@DCHawker I hate the SEC
It's vanity.
Get used to it in the age of the oligarchs.
Overheard today in a Starbucks in Northern California: "The Gods want Kansas City to win."
I have no idea what to expect next year.
I do like keeping LL and I like the OC move. Keeping JD should be helpful. New stadium should be helpful.
Loss of all the talent and experience will hurt a lot.
Hoping the D can be as good as it was this year. Is that too much to ask for?
My 2 cents: This week we were out-prepared by our opponents. Today, probably also out-coached, although, the ill-preparation makes it hard to evaluate the true source.
Credit where credit is due: in-game adjustments in the second half cut the 24 pt deficit to 2 pts.
Usually when lots of shots are missed at the rim, it's because the game is incredibly physical. Lots of bumping, hitting makes players alter their shots in anticipation of contact, or they actually get hit on the shot (no call)
His foot was over the line.
Mizzou fans: classy as ever.
It's 2 possessions with 3:21. Have to play a perfect game the rest of the way.
They started at the tip against Duke.
@BShark Amen.
Yeah.. playing from behind is draining. Guys have to be in great condition to charge back.
I'm with @Kcmatt7 -- this team has plenty of talent to be unlocked.
Storr is not awful.
Hunter's D : Stand and watch your guy hit a 3.
If we hit half of these shots, we're in a 1-2 possession game with 5 min left.
Can't hit a shot man.
There's not much margin for error when you are trying to come from behind. Definitely not room for three consecutive unproductive possessions.
Started with KJ missing that stupid floater from the side. Argh.
Agree.
Officials gave us our chance there. We frittered it away.
It's a run.. Now can you climb out of a 9-point hole in 9 minutes?
It's a different game when they aren't getting continuous help from the officials.
Look, this team is not as bad as they look. There's plenty of talent.
They do need to learn to be prepared for teams that are absolutely JUICED.
Sad to miss back to back attempted 3s by Dejuan
wide open, I might add
Hitting shots makes a team look good.
That and we seem to play well when playing ahead of the other team.
We don't seem to play as well from behind.
Yeah. Officials could call a guy body bumping as the ball is being thrown to him.. But they let that go and instead call the out of bounds caused by the bump.
There are more productive things I can do with my next 45 minutes.
Zeke is over amped.
@kjayhawks Fair.
And, if you get penalized when you try to match the aggression and the other team doesn't, that can also contribute to the malaise.
@kjayhawks It's a combination of factors. We clearly aren't playing well enough to lead the game....turnovers.. etc.
But apparently it's too much to ask for the officials to be somewhat competent. The officiating encourages one team to be as aggressive as they want --pushing, shoving, hammering arms... and penalizes the other team for less. It totally affects the game.
all of these highlights of Missouri show show them fouling and no call
WOW. Bold call by the official to call a meaningless foul with 12.2 seconds left. The only purpose of that is to manage stats.
Every turnover and foul is like giving the other team a shot of adrenaline. Can't control the idiotic officials, but the turnovers are completely self-inflicted.
We need to string a few together to bring the crowd down. They are in a fervor, the team is feeding on it and the only way to string a few shots and stops together.
I think DaJuan has been playing pretty hard, but the team isn't in sync.
Kind of uninspired, and going through the motions. Doesn't work when you are favored to win. Doesn't work when you are on the road. Doesn't work when you are ranked #1.
A made shot feels like finding gold.
These officials are right there with Fran.
Fran's contempt for KU has rarely been so obvious.
apparently Mizzour cannot commit fouls.
@patoh3 White collar crime.
Well Bucketeers, these games β few and far between as they areΒ β suck. But they suck less because I am part of this community.
Appreciate all of your perspectives and insights.
@wissox 87-88
We have to play a bit better, but... good god, the officiating.
This one was largely orchestrated.
And on a similarly legendary prank status, I hope everyone has seen this amazing, recently published book on Amazon:
@wissox Love that you did this. When I was on the Kansan staff, one of my friends was a copy editor (they write headlines, check spelling and grammar, etc. and often have to make cuts to the copy to make it fit the space). One night, after 1am as we were wrapping the paper, he managed to edit an AP story so that if you read the first letter of every line of the article, there was an acrostic message. I don't remember what it said, but IIRC, it was the only way you could get certain four-letter words printed in the paper.
It was the sort of thing no one would notice... or so we thought. The Kansan professor either noticed or caught wind and was not as amused.
Legendary, nonetheless.
ugh. I hope that doesn't hold up late in the season... But Auburn sure looks legit.
It was the best Clemence has looked since his freshman season.
Fun game. Guys are generally finding their way in the system and, in some ways, they look good simply because this group is shooting better.
Next up @Creighton... will be difficult.
They can do even more with your email on gmail.
The key to knowing who to trust with your data is predicated on understanding their business model. In other words "How do they make money?"
Meta and all of their properties (with the exception of Occulus) generate profits through advertising. Advertising is sold based on targeting people. Targeting data is generated by analysis of user data. That means you are the product. They mine your attention and your personal information to make money.
Most of Google's profits come from advertising. They've dabbled in phones and tablets.. but at their heart, they are an advertising Goliath. They own both supply and demand side platforms for online advertising and totally dominate search advertising. Like a giant hoover vacuum they suck up content. Some is provided voluntarily: search queries, gmail, google drive (sheets, slides, etc.) photos. Some is provided involuntarily: websites that they scrape, etc. and involuntarily (scraping websites). They mine and analyze all of that data and turn it into targeting segments for advertisers.
Apple makes money primarily by selling phones, computers, watches, Apple TV boxes etc. In other words, Hardware. They make some money off iCloud services and are trying to branch out into streaming content. But they don't need your Personal Information to survive.
So you can come to your own conclusions about who's Terms and Conditions and privacy policies are more likely to be honored by the company you do business with.
