @jaybate-1.0 , this is already the toughening box.
Go Carlton! You can and will be great on this team that is great too!

@jaybate-1.0 he's tough, hustles, is surprisingly mobile and has solid hops. He seems to be in the right place a lot and intuitively make the right play. He's ripping the ball away from people too.
@jaybate-1.0 Frank was solid too for sure. Lots to like about this game all around. Only rotation guy struggling was Carlton and he still grabbed a couple boards and scored. Unfortunately with this depth it might mean an easy doghouse for Self to slide Carlton into. But his sideline body language was still good cheering on the walk ons
This is going to be a tough team to shorten the rotation on. I hope Lightfoot makes the cut.
@jaybate-1.0 Udoka and Josh were excellent. Udoka was on the receiving end of I think 5 alley oops. Both ultra aggressive but composed. Not like freshmen. The guard play from Frank and Devonte settled into commanding the game. Svi and Devonte jumped passing lanes and looked like the leash is off there. Svi participated in several areas and looked great. Vick got the start and played well but was quiet. Landen played more physically and did what was needed. Carlton looked lost and forced some passes. Lightfoot in limited minutes continued to look like a future gem. Coleby still looks flat footed but was a little more mobile and scored in mop up minutes

@JayHawkFanToo you have to remember that in a smaller conference like the Colonial (and even now for VCU, the A10) the conference tournament is EVERYTHING. It often doesn't matter how good your season is, you're on the bubble unless you win that tournament.
Shaka Smart was a GREAT coach at VCU. I, like @kjayhawks, believe there is a strong possibility that Shaka will do very well at Texas and contend in the B12, and I hope he/they do. Tired of the B12 puttering out in the tourney with a whimper, and I believe Durant at Texas and Acie Law at A&M were some of the steel that sharpened the steel of our championship team.

@globaljaybird I dont think Lightfoot will have any problems getting PT. Self won't roll without 4 bigs and Coleby isn't healed enough and may not be this season .

@brooksmd @jayhawkfantoo agree. I think Bill wasn't that displeased with the outcome. This was also his first live action trying 4 out 1 in. At least that I can remember.
