@truehawk93 Really it’s a morals thing not NCAA. Duke vs KU. Makes it easy to see the good guys in this story. Unfortunately I don’t know that there will be a happy ending or any form of redemption.

Who’s #11 in green? He looked pretty good/aggressive too.

Went to my cousin’s wedding today; she gave me one heck of a present missing that turd of a game!

Hack a Doke/Happ • Jan 05, 2019 02:31 AM

The hacking strategy late game needs to go. I like @kcmatt7 s approach. In the last couple minutes award a free throw and the ball tbe the team that was fouled. Maybe just reset the shot clock to 25 seconds so as not to punish the d too much. On the flip side 08 wouldn’t have happened. Hmm

Hack a Doke/Happ • Jan 04, 2019 07:10 PM

@Kcmatt7 I despise it as well, a free throw contest for the last 5 minutes isn’t what should determine a basketball game. There are times I wish Dok would use his elbows Aldrich style to clear room. They may think twice about fouling him if he’s the one dishing the punishment.

All I know is never hire a Belichek coordinator. Bit twice by that nonsense - Weis and Crennel.

Red shirt him. Lol Did Bol Bol show enough to get drafted now? Or does he come back for a second season?

Wiggins. Not good. • Jan 03, 2019 07:44 PM

Embiid 30pts 14 rebs...at half time. Wow

@Crimsonorblue22 Could you imagine if they had actually landed in a power 5 conference? It’s pretty ugly as is. I bet the Missouri Valley Conference looks like a pretty good place to hide about now.

Willis • Jan 03, 2019 07:36 PM

The PAC 12 is in such bad shape they are looking for someone to buy a 10% share for 500 million dollars. With the 25 members it works out to around $4.56 each after taxes. JJ but seriously how bad off is the PAC 12. Seems awfully desperate.

Willis • Jan 03, 2019 04:30 PM

Tom Herman is going to be a problem for a while a Texas. Sounds like OUs McVay may be as well after inking an extension.

NFL coaches canned • Jan 03, 2019 04:02 PM

I’d be fine with Reid hiring some dude off the street to be the puppet OC so the next guy poached isn’t missed. Lol

NFL coaches canned • Jan 03, 2019 04:01 PM

@Kcmatt7 After watching Pederson’s and Nagy’s first year success I’m sure other teams are salivating.

I wonder if Reid has a great eye for talent or if he just rubs off on them? If it’s the later how long does that last?

Where would we be without Devon • Jan 03, 2019 03:44 PM

@BeddieKU23 I don’t like much stoppage in action, but some things are easily correctable with a short review. I’m not sure why they don’t have another official just looking at replays the whole game to make snap judgments if needed. Like asking the first base ump if the batters swing went around. Just an assistant, not another ref taking over the whole job.

What happened to the home team having a slight edge at home with the officials?

I would be embarrassed if KU got the whistle that ASU had when Kansas was in town.

Ref's this year have been downright awful. They missed calls on both sides last night.

Dave got a foul last night for being big and going for a rebound.

The Charge call is the worst in sports. I love when Mitch gets them as he's almost always in position to get them but the one's against us there have been very few where it was the correct call. As you stated Dotson was given a foul for making a basketball play on a guy that slid underneath him. Horrible call to make, play on, or reward the offensive player.

Slid under him and had his heels in the restricted circle. Bad call that changed the complexion of the game. Straddling Devon with 3 fouls early in the second half. Glad he was able to stay on the court

UCLA fired Alford earlier this week after a four-game losing streak, capped by a 15-point home loss to Liberty last Saturday.

But who's next at UCLA? If it's another college coach (Jamie Dixon would be a name to watch), then there will be a domino effect. If it's someone from outside the college ranks (Fred Hoiberg comes to mind), then we could be headed for a fairly slow carousel among high-major programs.

Danny Manning, Wake Forest: There are a number of intriguing mid-major head coaches in the Southeast and mid-Atlantic who will have their eyes on this job if it opens, but Manning has a contract through 2025 and it's reportedly fully guaranteed. That's a lot of money for the Demon Deacons to shell out to move on from Manning after five seasons. He has been to only one NCAA tournament during that span, and has failed to win more than five ACC games in his other three seasons. They're likely the worst team in the league this season, too.

http://www.espn.com/mens-college-basketball/insider/story/_/id/25670309/how-steve-alford-firing-impact-coaching-carousel ↗

Hope the rumors are wrong. I like Dixon at TCU and don’t want to see him at UCLA. Hoiberg at UCLA would be just fine by me.

Looks like its a good thing our boy Danny got his contract fully guaranteed thru 2025. Wake isn’t off to a great start this year and may be the worst team in the ACC. I really hoped he would do well, as much as I’d like Danny back as the big man coach, I’d rather he found success.

Chiefs OC Bieniemy (Jets and Buccaneers) and STC Toub will get looks.

NFL coaches canned • Jan 02, 2019 07:59 PM

@justanotherfan McCarthy only had a job because Rodgers is so good. He’s an average coach at the very best.

Is the QB the product of the coach or does the QB make the coach? Goff w/ McVay vs Goff w/ Fisher. Reid makes any QB better - could he have made Ryan Leaf a 10 year starter? Is Belichek any good at coaching with a QB not named Brady? (Probably he made Cassel look pretty good).

@justanotherfan to your point I think it’s a two way street, both the QB and the coach can make or break the team to a large extent.

Generally Roy created or at least recruited more NBA ready players than Self. Gooden was very productive, so was Ostertag.

Dok would’ve feasted in that era.

Holgerson to Houston • Jan 01, 2019 05:34 PM

My first impression when I saw this: Glad Houston isn’t in the Big12! KU doesn’t need Houston on level footing. KU can’t get a leg up with the advantages it has now. Hopefully that changes starting now, in the Les Miles era!

@approxinfinity Our favorite players come from quite the wide spectrum of places.

I knew Mitch was from Arizona, I didn’t realize he was from Gilbert. My uncle lives there, it’s huge though so it’s not like they know eachother.

@wissox lol Fair enough, I’ve seen pictures of Chicago too. Good enough for me. And seriously there is no reason to visit Coldwater outside of the people that live there, and the space if affords to enjoy yourself. Many people don’t know how to do the second.

@Fightsongwriter I’ve got cattle a few miles NW of Coldwater also. Small world. Unfortunately I brought them home a few weeks ago and they are here in a winter wonder land instead of there on dry grass. I had to thaw out and dry off one newborn calf last night, we’ll see if he made it soon.šŸ¤ž

Oh yeah, Buccaneers canned Dirk Koetter and the Jets fired Todd Bowles as well.

Ryan Willis just led his team on a 10 play openening drive TD in a bowl game.

This gives me hope that coaching can make a huge difference on the remaining roster.

As predicted Alford was let go.

NFL coaches canned • Dec 31, 2018 04:09 PM

Where are the replacements coming from? Slim pickings after the typical 5-6 coaching changes per year the last several years. McCarthy likely gets a job, maybe in internim coach gets a job. Josh McDaniels is getting talked about again...why go thru that drama???

Broncos fired Joseph

Bengals finally canned Marvin Lewis

Dolphins disposed Gase

Browns delete Jackson

Green Bay lets McCarthy go

The manage subscription part said I had no subscriptions. I had to e-mail them. They got back to me the next day saying it was cancelled. No hassle.

A couple decades ago I had a roommate who was big into soccer. Even with his day to day excitement about the sport I still couldn’t muster the least bit of interest. It’s like a more boring version of hockey without fights and I don’t like hockey. Nah I’ll stick to KU basketball year round.

Other Games Tonight • Dec 29, 2018 11:34 PM

Wish KU could play more teams like Nova and ASU. Well coached 4 out schemes give Bill problems. I just think he needs more experience coaching against them and he’d be nearly bulletproof.

Last ESNP+ game?

Sorry about the and one dok

Also says McCormack will get minutes, yay!

Mitch • Dec 29, 2018 06:01 PM

Well if KU keeps Newman we wouldn’t get to see what a Jr. Grimes could do. šŸ˜

Mitch • Dec 29, 2018 02:09 PM

Too bad McCormack couldn’t earn more of those minutes. He needs game experience to be more productive long term. Crazy that our McD AA center can’t get minutes in the post, but our ranked around 50 point guard can! I can’t wait until the light goes on for McCormack. I love his hustle and attitude. He’ll be a stud in time.

Mitch • Dec 28, 2018 08:00 PM

...and yet KU has beaten 3 top 25 teams (2 in the top 10) and their best basketball is ahead of them. The future is very bright once they get it figured out and healthy.

Mitch • Dec 28, 2018 07:59 PM

I’m with @jayballer73 on this one. Garret was never projected to score more than 7ppg (at least in my mind). His offense isn’t what’s holding this team back. It’s everyone not named Dedrick or Devon that is the problem on offense. Charlie was supposed to be KUs best shooter - he’s no better than Garrett and couldn’t defend a one legged blind man. Grimes is supposed to be mr wonderful, just perfect in every way - Mr. invisible is more like it. KJ was supposed to be a wildcard do everything Swiss armyknife- he does nothing well so far. McCormack is a McDonalds AA that has great upside, but is wild as heck and out of position/ control in his limited minutes.

Garrett is exactly what we knew he would be - a roll player. The problem is the rest of the team isn’t filling their rolls, making Garrett’s offensive roll expand, to the detriment of the team.

I always look for a college kid selling parking in their yard a few blocks south and east of Allen Fieldhouse. That way you can give some kid $10 and you can park just far enough away to be out of traffic.

Enjoy the game!!!
